NASCAR is one of the most popular sports in America today. One of the best parts of the race is with 10 laps left all the way up to the finish. Getting to see the driver celebrate is one of the best parts as well. NASCAR fans know what to expect from certain drivers...Mark Martin thanking the fans, Tony climbing the fence and one of my favorites...Carl Edwards doing his backflip at the start/finish line. So much for seeing that today!!!!
It's Bristol weekend one of my favorite race weekends and one that I'll try to catch the Busch race because it's filled with Cup regulars. So, I get done working around the house just in time to sit down, relax and watch the last 45 laps of the race. Great race so far...Kenseth and Edwards fighting to the finish. As the laps go by I realize how crappy this coverage is. I was at the point when I thought nobody could be worse than the braodcasts on NBC...I was wrong.
Anyway, the race gets over and Edwards wins. Happy to see him win, he hasn't won in a while and we get to see the backflip. What I thought was amazing was is they aren't taking a commercial break like FOX and NBC do when the race is over. Could they be better??? Oh my gosh they are talking to Edwards in his car as he does his victory lap, awesome!!!!
Here he comes...stops at the start/finish line...just told Rusty he is going to do his flip!!!! Wait...coverage is OVER look at the time, it's scheduled until 6 it ends at 6. Are u SERIOUS!!! I don't think I've ever been so upset about something like this. When races run over on FOX or NBC they will usually stay and even interview a few other placers. The race just got over and they (Rusty) interviewed ONE person...the winner...in car!!!??? WTF? Does anyone else have any feeling about this?
I can't get over it...ecspecially with one of the best NASCAR drivers in the announcers booth! It's like come on....
I say we should boycott watching NASCAR on ESPN/ABC...worst telecast ever!!!!
The abc/espn broadcasters really suck. It kills me to hear them go on and on and on.....about nothing so I usually place it on mute(which totally blows.
That's why I say that NASCAR should be on Pay-Per-View. You would get 100% coverage and no commercial breaks.
Since that isn't a reality, I have to settle for shoddy race coverage. One thing I do to alleviate the problem is by spending close to $300 during a race weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. It's free of questionable commentary, free of commercials and free of selected driver coverage. The sad thing is that I get that freedom twice a year.
You would think with the millions that they are making, they would have less commercials. I like the announcers for FOX, with the exception of DW!! He talks to much about the past and what he did!
I have only watched two Busch races televised by ESPN. I thought the announcers were boring and the coverage lacked excitement as well as thoroughness. Seems they did not have as many cameras covering the race in different locations as in the past Busch races. It just did not have any pazaz.
I have experienced that kind of ending before with ESPN on other coverages of sports as well. Sorry to say it would have been better if NASCAR let Speed cover the race. At least I can relate to the announcers better there.
The coverage on ESPN is deplorable, their lack of post race coverage is deplorable, and overall I would rather see the race on any other channel. In fact I want Benny back. I wanted to see Carl's flip and his excitement after a long dry spell. THE COVERAGE IS DRIVING THIS FAN AWAY. NASCAR BETTER DO BETTER.
GOBLUE....lol....they have millions, so they can afford less commercials? Where do you think a lot of the millions came from? Umm...commercials!
I totally agree on the coverage......the backflip is crucial to a complete package. It's like handing someone a birthday cake w/o candles. I was disappointed too! NICE POST!
After a long commercial break today...we got to see Kyle Busch in victory lane. In a quick interview there and two one question interviews with Gordon and Burton, FOX's coverage was out of there. Race is scheduled to end at 6 the coverage ends at 6. Thanks for interviewing two additional drivers!!
I don't care for ESPN coverage either. Boring dosn't begin to say it. As far as pay-per-veiw, I think fans already pay enough for NASCAR.
Love the icon!!
