Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there! They really do the Lord's work. That being said, here's this week's version of "Who Would You Throw Under The Bus?". Time to call out those sports figures that so p****d you off over the past week. And here we go!
NASCAR
Darrell Waltrip: you have to keep in mind he's a shill for Toyota. Yet his constant lovefest with Kyle Busch was downright disgusting and takes away from the broadcast. I like DW; he's entertaining and brings a former driver's perspective to the broadcast. But I have to call them as I see them. Hate to do this, but DW goes under the Bus.
NBA
The Officials: or more specifically, the officials that allowed a Pistons 3-pointer that should have NEVER counted. The clock froze at 4.8 seconds left in the third quarter of Game 2. Any official in the history of the world (except these officials) would have stopped play and awarded the Pistons the ball with 4.8 seconds left. Because the clock froze, the Pistons were given extra time to hit the three. And because of that, the officials get thrown under the Bus.
Los Angeles Lakers: or more specifically, their bench. They were totally outclassed by the Utah Jazz bench today. Going into the series, I'd have rated the two benches even. Did the Clippers hijack the Lakers' bench and play in this game? The Lakers bench gets thrown under the Bus.
MLB
Los Angeles Dodgers: they got swept by the weak-#### Houston Astros. At home, no less. It's one thing to lose to the Mets; they're a good team. No shame in losing to the Mets. Houston is only slightly better than Pittsburgh. And I have to throw Jonathan Broxton under as well. He's the reliever that the Astros took batting practice off of. (Word had it the Astros had a team brawl at the bat rack) He let a stellar outing by Hiroki Kuroda go to total waste. Kuroda no-hit the Astros for 6 2/3 innings. And he has NOTHING to show for it. The Dodgers and Broxton get thrown under the Bus.
NFL
Marvin Harrison: the Colts' WR has carefully cultivated an image of being a quiet, unassuming player that goes out and does his job. That image is being called into question. He was involved in a shooting in a seedy part of Philadelphia at a bar he owns. The gun involved was found in a bucket at a nearby car wash he also owns. Details are sketchy, because no one's talking. Sorry Marvin, gotta throw you under the Bus for being involved with seedy ####.
Cincinnati Bengals: because they have become the league's halfway house for bad seeds, ingrates, and general all around bad guys. And it's a shame for classy players like Carson Palmer and T.J. Houshmanzadeh that they have to be lumped in with their malcontent teammates. The Bengals (except Carson and T.J.) get thrown under the bus.
NCAA
Ryan Perriloux: this guy had the opportunity of his young lifetime to be THE MAN at LSU. Starting QB for a national championship contender. So what does he do? He gets kicked off the team for allegedly failing a drug test. He was allegedly found with chronic in his system. He apparently didn't attend Common Sense 101 in the school of life. Is getting your bong on so important to you that you #### away the opportunity that just about every young man your age would rip his arm off for? For sheer stupidity, you get thrown under a FLEET of buses!
Those are my nominations! Feel free to come in with yours!
Jon, maybe the NFL will come around and award a franchise back into Los Angeles before Carson is too old to play and he can lead the LA....... (fill in the blank) to respectibility...
He hasn't won a race in about 17 years. He is so out of touch with today's cars and drivers it is ridiculous. Imagine any network having a dumb #### like him as an NFL announcer. Would never happen. That shows how little FOX respects us NASCAR fans.
Jon- Good stuff as usual. Gotta throw that crappy adhesive the 18 crew used on Sat night under the bus, think of what Kyle would have done without having to come from the back! :)
Well at least the Bengles have the right color uniforms dont they put inmates in orange..Thought I seen a couple bengles cleaning up the highway the other day
jon..lol...Doncha be sellin' them Stro's short now..Berkmans havin' an MVP year..Tejadas bein' Tejada and Lee ain't no slouch...They gotta cat named Hunter Pence that's climbin' upda charts as well...bats 7th...these guys can erupt at anytime..
JDizzle, you do realize the injured crew member was not a member of her crew and was crossing from another pit area back to his own crew area through her entry lane into the pits.
He was somewhere he was not supposed to be, and it is my understanding that there was no way for her to see him until it was too late. It was his fault, not hers.
jon; the Dodgers are one of the big under achievers so far and deserve to go under the bus.
But once again i'l be puttin you under there with them for your insult of the Astro's , for of the three teams you mentioned, they have the best record.
Astros 21-17 Mets 19-16 Dodgers 19-18..Pirates 17-19
Have you seen Berkmans #s lately or Tejadas?
