G-minee Christmas People, Enough Already!!!!!
Dec 11, 2008 | 6:48PM | report this

I am getting sick and tired of hearing all the hub-ub of  the poor little shorthorn fans TO,d that they are not the Big 12 Champs, and are not in the National Championship game. After all Mack Brown voted for the tie-breaker system too. It,s like Forest Gump always says ( life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you will get. ) That was the case this year in the Big 12. Get over it. But what really erks me though is all of these Sooner fans who actually believe that Texas got ####. These are probably the ones who listen to all the garb that comes out of Herbstreit's and Corso's mouth, along with a few others. These are probably OU fans that cheered for Texas in the Rose Bowl against USC for the championship 3 years ago, and who are gonna root for Okie State in the Holiday Bowl.

I don't ever hear of any Longhorn fans or Cowboy fans rooting for OU when they are in the spotlight. How many of you Ohio State fans root for Michigan, or vice versa? How many Bama fans root for Auburn? I think you all catch my drift. Is it just me or are you suppose to root for your rival nowadays? This is really weird. There are only a few other teams I even root for in the Big 12, Texas Tech, ( because Mike Leach is a genius who should be getting more job offers than he has, which is another story for later) and Colorado because if my son doesn't get into OU thats where I hope he goes.

I am gonna watch the Holiday Bowl, and I am gonna root for Kelly Scott's Ducks, and I will be rooting on Ohio State in The Fiesta Bowl, in which Ohio State will win Because they are the underdog. The underdog has won the last 3 there.

Sooner fans need to just set back and be thankful that we got the breaks we needed to play in Miami this year. We need to be talking about if coach Stoops will pull a rabbit out of his visor and FINALLY win the big one once again. We need to be talking about, will OU's defense be able to shut down that spread offense that Florida has, and will the high power offense of OU be able to pick apart that quick defense of Florida's. We need to talk about stuff like that instead of whiney stuff, like Herbstreit said this about this and that, and that Texas got hosed. What Bull Kaka! Get your priorities straight people! That's all I am asking. If you do this it will make this long drug out break go quicker.

I am picking OU to win this game. There hasn't been anyone besides Texas to really challenge this offense, which by the way is playing alot better since DeMarco Murray has finally found his old self. And for the fact that I think this whole Mississippi State deal is gonna get ugly with Dan Mullins and Florida, and Miss. State, which will be a big distraction. And I think If OU stuffs the middle on defense they will shut Tebow down. I hope I am right.

Let's Get One Thing Straight!!!
Aug 27, 2008 | 8:14PM | report this

OK! Ladies and gentlemen. It is time we set things straight. I am sick and tired of hearing how OSU is Oklahoma's STATE university. They don't call it the Sooner State for nothing. And why is it called the University OF Oklahoma. OU plays for Championships, OSU plays for hopeful Bowl bids. So until you can walk the walk, there is no need to talk the talk.

OU and that OTHER school both kick-off their long awaited football seasons this weekend. OU plays UT- Chattanooga, and the Other school plays Washington State. The OU game ( or scrimmage, if you want to call it that ) will be a cakewalk. The Other school will have their hands full with a tough loss in Seattle.

OU's schedule sets up perfectly to play either Ohio State or USC in Miami next January for the Championship. OU also has two Heisman hopefuls in Sam Bradford, and DeMarco Murray. As for the OTHER school, they will have another one of those ( what the HELL happened ) seasons. A stellar 5-7 record at best. And with no road wins this year, coach Gundy better hope he can keep his job. I would hate to hear the thought of T. Boone Pickens and Mike Holder exhuming the body of the great Bear Bryant from the ground, and offer him boo koo's of money to coach the team. Oh well! Gundy is a man, he's 40, and he can handle it.

As for the outlook for this weekend. The Michigan and Utah game is very intrigueing to me. You have a new coach, a new system, and a new quarterback, and we must not forget what Appalachian State did to the Wolverines last year. I look for Utah to cover and win the game. I would also stay away from the Florida and Hawaii game, that is way too many points. Just because they lost their head coach, doesn't mean they aren't any good. We cant forget that they made it to the Sugar Bowl last year.

I don't see any SEC teams making to the Championship game this year. The way those teams beat the snot out of eachother week in and week out, it is hard for any one to go undefeated in that conference.

All in all, it should be another great year of college football. I am anxious to see who pulls off the upset of the year. Who this years Cinderella team will be. And to see if Bob Stoops and Jim Tressel can break out of their BCS slumps. And last but not least, to talk smack with all of you fellow bloggers. Are you ready for some Football? I AM.

