They say History has a way of repeating itself, well someone forgot to tell LSU that on their final drive which ended with QB Jarrett Lee finding WR Brandon Lafell for an 18 yd touchdown. Lee had a rough start when he came in during the second quarter. His first five passes were incompletions and another was ill advised which turned into an interception for an Auburn TD.
When starting QB Andrew Hatch was knocked silly on a QB run, Lee had to find it within himself to stay poised and do what was necessary for his team to win...he didn't fail. Lee would finish the game 11-21 for 182 2 TD's and an int.
RB Charles Scott continued to impress me with his powerful running. He wore down a very good Auburn defensive line as the game went on. Scotts had 132 yds on 21 carries with a long of 32 and avg. around 6.3 yds a carry.
Les "The Gambler" Miles caught Auburn off guard twice in the game. Once on a perfect onside kick after just scoring a TD and again with RB Keiland Williams throwing a halfback pass for A TD.
I have to give respect to the Auburn Tigers who wouldn't just go away easy. They scored the go ahead TD with just over 8 min. to play in the fourth. However LSU's defense played tough as they did all night and got the offense the ball back with not that much time to spare but it was enough for QB Lee to complete some huge passes and none bigger than the TD with just over a minute left.
I've seen some great games between these two teams but this was a classic SEC defensive battle as neither offense is that great with the exception of LSU's offensive line and RB Charles Scott. Scott just may be the best RB in the SEC and one of the top in the nation. His bruising style of runs went a long way in helping LSU pull off this victory.
Auburn players and fans should feel no shame as the team played tough throughout, it just wasn't to be. They'll definatley still be a team to be reckoned with for some years once offensive coordinator Tony Franklins and the team has time to figure out the whole spread offense.
Overall another great Saturday in CFB and I'm just happy that LSU was able to pull this one off. Hopefully next week against another tough defense from the SEC Miss.St., LSU will be able to get the passing game going. Until then I'll be sitting back and enjoying this win.
First off let me thank all of you have have joined the SEC sports group. Here we all be able to post blogs on your favorite team(s) and discuss the post amongst our brethren without arguing and fussing with outsiders.
I have added the first post late lastnight and I hope you all enjoy it. To read it when you enter the group home page simply click "read all group news" from there it will bring you to another page with just the title. Click the title and there you can read it without all the words looking like one giant paragraph. Besides it's the only way to comment on anothers post.
Now if you just wanted to leave a messege for the whole group to read such as telling everyone "hey I'm going to be a new Father/Mother then you simply click on "post new messege" on the messege board.
there is also an event calender where we can set a date of maybe something important that the whole group can use as a reminder. Such as the SEC championship game date or anything else.
you'll also see a folder that say gambitxxx photo album. I have put pics in it. If you'd like to add your own pics to the group you can make your own folder. when you clic add pic it'll have the browse button and then a drop menu to place where you like. simply choose new album, that will create an album all your own.
I'm commited to making this a group we will all enjoy for a long time, or atleast however long we choose to stick around fox sports website. So I have approved for you all to do things like invite friends to join. Once we have a good amount of us I want to work on having a once a year get together. I'm going to ork closely with each and everyone of you so we can all come to an agreement on things such as time, place and date. We'll make it as convenient as we can for everyone. The only thing each will be responsible for is getting our collective SEC loving #### there. I will provide for food and drinks when you arrive. We'll discuss this more at a future date though.
For now I hope you enjoy being part of this group and I'm ecited about having each one of you. Your all great bloggers but even more wonderful people who love the SEC brand and it's teams as much as I.
So browse around the page and get familar with it. I'm sure some of you already know most of what to do and how to do it. I just thought I'd give you all a heads up before you flooded me with questions LOL! :)~
Are you an SEC homer? Do you just love SEC football and other sports? Tired of trying discuss topics about the SEC and having some obnoxious punk from another conference interfering, causing you to forget what you was even talking about because you had to start laying the smack down?
Well I have the place for you! I just created a private group here at foxsports that will allow you to able to discuss all things SEC. No more worries about some left coaster who thinks he knows your own conference better than you. You'll never have to explain yourself over and over again why the SEC is the most dominant and exciting football being played.
