What The Hey!!!
Sep 03, 2008 | 7:45PM | report this

This is a first! I had a team owner drop all of his players in my Fantasy Football League. So in order to make things fair with all the dropped players, I reassigned all of his players back to his roster. Then I took over his team.  After I go through all the rosters to get the teams back to normal so anyone who wants to trade players can. I have another yardbird drop all of his players today. He was ####ing how it wasn,t fair for me to go through his roster and pick out the players that he had gotten because of this. I don't know if the players were on waivers or what. I didn't have it set up that dropped players went on waivers. What a headache this week has been. It really blows when you have one or two players do this. It makes you wonder if it wasn't a team effort. Plus it makes the rest of your league just a little bit weary of what kind of league they have joined. This really makes it hard on a commish who is trying to run a fair and just league. Anyways enough on this.

Didn't get to see the OU game this weekend because it was on Pay Per View. Still trying to figure out how Cattanooga scored 2 points on us. Cincinatti is coming to Norman this week so the Sooners better be ready for a game because you know Cinci will be ready.

OKC has been Thunderstruck, we knew the name for awhile but it was formally announced today. The OKC Thunder. That is better than the Scissortails or the oil derricks. I thought the Aviators sounded pretty cool myself, but what do I know. It takes a group of multi-millionaires two or three months to come up with a name, and team colors? Get out of here! Anyways welcome to Oklahoma.

Would somebody please tell me how Pitt loses to Bowling Green with a favorable lead at halftime? And Is Stanford the new Big Dog Daddy of the PAC-10? At least they got that team back on track to winning more games. And what a big ouchie that was for Va Tech. Still trying to figure that one out also. Is it just me or did Colorado look impressive in their victory against Colorado State? Do we have a new threat for the Big-12 North on our hands? I think so. This weekend doesn't have many blockbuster games but it will still be fun to watch. I know in my neck of the woods all eyes are looking forward to the Ohio State vs. USC game next weekend. I hate to knock on the USC fans but Ohio State will win that one. Just wait and see.

Let's Get One Thing Straight!!!
Aug 27, 2008 | 8:14PM | report this

OK! Ladies and gentlemen. It is time we set things straight. I am sick and tired of hearing how OSU is Oklahoma's STATE university. They don't call it the Sooner State for nothing. And why is it called the University OF Oklahoma. OU plays for Championships, OSU plays for hopeful Bowl bids. So until you can walk the walk, there is no need to talk the talk.

OU and that OTHER school both kick-off their long awaited football seasons this weekend. OU plays UT- Chattanooga, and the Other school plays Washington State. The OU game ( or scrimmage, if you want to call it that ) will be a cakewalk. The Other school will have their hands full with a tough loss in Seattle.

OU's schedule sets up perfectly to play either Ohio State or USC in Miami next January for the Championship. OU also has two Heisman hopefuls in Sam Bradford, and DeMarco Murray. As for the OTHER school, they will have another one of those ( what the HELL happened ) seasons. A stellar 5-7 record at best. And with no road wins this year, coach Gundy better hope he can keep his job. I would hate to hear the thought of T. Boone Pickens and Mike Holder exhuming the body of the great Bear Bryant from the ground, and offer him boo koo's of money to coach the team. Oh well! Gundy is a man, he's 40, and he can handle it.

As for the outlook for this weekend. The Michigan and Utah game is very intrigueing to me. You have a new coach, a new system, and a new quarterback, and we must not forget what Appalachian State did to the Wolverines last year. I look for Utah to cover and win the game. I would also stay away from the Florida and Hawaii game, that is way too many points. Just because they lost their head coach, doesn't mean they aren't any good. We cant forget that they made it to the Sugar Bowl last year.

I don't see any SEC teams making to the Championship game this year. The way those teams beat the snot out of eachother week in and week out, it is hard for any one to go undefeated in that conference.

All in all, it should be another great year of college football. I am anxious to see who pulls off the upset of the year. Who this years Cinderella team will be. And to see if Bob Stoops and Jim Tressel can break out of their BCS slumps. And last but not least, to talk smack with all of you fellow bloggers. Are you ready for some Football? I AM.

