Just Say No to Condi; No To Jeb
May 25, 2006 | 8:30AM | report this

First off, let me just say that this is NOT a political blog.  What I write is for ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES and just for fun. Okay?  Got it?  Good

Now, on to the the blog.  I'm sure by now, most of you heard that Florida Governor Jeb Bush was approached in possibly replacing current commish Paul Tags to be the next commissioner of the NFL.  Then, only a few months prior, during the SB, Condoleezza Rice advised that she wouldn't mind being the commish someday.  Horrible, HORRIBLE move.  And here's my thoughts on why:

I don't know about you guys, but there are only a few things named Bush that I like.  There's Reggie Bush.  Then there's Bush's Baked Beans.  I even liked Bushwick Bill from the Geto Boys back in the day.  But that's about as far as I go for things that I like with the "Bush" anywhere in the name.  The NFL has one Bush already.  No need to bring in another.

Condi's a bad choice, because every time I think of her, I think of a delicious mexican dish from the Hacienda, one of my favorite restaurants.  Every time someone says her name, I'll think it's time to eat.  Not that I have anything against her.  I just know that I'll never think of football with her as the commish.

You see, people love football as well as other sports.  It's a way to get away from it all.  When things are going wrong in your life, or even in the world, people turn to sports as a scapegoat from life's everyday issues.  Even if it's just for a few hours, that little bit of time brings our sanity back.  It's our "me" time, to think not about the war or the soaring gas prices, but to think about what our favorite teams are gonna do this season, why they aren't being respected by analysts, or why they are just horrendously bad.  Mixing politics with sports is like oil and vinegar together,or adding sugar to a gasoline tank.  Bad, bad mix.

If either of these guys become the next big wig, here is my speculations of what may happen when they are running things:

* Texas will get 6 more franchises: 1 more each in Dallas and Houston, San Antonio, Amarillo, Austin, and one for Jeb's hometown of Midland.  Each year, the Super Bowl will be played in all six of the stadiums in order to fund the stadiums and the existence of each team.  Teams that L.A. gets during tenture: 0

* Super Bowls will be rigged and Pro Bowl ballots will be tampered.  Expect teams that you would never expect to be champions become dynasties, while players you have never heard of a day in your life make the all star ballot (sorry, I had to go there.  All in good fun, though).

* The following teams will either go to the Super Bowl, or win every year: Dolphins, Jaguars, Browns (Condi is a Browns fan), Cowboys, Texans, and the other 4 TX expansion teams.  They also will have the weakest strength of schedule each and every year, while their division rivals have the toughest.

*As a player, expect to miss a few hundred thousand dollars from yuor paycheck.  The reason?  To the building fund.  We still don't know what they are building yet.

*Steroids to be legal.  Remember, the Bush family owned the Rangers, and at a time when most of the players were taking steroids for the competitive advantage.  Lying and cheating is the American sporting way, right?!

Okay, okay.  Maybe I took it too far.  I was on a roll.  Seriously, though.  I think that whoever runs the NFL once Tags is gone, will have to really do some serious damage in order to mess up an empire that the NFL is today.  No matter who it is, things have been good for a while now.  But the bottom line is, we need a separation of the two worlds.  Trying to put them together just won't work well, because they'll forever be intertwined afterwards.

Here are some of my potential candidates for the next NFL Commisioner:

Angelina Jolie-  The NFL's market is already extremely large and popular.  But with her as the commish, I'd guarantee the NFL's profit would go up 200% with the men.  In the same sense, she would lose over 200% of her female audience, mainly because a lot of women thinks she's a homewrecker, but I'm sure that's a double plus for men who have nagging wives trying to learn football while the game is on.  Say those two words, and it's a instant turnoff for most females.  It a win-win for men.  Good to look at, with no women around

Shannon Sharpe-  This guy would give you the funniest press conferences and sound bytes you ever heard from any commissioner ever.  He would bring a lot of much needed laughter and comedy to a sport so many people take so seriously.  But I also think Shannon would be a good disciplinarian.  One rule I think Shannon would slack up on:  TD celebrations.  I don't know about you guys, but I thought for the most part, the celebrations was funny.  After all, football IS a source for entertainment, right?  As the co-founder of excessive trashing talking, I think he would agree with me and therefore let the player have a little more fun, as long as it's not intended to mock a player from another team.

Michael Irvin-  Anything to get him off the NFL Coundown crew.  Listening to him talk about a bunch of nothing makes me sick!!!!

Bill Cowher- One of the popular coaches in the NFL.  Knows his stuff, very respected by players and coaches.  And with a  mean mug like that, who would have the guts to challange anything he says??  We all know when Bill talks, he sprays it.  No one wants to be the next victim of his #### shower.

Lawrence Taylor-  With him, you know the NFL will never be boring, even in the offseason.  We all know LT's famous game plan for Sunday's games.  Buying strippers for opposing players the night before, so they will be tired and unfocused.  What a strategy!!  Imagine what other good "ideas" good ol' LT could come up with...........

Okay.  Just kidding.  But we can all laugh about this, can't we?

Interesting Thoughts In My Mind
Apr 26, 2006 | 9:19AM | report this

Here are some of this week's interesting thoughts that I've had:

Brett:  Thanks, but no thanks.  As I said before, I have much love for you.  You're one of my favorite players in the whole wide world of sports.  But who do you think you're kidding?  Jason Whitlock was on to something when we wrote that article about you.  You thought you could force the Pack's hand and make them release you.  But it didn't work, now, did it??  Then they tried to throw bait.. I mean, Arrington at you, to make you come back quicker.  But that didn't pan out well, either.  Everyone knows you're 28 TD's behind Marino for all time TDs.  Only a fool would be crazy enough to fall for that act you pulled.  Now you got a bunch of people who aren't so fond of you anymore, and could care less what you do this season.  I just hope you got it in you to show folks you still got a little bit of gas left in the tank (Speaking of gas left in the tank....never mind, I may get depressed)

Keith Hernandez-  What cave did you crawl out of?  Do you realize this is 2006?  You're a jerk.  Not many men would be offended by your comments, mainly because it doesn't have anything to do with them.  But if I saw you walking down the street, I would slap the taste out of your mouth.  I mean, what did you think the the#### was gonna do in the dugout?  Strip stark naked and cause a distraction to the players (although I'm sure most guys wouldn't mind it)?  Seriously.  Women in the 21st Century has jobs of all kinds, including laborers, doctors, and get this, sports journalists.  Please, take your wooden club and your, "I am man, women are inferior" attitude back to the Stone Age with Fred and Barney and have a nice life.

