With about 8 laps remaining in the Auto Club 500, David Ruetimann recorded one of the hardest wrecks that have ever been recorded in NASCAR. It started when the #16 of Greg Biffle tapped the back of the #00 Domino's Pizza Toyota causing David to hit the wall. David overcorrected a little to much which unfortunately cause him to face the wall head-on. Overall, it was a very hard hit!! During the crash, David was unable to breath for a brief period of time. His left foot is also badly bruised after it got hung up in the pedals of the car. David is doing fine though and plans to run the Busch Series race in Mexico.
i have to disagree with you on when the wreck started. it started when nascar threw the yellow for no reason other than to bunch the cars up for a restart late in the race.
The whole reason why the caution came out ws because Greg Biffle got into David. There was no announcement of the caution prior to the crash and all other drivers showed no intention of slowing down. In fact, during the time of the crash, they were showing telemetry of Kevin Harvick at full speed not slowing or showing any sign of a caution flag.
