Since I've Been Gone.....
Apr 11, 2006 | 2:06PM | report this

Hey everyone!!!!!  I just want to say sorry and how much I missed you guys in the blogging community.  I've been sooo busy, that I've had no time for even myself.  So, I decided to spew off a few things that's been going on with me, and with what's going on in the sports world.  I hope to keep this as brief as possible, but I have a lot of ground to cover.

First off, I've decided to go back to school.  It's not college, but it's broadcasting school.  I told all of y'all out there that I wanted to be the next Bonnie Bernstein, and I intend on getting to that level at some point one day. I've been focused with that, so watch out, world!!  Here I come

Secondly, I've decided to spend just about all of my spare time writing a book about.....what else??  Football.  From time to time, I usually send out my thoughts about the Ravens to my friends and family, and they really find it enjoying (so they tell me, anyway).  I know what you're thinking.  This chick can't even spell properly, so how's she gonna write a book.  Well, spell check is a wonderfuI thing.  I get so sick of my girlfriends asking me about this, or that, so I decided to write a book and get women to understand the game a little better, in a way that ONLY women cen relate.  So guys, look out for my book when it's done.  Good gift to get your girl who wants to learn more about that wonderful pigskin sport.

Third, for some reason, my son's teacher decided to give his class a book report due EVERY Wednesday (my son, by-the-way, is 7 years old),so in addition to going to school and writing, I've been helping my son with his weekly book report.  But that's okay.  School (for the both of us) is out in 2 more months.

Okay, enough about me.  That was just a recap of what I've been doing.  So, let me put my 2 cents in on everything I can think of that I missed discussing with you guys on the net:

I love Brett Lorenzo Favre.  This I must confess.  But you're being an ####.  Stop holding Green Bay hostage and just make up your mind!!!!!  Do something, either retire and live on a farm, or come back and play mediocre for one more year.  I don't think anyone cares anymore at this point.  However, to play devil's advocate, if I were Brett, I'd probably do the same thing.  In my mind, anyone stupid enough to give Favre that kind of power, to make up his mind whenever he's ready, deserves it.  Who wouldn't take advantage of a legal situation if the opportunity arose (and I say legal, cause some of y'all are sick)??

* T.O.-  Goodness, who cares..Never mind

*Barry Bonds- Okay, if you want to play the race card, that's cool if that's your style.  But I'm black, and I have to admit, I think a lot of this you put on yourself.  The change in your body, the sudden rise in hr's at bats, the "gifts" you got from Balco, your trainer getting arrested, the grand jury testimony....I could go on and on about why I think Barry has dug his own grave.  but I won't.  Because know there are a lot of people who will never see it that way.  Oh, and by-the-way, your show's not that great.  Actually kinda boring and sympathetic.  Guess that can happen when you have editing rights.

* I don't think I've been this excited about the NFL Draft in quite a while.  New Orleans holds the key to EVERYTHING that happens in the first round.  Never do I remember a time where the pick of one team determines the outcome of what's going to happen.  Can April 29th get here already?  My TiVo is set!!!

Speaking of the draft, Vince Young will do alright in the NFL.  Y'all get off his back!  Yeah, I know he played most of his snaps in shotgun formation and yadda yadda.  But with the right mentor, he has the potential to be something special.  I don't see him sliding past the 10th pick in the draft.  He's no Mike Vick.  So all you Young haters, get it out of your system now, before it's too late.

* I like the move of Culpepper  to the Fins.  They surprised the hell out of me last season at 9-7 with Frerotte as their QB.  Imagine what they can do with a healthy Daunte.  Kinda scary.

* I hope everyone enjoyed Opening Day for their respected baseball teams.  Unfortunately, by the 3rd game of season, no one showed up at Camden Yards to see the Orioles play the Devil Rays.  Mainly because we suck.  Even though they killed Tampa Bay the day before with a 16-6 win, they lost the next night 2-0.  Again, Angelos, PLEASE sell the team!!!!!!

To Air McNair:  Management in Tenn. is treating you like a step child.  You don't need that! Although I understand they don't want to pay you that kind of money if you get hurt, come to a team that will appreciate you.  We will give you what you're looking for, a chance at redemption.  The Ravens have a nice cushiony spot, just for you.  Ask Kerry. We told him we didn't want him, because we're waiting for you to be set free.  What's that?  The Ravens play the Titans on Nov. 12th IN Tenn?  Revenge is sweet my friend (yeah, I'm sucking up.  This town needs a QB that can make us respected, dammit!!).