Ray Lewis- I already wasted my time on you before about your issues, so all I'm gonna say is SHUT UP!  No one cares that you want to roam the sidelines freely like you once used to.  Wanna know why?  Two reasons.  One, because you are an aging LB who is not the same as 4-5 years ago.  So based on that alone, you won't be as dominant as you have been in the past.  And second, most people know that this is about money more then about defensive scheme.  It's no secret that you are short on cash because of a pending civil suit, and need one last big payday in order to stay afloat.  I know it sounds harsh, but I'm just being honest.   The icing on the cake is when you told ESPN that you never asked to be traded.  Yet your team's owner, head coach and GM all have had interviews saying that you DID in fact asked to be traded.  If I were Ozzie, you'd have a 1st class ticket out of town.  But I'm not Ozzie and he won't do that, so we'll see how the season plays out.  Until then, please be quiet.

Ricky Williams-  People of the blogging world. Take a good look at Ricky Williams.  Ricky is a prime example of, "When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong".  He just can't get right.  I don't think anyone was surprised by this.  And I think it's safe to say that most people were beyond caring about it.  Personally, I think it's sad.  I'd do whatever I had to in order to stay clean if I were making millions of dollars.  Nothing would come in between me and my millions.  I would never participate in an episode of Fear Factor, because I'm afraid of heights,I can barely swim, and I'm NOT eating any damn bugs!  But if they were giving out millions to do it, I would seriously reconsider.  I may chew a tarantula or two if it guaranteed 7+ figures in my bank account.  Get right, Ricky!  Get right!

Reggie Bush- If Reggie didn't take an illegal substance or kill anyone during his time at USC, then why are we discussing his Heisman Trophy possibly being taken away from him?  I know the technical answer, but which is the lesser of two evils here?  The Bush family, or the NCAA?  All the money the NCAA gets through bowl games and other sponsors, yet you get mad because they move into a house that you assume they can't afford?  I can name a whole lot of people who live beyond their means everyday.  And with players who are projected superstars, you'd be surprised how much you can get on credit, just off of name alone.  Did anyone have this issue when LeBron's mamma went out and bought a Hummer that looked like she got it from Pimp My Ride?  I think not.  Leave the Bush family alone.  If it were your family, I'd love to see you turn it down.

Honorable Mentions-  Did anyone hear the NBA MVP songs that Mike and Mike came up with on their show?  Classics.  I couldn't stop laughing.  The Kobe song was the best, followed by the LeBron song and then the Nash song.  They need that to be an automatic download on ESPN.com.  They'd be surprised how many hits they would get.  Most of them would probably be from me because I'm corny, but I still thought it was funny.

Speaking of Mike and Mike, I really liked the whole Marriage Madness idea.  I was kinda jealous.   I wish I could've participated in the contest.  But since I'm married already, I'm gonna go out on the limb and assume that I wasn't eligible.    On second thought, I don't know how great of an idea that really would've been for my wedding.  I'm a Ravens fan and my husband's a Steelers fan..... Oil and water just doesn't mix.  Knowing our families, a fight would've broke out over who's the better safety: Polamalu, or Reed.

Who's Your Team's First Round Bust??
Apr 25, 2006 | 7:48AM | report this

The time has finally come!!!!  For 2 1/2 months, we have talked about it until we became blue in the face.  It's finally here.  The 2006 NFL Draft (I know you can't contain yourselves, but hold all applause).  Yes boys and girls, it's the time of year that gives us something to get happy about, because it gives football fans something else to talk about for the next month, until minicamps start.

I want to know who do you consider a first round bust from your favorite team.  I made this blog, so I guess I should go first.

My 1st round bust will be none other then........drum roll, please......... Travis Taylor!!!

Okay, folks.  I know what you're thinking.  Travis Taylor?  She has got to be crazy!  Last time I checked, Kyle Boller is on the Baltimore Ravens.  I get that.  And I'll tell you why I DIDN'T pick Boller in a sec.  But first, let me break down to you Travis Taylor's tenture as a Baltimore Raven:

College: Florida

Drafted: 10th overall pick, Baltimore Ravens in 2000

In 5 seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, Travis Taylor had 204 rec., 2758 yds., 15 TDs in in 67 games

Overall career: 254 rec., 3362 yds., 19 TDs in 83 games

I'm no NFL guru, but this is all we got from what was supposed to be one of the best WR's in the 2000 draft?  Thanks, but no thanks.  I know  there are a few of you who knows that this offense has been anemic for years, pretty much Taylor's whole career there.  But there are a couple of things I can say to defend that.  One, in 2001 when the Ravens had Elvis Grbac, the offense was ranked 14th in total yards per game, and even 16th in total yards the year before, during their SB season.  I'm sure the likes of Quadry Ismail, Shannon Sharpe, and Brandon Stokley couldn't complain about getting the ball with this anemic offense.  Also, regarding the 2001 season, Jamal Lewis went down with a knee injury that had our backfield blessed with the likes of Jason Brookings and Terry Allen.  Taylor only contributed with 42 rec for 560 yds.  In a season were the rushing avg went from 8th in 2000 to 25th in 2001, that should've gotten him 1,000 yds easy.  But he was unreliable and Stokley, Ismail, and Sharpe received more balls.  Case in point, Taylor didn't live up to round 1 expectations.

The reason why I didn't pick Boller is for a number of reasons.  Lets take a look at his overall performance as a Raven:

College: California

Drafted: 19th overall pick in 2003

2005 stats: 293 att, 171 cmp for 1799 yds. 58.4 cmp %, 11 TDs, 12 INTs, QB rating of 71.7 in 9 games

Overall stats: 981 att, 545 cmp for 5618 yds. 55.6 cmp %, 31 TDs, 32 INTs, QB rating of 69.2 in 36 games

Looking at Boller's numbers, they are below average and do not show any real improvement since he came in the league in 2003.  However, there are a few main factors that do not prove he is a first round bust.  First, Boller was handed the starting job on a silver platter.  When Boller was drafted, the coaching staff advised that it would be an open competition between Blake, Redman and Boller.  When Blake decided that he wasn't interested in the competition and left the team, that only left Redman as the "veteran QB" on the team.  The job instantly became Boller's to lose.  There was no QB that helped him in his development and the transition to the NFL.

Also, the decline in the offensive line.  Since Jamal rushed for 2066 yds in 2003 (Boller's rookie season), his rushing avg has gone down every year.  From 5.3 yds in 2003, to 4.3 yds in 2004 and finally to a horrible 3.4 yds last season.  The offensive line is slow and old, and pass protection has gotten worse.  With Rabach signing to the Redskins last season, Ogden and Mulitalo getting slower and Orlando Brown getting older, the offensive line played a fair role in the inept play of the offense overall.

With the possible addition of McNair, Boller can get a second chance  by sitting on the bench to actually LEARN what it's like to be a QB, similar to what will happen if Harrington gets traded to Miami.  And hey, if Harrington can get another chance, then so can Boller.

