GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

WELL OVERALL NOT A BAD RACE AT ALL, NOT REALLY SURE THE BEST CAR WON, BUT THE ONE THAT MADE THE FEWEST MISTAKES DID, THAT IS FOR SURE.

I REALLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT IS CAUSING THE SMALL MISTAKES THAT ARE PLAGUING MANY OF THE BETTER DRIVERS THIS YEAR.  JR'S TEAM CAN'T GET A TIRE OFF, KYLE IS HAVING MORE SMALL PROBLEMS THEN THEN A RUSSIAN JUMPMASTER WITH A PLANE LOAD OF QUITTERS, AND JJ AND JEFFY'S PROBLEMS ARE BEYOND BELIEF.

TIRES STILL SEEM TO BE CAUSING SOME OF THE PROBLEMS, AND OF COURSE AJ AND JJ CASUE MANY MORE THEN THEY SOLVE.  NOT SURE THOSE 2 BOYS WOULD BE SAFE ON BUMPERCARS  AT THE CIRCUS.  TONY LOSES THE LEAD AND THE RACE OVER A BLOWN TIRE, WAS NOT AT ALL SURPRIED WHEN THERE WAS NO POST RACE INTERVIEW WITH HIM.  I FIGURE IT WAS TAKING TONY ALL HE COULD DO NOT TO JUST EXPLODE.

DOES IT SEEM STRANGE TO ANYONE ELSE THAT BRUTON SMITH BUYS KENTUCKY RACEWAY AND HUMPY WHEELER RETIRES ALL IN THE SAME WEEK, JUST A FREAK THING OF NATURE, I THINK NOT.  I AM NOT THE GREATEST FAN OF THE FRANCE FAMILY, BUT IF THEY ARE NOT CAREFUL AND REIGN THAT SMITH IN, HE IS GOING TO BE THE ONE CONTROLLING NASCAR.  I UNDERSTAND THAT  NASCAR HAS ALREADY TOLD HIM NO CUP RACE IN 09 BUT WE WILL SEE, AND I BET YOU A DOLLAR TO A DOUGHNUT THAT THERE IS ONE THERE IN '10.  SO LOOK FOR ONE OTHER TRACKS TO BE BOUGHT, CLOSED,  AND THE RACE MOVED, OR A LOST RACE AT ONE OF THE EXISTING TRACKS.

I HAVE TO SAY CONGRADS TO KASEY AND HIS TEAM, WHEN THINGS GOT TOUGH THEY KEPT THERE HEADS AND DIDN'T CHOKE, GUESS WE WOULD HAVE TO SAY THEY ARE PART OF THE UNCHOKE-A COLA CROWD.  BUT I DO WONDER IF KASEY MIGHT NOT BE IN A LITTLE HOT WATER FOR POPPING THE TOP ON THAT CAN OF BUD LAST NIGHT ON NATIONAL TV

THAT'S MY OPINION  -  WHAT'S YOURS

GUNAQUAT

P.S.  FOLKS I RAN ACROSS A BOOK CALLED "BIG JOHN'S SPEEDWAY GRILL"  AT WALMART THE OTHER DAY ON A DISCOUNT BOOK TABLE.  THIS BOOK IS A COOKBOOK THAT IS WELL WORTH THE $4.97 THAT I PAID FOR IT, YOU MIGHT HIT YOUR LOCAL WALMART TO SEE IF THEY HAVE ANY.  SOME PRETTY FUNNY STORIES IN IT ALSO.

Gunny,
I think the race was more entertaining than many believed it would be but there did seem to be a lot of gremlins there.

As an Indiana resident, I'm ecstatic that Sparta, Kentucky is likely to host a Cup race soon. I was a guest in the ARCA suite there thanks to a close friend who raced with that series a couple of years ago and it is an exceptionally fabulous facility. I agree it means some track will lose a race but depending on which track it is, it will probably be a great trade-off. Lots of CUP fans in Cinci, Lexington, Louisville, Indy etc. who will fill the place.

My congrats to Kasey Kahne too. I was prepared to be really disappointed that Smoke was going to win but seeing him end up 18th was the sweetest icing on the cake on top of the layer Jeff Gordon put there with his fuel strategy. Great day and night of racing.

What is happening with some of the big boys problems this year is the new car. It is a big adjustment getting the handle on the new car and has leveled the playing field somewhat.

Jeff Gordon was looking at a 20th place finish if not for their fuel gamble.

