How does Jon Lester, the best pitcher in baseball, get shelled by a team with no postseason experience? Nothing the Sox did today went right! Now the Rays have a 2-1 series lead! Fortunately, the Red Sox have mystique on their side. Ever since they came back from that 3-0 deficit in 2004 they've been a different team in October. First they swept the Cardinals to win their first World Series in 86 years. Then they came back from a 3-1 deficit against the Indians in last year's ALCS and went on to win the World Series. Then they beat the Angels, who had the best record in MLB, in the first round of the Playoffs this year. Am I forgetting any other year? Hmmm...nope, that's it. So that settles it! The Red Sox are the new owners of the magic the Yankees once had which makes them unbeatable in the postseason! That pennant will be back in Boston before you have time to blink!
How about the NLCS? The Phillies actually beat up on the Dodgers' bullpen to win the game and grab a 3-1 series lead. Jerks. How dare they try to deny us the drama of MANNY! facing his old team in the World Series? Not a single baseball fan isn't dying to see how that'll play out, but the stupid Phillies are trying to spoil the party. Fortunately, MANNY! was with the Red Sox last year when they were in the same predicament. If anyone knows how to lead his team out of the depths and on to victory it's MANNY! Also, Casey Blake was on the losing end of that series, so you can bet he's hungry to be on the winning side this time.
MANNY! Lowe! Torre! Nomah! All destined to meet the boys from Beantown in the Fall Classic! It's inevitable! Don't try to fight it!
Argh. My head hurts. I need to sleep.
P.S. In case any of you are wondering why my logic resembles a 12-year-old's, go back and read this post.
I'm a Chicago sports fan. The one sport I'm truly passionate about is baseball, and I root for both the Cubs and the White Sox. The NFL and NHL are fun too, though I'm still fairly new to the latter. I used to love the NBA, but I outgrew it. I'm not a fan of college sports or any individual sports. When one of my teams isn't playing I'm a big proponent of rooting for the underdog.
