WELL HERE I SIT WAITING FOR THE RACE TO START, THE PRE-SHOW SEEMS TO GET LONGER AND LONGER EACH WEEK, AND I GOT TO THINKING. WITH ALL THE MOVING AROUND AND NOW WITH ALL THE TEAMS SEEMING TO LOAD UP, I HAD A VERY SCARY THOUGHT, " WHAT IF MR. FRANCE AND HIS CRONIES DECIDED ON SOMETHING LIKE A SALARY CAP SUCH AS WE SEE IN OTHER MAJOR SPORTS?"
WOULDN'T THAT BE A KICK IN THE HEAD, AND BELIEVE ME IT COULD HAPPEN. IF NASCAR LIMITED THE AMOUNT THAT DRIVERS COULD BE PAID, IT WOULD LIMIT WHO ALLTHESE TEAMS COULD SIGN, THUS NASCAR COULD AND WOULD CONTROL WHO AT LEAST WINS THE TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP EACH YEAR.
I REALLY DIDN'T THINK ABOUT THIS TO TO MUCH UNTIL THE 5 CAR CAME OPEN AT HMS AND THE TALK ABOUT TONY LEAVING GIBBS AT THE END OF THE SEASON. LET'S FACE IT IF TONY GOES TO HMS THAT WOULD PUT 4 OF THE TOP 5 OR 6 DRIVERS IN NASCAR ON ONE TEAM. I MEAN MOST OF US CHEER FOR DRIVERS RATHER THEN TEAMS, BUT IT WOULD GET BORING PRETTY QUICK IT THE SAME TEAM WON WEEK IN AND WEEK OUT.
OF COURSE WITH MEARS LEAVING IT SHOULD GIVE TONY LEVERAGE WITH GIBBS OR ANY OTHER TEAM THAT HE IS TALKING TO. HE MIGHT STAY AT GIBBS (NOT) I THINK HE WANTS BACK IN A CHEVY SO BADTHAT HE CAN TASTE IT AND THERE ARE 2 OF THE BIG TIME CHEVIES OPEN RIGHT NOW, ONE AT HMS AND ONE AT RCR. I HOPE HE WORKS OUT SOMETHING QUICK SO WE CAN MOVE TO SOMETHING ELSE.
THERE HAS BEEN LOT OS TALK ABOUT BRAD KESELOWSKI MOVING UP NEXT YEAR FOR JR. MOTORSPORTS, WELL WOULDN'T IT MAKE SENSE FOR HIM TO MOVE INTO THE 5CAR WITH JR. AND RICK AS CO-OWNERS, AND IF TONY LEAVES GIBBS YOU KNOW LOGANO WILL FILL THAT SLOT.

It is hard to pinpoint exactly where this season is heading as far as drivers and owners.
A cap on earnings. Yes, good idea. I am not sure how much of a cap is needed but I think 25 million plus a year is inadequate and vulgar. If they can't walk on water and raise the dead, then they don't deserve that kind of money.
I would like to see a cap on earnings Brian France can make too. About $50.00 a year would be adequate for his activity in the sport.
Then you have Mike Helton and Darby. They are about worth say maybe $40.00 a year.
I remember an interview where Jeff Burton touched on this subject. He quickly backed off, though. He said there was too much involved to put a "cap" on the drivers, but he didn't elaborate on what was involved.
