I consider myself an avid NASCAR fan. I hate road courses and I do not understand why we have them on the schedule. I hate them!
ESPN, stick to broadcasting the Yankess on Sunday. Your broadcasts have been terrible ever since you took over and unfortunatly we have to deal with you the rest of the year. Maybe they can let FOX cover the race and ESPN or JGN (Jeff Gordon Network) can cover their main driver. Also, I thought Brad Doughtery was a basketball coach, this is the only person the worldwide leader in sports could find to add to the broadcast team?
Enjoyed Petty's dicussion last night on SPEED about the penalties and the so called probabtion in NASCAR. It's racing, let them bump without a penalty. Good example today when Harvick said #### and got into Montoya's face for taking him out. Come Tuesday they'll both get penalties. Why penalize them? When the fight almost broke out you could here the fans cheering and then the JGN went to a commercial.
Does anyone no how many years the contract with the JGN was signed for?
Can I get anyone else's feelings on road courses? They suck. I am sitting here watching the race at Sonoma and I feel like I'm watching cauiton laps. It sucks! Does anyone else feel this way?
Also, Gordon and Johnson should be at home watching this race. TNT's Kyle Petty did a great analysis on this situtaution before the race. What I got from what he said was that they are CHEATERS!!! I agree. Also, these two are so far up the others.... that I wish Junior good luck next year. He's going to be the odd man out.
It's amazing when these caution flags come out are at opportune times for JJ and JG. I don't think the throw them for that reason but.... Also, when you are racing on a road course and there is a small wreck or small piece of debris, have someone go pick it up!!! Why do you have to throw a caution!!! No wonder why those stands are half empty!!!
I have never been a big fan of Gordon, let alone a fan of him. When people ask me, who is your favorite driver? I would reply "anyone other than the 24 or 48!" That all changed on Saturday night.
I started watching NASCAR when Earnhardt was king. Everyone loved him and few disliked him. I liked him and when he passed away I felt like someone I knew personally died. I was upset when I realized that Gordon was getting close to his victory total. When watching the race I thought, ####, it could happen.
After he won and he stopped at the start/finish line and grabbed that black #3 my hate went away for Gordon. The only thing he could have done differently was to do the backwards victory lap. It was awesome! Now, I said my hate went away for Gordon that doesn't mean that I am going to cheer for him!! I still dislike Johnson!!!
If Gordon wins at Earnhardt's track and passes senior, on his Birthday... Anyway I wouldn't want to be near the track!!
NASCAR is one of the most popular sports in America today. One of the best parts of the race is with 10 laps left all the way up to the finish. Getting to see the driver celebrate is one of the best parts as well. NASCAR fans know what to expect from certain drivers...Mark Martin thanking the fans, Tony climbing the fence and one of my favorites...Carl Edwards doing his backflip at the start/finish line. So much for seeing that today!!!!
It's Bristol weekend one of my favorite race weekends and one that I'll try to catch the Busch race because it's filled with Cup regulars. So, I get done working around the house just in time to sit down, relax and watch the last 45 laps of the race. Great race so far...Kenseth and Edwards fighting to the finish. As the laps go by I realize how crappy this coverage is. I was at the point when I thought nobody could be worse than the braodcasts on NBC...I was wrong.
Anyway, the race gets over and Edwards wins. Happy to see him win, he hasn't won in a while and we get to see the backflip. What I thought was amazing was is they aren't taking a commercial break like FOX and NBC do when the race is over. Could they be better??? Oh my gosh they are talking to Edwards in his car as he does his victory lap, awesome!!!!
Here he comes...stops at the start/finish line...just told Rusty he is going to do his flip!!!! Wait...coverage is OVER look at the time, it's scheduled until 6 it ends at 6. Are u SERIOUS!!! I don't think I've ever been so upset about something like this. When races run over on FOX or NBC they will usually stay and even interview a few other placers. The race just got over and they (Rusty) interviewed ONE person...the winner...in car!!!??? WTF? Does anyone else have any feeling about this?
I can't get over it...ecspecially with one of the best NASCAR drivers in the announcers booth! It's like come on....
