Cleveland teams(the cavs especially right now)get no respect
Jun 05, 2007 | 3:32PM | report this

this year things just seem to be going cleveland's way. the indians are in first place ( for the moment anyway) the browns got a few good players in the draft for once. and then there's the cavs. the cavs have done somthing they have never done in 36 years of being the nba; they made it to the finals. they did what no one thought they would do, they beat the pistons and won the eastern conference finals. they became only the third team in nba history to do so.

and no one wnats to give them any credit for it at all.

in the beginning of the playoffs, everyone said the cavs would sweep the wizards and they did. but while detroit breezed buy the magic, the cavs just slipped by  wizards. then came the second round came and at least one person had the nets in 7. the cavs won 4-2. still they played sloppy or they had a horrible performance even though they won.

and then came the estern conference finals against who else but detroit. and no one gave them a chacnce in hell it was all the detroit in four, detroit in five, detroit in six or seven. some one said " the cavs are a scrub team and will get swept". some one else said "the cavs are pathetic".  and at the start of the series it seemed as though it could have been true.

bu then the cavs came back.

they beat detroit four games in a row. quite the acomplishment. as i said before only three teams ( the cavs included have done it).  the cavs beat detroit and became eastern conference champions. a first for the organization. and now they're on their way to the nba finals, also a first for the organzation.

yet still no respect.

charles barkley said after the cavs won game six and clenched the conference championship " they out played detroit every game".

so why is it so hard fpr every one else to admit this, and why would it be so hard to belive that the cavs could, i repeat could, win the nba title?

ill tell you why.

because no one wants to admit that a cleveland team is good. no one wnats to believe that the indians are in first place in the al central. or that the browns had an a grade draft. ( even though you don't really hear about it.) and no one wants to believe that the cavs are going to the nba finals and have a chance to win an nba title.

yes, they do have a chance i dont care what everybody says.

everyone wants to say that the cavs have no chance. but let me let you guys in on a little secret. one that the "unstoppable pistons" already found out:

nobody is unbeatable.

no not even the spurs, the nba's poster team.

come to think of it, dallas learned that lesson the hard way as well.

you people need to understand that the spurs arent unbeatable. that the cavs ARE NOT as much of a one man team as you think and that they DO have just as much chance as anybody, even the spurs, to win the title. now that doesnt mean that they will but they have a chance.

you people are going to have to realize that cleveland sports is on the way back to the top, wether you or the nba, nfl, and mlb like it or not. and guess what? your ging to have to DEAL WITH IT!

Look, I'm from Erie PA, and have been a HUGE Browns/Indians fan all of my life, but never really followed basketball. I moved to San Antonio 7 years ago for work and got sucked into the Spurs because it is the only pro franchise here and the town is NUTS about them. I am now a huge Spurs fan but will always give Cleveland respect as a sports town. However, to be honest, you can't claim that San Antonio or Duncan are Stern's poster childs. San Antonio is as small a market as there is in the NBA, especially since there are two other pro teams in the state. If Stern wanted a poster child for the NBA, it would be Lebron because of how good he has become in such a short time. He can be the face of the NBA for a good 10 years. But, I don't see any preferential treatment going his way because the league DOES NOT try to favor teams or series outcomes. All I am trying to say is that I understand your argument that Cleveland does not get much love from the national sporting media, but I don't agree with your stance that the only reason the Spurs have won anything during the Tim Duncan era is because it was handed to them by Stern.

Someone's always got to play the no respect card. It happens every year in every sport. I love your passion Hall, but I have to say your post just reads like a venting Cavs fan. There is nothing wrong with that, but you need to sell us on why Cleveland can win, Sell it!! Sell it!! LOL

Reminder: The words "destiny" and Kool-Aid" are unauthorized in any justifications.

Make no bones about it the Cavaliers will get all the respect they deserve should they beat the Spurs in the NBA finals. They've already gleaned a geat deal of respect from their dismantling of the Pistons in the Eastern Conference finals as it was totally unexpected in most quarters. They acquitted themselves well and will have to do even more of the same if they're to have a chance against the Spurs.

i had a feeling you would say hat about lebron. why wouldn't you? you're a spurs fan and believe that your team can do no wrong. but lets face it, duncan going out on the floor and getting nothing and stoudamire gettin suspended for doing the EXACT SAME THING is #### and you know it. duncan should have been thrown out too. and hello cleveland is a smaller market than san antonio so lebron wouldn't be nowhere near a poster child for stern.