No more questions of why we chant SEC! SEC! SEC! whenever one of our teams has just gave some team from who cares what conference a good old fashioned Southern #### beating!
This is a private group so I will need to invite you. Sorry it's the only way to keep out the undesired. All you have to do is send me a foxmail letting me know you'd like to join. I'll then send you the necessary info you need.
I'm really excited about doing this so I hope a few of my SEC brethren here will join.
I want to also say to my friends here who root for teams from other conferences that I mean no disrespect towards you,your team or conference. It's just that sometimes more often than not I get tired of hearing ignorance about how we Southerners are #### and other such stupidity when we are talking football. Other peoples personal beliefs does not matter to me or have a place when discussing what we love...Sports!
Hope to see you there!
One final note this group will be unlike any other here. As our numbers grow they'll be events I'll be trying to set up for each of us to enjoy and any ideas are certainly welcomed. With that said there's just one more thing...
While I love Lisa to death and she is my friend, there's no bigger homer and LSU hater in this community not named Alex Rogan! Today while surfing around the front pages of foxsports I ran across her slideshow of teams who play ooc cupcakes. While I'll be the first to admit LSU does play weak teams ooc, it's SEC schedule or any SEC teams in conference schedule isn't soft at all.
LSU will face 4 maybe 5 ranked opponents by seasons end as will many SEC teams. All the while the supposed kings of CFB the USC Trojans will have faced 1 maybe 3 (that's if Oregon and ND are ranked by that time) ranked opponents by seasons end.
Do I mean USC is not a very good team? Nope not at all what I am implying here. In fact they are a good team, however no matter how you spin it their in conference schedule should be a cake walk as it's full of creampuffs. So her favorite little saying as of late is "pot meet kettle" well Mrs. Horne I suggest you think about that for a minute because you are being hypocritical to say the least.
When a majority of SEC teams become like the majority of the Pac-10 teams, then maybe we'll see teams like LSU or Georgia play better ooc teams. I will say nobody was critisizing Michigan last season or calling Appalachian st. a cupcake when they won last season. Now that LSU has exposed them for the weak team they are it's a whole different story.
Here is the what she said about LSU on the slideshow, while it's all true she fails to mention the ranked opponents they played or put het own team within those she ranked as having a an appetite for destroying cupcakes.
LSU
"The Tigers' recipe for a national championship: Schedule the cupcake champ and get a TV deal with ESPN. Talk up Troy. Beat the stuffing out of North Texas. Start the "tough path" talk before you lose to an overrated SEC team. Barely stay with Tulane in the first half, then blow them away in the second. Play 75 percent of your games at home. Lose to another mediocre SEC team and repeat the "tough path" whine. Hoist crystal trophy."
The funny part though is that she has last season and this season mixed together like a pot of Gumbo. LSU never played Tulane this season and hasn't played 75% of the season as of yet. Then they'll play the tougher games on the road (see Auburn and Florida) not at home.
Let's take a closer look at USC remaining schedule to see how it compares.
USC reamaining sched. .
@Oregon st.
Oregon
ASU
@ WSU
@Ariz.
Wash.
Cal.
@Stan.
ND
@UCLA
Can anyone honestly say that these teams stack up to USC and are a real threat? Forget Stanford last season it was a fluke! Now LSU's remaining schedule.
@ Aub.
Miss. st.
@Fla.
@S.C.
Georgia
Tulane
Alabama
Troy
Miss.
@Ark.
Now can you honestly say this schedule is any easier than USC's? Even Tulane is a team that gave both Alabama and ECU a tough game. They could probably beat a team or two within the Pac-10 that USC would roll over.
The point is this, USC 's remaining schedule favors them to go undefeated. While LSU or any other SEC team will more than likely lose 1 or 2 games. With maybe Florida being the only team I can see coming out unscathed. Do I think the SEC is superior to the Pac-10? No I'll not go that route. The fact reamains though that teams within the SEC will have more teams ranked at the end and also from top to bottom have more teams with less losses than the Pac-10 as a whole.