Okay, enough about who my team's first round bust is.  Tell me who yours is and why.

Since I've Been Gone.....
Apr 11, 2006 | 2:06PM | report this

Hey everyone!!!!!  I just want to say sorry and how much I missed you guys in the blogging community.  I've been sooo busy, that I've had no time for even myself.  So, I decided to spew off a few things that's been going on with me, and with what's going on in the sports world.  I hope to keep this as brief as possible, but I have a lot of ground to cover.

First off, I've decided to go back to school.  It's not college, but it's broadcasting school.  I told all of y'all out there that I wanted to be the next Bonnie Bernstein, and I intend on getting to that level at some point one day. I've been focused with that, so watch out, world!!  Here I come

Secondly, I've decided to spend just about all of my spare time writing a book about.....what else??  Football.  From time to time, I usually send out my thoughts about the Ravens to my friends and family, and they really find it enjoying (so they tell me, anyway).  I know what you're thinking.  This chick can't even spell properly, so how's she gonna write a book.  Well, spell check is a wonderfuI thing.  I get so sick of my girlfriends asking me about this, or that, so I decided to write a book and get women to understand the game a little better, in a way that ONLY women cen relate.  So guys, look out for my book when it's done.  Good gift to get your girl who wants to learn more about that wonderful pigskin sport.

Third, for some reason, my son's teacher decided to give his class a book report due EVERY Wednesday (my son, by-the-way, is 7 years old),so in addition to going to school and writing, I've been helping my son with his weekly book report.  But that's okay.  School (for the both of us) is out in 2 more months.

Okay, enough about me.  That was just a recap of what I've been doing.  So, let me put my 2 cents in on everything I can think of that I missed discussing with you guys on the net:

I love Brett Lorenzo Favre.  This I must confess.  But you're being an ####.  Stop holding Green Bay hostage and just make up your mind!!!!!  Do something, either retire and live on a farm, or come back and play mediocre for one more year.  I don't think anyone cares anymore at this point.  However, to play devil's advocate, if I were Brett, I'd probably do the same thing.  In my mind, anyone stupid enough to give Favre that kind of power, to make up his mind whenever he's ready, deserves it.  Who wouldn't take advantage of a legal situation if the opportunity arose (and I say legal, cause some of y'all are sick)??

* T.O.-  Goodness, who cares..Never mind

*Barry Bonds- Okay, if you want to play the race card, that's cool if that's your style.  But I'm black, and I have to admit, I think a lot of this you put on yourself.  The change in your body, the sudden rise in hr's at bats, the "gifts" you got from Balco, your trainer getting arrested, the grand jury testimony....I could go on and on about why I think Barry has dug his own grave.  but I won't.  Because know there are a lot of people who will never see it that way.  Oh, and by-the-way, your show's not that great.  Actually kinda boring and sympathetic.  Guess that can happen when you have editing rights.

* I don't think I've been this excited about the NFL Draft in quite a while.  New Orleans holds the key to EVERYTHING that happens in the first round.  Never do I remember a time where the pick of one team determines the outcome of what's going to happen.  Can April 29th get here already?  My TiVo is set!!!

Speaking of the draft, Vince Young will do alright in the NFL.  Y'all get off his back!  Yeah, I know he played most of his snaps in shotgun formation and yadda yadda.  But with the right mentor, he has the potential to be something special.  I don't see him sliding past the 10th pick in the draft.  He's no Mike Vick.  So all you Young haters, get it out of your system now, before it's too late.

* I like the move of Culpepper  to the Fins.  They surprised the hell out of me last season at 9-7 with Frerotte as their QB.  Imagine what they can do with a healthy Daunte.  Kinda scary.

* I hope everyone enjoyed Opening Day for their respected baseball teams.  Unfortunately, by the 3rd game of season, no one showed up at Camden Yards to see the Orioles play the Devil Rays.  Mainly because we suck.  Even though they killed Tampa Bay the day before with a 16-6 win, they lost the next night 2-0.  Again, Angelos, PLEASE sell the team!!!!!!

To Air McNair:  Management in Tenn. is treating you like a step child.  You don't need that! Although I understand they don't want to pay you that kind of money if you get hurt, come to a team that will appreciate you.  We will give you what you're looking for, a chance at redemption.  The Ravens have a nice cushiony spot, just for you.  Ask Kerry. We told him we didn't want him, because we're waiting for you to be set free.  What's that?  The Ravens play the Titans on Nov. 12th IN Tenn?  Revenge is sweet my friend (yeah, I'm sucking up.  This town needs a QB that can make us respected, dammit!!).

Say what you will about my man Pedro.  But he has huge coconuts he's carrying around.  To hit Guillen like that, and KNOWING he's no longer a pitcher for the American League shows his fearlessness.  Do I have to remind you guys of the Old Man Zimmer incident??  Okay, maybe I took it too far, but he's alright in my book.  Other then that S Curl on his head, I mean.  With heart like that, he gets a vote from me!!

Oh, one more thing, CONGRATS Lady Terps!!!!

The people of MD would like to thank you for bringing some type of winning to the state, since we haven't seen much of it in a while.  With the expection of the Skins going to the playoffs last year, Ravens did bad last year, O's stink, Nats are still new, Wizards are still the Wizards and the men's Terps have done much of nothing since their Champtionship title.  Thanks for making us Marylanders proud of something.

Ray Lewis: The Face of the Ravens No More
Feb 14, 2006 | 1:55PM | report this

Once upon a time.....In 1996, Baltimore received the 26th overall draft choice, from San Fransisco.  Ozzie Newsome and Co. selected Ray Lewis, from The U.  From day one, Ray Lewis' presence was felt, becoming a force on his new team.  The organization needed a face that all would remember, kinda like Brett Favre to the Packers, or Johnny Unitas to the Baltimore Colts.  Ray Lewis willingly accepted that responsibility.

The people of Baltimore were happy.  They were ecstatic.  They finally had a football sport the purple and black.  Ray loved the city of Baltimore, and the city of Baltimore loved him back.

Ray's career blossomed quickly.  The Ravens went to the Super Bowl in 2001, under second year head coach Brian Billick.  Ray was the MVP of the game.  He then received not one, but two NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards. He has numerous Pro Bowl nods, and has been on the All Pro team selection as well.

A couple of years ago, Ray Lewis received a contract extension with a $19 million signing bonus.  They made him on of the highest paid defensive players in the NFL.  He was to retire as a Raven.  Then, something went wrong.