I say we should boycott watching NASCAR on ESPN/ABC...worst telecast ever!!!!
We are 40 hours out from the start of the biggest race of the year. Pretty excitied about getting the season underway. Amid all of the penalties, I think everyone is ready for the green flag on Sunday. I think it is going to be one of the best Daytona 500 in years.
I am interested in seeing who everyone thinks is going to win. I am going to go with the same person I picked to win the Bud Shootout...Tony Stewart. In addidtion to the 500 I also think he will become the first driver to win the Shootout, a Duel race, the Busch race and the Nextel Cup race. I am not a huge Stewart fan, I just think it's his time for winning the 500.
Miller Brewing Co. today issued a NASCAR challenge to competitor Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc., and the temporary naming rights to Milwaukee's Miller Park would be stake. The long-standing "battle of the beer cars" on NASCAR tracks would take on added significance during the 2007 NASCAR Nextel Cup season if Anheuser-Busch accepts Miller's challenge to the Budweiser team. Miller is putting the naming rights to Miller Park on the line for a weekend series between the Milwaukee Brewers and the St. Louis Cardinals in 2008. If the Miller Lite #2 car, driven by Kurt Busch, finishes ahead of the #8 Budweiser car, driven by Dale Ernhardt, in the 2007 season standings, Busch Stadium would be renamed Miller Lite Stadium for a yet-to-be-determined 2008 series in St. Louis. If the Budweiser car finishes the season ahead of the Miller Lite car in 2007, Milwaukee's Miller Park would be renamed Budweiser Park for a 2008 series in Milwaukee. "We're more confident than ever that Kurt Busch and the #2 Miller Lite team are going to be regular contenders for the Nextel Cup championship," said Tom Long, Miller's president and chief executive officer. "It's too bad for Anheuser-Busch that they didn't take us up on our challenge last year, when Kurt and the team were dealing with the first-year 'new team' transition. Kurt already has one title, and now he and the whole Penske Racing garage are focused on adding to that total. We expect to see plenty of Miller Lite flowing in victory lane this year." The new wager was officially proposed via certified letter from Long to Anheuser-Busch president and CEO August Busch IV, and delivered this morning. As the BizTimes Daily was dispatched this morning, Busch had not yet responded.
It's finally time. Speedweeks is here, the Bud Shootout is tomorrow night, the Duels are next Thursday and the 500 is less than 8 days away. This is the second best time of the year next to fall (more on that later). Ready for Trackside in 10 minutes. I love the job that FOX and Speed do on televising everything that is NASCAR. They do an awesome job with baseball and the NFL as well.
Speaking of baseball, pitchers and catchers report in less than a week!!!
Well, since the NASCAR season is under way how about some predictions?
Mine: Bud Shootout winner - Tony Stewart , also I think the Toyota's will suprise.
So, I picked the wrong title for my first post...my bad!
Well, this is my first post to my new sports blog. I would like to take a moment and welcome myself, an avid reader of blogs, to the blog writing world. I finally decided after reading millions of blogs, probably exaggergating a little bit, that I would finally put my two cents in and let everyone know how it is.
Throughout my time reading blogs I have noticed a lot of negativity towards the teams that I like. I am a HUGE Michigan fan. So if your not, that's great I don't care. I am and that's that. Just a note, I agree that Michigan shouldn't have gotten another shot at OSU. They lost as well, can't wait for next season!!
Also, I'm a HUGE NASCAR fan. I know, how can you watch cars make hundreds of left turns? I can. i can't explain it. Saturday night is the Bud Shootout!
I started watching hockey two months ago after going to a Michigan game at Yost. Wow, I've missed a lot! I love it. Favorite NHL team, the Redwings!! I used to like the Canadiens as a kid, so I claim them as well. Like I said, I started watching hockey 2 months ago, I wouldn't call myself an avid fan, yet.
Being from Cincinnati, I also love the Reds and the Bengals. I know they both haven't won a lot over the past few years, but I like them.
Well, that is a little about me from a team perspective. i look foward to reading, writing and enjoying what goes on in my new blogging world.