Yes we do love cupcakes as it seems, however it's almost as if we have no choice. Ask Florida fans what happens when you schedule tough teams early like they did when Miami was spanking their #### once upon a time. It hurts your chances of competing for a title because you still have to get through a tough SEC schedule.
So bow down everyone else to Queen Lisa and while your at it bow down to USC the kings of the CFB! To all those that oppose...of with their heads!
Now that LSU has finished playing it's warm up games, it's time to get serious when this Saturday they'll go head to head with Auburn. These two teams always go at it hard with the home team usually being the victor. However it might not be that way this season when looking at Auburn who has installed a new spread offense that they have yet to put all together. Facing what possibly is the best defensive line in the nation of the LSU Tigers, they'll need to be almost perfect.
The strength of this Auburn team is the same as it has been for years, their defense. Still I think they'll be out matched upfront by LSU's massive offensive line. They create huge holes for Jr. Tailback Charles Scott to run through. Scott isn't a speedster but has tremendous strength and great vision. Against both Appalachian st. and N.Texas he has shown the ability to bust long runs for huge gains.
Scott isn't the only RB that the Auburn Tigers need to worry about though. There are quite a few on this LSU team, namely Richard Murphy and Keiland Williams. Williams was projected to be the starter this season after losing Jacob Hester to graduation but Scott showed much improvement over the summer and has earned that position.
RB/WR Trindon Holliday is always a nightmare when he touches the ball. The fast little guy is hard to get arms on and has world-class speed. He's very valuable on the return team and if he gets by the first set of defenders...lookout!
The weakest points of this LSU team is inexperience at the QB position and it's young DB's. If Auburn can get pressure on Soph. QB Andrew Hatch or freshman Jarret Lee then that can spell doom for the Purple and Gold. Keep in mind though that Hatch can run and has done so a few times so far this season. In my opinion he might be better at running with the ball than Matt Flynn was.
The DB's are young but as I said the new offense that Auburn is trying to imploy hasn't quite caught on yet. It's a spread offense and after facing Appalachian st. and N.Texas LSU is ready and able to defend it quite well. Other than when Rich Rodriguez was at West Virginia my opinion is nobody runs a spread better than Appalachian st. of which the LSU Tigers found no problem with because of all around defensive speed.
This will by no means be an easy win but I do expect LSU to come out ahead. So far Auburn hasn't lived up to expectations as they were picked by the SEC coaches to win the West. Say what you want about LSU but they still seem to be the best team in the West with Alabama probably another year away from contending.
One thing to note is that Sr. LB Darry Beckwith will not play in this game due to injury he suffered Sat. against N. Texas. He controls the middle of the field and it will be interesting to see if Auburn can exploit that. Although I'm sure Miles will have whomever he plays there ready to do what is necessary to help the team win.
As always I apologize for posting in the NFL section. Until Fox fixes whatever the issue is with me not being able to post within the college football section, I'll have to continue posting there.
There is this pretty serious storm predicted to hit the coast of S.E. Louisiana by early Tuesday morning. His name is Gustav and he has New Orleanians and others in and around the area scrambling for higher ground. However that won't stop the LSU Tigers from hosting Appalachian state tomorrow in Baton Rouge. Nope not even a big bad Hurricane can stop Tiger football.
Officials have gotten together and moved the game start time but we'll be damned if we'll put on hold what Appalachian st. has coming to them. That I'm thankful for because I've spent all day trying to find a hotel in other states and everything is booked. So it looks as though I might have to sit at home and ride this one out. That's ok though, as long as I can get one LSU game in before the lights go out for about a week I'm happy. Are my priorities screwed up...you bet they are!
Since I'm going to be here why not just focus on the game to take my mind of the inevitable. I have one ice chest full of Heinekens and another waiting to put food and water. Nah forget the water I can load that with more beer! Oh by the way the game has been moved to 10:00 a.m central time. Which means I'll be starting my usual Saturday drinking escapade an hour early. I may invite some friends to stay with me but they are probably scared and ran already. Oh well I have my dog and he likes football and beer as well.