Hall- Your arguements are just truly..........not really backed by anything. You take one situation and bend it so far that it breaks when you try to apply it to what your're saying. I understand you have love for Clevland(props), but a word of advice. It's not the rest of the world vs. Clevland. Its been a long time since Clevland has done anything relative in sports history. I know you'll say they came back from 0-2 on Detroit, that they've never made it to a finals. But in the big spectrum of sports. Those things a really small and will be forgotten. You can talk when Inidans when the World Series, or if the Cav's win the title. Just chill out and write something with sources of legit information.

Well I tried to be civil, but after reading your comments on the NBA message boards and seeing some of the things you have posted on blogs, I just think that you are an ####. I am sure I won't be back here because you don't really post much of anything that has any real value. You are just another bitter sports fan that feels that his teams should always win and when they don't it is because of some conspiracy. The best part about it is on your personal blog you say that you are not a biased fan, but that is EXACTLY what you are. LOL, WHAT A TOOL!!!!!!!

umm no. in the first place, the only idiots are trash like you that "think" they no about sports but don't. in the second place, i am not bitter. what i am, is smart enough to recognize that there is such a thing as coruption in professional sports although in the case of the nba stuff that dosent apply. i am smart emough to recognize that sometimes refs are just a little TOO inconcistent and it just seems like its always a little too convenient for some teams sometimes. third, im not, i repeat, am NOT biased. i feel strongly about my teams and im just suck of them never getting a break in anything. i may seem biased but believe me IM NOT.

Buddy, if you want to talk about corruption in the NBA why don't you mention the huge coincidence that the Cavs got the draft pick the same year local boy Lebron entered the draft? And I have to disagree with Stern favoring the Spurs . . . everybody knows he favors the Lakers and the Knicks.

PS- Telling everyone who disagrees with you that they are stupid doesn't help make your point. It just makes you look stupid.

i dont call everybody that disagrees with me stupid. the only people i say anything to are the ones that come on here on the bandwagon and act like they're experts. which thankfully isnt very many people

Man, you 'add comment' to just about any article written about the Spurs winning the finals and your comments usually look like this:
“Blah blah blah ####. Blah blah blah bandwagon. Blah blah blah ETC.”
And if you want to talk about bandwagons I think you should be a little more critical of your fellow CAVS fans. I think the CAVS probably have alot more ####wagon fans than the Spurs.

This series is DONE. Game 2 is ugly.
Pop sat his starters when LeBron went out with 2 fouls and the Spurs jacked up the lead even more.
Most bloggers have said depth is Clevelands weakness.

Take off your homer hat, quit cursing everyone who doesn't agree with you and take a good look at your own bio!

You aren't going to get responses to your posts till you act like a man. Dropping a batch of explatives on someone you disagree with is for junior high, not this crew of sports crazed nuts.

EXCUSE ME?! IVE ONLY POSTED ON 3 MAYBE 4 BLOGS AND MOST OF THEM I NEVER SAID ANYTHING ACCEPT WHEN ONE OF YOU STARTS TALKIN TRASH. YOU WE THINK WE CAVS FANS DONT KNOW ITS OVER? WE DON"T NEED ####S LIKE YOU POINTING OUT THE OBVIOUS. SO #### OFF. AND I ACT LIKE MORE OF A MAN THAN HALF OF YOU IMMATURE ####S DO. ITS NOT MY FAULT YOU PEOPLE ARE TOO BLIND AND SAD TO SEE WHEN A SERIES IS FIXED. IF YOU'RE NOT GONNA GIVE RESPECT FOR ANYTHING ELSE, GIVE RESPECT FOR THE FACT THAT THE CAVS EVEN MADE IT THIS FAR. GIVE RESPECT FOR THE FACT THAT WE OUTPLAYED THE PISTONS IN 6 GAMES AND WON THE CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP WHICH MOST OF YOU SAID WE WOULD NEVER DO. WHY DON'T YOU PEOPLE QUIT ACTING LIKE EXPERTS CAUSE CAUSE GUESS WHAT? YOU"RE NOT #### EXPERTS ON ANYTHING.
P.S DON'T LEAVE COMMENTS ON THIS PART OF MY BLOG AGAIN BECAUSE I'LL JUST DELETE THEM. IM DONE WITH BASKETBALL AND IM DONE WITH THE SAN ANTONIO FINALS.

"they havent earned anything"
awnser me this, are you a detroit fan or a san antonio fan? cause those are the only fans that truly believe that. and as far as your "mistake by the lake" crack. if you knew any sports history, you would know that that name was made up for municipal stadium because nobody in the city at the time like how much money it cost to build, or its location. the only people that use that as a name for cleveland in general, are stupid detroit fans and even stupider pittsburg steeler fans. and steelerfan, i hope you read this cause i mean idiots like you.