No one knows exactly when this took place, but there had become a split within the locker room.  Some players felt like the "superstars" were getting better treatment, unfair to the other guys on the team.  This started a divided locker room that is not fixed as we speak.  Ed Reed came along, and soon started to take Ray's place as "The Force" on the Baltimore Ravens defense.  Ed and Ray were once extremely tight.  Now, since the 2005 season started, Ed moved his locker to the end of the locker room, away from his "homeboy" Ray-Ray.  Then, the unthinkable happened.  Ray Lewis decided one day that he doesn't want to be the face of the organization anymore.  He starts to deny interviews with the local media.  He calls Kyle Boller out, indirectly (see Shannon Sharpe). He starts to turn his back on his fans, on his teammates, on Ozzie and even his new homeboy, owner Steve Bisciotti.  He is now demanding a trade, simply because the Ravens won't give him a, get this folks, $50 million dollar signing bonus.

Is this what the NFL has come to?  Nothing but money?  Whatever happened to the fans that supported these players from day one?  They don't have a say in this?  Whatever happened to being loyal to your teammate's commitments to win?  After all, you're getting paid to do what you love to do, and that's play football.  I can recall a certain situation where Ray Lewis was involved in some kind of trouble, right after the 2000 Supr Bowl.  Anyone recall that?

Not to bring up old situations (especially since he wasn't convicted of killing the people involved), but I do recall correctly that everyone called this man a Murderer...a Monster...I can remember peole saying, "Lock him up, and throw away the key".  All because he was at the wrong place, at the wrong time.  Everyone talked abd about him, that is, except for the die hard Ravens fans.  The fans and the organization had his back like no one else had.  They supported him through thick and thin.  People attempted to make jokes about Ray, as well as the organization (even til this day), yet, we didn't care.  He was one of us.  Let some people off the street tell it, he acted like a true Baltimorean anyway (since B-More is usually in the Top 5 in the country for murders).  We loved him, and he loved us back....or so we thought.

What has become of this man that people once loved and respected, even with his skeletons.  Jealousy and greed.  These two things break up most business relationships in the NFL.  Look at the Terrell Owens situation.  Enough said.  However, if we as fans are going to talk about T.O., then Ray's name needs to be mentioned as well.  He has become the reason why his locker room has been divided.  He has received star treatment, yet that was not enough.  Give you an example.  Lewis  "hurt himself" during the Chicago  Bears game.  Yet, he leaves to get "surgery", not by the team doctors, but by another doctor in FL.  He has advised the Ravens that he is rehabbing in FL as well, which we know, most teams are dead set against.  Then, he shows up on ESPN at a college football game, weeks later.  What gives??

It's time for Ravens fans, and other people, to face the music.  The league is getting bigger and bigger by the years, and those players that you thought will always be there, may not be there anymore.  During traing camp, Mr. Lewis "picked and chose" who to sign autographs for, which was about 10 people in total, out of thousands.  He looked unhappy.  But Ed Reed, the 2004 DPOY, was the last in the line, signing every single person's item that needed to be signed.  Whle Ray's stock has declined drastically, Reed's has risen to the top, because of this love and attention he shows to the fans.

It has been reported that Revens will only receive a 2nd round pick for Lewis.  My opinion?  Take the 2nd rounder and run like a bat out of hell.  Get rid of this newfound cancer.  Team chemistry is extremely important.  And while Ray isn't the only problem child in the locker room (Jamal Lewis and Chris McCalister are also problem childs), he is the most noted, and most popular.

So go ahead Ray.  We wish you tons of luck.  Hope you get the $50 mil you THINK you deserve.  We have a new guy in Ed Reed, that wants to be here, and is ready to take over the spot you abruptly abandoned.  Oh, and by-the-way, don't let the doorknob hit you where the good Lord split you, on your way out!!!!

Vince Young: The Next Mike Vick....Or Better???
Feb 10, 2006 | 9:34AM | report this

Vince Young has decided to enter the 2006 NFL Draft. Most draft boards have him going as the #3 overall pick, to the Tennessee Titans.

The NFL has had their fair share of the "scrambling quarterback". We know that majority of these QB's are of African American descent.  Vince Young has the potential to be the next big phenom in the highly preferable class of quarterbacks, preferable in the meaning of mobility and the ability to make plays with his arm and/or legs.

The question that I have is, is Vince Young destined to become the next Michael Vick, who is at a stand still in his career (possibly due to the change in the system.  Vick has admitted to being "lost" with the West Coast system), or is Young the next coming of Randall Cunningham or Steve McNair (in their primes, respectively), with a possible Super Bowl ring in the mix?  I've decided to pull both player's college numbers for comparison(since Young is not yet in the league).

 Vince Young Stats 2003-2005:

Avg QB rating: 140.9

Rushing Avg: 6.9 yards per season

Avg passing att: 239 per season

Avg passing cmp: 148 per season

Avg TDs: 15 per season

Avg completion pct: 61%

Avg INT's: 9 per season

Total offensive yards in Rose Bowl: 467 yards

Michael Vick's stats 1999-2000 (reshirted in 1998):

Avg QB rating: 145.3

Rushing avg: 5.1 per season

Avg passing att: 114 per season

Avg passing cmp: 64 per season

Avg TDs: 7 TDs per season

Avg completion pct: 55%

Avg INTs: 4 per season

Total offensive yards in Sugar Bowl: 322 yards

Keep in mind, I'm well aware that Mike Vick only played two seasons of college football, where as Vince Young played 3 seasons.  So, initially, this may seem unfair to most people because Young played a season longer.  However, although Vick only played 2 seasons, he was good enough to Dan Reeves and the Atlanta Falcons to be the #1 overall pick in the 2001 draft with these same stats.

Looking at these numbers, a couple of things caught my attention.  Young's passing attempts to Vick's.   Although Vick excelled over Young in TDs, and Quarterback ratings, Young has a better completion percentage, along with a better rushing avg then Vick's.

Vick's current NFL stats doesn't shout "Hall of Famer" to anyone, but most fans like him for his electrifying spark of energy to the team, as well as his fan base.  He was once dubbed to be the Most Exciting Player in the NFL.  My question to you is, will Vick continue to be the reigning king as the MEP in the league, or will Young dethrone him, once he becomes a full time starter in the NFL (which may be a couple of years, if he goes to Tenn.  There is speculation that the Titans want McNair to restructure his contract as well as start for the team.  Possibly to mentor Young?  Hmmmm)?  You decide.  Let me know your opinions.

Sick and Tired...........
Feb 07, 2006 | 5:56AM | report this

I just want to make a couple of comments regarding this weekend's Super Bowl.  I've been reading an awful lot of blogs regarding this, and honestly, I am tired of the back and forth between bloggers.  So I'm going to lay it on the table on both sides of the ball.