So my friends if I'm not heard from after Early Tuesday morning I've either drank myself into a coma waiting on the impending doom, or the electricity is out and in which I'll have nothing better to do but drink myself into a stupor. Either that or I'll be chilling in the back yard now that I'll have a swimming pool. Then again if I do that I might get swallowed up by some 11ft Gator, hmmm that might not be such a good idea after all.
Well in either case have a great weekend and enjoy the start of the first weekend of the greatest time of the year...college football!
I love this time of year, you know that time of year when all the smack talk gets tossed around by every fan of every team. I'm talking college football here folks, forget the NFL (even though I love it as well) nothing compares to the exitement and passion during the the college football season. Thank God it's just a few days away now. I may need to refill my xanax prescription if this season is anything like 2007.
Most of you know that I am a huge fan of the LSU Tigers. After the season they had last year and the many close games you can understand why I was on prescription medicine. I don't expect it to change much this season, starting with the first game against Appy st.
Yeah that same team that shocked the college football world when they beat a #5 ranked Michigan team in 2007. Can they do it again? Sure they can, this is a very talented team and are coached very well. Will they do it again? Probably not as LSU is well aware of what they are capable of.
Besides all that as good of a team as Michigan is, their team last season was and is not LSU. The Tigers defense upfront will once again be one of the top in the nation. Sure they lost DT Glen Dorsey the most decorated player in the programs history. Although if memory serves me right, Dorsey wasn't the best player on the defensive side of the ball during the SEC championship game or the BCS national championship game. No I do believe it was one Ricky Jean-Francois who came out of nowhere and seemingly dominated the competition.
Ok so you'll say what about the loss of CB's Chevis Jackson and Jonathan Zenon. Those are big shoes to fill but don't believe for one second that they were as good as advertised. No it was the LSU defensive line and LB's that made those young men look pretty darn good. I expect much of the same this season especially with the return of DE Kirston Pittman leading the way. Also let's not forget that DT Charles Alexander will be back after being injured all of last season. Teams will find it very hard to establish a run game against those three monsters.
On the offensive side the biggest losses will be Jacob Hester who was as clutch a player as was ever seen at this program. When Miles needed a few yards or inches on the seemingly many times he went for it on fourth down, it was Hesters number that was called. However there are 4 other Backs who all had many touches last season to fill that role. Also QB Matt Flynn is gone but let's be honest here, Flynn wasn't that great of a QB but he played pretty mistake free ball. H e got the ball into the playmakers hands, which is all that will be asked of Soph. QB Andrew Hatch and freshman Jarret Lee. Both of these young men are capable of doing what it takes to get the job done.
What will make these young mens Job a heck of a lot easier is an offensive line that is great. G Herman Johnson who is a beast and T Ciron Black are both returning and you would have a hard time convincing me there is a better pair out there. Also with NFL caliber WR's Demetrius Byrd and Brandon LaFell still in the fold, both are capable of doing everything needed to help this team win.
So while everyone else is ready to annoint the Georgia Bulldogs or the Florida Gators as the SEC champions and Possible BCS Champions. I'm going to hold out and wait for the games to be played. Because in reality none of those teams have the overall talent that LSU has. We all know injuries happen to every team and someone else will have to step up. The cupboard is nowhere near bare in Baton Rouge. This is still A damn strong team...have a great day!
Please forgive me for posting this in the NFL section, I tried to tag it with the NCAAFB but it would not post.
One of the most talked abbout things when it concerns the defending BCS champions the LSU Tigers is who's going to be the QB and can he get the job done? LSU has two kids batteling other for that Spot. Freshman Jarret Lee and harvard transfer Andrew Batch. I came up with these youtube videos of both QB's for you to make an opinion on who looks prepared to possibly help these Tigers make another run for the championship.
Here's a video of just one of the returning talented RB's of the Tigers. Bring on the Gators and Dawgs!I fully expect good things each season from LSU for many more yesars to come.