Say what you will about my man Pedro.  But he has huge coconuts he's carrying around.  To hit Guillen like that, and KNOWING he's no longer a pitcher for the American League shows his fearlessness.  Do I have to remind you guys of the Old Man Zimmer incident??  Okay, maybe I took it too far, but he's alright in my book.  Other then that S Curl on his head, I mean.  With heart like that, he gets a vote from me!!

Oh, one more thing, CONGRATS Lady Terps!!!!

The people of MD would like to thank you for bringing some type of winning to the state, since we haven't seen much of it in a while.  With the expection of the Skins going to the playoffs last year, Ravens did bad last year, O's stink, Nats are still new, Wizards are still the Wizards and the men's Terps have done much of nothing since their Champtionship title.  Thanks for making us Marylanders proud of something.

Welcome back, good job with the return post.

I'm sick of Favre too. I've said this before, no one is winning from this ordeal. Favre is losing, the team is losing, and the fans are losing.

I really don't believe that race is a reason for people to hate Bonds. They hate him because he cheated (allegedly) and he apprently isn't a nice guy.

I think this Draft will be good. I can't remember being this excited as well.

Culpepper could be a hidden gem for the Dolphins.

I'm still trying to figure out why McNair isn't getting as much respect as he deserves from the Titans. They want to use Volek, maybe McNair should try somewhere else for a year or 2.

Good post.

Hey, thanks for the love, MrNFL. Yeah, I agree. No need to treat a Co-MVP like that. McNair put his health on the line for them and look at how he gets thanked. What a joke!!! A few of my Houston buds said they were glad when Adams moved the Oilers. Not in the sense of losing a team, but losing an azzhole of an owner.

Hey Hill, good to have you back. You were missed. As to Bret, I hope he plays and I really don't think he is holding anyone hostage. Organizations like that hold all the cards, just ask McNair. Bret is doing what Bret wants, and frankly he has paid his dues.

How about emailing me sometime..teachhre@yahoo.com
Just because I am a man! By the way, I will speak my mind anytime for you!

Favre = drama queen. any decision would have given the packers a clear idea where to turn in terms of future free agents, draft picks....yada yada yada. either way, he could change his mind in august and nobody would hold it against him.
Pedro = dimwit. the only reason this guy still throws at other players heads is because HE DOES IT FIRST, and knows any retaliation will lead to the other pitcher being tossed. lets not forget either that his entire team steps in to protect him. if nothing stood between the player he throws at and him being pummelled into the ground, its a safe bet he never does it again.
Steve McNair = just another loyal player getting screwed over by the team he was loyal to. everybody agrees he deserves better than this, but the titans wont release him because they'll get nothing back, and refuse to trade him because nobody is offering what they want. he'll eventually get released, but not until the P.R. hit reaches a level never seen before, not even T.O.'S b.s. can equal what this will end up being.

SoCal, got your e-mail address. I'll say hey to you.

cuziffer- I agree to a degree about Brett, but why aren't we talking about the GB organization as well? They are allowing it, so I guess, in a way, we don't have the right to be mad.

Pedro is an ####. But I just love the fact that he doesn't care. People like him entertain me

McNair's marriage with Tennessee is pretty much over, especially now with the grievance being filed. If the Vikes only got a 2nd rounder for Daunte, then I'm sure Baltimore is willing to give up a 4th rounder for ol' McNair.

The return of the great one!!!! Title????????? Of the book that is, to buy it I must know the title.
Stick with the broadcasting pursuit, you'll make it.

As for the latest sports topics, there starting to make me sick.

Favre, what did we all expect from him? He has carried Green Bay long enough, its time for them to do some spending and get the man some help; if they don't get him some support then whats the use of him coming back. So as you can see, I can't blame him for acting this way.

Don't be so hard on T.O., look for a renewed T.O. this season, he doesn't have a choice.

The draft!!! The talent is huge this year and I just can't wait until preseason games start. Young will be successful, as long as the offense is built around him. The main key for Young is going to be the type of running back he has behind him. If he can get a back that can stretch the field (Edgerrin James or Marshall Faulk) he will be deadly.

I love Pedro Martinez, little guy shuuting down big guys, whats not to love?

Barry Bonds, the sad thing is that all of his natural talent is being ignored. Sure, he probably had a little help from the roids, but the man is the greatest baseball player of all-time in my eyes, regardless of the roids. The most confusing thing about the roids issue is that all we hear about is Bonds, that just makes the whole issue dead in the water for me.

Culpepper to the Dolphins, if he can recover and get back to the Culpepper of old, the Dolphins will be super bowl bound within two years if not sooner

Hey cr...Long time no hear from. How's my buddy?