Who's Cheating Who?

What in the world is going on in Green Bay? We all should have known that Brett Favre wasn't through. The Packers are making a HUGE mistake if they release this guy. With Favre at the helm the Packers are legitimate Super Bowl contenders.

When Favre wants to play the man should get to play. The Packers look like idiots not wanting him to come back and play. Yes! I know it has been one big Fiasco the past few years with Favre always contemplating on whether to retire or not. But the guy can still play football. I would rather see Favre marching my team up and down the field anyway. Nothing against Aaron Rodgers, he will be a superstar when his time comes. I can also understand the Packers' point about moving on, and turning the show over to the young quarterback. But come on now, you don't have to be a Rocket Surgeon to figure out who gives you a better shot at the Lombardi trophy. Favre is on of the top quarterbacks in NFL history, if not the best, and the man still wants to play. There is a reason why he didn't completely submit his retirement papers. You could tell in his voice when he held his retirement press conference, that he wasn't sure he was making the right decision.

How do you think Giants fans would feel if Michael Strahan wanted to un-retire, and they wouldn't take him back. Then released him, and he ended up in Philly or Dallas. I don't think that would go over to well in the Big Apple. Especially after winning the Super Bowl.

Look at Michael Jordan! He was a Superstar when he retired the first time. But he got the Itch to try it again and did. There are other athletes who have done the same thing. Magic Johnson, Evander Holyfield, Roger Clemens, Mario Lemieux, and numerous others. My point is! He still has the stuff to get the job done, and who knows if Rodgers has what it takes to win championships. So keep Favre in Green Bay as long as you can.

Being the true Packer fan I am. I personally do not want to see Favre trotting onto the field in a Vikings or Bears uniform. He makes any team a Super Bowl conetender, and he has been the face of the Packers for 13 years. I think there are other PACK fans who feel the same way I do about this.

Hopefully the Packers and Brett Favre can come to an agreement sooner than later and get things back to normal in Green Bay. If not this could be a bigger mistake than when the Packers passed up on Barry Sanders in the NFL draft.

Patsy! You've got to go now!
Jun 27, 2008 | 9:57PM | report this

What good does it do playing 3 or 4 patsy teams in your non-conference schedule? It doesn't make any sense to me. I can see playing 1, but no more than 2. You need at least one to get the team in the groove of things, and to play as many players as possible to find out who needs to be redshirted, switched to another position, or just plain ole put on the scout team. I think these teams should play as tough of a non-conference schedule as possible, because it puts the players in the right state of mind and tests their toughness. It also keeps the players on their toes, and ready to give it  100 % every week.

Every conference has one or two of those " Cupcake " teams anyways. Some conferences have even more than that. There's no way around that. It seems like these teams are always the ones who pull of the major upsets in the middle of the season, and makes us furious. ie ( Stanford, Colorado, Illinois, and others) This scheduling would give us a better synopsis on who truly deserves to play in the National Championship Game. Some schools have a pretty tough non-conference schedule, but a majority of them don't

This would also give the fans, and season ticket holders who pay alot of money to go to these games, their moneys worth. Instead of 77-10 blowouts for 3 or 4 weeks, and then losing to a team who is in no way suppose to win. This would also keep the season more interesting, and let us know who is for real and who isn't.

At the rate the NCAA is going about giving us a playoff system, this would remove all doubt, until if or when  we get a college football playoff.

It Definitely Has It's PERKS!
Jun 26, 2008 | 7:38PM | report this

Who in their right mind wouldn't want to play sports at USC? They have the best pay and benefits package in the NCAA. Where else can you get a fancy home to live in, and get paid better than the average hard working american?

Is this what college recruiting has come too? I certainly hope not. If so, then none of the other schools have any chance of landing any top recruits. Which isn't right. I know some of you are gonna say " If a kid goes to Oklahoma, then they don't have to go to work and still get paid". Which I myself have heard kids even say that.