Seattle, I know you guys feel robbed.  But you need to suck it up and get ready for next year.  Although the players may feel it wasn't a fair game, they haven't publicly come out and said so.  So follow suit, and LET IT GO!!!  We all know (some Steelers fans included) that there were some horrible calls made.  But as a Super Bowl contender, it was your responsibility to overcome all the adversity and take the refs out of the game.  Jeremy Stevens proved Porter right, at least for a day, and you missed SIX POINTS on kicks that your kicker could usually make.  You have a good team, and if Alexander is back, then more then likely you'll be back.  You're in the NFC, so it shouldn't be too hard. Just congratulate the Steelers and MOVE ON!!!!!  Such as life!

Pittsburgh, some of you fans are a trip.  You sit here and call Seattle "whiners" and all of that, but let it had been YOUR team that had all the bads calls and lost the game....It would've been WWIII out there.  All of you know that you would've called a conspiracy, and the country would've had your back.  Another thing, I'm glad the game is over now, so all of you fake bandwagon fans can go back to rooting for your REAL teams.  And for some of you bloggers that have added salt to the Seahawks wounds, how classy of you.  Just classy.  Put yourselves in their shoes, for one minute.  I bet you angry Steelers bloggers are the same ones that went to the refs house and trashed it after the divisional round, even though YOU WON!!!!

So, with that said, we all have opinions about the game.  I'm not a fan of neither team.  But the going back and forth doesn't change the outcome of the game.  Even if the NFL comes out and admits to all of the mistakes it made, they won't replay the game.  #### happens sometimes.  Now, the slate is clean, and all of our teams have to strive for next year.  So good luck to everyone for the 2006 season.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of Super Bowl XL
Feb 06, 2006 | 9:06AM | report this

Greetings all.  I'm sure we've all watched the Super Bowl, and disected it into a million pieces, thanks to TiVos and DVRs.  This game was pretty boring, to say the least.  I'm not a big Rolling Stones fan, but I do appreciate their music, and they were better then the actual Super Bowl game itself.  Think I'm the one only one who thinks so?  Read this article when you're done.  So without further ado, I bring you my good, bad and ugly of Super Bowl XL.

The Good-

Pittsburgh- Their execution was by far, the good in the Super Bowl. On 3rd and 28, Big Ben had all the time in the world to deliver a pass to Hines Ward.  Michael Boulware was there to make a play on it, but Hines is just an excellent receiver that rarely drops a ball when it comes his way.  The trickery play was a given, especially with Pittsburgh, but it was a very good play that continued to fire up the team, and keep them abreast on the scoreboard.  Willie Parker's 75 yard TD run was one of the best plays of the night.  I look at it over and over, and still wonder how that play was executed so well, when two defenders could've possibly made a play.  Excellent blocking on the Steelers part.

Seattle- They had a very good game plan in the first half to keep the chains moving.  I think Seattle, starting out, had a really good chance to beat the Steelers.  The Steelers D did not play like their usual selves, simply because Hassleback and Co. kept them honest with quick slants and taking three step drops, a couple of times taking one step drops.  They definitely had the momentum starting out the first half of the game.

The Bad-

Pittsburgh- Their defense was not up to par last night.  Seattle has one of the best offensive lines in the league, and they kept Hassleback clean for much of the night, although he was sacked 3 times.  Even though the Seahawks had 7 holding penalties, "Blitzburgh" didn't look as aggresive as they did in previous weeks.  Also, Ben, Bus and the crew took forever to get something going.  Nineteen minutes before your first 1st down?  Big Ben with a QB rating under 23? The last time Pittsburgh looked like that, Ben was on the bench and the Maddox/Batch combo was on the field.  That was hard (and boring) to watch.

Seattle- Clock management and dropped passes killed this team in a big way.  Matt Hassleback changed the play at the line of scrimmage twice before one snap, eating up over 10 seconds of clock, in which they had no timeouts left.  Another situation, when they were trying to move the ball in the last minute, no one scrambled to get back to the huddle so they can run the next play.  Did they forget they needed 2 scores in order to stay in the game, or what?  Jeremy Stevens seemed to prove loud mouth Porter right.  Everytime he went to catch a ball, he looked away from the ball, and into the eyes of the defender, missing the catch.  He didn't have complete control of the ball at any time, including the TD catch he had.  Holmgren needs to look into this during the offseason.

The Ugly-

Poor officiating-  Before I get any hate comment from any of you, I am not saying that this game is the deciding factor simply because of bad calls.  The Seahawks made too many other mistakes to ignore.  Between the dropped passes, missed FG's and the 3rd and 28th conversion, I simply can't say that the zebras did one in for the Hawks.  But I will say this needs to be adressed in some way.  This whole postseason has been nothing but bad calls.  From the pass interference called against NE in Denver, to the interception being overturned in the Steelers-Indy game.  I'm sick and tired of it.  It may never change, but I will say that after this post season, I really have lost my passion with the NFL.  Not a lot, but just a little.  Something needs to be done.  If I was playing in any of the Super Bowls from here on out, I would be asking for Ed Hockuli's officiating crew from now on.

Joey Porter-  Boy, he's so lucky that there are 10 other players on the field that can back up his trash talking. That dude talked so much #### the whole week, yet did nothing.  Mr. Porter had a staggering 3 tackles all night.  Not surprising.  His numbers are never huge (111 tackles over two years).  I'm sure that he is an exceptional emotional leader for the Steelers, but his attitude makes me wonder how many people on his team actual like him?  There was a comment made from a Steeler during the 2004 season that, although everyone didn't like each other in the locker room, they came together and they played hard each week.   I wonder who they were referring to.  Hmmmmmm.........

In A Nutshell-

I really hope that the SB over hype stops after this year.  I know that it won't, but it needs to.  For 2 weeks, we have read some really good articles, to reading some extremely bad articles, to articles with the same story line over, and over, and over again (does the Bus come to mind, anybody?).  I was thinking, maybe the Super Bowl should be played the week after the Championship games, to keep the momentum for both teams going.

Seattle, I feel your pain.  But blaming the refs for the actual loss is not going to do.  Each team has a responsibilty to overcome all obstacles, and you guys just didn't do that.  We shouldn't even be having a discussion about the refs.  Take the refs out of the game yourself.  Make plays.  Make those field goals that were missed.  There was one time where a special teams player had a chance to pin Pittsburgh inside their own 5 yard line.  He just let it bounce over his head and into the end zone, for the touchback.

Is it just me, or were these commercials the worst commercials during the Super Bowl in a long time?  Maybe ever!!!  I only saw about 3 commercials that were funny?  What was up with the robot and the lizard having the H3 Hummer as a baby?  Please explain it to me??????  It was dumb as hell.

One more thing.  What is up with Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw not being a part of the Super Bowl MVP's of the past, before the game?  What is this I hear Joe ask for $100,000 to appear?  If this is true, then this is a sad day for football fans.  Terry and Joe had 8 SB appearances combined.  Hey Joe, I've seen you on a few commercials.  I know money isn't that tight, is it?