Bobby Labonte had a top 5 car and was reall good once the track cooled off and of course Charlotte is Bobby;s favorite track. If there were no cautions in the last 100 miles if this race Bobby may have challenged for the win.

RL,

THE NEW CAR MAYBE SOME OF THE PROBLEMS, BUT HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN JR. RUNNING PRETTY WELL AND THE OTHER 3 FROM HENDRICK'S NOT, OR EVEN THE 2 CARS FROM EVERHAM RUNNING SO WELL THE LAST 2 WEEKS. REALIZE THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO BE DIFFERENT CARS, BUT YOU AND I BOTH KNOW THERE ISN'T BUT ABOUT A NICKLES WORTH OF DIFFERENT IN ANY OF THEM ANY MORE.

HENDRICK'S HAS ALWAYS TALKED ABOUT HOW ALL INFO IS SHARED BETWEEN THE TEAMS, BUT IT REALLY DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE WHAT IS HAPPENING. I MEAN JJ AND JEFFY SEEM TO BE LIMBING ALONG TOGETHER BUT CASEY IS SO FAR BACK YOU CAN'T EVEN SAY HE IS SUCKING HINE -------. IF I WAS CASEY I WOULD START LOOKING NOW FOR A NEW HOME NEXT YEAR.

Gunny, I enjoyed what I got to see. What happened to Kenny Schrader? I was pretty pleased with the finish for Burton and Kenseth...Mears, not so much. If he left HMS where do you think he might go?

BOBBIE,

NOT SURE ABOUT SCHRADER, DIDN'T REALLY HEAR MUCH ABOUT HIM LST NIGHT, AS FOR MEARS, NOT REALLY SURE, HE HAS NOT REALLY BEEN IN A POSITION TO SHOW WHAT HE CAN DO, SO MAJOR TEAMS MIGHT BE A LITTLE GUN SHY. BUT CHILDRESS MIGHT TAKE A CHANCE ON HIM, I KNOW THAT RCR HAS TO HAVE ANOTHER DRIVER FOR NEXT YEAR AND ANOTHER SPONSOR TO TAKE THE PLACE OF AT&T. WOULDN'T IT BE A KICK TO SEE BURTON MOVE TO THE CHEERIO CAR AND MEANS MOVE IN WITH A SPONSOR SUCH AS UPS? DON'T THINK THAT WILL HAPPEN BUT IT MIGHT BE COOL.

P.S. DID ENJOY VISITING WITH YOU FOR THE SHORT WHILE THAT WE GOT TO.

Gunny, not sure what is going on with some of these races. This year is really sort of strange. Last night's race seemed to be the strangest thing.

It seemed like anytime someone looked like they might actually have the race won, something happened to them.

As far as what is going on with the tires, not sure. Zippy said that they were not having any tire wear. So he figures they must have ran over something on the track to cause the tire to blow.

cant fault the drivers for tires blowing out. I'm a Dale Jr fan its to bad that his tire blew out he probably could have won the race, but Vickers had the car to beat its to bad his whole wheel came off. It was a good race, not as good as the Indy 500, but good.

thank you gunny,

If i was allowed to speed in a closed pit TWICE and speed out TWICE and pass the repair crew under speed AND pass the pace truck as Jr was I could finish 6th also.

Ahh.. What a factor of 600 miles. The cars wore out. The tires got tired. And the crews felt it 4 hours later. I wish every week could be this exciting.

NIQUE,

YOU ARE EXACTLY RIGHT, HE TOOK A LESSON FROM KYLE ON THE PIT ROW THING, AND WAS GOING TO BE PENALIZED FOR THE SAFETY CREW THING TILL IT WAS REVIEWED, BUT YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE GIVE AWAYS WHEN YOU CAN GET THEM. HANG WITH US GIRL, YOUR ARE GOING TO MAKE IT

There is a NASCAR rule book, that applies to every
driver, except JR and he has "JR'S RULE BOOK".
Even with all NASCAR gives him, he still can't
win a race.

NIQUE,

I BELIEVE THAT WHEN JR. WENT PAST THE PACE CAR IT WS WHEN NASCAR PUT HIM BACK ON THE LEAD LAP AND TOLD HIM TO ADVANCE PAST THE LPACE CAR AND TO THEN GO TO THE END OF THE LONGEST LINE WITH WAS THE LINE OF CARS STILL ON THE LEAD LAP.

