Saturday Night Fights Or Rambo? hummmmmmmmm!
May 31, 2008 | 11:40PM | report this

Tonight was the first time I actually watched some MMA action, if that is what you want to call it. I figured it would be more of a fight, not two big fellers rolling around like they were in a mud pit kneeing eachother in the #### every now and then. If thats all I have to look forward to everytime I watch it. Then I am gonna just stick in a Rambo movie and watch it. I would rather watch the old man blow BLEEP up than witness what i saw tonight on CBS.

Football season can't come soon enough though 3 months is toooooo long to wait.

You be the Judge!!!!!!!!
Jan 01, 2008 | 7:43PM | report this

What day of the year is the best day in sports? Perhaps it is SuperBowl Sunday, or is it January 1st with all the bowl games. There are many different sporting events throughout the year that are worth watching. I guess the old saying ( different strokes for different folks ) applies here. Here are a few different events to choose from. I am sure I left a few out if so just put other and explain. I am just curious as to how America thinks. just leave a comment with your answer.

A: SuperBowl Sunday

B: January 1st  ( bowl games )

C: Final round of the Masters

D: The Daytona 500

E: The Final Four  ( championship game)

F: NBA Finals ( last game)

G: World Series ( last game )

H: Other  ( explain  )

I will tabulate the answers and let you know the results on the 10th. Thanks for your participation.

All Eyes on Glendale!!!!!!!!!!!

Will this years Fiesta Bowl be as good as last years? Some experts are saying the matchup between 11-2 Oklahoma and 10-2 West Virginia will be the most intriguing bowl game in the BCS. Even more intriguing than the Championship Game. If Pat White and Steve Slayton are both healthy, then West Virginia's chances get even better to win. The only question is! Will the Rich Rodriguez factor come into play? I'm sure it will have a little effect. If West Virginia puts aside the fact that their head coach wont be there for the bowl game, then nothing should really change at all. The point spread hasn't changed much either. Oklahoma should be pretty healthy. Osten English should be back in the lineup on defense. DeMarco Murray wont play, due to a dislocated kneecap he suffered in the game against Texas Tech. All in all it should be a very interesting ballgame.

Rumblings are going around that if Oklahoma goes out and dominates West Virginia and runs them out of the building, there could be a split National Championship. That is if LSU squeaks by Ohio State in a poorly played game. It also depends on the outcome of the AP poll. The BCS committee and the SEC commissioner voted down a Va Tech and Oklahoma match-up in the Orange Bowl just to prevent a split title. West Virginia is better than Va Tech anyway, as far as I'm concerned. If LSU wins by 1 or 2 points on a last second field goal or touchdown in a poorly played game! Do they really deserve the title to themselves? That is if Oklahoma just throttles West Virginia. After all Oklahoma dominated the #1 ranked team in the Big 12 Championship game! Some experts think that Oklahoma should be playing USC for the championship anyway, because these 2 teams are playing the best football right now. This all makes for a very interesting conversation, and supports the facts that we need a play-off. I personally think Kansas or Hawaii should be playing Ohio State anyway.

I hope they end up with a split National Championship, just so that the BCS can go back to the drawing board and come up with another hairbrained idea to mess it even worse and try to convince us highly intelligent sports fans thats the best thing they could come up with.

" The ILOVEFOOTBALLMORETHENYOU Report"
Dec 14, 2007 | 5:35AM | report this

After 20 minutes of investigation. My committe, which consists of ( me, myself, and I ) have come to the conclusion. Does anybody really give a rip about the George Mitchell Report? We all know that steroid and HGH use is already present and has been for quite awhile now. As long as Bud Selig is commish, nothing will happen. As long as the owners are getting the seats filled to see a shitload of homeruns hit nothing will happen. Yes! They have implemented random drug testing, but until they have surprise mandatory drug testing of all players, testing for HGH and steroids, the players will still slip through the cracks. They need to stay one step ahead of the drug manufacturers and users. This report coming out yesterday consisted of about 75 names of current and former players, ie Roger Clemens, Lenny Dykstra, and a few other big names. this list will get talked about for a few days and be forgotten by Sunday when the NFL games #### up.

My Committe has also come to the conclusion that Bobby Petrino is a 1st class schmuck. Quitting the team during the season, This is a classic example of hypocracy. After getting beat by the Saints on Monday night and saying all that blah blah blah garbage about working through this as a team, then 24 hours later you are calling the PIGS in Fayetteville. It's as if the contract era is gone, and the ramifications of the contract doesn't matter anymore. I would not blame Arthur Blank one bit if he was to sue Petrino. I know the Falcons are down right now, but still you don't abandone ship during the season, no matter how bad things are going. So you lose your star quarterback. Waaah! How do you think Indy, New England, Dallas or Green Bay would be without their star quarterback. I don't see Tony Dungee jumping ship.