I'm not too happy about the NFL season being over (Pro Bowl doesn't count.  No pass rush or blitzing.  Who wants to see that?), but I am happy that atrocious officiating is over.  I can't wait until the Draft (April 29-30), and for training camp and pre season to start.  After all, the slate of mediocrity will be clean...until next time!

Enough is Enough!!!!!!!!
Feb 03, 2006 | 12:48PM | report this

Okay, so it's the friday before the Super Bowl, and there are tons and tons of articles to read about, regarding the big game.  From the Top 10 Super Bowl moments, to the Best Super Bowl commercial.  But enough is enough.

I'm browsing through foxsports.com, and I come across this particular article.  Check it out and tell me what you think.  This article has to be one of the dumbest articles I have read in a long time.  Thanks media people, for trying to strong arm a rivalry that won't exist once the game is over.

Can someone PLEASE fast foward the time to Monday, when this madness is over with???

Things That Irk Me In The Sporting World (For Those Who Have A Sense Of Humor)
Jan 19, 2006 | 10:57AM | report this

Well, howdy hoo to everyone.  I just want to say that although I haven't been writing as much as I have in the past, I come onto the blog site and read people's blogs often.  I felt so out of the loop, that I decided to take the time out and (gasp!) write a new blog of my own.

Since the AFC and NFC Championships are upon us, I've been doing a lot of thinking as of recent, mainly because of the situations that have happened to me.  So I decided to write about it.  Below are the things that irk me the most when it comes to people and sports (again, this is all in fun.  If you are offended, then my bad.  But that probably means it applies to you).  Like to hear it, here it goes:

When My Team Isn't In The Playoffs:  Okay, I am a huge football fan.  But I'm sure all of you can agree that if your team is not in the playoffs, it gives the games less meaning.  It's like having fried chicken without the fixins to go with it.  It's still good, but something is missing.  What's even worse is when your division rivals are in the playoffs.  Then you become angry and start to beg for defeat.  It's not a good feeling to have, but it does happen.

Fake Fans:  Okay, I don't know if many abide by this, but there's an unwritten rule in sports.  If your team doesn't go to the playoffs, you don't cheer for anyone else in your division, let alone your division rival, if they are still in the thick of things.  If I did a survey today, asking Cowboys fans if they rooted for the Redskins while they were in the playoffs, I'm willing to bet my whole paycheck (which isn't much) that 99.9% of them would say, "HELL NO", along with some other choice words that won't be so nice.  The .01% of the population probably cheered for them because they bet on the game.  Ask Yankees fans if they were happy that Boston finally won a World Series, and I'm almost certain they would not be.  Hell would freeze over before these rivalries die down. Even though your rivalry may not be that serious, it's still a rivalry.  That's what makes sports fun.  By loving one team and hating another.  And I don't wanna hear, "Well, I like so-and-so on the (team inserted here)".  So what.  We all like at least one player on teams we don't like, but that doesn't make us an honorary member of their fan club, either.  And if you live in a city with a major sports team, root for them, people.  If you don't support your home team, then who will???

Bandwagon Fans:  Okay, just so you know, there is a difference between fake fans, and bandwagon fans.  Fake fans are just people that pick who they know to win in the playoffs, which is usually someone in their division.  Bandwagon fans are totally different.  Now, hopefully I'm not speaking about or offending anyone directly, but when I first starting writing and reading these blogs, there were a quite diverse group of people in the blog community.  Pretty much, most teams were represented in one way or another, but it was pretty balanced on what teams people cheered for.  That was during the regular season.  Now, it's the postseason, and out of no where, when I read the blogs, I've seen so many new bloggers, it makes my head spin.  And all of them want to talk about how much of a Steelers or a Panthers fan they are.  Some of them have page names, dedicated to their teams, like "Broncos2dabowl", or something crazy like that (FYI, I just made that up).  I'm just wondering where were these people in December, when everything was still up in the air in the NFL?  Not calling you a bandwagon fan, just wondering were you been since the contest started.  My co-worker that sits next to me, I never knew he was a Redskins fan until they went to the playoffs.  One day, he just came in with a team jacket that looked like it was from 70's and a coffee mug with the logo on it.  He even admitted that this was the first time in years he's worn the old thing.  That's a bandwagon fan for you.

Sore Losers:  Okay, I'm sure you know that the distance between Baltimore and DC is about a hop, skip and a jump.  I have a lot of friends in the DC area, all of them are Redskins fans.  Last Saturday, we went to a restaurant, not too far from FedEx Field.  We watched the Skins-Seahawks game at the bar.  When the game was over, I just sat there in silence, and took a sip of my beer, with an expressionless look on my face.  All of a sudden, one of my friends started yelling towards my direction, "Well, at least we went to the playoffs.  What did your team do?"  Now, although she did really have to yell at me because of all the noise in the restaurant, I was flabbergasted.  I mean, I gave her no ammo for her outburst, yet she comes hollering at me.  Once that happened, a big group of Skins fans started hassling me, because they thought I was a Cowboys fan.  Although I'm a fan of neither team, I pretty much had the finger pointed at me all night and being labeled as the "Cowboy fan".  Folks, hateration is not a good color for anyone to wear (unless you are playing against your division rival), so just because your team loses, don't be a sore loser.  It's so humiliating.  Ask the girl from American Idol on Tuesday.  You know, the one that thought she sang better then the other girl, and started belting out her song on camera......................

Poor officiating:  I've read everyone else's blogs about this subject, so I'm not gonna really get into this.  Although they are human, some calls (or lack of) are just too unneccessary.  Question, where are the good officiating crews, like Ed Hockuli?  He's has one of the best crews in the NFL.

People Who Take Sports WAY Too Far:  Okay, we all know we saw the interception that Polamalu had on Sunday.  And the last time I checked, Pittsburgh won the game, right?  So, why on earth did people vandalize the ref's house because of a bad call?  Okay, this is where the line needs to be drawn.  While I'm just as passionate about sports as the next person, There is no way I am thinking about trashing someone's home or harrassing their children because of human error. If sports have become that serious for you, then please, get a life, and some anger management classes.  When you feel like you want to destroy someone's property or heckle them, take a deep breath, relax, relate and release it.  Take some Karate or Boxing lessons and learn how to work that anger off in a positive way.  Do anything that doesn't make us good fans look bad.  And I leave you all with the philosophical words of Jay Glazer, "Sports is escapism, nothing more, nothing less."

