Thanks, Tommy Bowden. You know, I was sitting here watching some pregame Monday Night Football talk when I started flipping thru the channels. So, I switch over to ESPN 2 and see College Football Live. I catch a quote from Bowden.
" We won. That's more than I can say about Lloyd Carr." Son of a ####. I guess Bowden was asked a question about why his team didn't beat Furman more handily. Instead of taking the high road, he takes a shot at Carr for losing to Appalachian State.
Am I upset he took a shot at my favorite's school's coach? You're damn right I am. It's one thing if fans or us bloggers call out coaches or players. But for a coach of a major BCS school to call out another coach like that? That's absolute bush league. It's all fun and games when I read post after post about Lloyd being overrated or Michigan flopping. That's fine, that's why we're on here. What was Bowden's motivation? #### envy my friends, serious #### envy.
( Here comes the rant, enjoy) You see, Mr. Bowden suffers from a serious case of #### envy. Tommy will never be as good as his daddy, Bobby Bowden. Hell, he's the second best coach amongst his siblings. His brother Terry had an undefeated season in the SEC! THE SEC! What has brilliant Tommy done in the ACC? He has won ZERO ACC championships. Zero. The football powerhouses that are Maryland and Wake Forest have won ACC championships. In the two years the ACC has had an ACC championship game, guess how many times Clemson has APPEARED in the game? ZERO. At least you're consistent Tommy, congrats!
The #### envy is sad, really. Now that ol' ballcoach Steve Spurrier is beginning to show serious signs of ruling the state of South Carolina, Tommy is toast. Tommy got the Clemson job for basically two reasons. #1 He had turned Tulane into a pretty nice squad even going undefeated in 1999. ( Probably by playing teams like Furman all season, huh Tommy? Not so easy in the ACC, huh?) #2 Oh, HE'S BOBBY BOWDEN'S SON. Anybody want to tell me this numbnut would be where he's at if his daddy didn't pull some strings along the way? Didn't think so.
Let's compare the great Tommy to the man he kicked while he was down. Lloyd is on the end of his road, I'll give you that. BUT Mr. Carr has WON 5 ( that's 5 more than zero Tommy) Big ten titles and a share of a national championship. So you want to compare now Tommy?
So in summary, Tommy has #### envy of: Bobby Bowden, Terry Bowden, Steve Spurrier, Lloyd Carr, every male blogger on this site, Ryan Seacrest, my two week old nephew ( I knew I'd find a reason to get him in a post soon) and any other male you can think of.
Tommy, you're the reason why you give bloggers something to talk about. All you had to do was take the high road Tommy. You might want to start worrying about your own job before you start critiquing some other coaches job performance.
So, ya with me? Was Tommy's remark uncalled for? Does he have serious #### envy? Some things are better left unsaid, right Tommy?
Hoit, that was bush league what T. Bowden said. He may only be the third best coach of his siblings. And what was it exactly that the Old Ball Coach said about Bowden that was a memorable smackdown? If T. Bowden wants to run smack, he better win first; otherwise STFU!!!
The OBC will rule the state of South Carolina once the Gamecocks reach the SEC title game against LSU this season. Yes, the Cocks WILL beat Florida at home later in the season and win the SEC East.

T Bowden must have #### envy...he sounds like he was castrated...oh wait, isn't that his peewee bro Terry?
In any case....Hoit, this is a serious slam against Carr. Say this about Carr, as much as I think his coaching skills are a bit antiquated, he has always maintained extroadinary class and is the perfect gentleman.
Bowden is a major BCS coach? I disagree...he isn't a major BCS coach.... yet. Yeah he's in the ACC, but come on, he hasn't done anything that warrants that smack. And here I thought Les was bad....Tommy two shoes takes the cake.
Nice flippin rant, and well deserved!

People rag on Spurrier for his mouth but at least he's never entirely disrespectful like that. If he says something, it's because he beats you on the playing field.
Thanks Nost. I still don't understand Bowden's motivation for making that comment. What an ####.
What has Carr ever done to Bowden though husker? Tommy might want to worry about contending in the ACC before he goes telling other coaches how to do their job.
BC is looking good bosox. Bowden will probably lead Clemson to the MVC Computer Bowl or some prestigious bowl game like that. He'll probably go 8-4 and think he's the best coach ever.
Wow Jon, you've got the Spurrier led Cocks upsetting Florida? That's a tall challenge, but I don't underestimate a Spurrier led team.
Now we're slamming all the Bowden's Lisa? Cool with me, Rev will enjoy it also. Bowden has done NOTHING to critique anyone's job performance.
One thing I have to clarify:
I was stating that Bowden is a coach at a conference with BCS ties. I wasn't saying he was an elite coach or anything along those lines. He's not anything close to being a factor in important games.
Wagering on my blog? Excellent, I'll go with whatever team is going against Clemson. We can bank on Tommy losing at least 3 games a year.
Spurrier has earned his right to talk some smack every now and then Rev, you're correct. I do not remember any big game that Bowden has won, probably because his teams don't even qualify for important games.
Hoit, I know it, you know it, woman know it, but please discuss in detail just what #### envy is and what do people who have it do with their short comings. ( here's our chance to really let it fly. I can't wait)
They don't get along now, that's for sure kp. I guess Bowden was asked pretty much why they didn't destroy Furman. He fired back that response, which came out of the blue. As far as I know, these guys never had any problems, until now.
Did you hear that somehow Carr and Russell Crowe are best buds? I saw that on PTI yesterday, interesting partnership between those two. Crowe's got Carr's back, watch your words Bowden.
Yeah, they made that comparison yesterday. Both are a little ornery, stuck in their ways and they don't care what you think about it. match.com couldn't have found a better pair!
I would much rather have Lloyd Carr coaching the Tigers than Tommy Bowden. We won't get over the ACC hump until Tommy is gone, and that's the truth. He should have been fired years ago right after the season that the Tigers won the Peach Bowl. If we're lucky, we'll make it to the Gator Bowl this year (ACC #3).
Born and raised in the great state of MEE-CHI-GAN. Had a one year stint in Indianapolis where I grew to love all things Hoosier and watched the Colts bring home a Super Bowl trophy. My primary teams remain the Tigers, Pistons, Lions, Red Wings, and Wolverines and I wouldn't trade any of them. Still follow NASCAR, but it's not the same without the black number 3. My favorite sport by far is college basketball. I'll watch pretty much any game between November-Febr uary and March is the pinnacle of it all with the MADNESS. It can't be beat.