I know we are only days removed from LSU's dismantling of the Buckeyes in the BCS Title game, trust me I havn't stopped celebrating yet. I want to take a look at some teams from the SEC that should have pretty good seasons in 2008 and possibly vie for the BCS Title. Will my Tigers have enough left over after April's NFL draft to be competetive? Will the loss of coach Pelini hurt this team? Georgia the hottest team going down the stretch and even in their bowl game was extremely impressive what's in store for them? Can Tenn. bounce back and win the SEC East again? What about Fla. and Tim tebow? Surely they'll be a better team this coming season. Let's take a look at each team (with the exception of bottom feeders like Vandy and Ol' Miss.) and were they may be ranked and finish come the beggining and end of next season.
LSU- We all know at this time LSU and it's fans are still enjoying being champions of the 2007-2008 season. But what about this coming season? LSU will have much to replace especialy on the defensive side. None bigger than coach Pelini who's defense mauled OSU's offense and QB in the BCS championship game. whom ever they replace him with has huge shoes to fill. LSU fans are used to winning these days and will not take it lightly if a new coach comes in and things look bad. With the exits of Glen Dorsey, Jacob Hester, Matt Flynn and Early Doucet one would think that the Tigers are in a bit of trouble but that just may not be the case. Qb Ryan Perrilloux will fill the shoes of Flynn and just may be better at the position. Once the most highly recruited player, he'll get his chance to maybe lead the Tigers back to the SEC Title game and another great season. At Rb LSU is still loaded so losing Hester isn't as bad as it looks. Keiland Williams will probably be the starter and he gives you a little bit of quickness and toughness. To offset that LSU still has Charles Scott and Trindon Holliday along with Richard Murphy who has shown some good talent as well. With a weak non- conference shedule LSU should be the top team in the SEC west once again. Helping their strength of shedule will be that Georgia rotates on to it this coming season. I like them to start the preseason just out the top 5 and finish within it. No BCS championship will be heading to Baton Rouge again this coming season but an SEC Title and Sugar Bowl birth is very much possible.
Georgia- Was this team on fire or not come the end of this season. I, being a huge college football fan and only wanting to see great games between good teams would have prefered the "Dawgs" over Tenn. in the SEC Title game. Maybe then if LSU had beaten them they would have gotton more respect, ah but I doubt it. Anyway this in my opinion will be the toughest team come next season. Forget about the USC's, LSU's and teams like that Georgia just may be playing the last game of the season come Jan.2009. With a sensational freshman season, RB Knowshon Mareno is also my fav. to be the top rusher by seasons end. Qb Matt Stafford is getting better each year and each game as was evidenced by the Bulldogs pounding of Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl. Although they'll be losing Marcus Howard who was pivotal to their defense they should have no trouble replacing him. The Dawgs will be bringing back all but 5 players this season and Coach Mark Richt is a fine coach who'll have these boys ready to dismantle all competition. Some momentum and Animosity of being slighted out of the BCS championship may play a huge part in the success of the Bulldogs next season. I see them starting out top 3 and just may end up #1 overall come the end of the season.
Florida- Tim Tebow and a more mature defense should be all I have to say about this team. Rumors are that the Gators might go back to the 2 Qb rotation that was successful for them two years ago and has worked for LSU this year as well. Urban Myer is a good coach and I am sure he'll have this team back to form come seasons start. A young defense is mostly to blame for them not having as much success as in the past couple of years. The one thing that they do need to do this year is to find a running back to take some of the work off of QB Tim Tebow. RB tranfer from USC Emanuel Moody might just be the guy to do that for the Gators. Make no mistake about it other teams know that so goes Tebow, so goes the Gators and they'll do their best to limit Tebows running and force him to throw more. Surprisingly to me and some others he can throw the ball fairly well. With Jr. WR Percy Harvin returning they can be a combination that'll be hard to stop this season. Also helping the Gators is that 9 out of their 12 games will be in state. Including a showdown with Georgia in Jacksonville. That game just may determine who comes out the East side of the SEC to play for the Title. I see them ranked preseason within top 5 and finishing in the top ten. It all rest on what happens against Georgia.