3:10 to Norman
Jan 03, 2008 | 8:54PM | report this

HOLY COW! Another BCS loss. That was one of the most embarrasing, lackluster, defensive performances I have ever seen out of OU. I understand the fact they were without 3 of their starters in the lineup. But still when you have a top 5 to 10 recruiting class every year, you should be able to fill those spots easily. West Virginia could have ( lowcrawled ) into the end zone and no-one would have stopped them. The offense didn't perform very well either. I bet Loadholtz has still got a hold on one of the West Virginia jerseys. It is like they forgot there was a game to be played. West Virginia had 525 total yards, 341 of them were rushing yards. UNBELEIVABLE! Is it game preparation, stupidity, or overhyped talent? It is very frustrating and hard to figure out.

Collin Cowherd hit the nail on the head this morning. Big Game BOB is becoming Sponge Bob Bowl Flop. Bob Stoops has lost his swagger when it comes to BCS bowls. 3 out of his last 4 outings have been total stinkers. Last years Fiesta Bowl should have been a victory also. It seems to me that since Mike Stoops left for Arizona, the defense has softened big time. Brent Venables needs to be fired. Anyone who can't prepare a defense to play with all the talent and depth they have doesn't deserve any sympathy. Either that or Bob Stoops needs to take over the defense. When Mike Stoops was defensive coordinator at OU, the defense had an attitude. They had a " we're gonna hit you so hard that the ball pops loose " attitude. Back then if they had a bad performance it was corrected by the next week. Now they stink for 3 to 4 weeks and then FINALLY have a good performance. Our O-line is one of the biggest offensive lines in the country and everyone just blows right through. It's really when Sam Bradford is taller than everyone on West Virginia's defense and our offensive line can't block them. Maybe our O-line is so big that they lack the quickness and agility that they need to perform properly.

Whatever the problem is, the coaching staff needs to sit down and figure out how to fix it. If it comes down to finding recruits who WANT to play instead of kids who think they automatically deserve to play because of who they are, then so be it. It seems to be working in Boise and Kansas. Or if it takes someone like Mike Stoops to motivate the team, then go find that someone to do it.

I don't know if the Sooner Nation can take many more of these premeire bowl games, and come out of it with nothing but alot of questions of how and why. The Sooners postseason runs are starting to compare to A-Rod's. Perform well during the regular season and don't show up when it counts.

The Sooners need to hurry up and get the 1st flight or bus out of there, even if it means catching the 3:10 to Norman. Then they need to focus on their problems and then fix them. Then they need to break this 0-4 BCS streak they are on and bring some pride back to the Sooner Nation and the program.

All Eyes on Glendale!!!!!!!!!!!
Dec 20, 2007 | 11:17PM | report this

Will this years Fiesta Bowl be as good as last years? Some experts are saying the matchup between 11-2 Oklahoma and 10-2 West Virginia will be the most intriguing bowl game in the BCS. Even more intriguing than the Championship Game. If Pat White and Steve Slayton are both healthy, then West Virginia's chances get even better to win. The only question is! Will the Rich Rodriguez factor come into play? I'm sure it will have a little effect. If West Virginia puts aside the fact that their head coach wont be there for the bowl game, then nothing should really change at all. The point spread hasn't changed much either. Oklahoma should be pretty healthy. Osten English should be back in the lineup on defense. DeMarco Murray wont play, due to a dislocated kneecap he suffered in the game against Texas Tech. All in all it should be a very interesting ballgame.

Rumblings are going around that if Oklahoma goes out and dominates West Virginia and runs them out of the building, there could be a split National Championship. That is if LSU squeaks by Ohio State in a poorly played game. It also depends on the outcome of the AP poll. The BCS committee and the SEC commissioner voted down a Va Tech and Oklahoma match-up in the Orange Bowl just to prevent a split title. West Virginia is better than Va Tech anyway, as far as I'm concerned. If LSU wins by 1 or 2 points on a last second field goal or touchdown in a poorly played game! Do they really deserve the title to themselves? That is if Oklahoma just throttles West Virginia. After all Oklahoma dominated the #1 ranked team in the Big 12 Championship game! Some experts think that Oklahoma should be playing USC for the championship anyway, because these 2 teams are playing the best football right now. This all makes for a very interesting conversation, and supports the facts that we need a play-off. I personally think Kansas or Hawaii should be playing Ohio State anyway.

I hope they end up with a split National Championship, just so that the BCS can go back to the drawing board and come up with another hairbrained idea to mess it even worse and try to convince us highly intelligent sports fans thats the best thing they could come up with.