Youre better off comparing your Dodgers to the
Pirates or even the Mets. But we should have both our teams hittin the pavement for having mediocre seasons that cant justify the payroll

Jon good stuff as usual. I'd throw the collective bunch of NBA refs under the bus and then back up over them to make sure they are done for. The whole playoffs has been bad on their part.
Also throw Vladamire Radmonovic of the Lakers under there while we are at it. Nobody will miss him anyways.
Also I agree about Perilloux...wtf was he thinking. Now I have we LSU fans have to suffer right along with his sorry ####
jon
Can't tell who I'd be prepared to throw under the bus at the moment. But I didn't watch that much sports over the weekend. Spent much of it tutoring kids. But on viewing some of the highlights I'd have to say the golfer Paul Goydos for blowing the lead in the Players Championship.
And also the Trojans' OJ Mayo and his so called advisors. I don't know that the chickens'll come home to roost on this particular story. But the longer it stays within the public's scrutiny the more I become susp*icious of not only USC but the NCAA themselves.
Something like this tells you all you need to know about the guy. Education was never his priority from the start.
He pimpred himself out to the highest bidder just like Reggie Bush did whilst at USC
I and my posse we roll' hard and money is no object !
My vote goes to Louis Johnson, Mayo's former friend, and the one who threw OJ under the bus. I'm not a fan of Mayo, by the way. But he deserves some tire tread over his oustretched palm.
I would like to add to the Nascar list the fans who threw their beverages onto the track after the conclusion of the race. Completely childish, not to mention dangerous for anyone who got in the path of a stay projectile.
The Astros have a very good offense. Don't talk bad about an offense that has Tejada, Berkman, Lee, and Pence all batting in a row. They are 21-17 while the Mets you talk about are 19-16. I know it's early but you can take this as an Astros NL championship prediction.
Lisa H
It's as they say .....'with friends like that who needs enemies ' ?
Mayo and the rest of his posse are living high and on the hog.
Pity Bill Duffy can't step up to the plate and accept his complicity in all of this.
I'm fair game for being thrown under the Bus for dissing the Astros' offense. I wasn't sold on them this season. I just hope they beat out the Cardinals.
Photogr & Jokerswild, that's the color of jumpsuit that the inmates wear. I wonder if Jason Shirley will be wearing the orange of the Fresno County Jail when he reports for training camp.
blue@orange, when Jones isn't in the Dodgers' lineup, they are potent. But he played much of the weekend and they went into the tank. Berkman was named NL Player of the Week. Kudos to him. He's GOTTA be salivating at the thought of facing Zito.
Kelly, Kobe is the most well known Laker. But you're right, there are four others with him on the court.
Gambit, do the refs think we're watching THEM? I know I'm watching the playoffs for some good hoops action. Vlad Rad is thrown under the Bus as well. I feel for you guys losing your starting QB. Let's hope it becomes a blessing in disguise, meaning you discover a new stud QB.
Tophatal, I heard the choking loud and clear here on the west coast. As far as Mayo, there's enough blame on both sides to go around the USC campus many times over. Regardless, it's another black eye on USC athletics.
Lisa, Louis Johnson was singing like a bird when his opportunity for greed arose. Both Johnson and Mayo deserve to go under the Bus together.
Tyler, that was totally classless. Even though Kyle Busch is driving a Toyota, he deserves props for winning.
redsoxrawesome, I wasn't sold on the Astros in spring training. They are better than I expe
Now I have someone to listen to!!!!!! After 27 years, I don't have my ex-husband to go up against over Bill Elliott and my precious Dad just left us February of this year after a hard fight with cancer. I used to pick up the phone and say, "Did you see that, Daddy?" If he didn't like the driver, he would say, "It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!"
Athensspeedwayfan, sorry to hear about the loss of your father. My condolences to you and your family. I'm glad to be that voice of the passionate sports fan. I said the same thing your father would have said, only I said it when JP Montoya went backwards late in the Daytona 500 after he cost Clint Bowyer a likely win. Thanks for reading and commenting, and you're always welcome here!
I am from Central California. I am passionate about sports, particularly the NFL and NASCAR. My favorite teams are: Panthers (NFL), Lakers (NBA), Flyers (NHL), and Dodgers (MLB). I am also a Kevin Harvick fan in NASCAR. I am a Fresno State honk. (I'll admit it!) And I am also a fan of MMA. Jackie Robinson to this day represents what is right about baseball. I also enjoy discussing the relevant (and sometimes irrelevant) issues of the day pertaining to sports. I will never understand why televised poker is so popular. Who wants to see a bunch of people sitting around a table, muttering to themselves? I do my best to keep politics out of my sports discussions. That is why I recently created a nonsports blog, cencalscribe. blogspot.com. That is where I post my nonsports topics.