Auburn-This is a team that baffles me every season. At times they look unbeatable and other times just downright horrific to say the least. They are returning 8 starters on both offense and defense but coaching changes can have this group playing without any identity. On the offensive side they'll be moving to a spread offense with the hiring of Tony Franklin from Troy. Qb is the hugest concern for them as they'll need to replace Brandon Cox, Soph. Kodie Burns is set to replace him. Auburn must go into WV this season but are benifited by hosting LSU, Tenn., Arkansas and Georgia at home. I don't see this team making much more noise than they did this past season. Don't take them for granted though Tommy Tubberville is a good coach and will always have them competing. I see them starting out in the top 20 but going no further than 15 and finishing the same if not worse.
South Carolina- Coach Spurrier hasn't lived up to the hype he gets every season. Sure this team is much better than befor he took over but still get thrashed by the bigger boys in the SEC. While not an elite team from this conference they are certainly no Vanderbilt. It'll all start with QB Chris smelly as he'll be taking over for departed Blake Mitchell. Which in my honest opinion is an upgrade from last year. This past season though they had trouble running the ball. which they'll have to improve to give Smelly a chance. The defense had trouble stopping the run al season as well. That does not bode well in the SEC if you want to be successful. I see much the same from them this season as well. They'll start off hot and finish off with a subpar season. question is if they finish 6-6 or worse again willthe Old ball coach be looking for a new job? Or maybe the fan base is just fine with being a middle of the road SEC team. I'll put them in the top 25 but they'll be out of it befor season ends.
As for the rest of the SEC I don't see to much going on. Bama has a tough Schedule having to open the season against Clemson which will be a top tier team this coming season. They also have to travel to Baton Rouge which will be the first time for coach Saban since he left for the NFL. No doubt that'll be a game to mark down on your calender if you love SEC football or just a college football fanatic. The rest will be bottom dwellers this season and that includes Tenn. I don't see to much happening with this team till they get rid of fat Phil. All in all I am already anxious for a new season to start. I love college football and love my Tigers even more. Geaux Tigers in 2008 and goodluck to all the other teams out there
The chants of SEC could be heard coming loud from the mouths of Tiger fans. Showing the rest of the country just how much we love and respect SEC football. Although this should come as no surprise to anyone here as it's evident how we always defend it and also represent it. I've only been on this blog site for a few months now and I have been accused a number of times of bieng a homer, thing is I am. I've defended while teams from the SEC have represented it well. As can be seen by the bowl record of 7-2.
To top it of for the second season in a row and 4 times in ten years, I do believe it shows we are just playing down right better football in the South at this time. You may not agree and that's your right, it's not only my opinion but I think the past 10 years of SEC football speaks for itself.
LSU represented the SEC well lastnight and I am very proud of my team. When it seemed like OSU was going run away with it they settled down and played like it wasn't nothing new to them. Actually it wasn't anything new. Four times LSU was down in some great games against a tough opponent and won all four. QB matt Flynn stayed poised and did well in this game. It was also very nice to see them shower coach Pellini with the Gator-aid at the end of the game. He gave LSU three great years and called an exellent defensive game lastnight. Nebraska is very lucky to get a coach like him. He'll have all college football fans respecting and taking notice of the Husker program.
Les Miles also did a wonderful job lastnight. One of the things I heard the most was that Tressel was going to out coach Miles. Guess we found out different didn't we. Miles out coached him on every point. When LSU was down 10 nothing he huddled his team together and talked to them to settle them down and let them know we been here befor. Between Miles and O. C. Gary Crowton they moved the ball on offense rather smoothly.
LSU became the first team to win the BCS Title twice since it was implemented 10 years ago. They also became the first 2 loss team to win both the BCS Title and the AP Title. Pretty remarkable season for the Tigers and no matter whether you agree they belonged or not. Whether they are the true champions in your mind. The fact remains they are and also to be respected.
I am all for a playoff system just as you are. Heck I'll even take the plus one game if that's all I can get. For now though the BCS is what we have and until the Big10, Pac10,Rose Bowl and ABC officials pull their heads out their rear ends it's what we have. I'll end this with a Geaux Tigers and Geaux SEC!