NFL Report Card.....And A Few Things On My Mind
Jan 04, 2006 | 8:58AM | report this

Each year, I like to grade the teams for the season.  I normally share them with my friends and family, just because it's fun to get opinions and reactions.  So, this year, I am sharing my insight with my blogger family.  Tell me what your grades are, or what you disagree with:

A's- Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, Cincinnati Bengals.  We all know why Indy gets an A.  13 weeks before their first loss.  Denver is under the radar for some reason.  No one is talking about them or taking them seriously.  Yet we hear about 5th and 6th seeds Jacksonville and Pittsburgh.  Give Denver the recognition they deserve.  Seattle caught a couple of breaks.  But in the end, wins and losses are all that matter.  I don't know too many people, other then Seahawks fans, that thought they would rise to the occasion this year.  But they look like they are for real.  And Cincy gets my A, simply because it's been a long time (since 1990, to be exact) since they've gone to the playoffs.  Marvin Lewis has done a great job at making this team believe in themselves.

B's- Jacksonville Jaguars, Chicago Bears, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, NY Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers, New England Patriots, Washington Redskins, Kansas City Chiefs, Carolina Panthers, Miami Dolphins.  The Jags really stepped up their game this year.  Jack Del Rio doesn't get enough credit.  He plays a big role in this team's success.  Da Bears came up a year early.  No one expected them to be as good as they are this season.  But with that kind of defense, almost any team can be that good.  Tampa Bay has finally found it's way back into the postseason.  Kudos to Cadillac Williams on getting the OROY award.  The Giants have playedfairly well this season.  I didn't expect them to play as well, I must admit.  Eli hadn't played an entire year last season, yet he started out very well.  But once the season progressed, Eli has regressed some.  Don't know how far this team will get to the playoffs with his shaky play as of late.  The Steelers were once written off during the season, with a 3 game losing streak.  Since then, they have won 4 straight and are hot like fire going into the playoffs.  New England never ceases to amaze me.  Once left for dead, they are now going to the playoffs with a 10-6 record.  Makes me wonder what their record would be with the defense from their Week 1 roster?  Washington has really taken a positive turn.  Their offense now compliments their defense, thanks to Santana Moss.  They need to have a parade in his honor.  This team would not have as many wins if he was not on their roster, plain and simple.  Kansas City played hard all the way to the end.  Too bad for them, there aren't enough spots for the playoffs.  10-6 won't get you in the playoffs.  Amazing.  And Larry "Grandma-ma" Johnson has had people in KC thinking, "Priest who?".  I'm really disappointed in Carolina's inconsistency, but they have showed people they have what it takes to be a serious contender at times.  Now, we'll see which team shows up this weekend.  Miami gets my B, simply because I had no clue they would end up with a 9-7 record.  I should've listened to Jimmy Johnson when he said they weren't going to be as bad as people thought.

C's- Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings, Cleveland Browns.  Dallas should be ashamed of themselves.  They underachieved for much of the season, starting with Week 2 against Washington. I just don't think they ever recovered totally from that.  I commend Minnesota for getting through the boat scandal, and coming out playing hard.  They were in the playoff hunt until Week 16 after having a 1-4 start.  Cleveland gets a D in actual play, but an A in effort in my book.  I, for one, didn't expect them to win 6 games this year.

D's- San Diego Chargers, Baltimore Ravens, Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, NY Jets, St. Louis Rams .  What do all of these teams have in common?  All of them were mentioned playoff contenders before the 2005 season.  None of them are in the playoffs.  San Diego beat themselves week after week, Baltimore just underachieved the whole season, Atlanta isn't who we thought they were (FYI- Neither is Vick), Philly had the injury to McNabb and the T.O. situation spin out of control, Buffalo looked lost (and kinda dumb for releasing Bledsoe and handing the job over to Losman), the Jets had a lot of injuries that they couldn't overcome, and St. Louis is a circus, with the whole Martz story.  Hopefully, these teams will get it together for the 2006 season.

F's- Green Bay Packers, Houston Texans, New Orleans Saints, San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders, Detroit Lions, Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans-  All of these teams need to get a clue.  Green Bay had way too many injuries, and Brett played too erratic.  That, along with the firing of Sherman (who only had one bad season, this season) looks like GB has a long road ahead.  Houston and San Fran, bless you.  I don't know when (or if) you will get it together.  New Orleans was dealt a bad hand, but I don't recall them being good prior to Katrina.  Oakland had way too many offensive weapons to have a 4-12 record.  Detroit and Arizona have bad people in high places in their organizations, so who knows when they will get it right.  Tennessee has the best promise, simply because they have a great coach, good players and a system they believe in.  Now, about that Pac Man Jones........................

***********************************************
*************************************************<
/p>

Okay, so the playoffs are finally here.  I hope your favorite team made it.  If not, then you're like me.  Watching it for the love of the sport.  Here is my predictions for this weekend.:

Washington at Tampa Bay(-2.5)-  This will be a nice rematch of the game the 2 teams played in Week 10.  TB squeaked out that win 36-35, with a daring 2-point conversion.  But it was a good game to watch.  Both teams have a good defense.  But Washington has played a lot better in offense in recent weeks.  Both teams have a good running game, but Washington's passing game has improved week by week.  Chris Simms had a horrible game 3 weeks ago against  NE, but the team has rebounded nicely, winning their last two.  Washington has been on fire, winning their last five.  I just think Washington is coming in with a swagger that Tampa won't be able to break.  Washington 28, Tampa Bay 16

Jacksonville at New England(-8)-  Okay.  I'm gonna keep this short and sweet.  I don't know how good the Jags can do with Leftwich coming back.  I think Leftwich is a durable QB, but he's not on the same level as #12 on the opposing sideline.  I've gone against New England their first 2 Super Bowl wins.  I started a trend last year that I would pick them as long as they are in the playoffs. Not going against my trend.  Pats 24, Jags 17

Carolina at NY Giants(-2.5)- As I said earlier, Manning is not consistent enough for me to believe that this team is a real playoff contender yet.  They defenitely have what it takes, but there are a few bonehead decisions that have been made to put a big ? on this team in my book.  I think Carolina is ready to show people that they are ready and willing to play to go deep into the playoffs.  While I predict that they will win this game, I'm not sure if they will win any more.  Panthers 33, G-Men 20

Pittsburgh(-3) at Cincinnati- Cincinatti has cooled off a little in previous weeks, while Pittsburgh looks like they can't be stopped.  My husband is a Steelers fan, and he said he doesn't want the Steelers to go to Cincy to play.  But I had to remind him that the Steelers beat Cincy IN Cincy.  I really don't see the difference with this game.  Although Cincy got an A from me as far as the season went, I think their playoff hopes stop here.  Too many players on the Steelers want to get to Detroit, because this may be their last chance.  Although I must say, I can't wait to see what Chad Johnson has in store for us if he scores a TD.  Steelers 34, Bengals 27

Retaining Billick Good Idea, Mr. Bisciotti
Dec 28, 2005 | 12:38PM | report this

I received my breaking news e-mail from the Baltimore Sun this morning, 10:26 am to be exact, stating that Brian Billick will be the Head Coach for the Baltimore Ravens for the 2006 season.  While most people are probably against this, I think this is a great idea for a few reasons.

