Billy Gillispie is at it again, this time taking a backup in
the MEAC.
That’s right. The Kentucky coach,
better-known for taking kids just out of grammar school, will likely accept a
commitment from Hampton transfer
Matt Pilgrim on Wednesday.
``I haven’t committed yet, but it’s going to be done tomorrow (Wednesday)
afternoon,” the 6-foot-8 sophomore forward told FOXSports.com.
Pilgrim is currently in Lexington on
a visit. He is a talent, but was suspended this past season and one source
close to the situation said Pilgrim is a “cancer”
Pilgrim started less than half of the 26 games he played and saw his numbers
fall to 7.7 points and 5.2 rebounds.
``He was the most talented player in the league,” one source said. “But he’s a
giant head case. I’m shocked Kentucky
would take him.”
Jeff Goodman is a biased UNC homer, so obviously his opinion on the matter is a bit skewed. Let's not mention the kid being touted already as a potential NBA prospect.
Ever heard of Acie Law? Well noone had until Billy Gillispie got hold of him after his freshman year at aTm where he was an unknown 3-star recruit out of high school and did nothing his freshman year. Gillispie turned him into a lottery pick and every year he gets more out of his players than any coach in the country. I trust Billy's judgement on spotting talent and developing players a little more than some dweeb named Jeff Goodman. There's a reason that Billy Gillispie makes $2.5 M a year coaching at the University of Kentucky while Jeff Goodman sits behind a computer all day wishing someone would take their time to write articles about him and all while looking like a complete tool in his picture.
This is a perfect example that any "no talent hack" can have a blog these days. Why would any team need 6'8 NBA prospect on their team?? How many times have you seen Pilgrim play Jeff? Were you aware the reason he didnt play much last year was due to injury. Oh sorry, I forgot you don't use any facts when reporting anything.
Lets look at the facts here and try to make sense of Goodman's committments about Piglrim and taking a 8th grade committment
Facts:
1) Goodman hates UK, which is fine. He is a UNC fan
.WHich is fine.
2) taking an 8th grader is a huge risk UK
3) Taking a "backup in the Meac" is a huge risk for UK
So since we all know Goodman doesn't like UK (which is fine, I don't expect everyone to like every school) but since we know Goodman doesn't like UK, wouldn't you think he would want UK to take big time gambles/risk by taking 8th graders and "meac backups"?
I don't like UNC and I would love for UNC to take all the huge risk possible.
Yet Goodman writes articles trying to bashing UK for taking those huge risk. In other words - he is discouraging UK from taking those risk.
Why would someone who doesn't like UK try to bash and discourage UK from taking those huge risk?
Why? bc Goodman sees the writing on the wall. He know Gillispie is a great player developement coach and a good talent evaluator. Goodman knows enough to know that Avery is going to be good and that Pilgrim is going to be good all he needs is a coach like Gillispie.
Why else would Goodman bash UK? He should be encourging UK to take huge risk, not bashing them thus discoruaging them.
Goodman is so bias towards Kentucky in his reporting that it isn't worth reading. But when Ky. is ahead of UNC that makes hin report negative about UK. He is just a jerk and Fox will find that out soon and out he will be