Can't give out the title yet... I need to have it copyrighted, first. As much as I love you guys, my idea can be gone in 60 seconds.

Favre is Favre.

T.O. is T.O.

The draft will be so good this year. Too bad the first round is long as hell.

Bonds is a really good player. I just wonder how long it's been since he's been on roids (in my opinion, he's using). But it's unfair that he's being singled out. That being said, with no sure evidence as to when this allegedly took place, you can't take away his records.

The Fins will win 10 or more games this season. I'll go ahead and say it now. The only competition they had was the Pats, and they have lost a few keys players. They could easily win that division.

There is a lot of hating about Brett hating going on that I think is mostly unwarrented. I think the GM is using it as an excuse. Whether or not Brett comes back or not the Packers still have a ton of cap room. If he does come back it doesn't address any defensive concerns anyways. With that being said, I am sick of this #### too, but not his ####. The attention he is getting is unwanted by him.

I totally agree with that. I'm not really mad at Brett, just the way this situation being handled. Liek I said, how come no one is calling out the organization? They should want to be contenders whether Brett threatens to retire or not, bottom line.

I'm just tired of hearing about it, that's all.

Good luck on becoming the next Bonnie Bernstein.

What's wrong with Pedro's Soul Glo look?

This NFL draft does seem to have some extra interest. Maybe because the first round is going to be unpredictable. A lot of questions, a lot of changes, and a lot of contrasting projections.

At one point, they projected my Eagles to take linebacker A.J. Hawk with pick # 14. Now, he's being projected as a top 5 pick.

Who are the Ravens going to target?

Thanks Dat. I'll let you know when the product is finished

Shooter- What's going on? The Soul Glo is a mess! Makes me think of Coming to America

I just read on Scout Inc that we may get a defensive player, such as M. Huff, Bunkley or E. Sims. I'll take W. Justice, personally, but supossedly Ozzie isn't as high on him as first thought. He probably won't be there anyway, but the time we pick.

You see we're trying to take your punter, Johnson?

Like I said, look at how the Titans are treating McNair. GB can call Bret's bluff anytime they want. They have to be committed to building the organization which they have let go over the last 5 years, ever since they let Holmgren go.

Hey Hill, how about your take on the Duke rape victim. Have you been following it? I have 2-3 posts on it this month, but would like your take on it.

Good luck with your book.

hill - As I once told mustang (Gunn) creativity is more important than anything else in writing. There are always straight laced boring people who can proof the work. Good luck with it.

I always liked Bonnie Bernstein. If you know her personal story (she is off the sideline now) this is a person who took her job very seriously and did it well. At Raider games I would always look down a few rows to see if it was Bonnie or that salt & pepper haired guy with the funny name (I am drawing a blank!). At least Pam Oliver isn't your role model - she is terrible.

hill...finally made it back here...sorry for the delay. i agree 100% with you about the packers allowing favre to drag this out, and i've called them on it several times also, specifically ted thompson, who i dont think is much better at making decisions in a timely fashion than ol' #4 himself. i forget who, but someone said the packers are trying to force favre out, but i dont get how, considering they've allowed him all this time, and will continue to do so without pressure. the lack of free agent signings doesnt mean they're quietly pushing him out the door. more than likely, it means the free agents dont like the concept of not knowing what they're getting into, whether he's coming back or not. if he had made a decision either way, i think they would have appeared more active in free agency, just because players would be more willing to discuss offers and possibly sign with the team.

Cuz- Totally agree. Whoever told you that is full of BS, just liek most of these mock dratfs I see. Look at how they are showing Favre Lavar Arrington, to just to get him to to come back. They should've been making a splash to begin with, with or wtihout Favre as the QB. Not only that, but they have other important things to worry about, like taking care of a disgruntled Walker, who wants out. They need to be looking for a #1 receiver.

Norcal- LOL! You're sooo right. I think it's his monotone that bothers me. I hate when he does segments on Real Sports. I really like that show, but when he comes on, I automatically sigh.

Hill, first off, nice post, good to see you back.
Favre should hurry up and decide on whether or not to retire. But give the guy some credit, he hasn't had this much time to make a decision in forever. Sorry GB fans, but you need to do something about your line.
As far as the O's, I couldn't agree with you more. Angelos hasn't done anything with that team and Baltimore would be much better off if he sold the team. He can't make up his mind if he wants to build or buy a team. Granted they look like they are finally going somewhere, but they still need a little help. Keeping BJ Ryan would have been a nice start.