Who is to blame for this? All of these young recruits see all of this #### going on and start thinking. "Wouldn't it be nice to go there and play sports."  I don't know how many young recruits I have heard interviewed on the radio that don't have USC, Oklahoma, or Miami, as their top 3 schools on their list to visit. But don't get me wrong these schools are near the top, if not the top 3 football programs in the nation. But in the back of your mind, don't you wonder if a booster or alum is paying these kids to come to their university? I often wonder how big this problem really is, and if so how other schools are keeping it hush hush.\

I don't think you can blame it all on the coaches, but they too need to realize if you have an athlete driving to practice in a fancy #### car, or hear of a player or their parents living in a quarter million dollar home, that should immediately throw up a red flag. And should be checked out by either someone from the coaching staff or the compliance department. Maybe these universities need to hire more people in compliance and put 1 or 2 compliance personell on each coaching staff. Maybe that would help things out a little bit. With the colleges always upping tuition fees every couple years that should be enough to compensate for the cost of of extra compliance personell.

These coaches already have enough to do with recruiting and what not,and shouldn't have to babysit these student athletes 24/7. But no matter how many personell, or how hard you try to crackdown on these problems. There is always gonna besome agent, booster, or other yardbird who is gonna do what they want and disregard the consequences that can be put on the school, or players careers. The universities need to put more pressure on these people, and ban them from attending any sports or school functions, and run them out of town if they do get involved in any of these shananigans that go on across America.

USC is not the only one with these problems. I am using them as an example since allegations have come up in both football and basketball. We remember not to long ago when the starting quarterback for the University of Oklahoma got involved with illegal wrongdoings and the university got hit with sanctions from the NCAA. There are probably many more programs that have the same thing going on and just haven't been caught yet and the coaches are unaware of it. Hopefully this problem can and will get taken care of soon before everyone has NCAA sanctions brought against them and the game of College Football becomes tarnished.

This is an open invite to anyone who wants to join my Fantasy Football League. It is a published league, and the league name is called The Greatest Show on Turf. I don't have anyone's e-mail addresses to send any invites, so I figured I would send a shout out to all of you at once. If I have to I will make the league as big as I can to accomodate as many participants as possible.

I think it would  be interesting to challenge the fox bloggers to see who is the best team owner. There aren't any prizes to be given away. But bragging rights mean a lot, and the winner will stay posted on my blog till next season.

So Greenspire, Kelleyscott, Gcoach, Shooter B, or anyone who wants to participate just feel free to join and if there is no more open spots I will try to make the league bigger. just leave me a comment if you have trouble joining.

Would someone please push their fast forward button so football season will hurry up and get here. It has been entirely too long to go without football.

Saturday Night Fights Or Rambo? hummmmmmmmm!
May 31, 2008 | 11:40PM | report this

Tonight was the first time I actually watched some MMA action, if that is what you want to call it. I figured it would be more of a fight, not two big fellers rolling around like they were in a mud pit kneeing eachother in the #### every now and then. If thats all I have to look forward to everytime I watch it. Then I am gonna just stick in a Rambo movie and watch it. I would rather watch the old man blow BLEEP up than witness what i saw tonight on CBS.

Football season can't come soon enough though 3 months is toooooo long to wait.

PAC-MAN Wants His Own Star!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mar 28, 2008 | 12:28AM | report this

How about that! PAC-Man Jones wants to wear the star. He better hope he gets reinstated first. Pac-Man Jones says he is trying harder to become a better person. Last I knew! A person doesn't have to try harder to become a better person, you either are or you aren't. A good person keeps his nose clean, stays out of trouble, and is a good role model, and a law abiding citizen. Not someone who drags his entourage of thugs around the country causing problems and shooting up strip clubs in Vegas.

Is Dallas big enough for another big name trouble maker? I don't think so! I am still waiting for T.O. to spontaneously combust, and for ( Tank ) Johnson to get into trouble again. I don't think the city of Dallas needs PAC-MAN dragging Pinky and Blinky and others around town causing a raucous.