There is a lot I've been reading as of this morning on whether the SEC is as tough as we homers claim it is. Most of those comments are made by PAC-10 homers of which most of those are USC fans. One could only guess that it's a way to help them feel better about how USC has not lived up to the hype this year. To me it is pure ignorance, and most can't make a valid point on why they believe this. Sure they'll say things like Tenn. lost to a Pac-10 team and Bama just got beat by Uni. Louisiana at Monroe. But does this make the SEC weaker than most years, maybe. One thing is for certain the SEC will put more teams in a bowl game than the much weaker Pac-10.
So now the big buzz is that LSU doesn't want to face Georgia in the SEC Title game. Give me a break, this is still the same Georgia team that lost to Fat Phil and Tenn. They are playing off of hype and let's be realistic people, that can only carry you so far. LSU plays 60 full minutes and your lead is never safe against the Tigers of Baton Rouge. You can cry to me about how they got lucky in this game and that one. You can #### about they get all the calls their way (actually they are the most penalized team in the SEC) and you can groan about the SOS. Fact remains they have played a more impressive schedule than any of the other top teams.
So now it's on to Arkansas and the Heismann Hopeful D-Mac. This is the big test for the defense. Stopping a runner who seems to be on a mission to prove that even though his team sucks, he's still that damn good. Not an easy task in my opinion. Arkansas has no passing game at all though. which will allow LSU to crowd the line of scrimmage and keep D-Mac in check. LSU has some pretty good CB's so leaving them in 1 on 1 situations to bring the safety's closer to the line isn't such a bad thing. I see the Tigers beaten the snot bubbles out of the Razorbacks.
Which brings me to the SEC Title game and either Georgia or Tenn. Neither one of these teams has what it takes to beat LSU in my opinion. I know, I know, they only have to be good for one night but it isn't going to happen. The only things that concern me are the injuries LSU is facing towards this seasons ending. We have seen last night though with LSU LB Catrera, We have 3rd and 4th string players that are good enough to start for most teams. Catrera filled in for LB Darry Beckwith and played like he had been there all season. DT Glen Dorsey had an undisclosed injury lastnight also. The team wouldn't say what was hurting him but if I had to guess it is that his knee is still very sore from the cheap shot taken by two Auburn offensive lineman a few weeks ago.
After OU's beating by a damn good offense in Texas Tech. the BCS top 5 should look like this later today.
#1- LSU #2-Kansas #3-Mizzou #4-West Virginia #5- OSU
Until someone loses and another rises to the top 5 all the rest doesn't matter. Please leave a comment and thanks for reading. Geaux Tiger!!!!
Now I know what alot of people will be thinking Ohio St. should be #1 after LSU'S stunning loss to Kentucky. I say hold up a minute what about USF. This team is just as OSU undefeated. The thing that seperates them though is USF beat quality opponents. The BCS and all their infinate wisdom (my attempt at sarcasm) will not even see that.
With Cal losing to Oregon St. this will move USF to #2 but it's not a fair treatment whatsoever. I'm not so sure USF would want that ranking seeing as to how the mighty fall each week. OSU on the other hand will probably welcome it as they are still punch drunk from last years thrashing by Florida in the BCS game. It's their way of getting over it so let them have it.
Honestly I believe if it comes down to these two teams playing for the BCS title USF would beat them into retirement. They have a very good offense, one that might be better than the UF had last year. Wouldn't shock me after watching this years season and how it has unfolded so far.
Thing is there are still some one loss teams that can grab a place in the big dance of college football. LSU,Kentucky,S. Car.,USC,Cal and OU all have a legitimate chance of being there. More than likely one of these teams will be. whoever wins the SEC title they have an argument to be there. If OU wins the Big 12 so do they. If Cal or USC win the Pac 10 they also will no doubt be campaigning for a spot.
So go ahead OSU gloat and enjoy it while it last. USF continue to sit back and win like you have been. All the one loss teams hold your heads up because on any giveing Saturday you can be right back in the thick of things. This season has been nothing less than pure maddness.
The perfect breakfast as I see it.
You’re sitting at the table and your son is on the cover of Wheaties, your mistress is on the cover of Playboy, and your wife is on the back of the milk carton.