LUV,

IF I AM NOT TOTALLY MISTAKEN, THE PENALTY IS GOING TO THE END OF THE LONGEST LINE, WHICH IS THE SAME THING THAT KYLE BUSCH WS DIRECTED TO DO DURING THE SAME CHAIN OF EVENTS. FOX EXPLAINED THAT SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE COURSE OF EVENTS AND THE RULE OF THE BOOK WAS FOLLOWED WITH BOTH KYLE BUSCH AND JR.

Yes Kyle did it once. But he didn't do it twice and he didn't race past the clean up crew at speed. So Jr gets the same penalty as Kyle for doing it twice instead of once and plus going by the clean up crew at speed?

If Kyle gets put at the back of the pack which he did for once, shouldn't jr get a lap penalty for doing it twice?

I know you like Junior Gunny and that's OK with me and you know I listen to what you say because you are nice to me and stood up for me but what I don't understand is why the rules are like this, if they are?

It seems like what they're saying is if you break the rule once you might as well go ahead and break as many as you want because nothing more is going to be held against you?

NIQUE,

AS I UNDERSTAND IT RIGHT NOW, THE PIT ROW THING IS THE SAME ONCE TWICE OR THREE TIMES, THE SAFETY THING IS BEING HELD FOR ONE LAP, BUT ACCORDING TO WHAT WAS SAID LAST NIGHT WAS THAT NASCAR REVIEWED THE TAPE AND REVOKED THE PENALTYTHEREFORE ALL JR. HAD TO DO WAS GO TO THE END OF THE LONGEST LINE. NOT SAYING IT IS RIGHT, BUT THAT IS THE WAY THAT R RULE IS WRITTEN AT TIS TIME.

THE DEAL ABOUT REVOKING THE PENALTY IS SORT OF LIKE THE OU DUCKS GAME 2 YEARS AGO, YOU AND I BOTH KNOW THE DUCK TOUCHED THE ONSIDE KICK BEFORE IT WENT TEN YARDS, BUT ON REVIEW THE BALL WS GIVEN TO THE DUCKS. SUCKS DON'T IT.

GUNNY- I hadnt noticed they didnt interview Smoke until you mentioned it...gee wonder why! LOL Do you think he will go on another tire tirade?

The teams must be hitting on setups that are bringing speed and turning ability but cutting tires on long green runs. It sure was an odd race with all the trouble the leaders were having.

I was happy to see Kurt running well up front until he got snake bit...there is hope I might see Victory Lane with them sometime this year yet!!

KRIS,

ZIPPY STATED IN AN INTERVIEW THAT THEY WERE NOTHAVING TIRE WEAR AND HE THOUGHT THAT TONY MUST HAVE RUN OVER SOMETHING ON THE TRACK.

THAT SAME ARTICLE STATED THAT TONY COULDBE SEEN IN HIS COACH KICKING THE CABINETS. CAN'T SAY THAT I BLAME HIM ONE BIT.

Gunaquat, good post. I noticed that several drivers were having tire issues, not just Jr. I agree that Kahne didn't have the best car, but made the fewest mistakes. And I'm not buying that he's back. Let him run MUCH better the rest of the season, then I can safely say he's back.

Look Dodson, the penalty for pitting while pit lane is closed and for speeding is the tail end of the longest line, Jr did that. The safty crew pass is an issue only if they are ruled to be in harms way. Jr was on the far side of puit road and slowed slightly as he passed NASCAR ruled no foul. Get your facts straight dummy. Oh, and luv24car it is funny you say that while Jr is dominating your driver this season.

SW said, "BUT I DO WONDER IF KASEY MIGHT NOT BE IN A LITTLE HOT WATER FOR POPPING THE TOP ON THAT CAN OF BUD LAST NIGHT ON NATIONAL TV."

Why? What's the difference if you have Budweiser written all over your car or if you have a little taste after 600 long miles. Are parents afraid they're little 13 year old girlies will see it?

auburn07,
I posted some advice for you on NiqueDodson's blog but she deleted my comments as she usually does when someone disagrees with her. Don't waste your time on that poor lost little child. Most of the serious and smart racing fans just ignore her blogs and her comments. She is very shallow and lacks any real insight about racing.

I really don't want a Nascar race at Kentucky. It's just another cookie cutter track that'll put you to sleep during a race. Now I think of it, most of all races have put me to sleep this year.

I just don't understand why Brutons greedy #### didn't invest anything into North Wilkesboro.