Rivalry Revisited..........
Sep 06, 2007 | 6:53PM | report this

Remember back when Oklahoma & Miami would do battle on  the gridiron and Miami always had Oklahomas number? The rivalry is back. Randy Shannon brings his Miami Hurricanes into Norman for what should a great game. Hopefully Oklahoma can win and start to even out this lopsided record. Miami coming off a win over Marshall 31-3 will be coming in with alot of confidence. Oklahoma coming off that 79-10 bludgeoning of North Texas is sure to be fired up. The tough Miami defense will be a good test for Sam Bradford and the Sooner offense.

Remember in 85' when the 22nd ranked Hurricanes came into Norman and upset the 3rd ranked Sooners 27-14? Even though that  day ended Aikmans career at Oklahoma that was still a great game. When Alonzo Highsmith ran over the Boz and put him on the ground. Oklahoma won the National Championship that year beating Penn State in the Orange Bowl 25-10  with Jamelle Hollieway at the helm. The Sooners haven't beaten Miami in a long time and there alot of diehard fans waiting for that day to come again. The U isn't what it use to be back in the 80's and 90's when they were so dominant.

Coach Switzer and Coach Johnson have given us several great games in the past. Now that we are in the Stoops and Shannon era hopefully the great matchups continue. This shuold be a great game Saturday in Norman and we should be able to find out if Bradford is the real deal.

The Rivalry Never Dies!
Aug 24, 2007 | 12:30AM | report this

An Oklahoma City man has been charged with aggravated assault and battery for causing extensive damage to another mans ####. Apparently a man wearing a Texas Longhorns shirt walked into a local drinking establishment in downtown OKC and was cursed, heckled and then attacked. This Texas fan (who is from Oklahoma) had never met this other guy before. He was just having some drinks with a friend when this Oklahoma fan started screaming and hollering at him and calling him everything under the sun for wearing that Longhorns shirt into the bar. After about 20 minutes of listening to the guy and his verbal abuse the Texas fan gets up goes to the bar to pay his tab. He then turns around and the Oklahoma fan grabs his #### and refuses to let go. The Texas fan tried to hit the other man several times before the bar patrons intervened. But the Oklahoma fan didn't let go until he heard the Texas fan's #### tear and blood ran down his leg. The Texas fan said it took more than 60 stitches to close his wound. Two months later he is still in pain and also fell behind on his child support because he couldn't work. This happened on June 17th. It shows that the rivalry is a year round battle.

This is totally ridiculous that people do bodily damage to others over a rivalry that should be left on the field or the court. I have friends that are Oklahoma State fans and Texas fans. We talk alot of trash and B.S. when it comes to the games or our favorite schools. But we don't foam at the mouth to rip each others doo dads off. Come on now! rivalries are for betting off the wall bets and trash talking. Not for ruining someone's life or bodily damage to another human being. I also understand that fights break out when there is alcohol consumption involved. But this guy was just minding his own business having some drinks. The Oklahoma fan is 53 years old and the charge carries up to 5 years in the pen. He should serve every bit of it too. Imagine what your sons or daughters would think if their father was in prison for ripping a mans #### off.

I am a Die Hard sooner fan who loves sports. I talk alot of trash when it comes to Bedlam or the Red River Shootout but I dont do any bodily harm to anyone. There are some fans (for both schools) that call into the sports talk radio station in OKC who are just absolutely embarrasing some of the garbage that comes out their mouth's.

There are alot of great rivalries in sports across this great nation and lots of CLASSY fans too. But there is also just a small percentage of idiots who try to ruin it for us. We've got to remember who we are and how we represent ourselves and our teams. And let's hope this small percentage of idiots will wake up and realize how stupid they are. As far as this one Oklahoma fan goes he falls below Michael Vick on my list of DIRTBAGS.

Sooner D. Looks Good
Aug 14, 2007 | 8:04PM | report this

A reliable source out of Norman Ok. says the sooner defense looked pretty good in their scrimmage this last Saturday in Norman. The offensive line started out a little sluggish but started coming around towards the end of the scrimmage.

The quarterbacks are pretty evenly matched, no starter has been named yet. What one lacks in certain skills the others make up for in other skills. Could be an interesting season, hopefully one of the quarterbacks separates himself from the others by the start of the season or at least by the Miami game. If the Sooners can make it through Miami, Texas and Okie State we could be in the Championship hunt.

The runningbacks played well once the offensive line got going. Allen Patrick didn't play due to ankle sprain he recieved in practice last week. Should be back soon. The Sooners are back in action on September 1st in Norman  vs. North Texas...................
