The Cross Poll, 11/20
Nov 20, 2007 | 7:29PM | report this

Happy Turkey Day, Foxsports.com bloggers and readers! Welcome to another installment of the Cross Poll.

The Cross Poll in no way influences the BCS Poll, making it about as relevant as the AP Poll. And because I watch at least one college football game per week, this makes the Cross Poll about as informed as the Coaches’ Poll. And because I use a combination of other polls and screwy computer formulas, this makes the Cross Poll about as accurate and confusing as the BCS Poll. And because no one cares where I rank these teams, this makes the Cross Poll about as important as the Harris Poll.

The Cross Poll is not an attempt to predict how good teams will be at the end of the season. Instead, it ranks the teams based on how well they’ve played to this point. It takes more than just win-loss record into account when determining teams’ rankings, factoring in who teams beat and who they lost to.

With that preface out of the way, here’s the Cross Poll rankings, with last week’s rankings in brackets:

  1. Kansas (11-0) [1]
  2. LSU (10-1) [2]
  3. Missouri (10-1) [5]
  4. West Virginia (9-1) [7]
  5. Ohio State (11-1) [8]
  6. Arizona State (9-1) [6]
  7. Hawaii (10-0) [9]
  8. Virginia Tech (9-2) [10]
  9. Georgia (9-2) [11]
  10. Oregon (8-2) [3]
  11. Oklahoma (9-2) [4]
  12. USC (8-2) [12]
  13. Boston College (9-2) [17]
  14. Boise State (10-1) [14]
  15. Texas (9-2) [15]
  16. Virginia (9-2) [16]
  17. Connecticut (9-2) [19]
  18. Florida (8-3) [20]
  19. Illinois (9-3) [21]
  20. Tennessee (8-3) [22]
  21. Wisconsin (9-3) [23]

My Homer Poll has...

1. Kansas
2. Missouri
3. LSU

Love the post. I think you have WVU and Hawaii too high, but that's why I have my poll and you have yours.

Not bad. I think that Utah or Air Force might be better than a few of those last five or so teams...

We shall see in the bowls.

I will be proud to say the following::::::the pac 10 is dominating all confrences this year and that ya hoo jim rome is an ars for letting a #### like jason whitlock to host his show. For someone who is stuck in the midwest and in a trailer from kc you jason need a reality check and understand that there is more to life than a big ten rivalry. for the love of pete stay east of the mississippi and root on your ohio valley favorites you #### I hope jim rome will never have another east loving loser who can not stay up after 12 pm est because he is enjoying the writing of erma bombeck in the new yorker while taking a #2 and complaining about what ever you east side people do. just rememeber has the red hot chili peppers said it "we are the best in the west and west is ours!"

brianblack,
Thanks for sharing your poll. Hawaii may be too high, but not WVU, especially if you consult the BCS, the only poll that really matters. But, like you said, that's why we each have our own polls.

edclinchsaint,
They very well may be. It has gotten difficult to rank all of those four-loss BCS schools. But remember that Utah and Air Force both have at least three losses on weaker schedules. But that's the beauty of bowls.

Ummm... pac10lover, what the heck are you talking about? I see no relevance between anything you wrote and my post.