As far as Pac-Man Jones playing for the Cowboys. I don't have a problem with that. If the Titans don't want him back, I don't  see what it would hurt trading for him and signing him to a 1 year contract. Offer him a couple million bucks, and give him a 1 strike you're out clause and see how it goes. After all Roy Williams could use some help in the secondary. And please don't put all your cookies in one basket and trade up for Darren Mc Fadden. That would be a bad choice. You already have Marion Barber. Who knows Felix Jones may fall to your spot in the draft.

It is not like your losing a whole lot by going ahead and signing Pac-Man Jones. If he acts like a changed person and stays out of trouble you may want to sign him to a longer contract. If he doesn't  then run his butt out of town. Simple as that.

Personally I don't think Roger Goodell will reinstate him, but who knows. He has already been back to strip clubs after the Commisioner specifically told him to stay away from those places. It is such a shame that an athlete as talented as him has to go and throw it all away, and get tied up into things he doesn't need to be a part of. All I can say is maybe he will grow up and be more responsible, but I highly doubt it.

How Long is Long Enough??????
Feb 16, 2008 | 8:14PM | report this

Sean Sutton is in the hot seat at Oklahoma State University. The Cowboys have not won a road in almost 2 years, and are gonna miss the NCAA Tournament for the 3rd year in a row. Oklahoma State is 12-12 overall, and 3-7 in conference play. Sean Sutton was named head coach designate under former coach Eddie Sutton. My question is how long should a coach have to turn a program around? Especially if he has been a major part of recruiting and coaching in the past? Sean Sutton is in his 2nd full season as head coach at OSU, and fans are already calling for his head. Attendance has dropped tremendously this season, and the fans are what makes Gallagher-Iba Arena one of the toughest arenas to play in. Mike Holder ( Athletic Director at Oklahoma State ) has come out and said that Sean Sutton's future will be evaluated and determined after the season is completed.

Some people seem to think this may be a revenge factor for how Eddie Sutton finished his career at OSU. Or it could be the fact that Mike Holder didn't have any say so in the hiring of Sean as the head coach. First of all! Eddie Sutton turned that program around and made it what is today, which wasn't much at all before he got there. Second of all! There is no way in HELL that Bill Self would leave what he has now at Kansas to coach at OSU. Some of these OSU fans automatically think they can get Bill Self to leave Lawrence to come to Stillwater. Boone Pickens would have throw a WHOLE lot of money on the table for that to happen. Yes Bill has said he would like to coach at his Alma-Mater, but not right now. There are rumors floating around that Bob Knight will be the next coach at Oklahoma State. I don't think that would happen, but who knows. With Kelvin Sampson fixing to be fired at Indiana Bob Knight could end up there.

I think a coach should have at least 3 years to bring his own players and see how it goes, but then again he had  alot to do with recruiting the players he already has. That is one of the disadvantages of being a Head Coach Designate. GOOD LUCK to Pat Knight! Sean Sutton can coach. After all he did most of the coaching with the the Sweet 16 teams and the Final 4 team from a few years back. I think this situation really stinks. As far as attendance goes I don't think Sean is all to blame. I've heard attendance is down a little bit everywhere. With the price of everything going ( except the wages ) it is hard for the average person to go to a game. People would rather stay at home and watch it on T.V..

The attendance at OU has gone down drastically since Billy Tubbs has left. Kelvin Sampson's style of play was not one to gewk and gawk over. I think once Jeff Capel gets his own players in place the attendence will start to rise again. Willie Warren coming in next year will help alot and if Blake Griffin stays for another year they should improve immensely.

The future for Sean Sutton is really bleek right now. Maybe he would be better off somewhere else, where he can make a fresh start away from Oklahoma State.

Welcome Back to Earth.........Tom!
Feb 04, 2008 | 8:10PM | report this

" Literally" Welcome back to Earth! Last night I saw the BEST defensive performance I have ever seen. I think they are still digging Brady out of the dirt after that last sack last night. 18 knockdowns along with 5 sacks. WOW! Was it arrogance or just a good ole #### whoopin that cost New England the game? The Patriots had a few sparks of life with Wes Welker when he got the ball, but other than that the Patriots really couldn't do anything. Then there was the classless (JERK) loser Belichick going to the locker room before the game ended, and then the tasteless interviews after the game. I wonder if the NFL will fine him for those shananigans. He is the reason why I hate the Patriots.

