Since 1998 Tampa Bay fans have been waiting for even a semblance of this kind of euphoria. Even Cubs fans can't say that! One hundred years & counting for our friends in the Windy City. But not in Sunny Florida!
Gone are the dark days of the futile reign of Vince Naimoli, whose teams tried to squeeze production out of old oranges (Jose Canseco, Fred McGriff, Wade Boggs, et al) and tried to sell it as fresh O.J in Tropicana Field. Brooklyn born owner Stuart Sternberg has mandated change... a new attitude, a new uniform, and even a new stadium in the horizon.
Now all that needs to happen is for the Rays fan base to show up. Mets fans aren't jealous of this new found happiness in Tampa Bay, they just recognize it. Cubs fans aren't hateful, they just wish it could be them. Rangers fans don't curse the Rays, they just silently ponder thier existance. Nationals fans say: "Playoffs?? The Redskins are in the playoffs?"
A true baseball fan can not hate on Tampa Bay. They have actually follwed the tried & true formula for constucting a playoff team. Build from within & make a few shrewed trades when the other team isn't paying attention (See Scott Kazmir). So for what it's worth, I'm A Tampa Bay Rays fan for the duration of the playoffs. Ken Rosenthal calls the Red Sox "the new Yankees". Well if that's so then the Rays are "The New Amazin' Mets" (circa 1969)!
Oh well... a guy can dream, can't he? Let's Go Mets... err huh... Rays! Lets Go Rays! Lets Go Rays!!
Great minds think alike. I've been comparing them to the '69 Mets all season. They are all healthy for the first time this season. It should be a great series. GO RAYS!

Born in 1965, Jayro17 has had a love affair with his beloved METS since 1974. Felix Millian was his favortite player. Those were the Mets of Seaver, Koosman, Matlack, Staub, Jones, Milner, Grote & Harrelson. Many years of frustration followed until Strawberry, Gooden, Dykstra, Backman, Hernandez, & finally Carter came to his rescue! Even Mazzilli was a part of those two eras! 1986 made it all worth the wait!
His wife & 3 kids are also Mets Nuts (as if they had a choice in the matter!) and thier beloved Shih Tzu, Pinto, owns a Mets Collar! Orange & Blue thru and thru!