Petrino has signed 3 long term contracts in the last 18 months. He better hope Arkansas works out. Who knows! He may be the coach at Michigan or UCLA by the time I post this blog. Last but not least! Les Miles! If you are gonna stay at LSU. Don't keep in contact with Michigan. I'm sure they can find a coach on their own. Unless they have one already and it's TOP SECRET.

How A Playoff Will Work.......................
Dec 07, 2007 | 7:17AM | report this

There sure has been alot of talk on the Oklahoma City airwaves about a playoff in college football. After all the parody this year and some of the match-ups in the BCS, we could use one. For instance, Kansas or Hawaii should be playing Ohio State in the title game instead of LSU, going by win loss records. Kansas is 11-1, Hawaii is 12-0. How do the computers miss this? They have already taken margin of victory and strength of schedule out of the computer ratings system. The University of Oklahoma doesn't even get recognized for beating Missouri twice, and they were ranked #1 in the BCS. All I am trying to say is that the system is a little WHACKED.

Even though Hawaii is in a non BCS conference, they are still unbeaten and should get a chance to play for the Championship. Look at Boise State last year, they proved that they can compete with anyone. They won the damn Fiesta Bowl.

There are ways to work a playoff into the bowl season without prolonging the season, and you can still possibly keep the Rose Bowl happy. The very 1st thing you can do is start the bowl season 2 weeks early. This keeps the teams from getting rusty over the 4 week layoff. Then put 2 more bowls in the BCS rotation and let them have a playoff. It is quite easy to figure out.

Here is how my playoff would be set-up.

December 25th

Gator Bowl = #1 vs. #8

Cotton Bowl = #2 vs. #7

Orange Bowl = #3 vs. #6

Sugar Bowl = #4 vs. #5

January 1st

Rose Bowl = Winners of Gator & Cotton, or PAC10 vs. BIG10 match-up if both still in.

Fiesta Bowl = Winners of Orange & Sugar or whoever the Rose Bowl doesn't get.

January 7th

Championship game = Winners of the Rose & Fiesta keeping the BCS in rotation every year like it is now.

There are many ways a playoff could be set-up. you could use 4 teams, 8 teams or even 16 teams. That would make the BCS more fair, and even give the Cinderella teams a shot at winning it all. As for the rest of the bowls that would allow 50 other teams to qualify and keep everyone's bowl hopes alive. It would also get rid of a majority of mediocre 6-6 teams getting in and stinking up the T.V. set.

Holiday Wishes!
Nov 22, 2007 | 7:00AM | report this

With the college football season winding down. The NBA and college basketball tipping off and the NFL heading into it's second half of the season means only one thing. The holidays are here.

The college football season has been full of upsets and shockers.  Will all the parody spill over into basketball? I think it already has with Kentucky losing already to Gardner Webb. Trying to figure out the BCS is nothing but a headache, and Nascar is off till February. Will Les Miles go to Michigan? With Barry Bonds getting indicted, A-Rod possibly re-signing with the Yankees, and the coaching carousel starting to take off. All this gives us something to talk about.

This is my favorite time of the year. Not only is there alot of sports but this is also a time of Thanksgiving, Christmas and fellowship. Is there anything better than enjoying a great feast with your family, then sitting around football, or playing touch football with the kids in the backyard? Or even seeing the smiles on your childrens faces on Christmas morning when they open there gifts? I don't think so! We must not forget the real reason for the season though. We should also ask the good lord to bless those people who cannot afford a meal or gifts and have to go without this holiday season. Lets's don't forget about the homeless people who have nowhere to go for the holidays or anyone who has a hardship this holiday season. Last but not least, let's ask the lord to bless the troops who cannot be home for the Holidays.

From the ilovefootballmoreTHENyou family to everyone out there:

         HAPPY HOLIDAYS  and  GOD BLESS!!!!

Living the Dream
Aug 13, 2007 | 5:56PM | report this

How many of you out there are living the dream? Or have lived the dream? Many of us as a kid have dreamed about being either a NBA star or a NFL star or even a NHL star. I know I always wanted to play for the Green Bay Packers when I was little.

Although the majority of us never get that chance. We still ponder the thought of what if we did. Would we have been an all-star or a bust? Would we have a career or life ending injuries? Would we get into the Hall of Fame?

How many of us try to live our dreams through our children? I catch myself doing that alot. Trying to talk my son into playing football when he doesn't like football. My wife get's on to me all the time about it......By the way...for all of your information....she's the one that love's the YANKEES that are in my blogs.

As we grow older our focuses and dreams change. We focus on putting our children through college. Dreaming that they can become doctors or lawyers or HECK...maybe even president!!! My childhood dream didn't come true, but I sure do enjoy being a dad and trying to make my kids dreams come true.

I will just continue to write sports blogs and hope to become a sports writer one day. Where else can rabid sports fans rip people to shreds and state our opinions and have fun doing it?