I heard a really good comment on the radio today about they need to change the name of the University of Phoenix Stadium to Underdog Stadium. Last year Oklahoma lost to Boise, Ohio State lost to Florida. This year Oklahoma lost AGAIN to West Virginia, and the Patriots lost to the Giants. Is this something to look into, or just coincidence? I will try to keep better track of the Cardinals when they are the dogs at home next year and see if there is anything to this or not.

All in all it was a very exciting SuperBowl. It should no doubt be ranked in the top 5 SuperBowls of all time. At least the game made up for some of the commercials they aired. Kudo's to the Giants for adapting to and overcoming the odds stacked against them, and for pulling off one of the biggest upsets in SuperBowl history. Kudo's to David Tyree for holding on to the ball on that great catch. And Congrats. to the 72' Dolphins who still hold the record to themselves for the perfect season.

R.I.P. MLB!!!!!!!!!!
Jan 17, 2008 | 9:23PM | report this

Bud Selig will kill Baseball by 2012. We might as well start making the funeral arrangements now. He has already ran the game into the ground, now all we need is the headstone. This just goes to show that the owners could care less about the steroid problem in baseball. All they want are full seats and homeruns. Bud Selig is a spineless amoeba who wants everyone else to do his job for him. He has had former Senator George Mitchell perform an investigation to find out who is using Steroids and HGH. He is ( for the 2nd time ) having Congress do his dirty work, by listening to testimony of players and trainers say whether they are or have used steroids or HGH. Selig is not the one responsible for bringing drug testing into the league. It was Congress who started that. He knows there is a drug problem but doesn't want to admit it. Heck! He has even ended an MLB All-Star Game in a tie game. What a joke that was. Whats gonna be next? Players tiptoeing through tulips to save a ball from going over the outfield wall? With the way Bud Selig is running Major League Baseball, by the time 2012 gets here the NHL will surpass Baseball in popularity.

I have always thought that Bob Costas would be a great Commish for Baseball. He loves the game. He would put his foot down and clean up the game. He would bring the integrity of the game back to where it used to be, and level the playing field to where any team can get to the Fall Classic. These are perfect reasons why the owners don't want a change in command.

As Fraudgers World Turns!!!!!!!!
Jan 11, 2008 | 10:37PM | report this

We might as well give Roger Clemens a get out of jail free card. I doubt if he will do any time or get into any trouble. This whole debockle is gonna end up like a soap opera. Clemens is sueing McNamee, McNamee is sueing Clemens. All this leads to is, when McNamee and Clemens go up in front of Congress next month they will both say they can't say anything because they are both in litigation. Then a month or two later when all is forgotten they will drop their lawsuits against eachother, then Clemens will pay-off McNamee and they will live happily ever after vacationing in Mexico. I don't know if Clemens is guilty or not. I know that press conference last Monday, and his interview on 60 minutes didn't sway my opinion in either direction. I know there are legal ramifications also, but that recorded phone call didn't prove much of nothing either. If it was me that was accused of taking steroids or HGH I would have been a little bit more livid in my conversation with the accuser. I would have been asking him why did you lie about me, or was it really Lidocaine and B-12 you injected me with.

Is McNamee lieing though? He very well could be. He has lied to the police in St. Petersburg Fla. in 2001 when he was having sex with a possibly drugged women in the swimming pool at the Renaissance Viney Resort. Even though the States attorneys decided not to press charges. McNamee still denied it, even though witnesses and security guards saw him, and he did not stop when confronted by security. I wouldn't know Brian McNamee from Joe Blow down the road if he was standing in front of me, so who do we beleive. All I know is someone is lieing and we will probably never find out who.

I do know one thing Roger Clemens is a heck of a pitcher, and he is a freak of nature when it comes to his workout routine. He can still dominate at times. Even being in his 40's he is throwing more heat than some of the younger pitchers in their 20's. WE not forget though, when he left Boston For Toronto his E.R.A and win loss record dramatically improved. Was he on steroids? I don't know! But for his age, still throwing like he does, it makes you wonder. You tell me!
