ALSO THE FINALLY SHOT OF DALE JARRETT,STANDING ALONE IN THE SEMI DARKNESS OF THE PIT AREA. IT SORT OF REMINDED ME OF THE PICTURE OF Y.A. TITTLE ( NEW YORK GIANTS QUARTERBACK, LONG TIME AGO) IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIELD, ON HIS KNEES, HELMET OFF, HEAD BOWED IN TOTAL DEFEAT. NO ONE OF JARRETT'S STANDING SHOULD GO OUT THAT WAY.

GUN...what would you have President Bush do about high gas prices? Check out the socialistic countries where the govt. sets prices. Let me know if you find any cheaper---with as plentiful a supply---than here.

Gun, I think Gibbs used this as some sort of experiment, sure didn't work out though. Engines that can't last 100 laps won't cut it even if they are the fastest thing on the track in the beginning, you have to finish. That's just racin 101. Better use what they have been using, haven't been doing bad with them so far.
Han, Gas prices, plentiful supply, cheaper? Saudi Arabia - $.64 a gallon. But I wouldn't wanna live there.
So you want the govt. to enter private business? Yeah, after all, they run the govt. so well, they might as well get into private business.
Guess what happens when the govt. sets gas prices? Supply goes away. Gas shortages occur. Exxon's profit margin right now is 10%. You think they're going to keep supplying gas for less? Better question, do you think a 10% profit margin is too much for a business? That's why I mentioned socialism in my first comment.
I don't like paying $4 a gal., but I don't want government in private business. Those that do should give a socialistic country a try.
In most business standards, a 10% profit margin is quite high. Given "IF" this is the bottom line profit ( net profit after payroll,expenses, occupancy, overhead, and cost).
The average retail business only enjoys a 3% or less net profit margin. When your major corporations are taking in hundreds of billions of dollars, a 3% or 10% net profit is quite a hefty amount of money.
When gas prices exceed the national average of the inflation index, you have to wonder who is getting rich. Hard to justify a $1.00 a gallon jump in gas prices in 30 days.
All the more reason to seek out alternative fuel sources that are plentiful on our own soil. Considering our government is in the clutches of the oil barons, I would think it will be up to corporations like NASCAR to be the flag barrier in pushing for these alternative resources.
There is plenty of oil reserves left on our own soil (USA). Just a matter of drilling for it and getting a break from the environmentalist protesting about it but I still promote the idea of seeking alternative fuel resources.
Wow, interesting turn on this blog. If Exxon is punished by the Dems as Hilbilly and Hussein Obama want to do being the Marxist they are, what do you think the executives and the board of directors will do? I figure if they can't make a fair return (which 10% is - especially compared to the pharmaceutical giants), they'll invest their resources in an industry where they can earn a fair return. That will reduce supplies and drive prices higher. Until gas reaches $7.00 a gallon here, it is a bargain and that is coming from someone who owns a business with a fleet of vehicles on the road every day. Hanny, you and I always seem to agree - it's getting scary. If the Dems would let companies drill where the oil is and stop worrying about displacing some animal, we'd have enough oil to be energy independent for years.

A retail business typically has much less at risk than a company investing huge amounts of money not knowing whether they will ever get a return on that investment. You are comparing banannas and kumquats - not a fair analysis.

Fairly new to these pages but my observations are HR13 is right on here. The only one I see attacking anyone is NiqueDodson who appears to be a defensive youngster with such low self-esteem she has to try to put others down. JMO
I BASED THE SATEMENT ON THE FACT THAT A FEW TIMES LAST NIGHT WHEN THE SEATS WERE PANTED BY THE CAMERA LARGE SECTIONS OF THEN HAD NO PEOPLE SITTING IN THEM. THE FACT IS SEVERAL AREAS HAD BEEN USED TO PUT LARGE BANNERS UP SUPPORTING OUR TROOPS. WHICH I THINK IS GREAT, BUT IF THEY HAD AHD FANS TO FILL THOSE SEATS THE BANNERS WOULD HAVE BEEN SOMEWHERE ELSE.

You are correct. The price of gas is cutting deeply into the entertainment/disposable income of the average person and I would guess that more NASCAR fans are around the average working middle class income than above it. As in most sport fans. I think you're probably right.

GUNNY- Back to your blog...I gotta agree with that shot of DJ getting out of his car in the dark, he seemed to be off in the corner somewhere, but after being at a night race in the garages, that is how the entire garage area looks! Its crazy back there, they have no lights on except in the garage stalls so my guess is he wasn't in the middle of no where.
Gibbs were pushing their engines and trying trick setups I am sure. That is one bummer about the All Star Race these days, it seems to be glorified testing. I am pretty sure thats what Kurt was doing too.

Well, I came on here looking for something interesting to read, but I was not prepared for this. Gunny you out did yourself and you did it in such an innocent way.
Now on to your blog. There were several suprises last night. And Kasey certainly was the biggest of them all.
One other big surprise to me was how neither Jimmie nor Jeff were ever a factor in the race.
Race snooze fest.. sorry they got apart and no racing. No side by side beating and ####ing. Get back to the invert. Make the faster cars fight again. Just my thoughts.
Hhhhmmm gas prices and Nascar? What a combo for a blog! Well as gas prices are over $18.00 in Europe, I am sure we can cry huh? Not our Pres fault, as here in Oregon we are inundated with 'tree huggers' that prevent us from refining gas at a rate to supply the US and keep prices down. So much for gas prices. As for Nascar, loved the race this weekend, GIBBS sure has deep pockets to be expeirmenting in a race with engines! Figure $300,000. to put each car on the track!!! Yep, then only one finishes the race!
On the other hand all 4 of HMS drivers finished the race and Dale Jr is still in the top 5 in points, too! So on to the Cocoa Cola 600...GO DALE and the J TEAM !!

Gunny???You started this?LOL It was an okay race. I told HR13 that I almost forgot Jeff Burton was in it. My favs are Burton, Kenseth, and Mears. I'm not really concerned with the gas prices because what goes up must come down. However, I did hear Humpy Wheeler say that it was the best and biggest crowd they've ever had for the ALL-STAR Race. I don't really know what that means, but he was happy with it. BTW, the NHRA Race in Bristol was sold out for Friday and Saturday...then, the rains came and...