First and foremost, the $$$$$ situation.  Billick was owed about $9 million for the next 2 years.  Firing Billick would mean that Bisciotti would have to buyout his contract when letting him go.  Why pay him money to be fired, only to bring in someone else and pay them as well?  You know the saying, "It's cheaper to keep 'er".  This fits perfectly for the retention of Billick.

He's a great motivator.  Most of us know that Billick is not the "offensive genius" he was made out to be, nor is he the smartest coach of the bunch when it comes to the X's and O's of the game, but he is one of the best motivators in the league.  Although the Ravens currently have a 6-9 record, the past 2 weeks have shown that these players have hardly given up because they are out of playoff contention.  That, along with the unexpected play of Kyle Boller the past 2 weeks (6TD's, 1INT) shows that the message is still clear to the players.

He is receptive of making changes.  People that follow the Ravens will tell you that Billick is one of the most stubborn coaches this league has ever seen.  His stubbornness has shown over the previous years, and a lot of people are critical of it.  Handing over Kyle Boller the QB job as a rookie, not putting in Anthony Wright when people (including players) asked for him, playing Jamal Lewis while Chester Taylor clearly is having a better season.  Yet, this season, Bilick has finally acknowledged that his attitude must change, simply because the team has changed.  He has publicly stated that he is open to adapt his coaching style, to better help the team.  I'm not sure if that is because he was on the hot seat, or if he genuinely saw that changes needed to be made, but this is a step in the right direction.

He has allowed his coaching staff to actually do their jobs.  This is just my personal observation and opinion, but the past 2 weeks, I have noticed that the play calling looked a lot better then in previous weeks.  Then it dawned on me.  It looks as though Billick has backed off of breathing down Jim Fassel's neck and has allowing him to pull more of the strings when it comes to offense.  The results of him not being in total control have paid off, given how well they played, and it allowed Billick to see that he needs his staff just as much as his staff needs him.

Obviously there will be some changes made.  There may be some staff changes, with Rick Neuheisel and Jim Fassel looking for other jobs, as well as personnel changes.  It is no secret that the locker room is somewhat divided, as reported.  There are some players that get the Superstar credit (hint to Ray Ray), while others get the Blue collar treatment.  Then there are some that air all of their dirty laundry to the press about how unhappy they are (hint to Jamal), so Ozzie and Bilick have their work cut out, no doubt.  But to get rid of the "weeds" on the team, will do much good for this franchise.

Also, they need to look at a veteran QB to challange Boller next year, a RB, a couple of offensive linemen, a big defensive lineman, as well as some secondary help (nickel back in particular),  but these things can be taken care of with free agncy and the upcoming draft.

Bottom line is Billick deserves a chance to turn things around for the Ravens.  He has a 62-49 record, along with a Super Bowl ring.  He coached the then-youngest football in 2002 to a 7-9 record, just shy of the playoffs, and he is a players coach who treats his players with respect, and not like inmates with strict rules and curfews.

So good idea, Steve Bisciotti.  Billick deserves one more chance to turn this team around to the contenders we thought of them to be.

Cleaning House for '06
Dec 27, 2005 | 3:59PM | report this

Okay folks.  As you know, the end of this contest is coming near.  And with me being out of the loop for so long, I gotta keep up with the rest of you creative folks to stay abreast to this contest (by-the-way, thanx to all who wrote my name for theie favoirte bloggers.  I hope you saw your name on mine, but I like everyone who is on my favorites list).  So, from here on out, anything that comes to mind, gets written about.  Hope it's not too watered down for you.

There are some things that have come to my attenetion that I feel like should be kept behind in the year 2005, and to start new traditions.  Some stuff is old, some stuff is new.  Feel free to leave me a comment on what you would like to see stay behind in '05.  So, here is a list of things that I don't like, that need a changing in 2006:

Pro Bowl Voting-  Okay, each year I look at the Pro Bowl selection show, and see a lot of names that are just for popularity.  Each year, I get sick of it.  Most of the voters either vote for a player on their favorite team, or people they already know, that has a name for themselves.  Nothing goes by actual performances anymore.  I'm tired of it.  Give these players a chance that deserve to go, no-names and rookies included.  As long as the fans vote, we will always see old, crusty, rusty players who are a shell of their former selves continue to be selected.  Change the voting and only have players that have had succesful years listed as candidates at their position, instead of naming every player at that position.

Ron Artest, Terrell Owens and the rest of the Peanut Gallery- These two are both prime examples of what happens when, "keeping it real goes wrong"(see Dave Chappelle for more info).  We both know the story behind these two, and none of us cares anymore.  It's spelled out loud and clear that both of these guys have some kind of issue in dealing with people, but I'm just sick of it.  I wish people like these two just get on a shuttle, move to Mars, and rule THAT planet.  They get no sympathy from me, or a lot of other people for that matter.  And to Ron, I still think you need to fire your barber and get a dictionary.  You's a damn fool for letting someone cut that illiteracy on the back of your head

The playoff system in the NFL-  Yes, I know I'm crazy.  I know that the playoff system is perfect the way it is right now.  But how many of you get sick of seeing bad teams go to the playoffs?  It should be some kind of rule against it.  I've hated watching the NFC playoffs for the previous 2 years.  This year will make the 3rd.  Mediocrity is hurting the NFL, folks.

The dress code in all sports-  I don't know about any of you, but I was happy to see the NBA bring in a dress code.  I know it doesn't change the man in the suit, but image is everything in this world.  If you look good, you change a person's whole persepective(as most of you know already).  Plus, if I gotta go to work in dress pants, a blouse and some pumps, then why not have the players dress up???  And they look really nice in their suits (my main reason for supporting this).

Men who think females know nothing about sports- I've mentioned this in a previous blog, and I know this is a prehistoric, unpopular topic, but to the guys out there that think they know everything about sports, know that there is at least one woman that knows just about as much as you.  Live with it, and move on.  It's not the end of the world that a woman knows a lot about sports.  After all, didn't a lot of you guys want us to learn about your favorite team?  Don't be mad when we start to know more about your favorite player then you do.

Females who THINK they know about sports-  What's sexier then a sexy woman?  A sexy woman who knows about sports.  What is un-sexy?  A sexy woman who thinks she knows about sports.  Listen, to all of you girls out there that want to act like you know what you are talking about, be an actual fan of the sport you are discussing.  Don't go online and look at stats the night before the Super Bowl or the World Series and think you're doing something.  If you can't discuss anything from the previous championships, then you are exposed.
