A meeting of the minds...Miles and Meyer.
Oct 09, 2008 | 11:04AM | report this

Ones a huge gambler and ones an offensive genius, both are the best coaches in the SEC and both are winners of the last two BCS championships. Urban Meyer and Les Miles will be opposite each other on the sidelines trying to out do each other on Sat. which in my mind just might be the best game in the SEC this season.

Sure the Iron Bowl is a traditional rivalry but has been dominated by Auburn as of late. The Worlds largest cocktail party is also a very good rivalry game but known more for the tailgate party than anything. LSU vs Fla. has championship implications to go along with some drama, which has already been kicked off with the statement made by LSU DT Jean-Francois.

So which is the better coach of the two? Pundits will say that Miles won his BCS national championship with Saban recruits. If that is true then the same can be said for Meyer who had a handful of the Zooksters players when they won it all. This season both coaches have the players they chose, now it's up to them to get the most out of them.

The Gators DB's were considered young and inexperienced last season, they are still very vulnerable though. Another thing Meyer will need to do is get his lines to be more physical, LSU brings in arguably the best offensive and defensive lines in the nation.

For all the talk that Tebow would run the ball less this season, Meyer has had to use him often because the run game isn't that strong. Miles running game this season with Charles Scott is just as good if not better than last season with Jacob Hester. Scott is a bruising down hill runner who breaks tackles and wears defensive fronts down as the game gets in the latter quarter.

Tebow and Percy Harvin are Meyers biggest threats but neither have faced this season what will be gunning for them on Saturday. LSU likewise hasn't faced an offense as good as the Gators run. Miles will have to have his secondary ready because against much weaker competition they have struggled and often looked confused.

When asking who the better coach is consider this, Miles holds his own in just about every catagory with Meyer. Miles has a better SEC record, a better record against nationally ranked teams, more Top 10 finishes and fewer losses to unranked teams. traditionaly the home team has won most of the time, however the same was true for the LSU and Auburn game but LSU defied the odds this season. LSU has also beaten the Gators 3 out of the last four meetings.

So again I ask who's the better coach, I guess we'll shall see atleast for a few weeks come Saturday. These two could still end up meeting again in Atlanta for the SEC championship game, then we can start that discussion all over.

That's this weeks tigertoons.org animation. I'll be catching up to Rev. out there so I can see the look on his face when Teablow gets teabagged by the LSU defense. My guess is Teabow will be crying like a little school girl again this season after losing.  Maybe Teabow should adopt the Revs method of dealing with the pain of losing...straight Jack until your numb!

Was LSU's DT Rickey Jean-Francois comment about Tebow unsportsman like?
Oct 08, 2008 | 9:51AM | report this

This week LSU DT, last seasons SEC championship game and BCS Title game MVP Ricky Jean-Francois was quoted as saying... "If we get a good shot on (Tebow), we're going to try our best to take him out of the game."  The interview was done by the Orlando Sentinel and was picked up by ESPN.

Though two-thirds of the people responding to an online poll at ESPN.com dubbed Jean-Francois' words "no big deal." Florida offensive coordinator Dan Mullen was quoted Tuesday as saying the  remarks seemed "unsportsmanlike" and was "not part of the game that we teach here."

Jean-Francois issued another statement to clarify his meaning. "We never go into any football game trying to hurt a player from the other team," Jean-Francois' statement read. "My comments in regard to (Tebow) were misinterpreted and were intended to reflect the style of football that we play at LSU. We have great respect for Tim as a player and competitor. By taking him out of the game, I meant as a defense we are going to try to make him ineffective. I'm sorry that my initial comments were interpreted another way."

Also when Tebow was asked about the statement from Jean-Francois he said, "I don't think he meant it like people took it; I think the school has put out a clarification."

This is football right? I think for anyone to take it as a threat to end Tebow's career need to watch college volley ball then. This is a game of true passion and violence but nobody is trying to hurt the other player, unless you are the to morons on the offensive line for Auburn last season who took out Glenn Dorsey.

I want to hear your opinion and comments on what Jean-Francois said. Do you think it was unsportsman like and do you think he is out to hurt Tebow?

One step forward, two steps back!
Oct 07, 2008 | 5:41PM | report this

I've never in my years of watching the New Orleans Saints can remember them ever having as many injuries as what has happened so far this season. Well we can add another player to the list because rookie starter at CB Tracy Porter is done for the season with a dislocated wrist that will require surgery.

This team is losing an average of 2 players a week since the season started and we are only going into week 6. The real bad part about this injury is now Jason David who was benched because he couldn't cover a bed with a blanket will probably take over as the # 2 CB. Remember the Saints D was one of the worst defenses against the pass last season...David was to blame for most of the huge plays that they gave up.

Porter was playing relatively well as a rookie and had beat out Jason David, Randall #### and second year corner Usama Young for the starting position. He was showing signs of possibly being what is called a shut down corner and the future is promising for this young kid. His progress will now be delayed until next season.

This doesn't bode well for the Saints at all because David was also the man who was beat last night on the long pass play that put the Vikings in field goal range, which they eventually kicked and won the game. Us Saints fans can look for it to be an even longer season now but here's the good news, atleast we'll possibly get a nice first round draft pick. Saints better make it a good one considering we gave up so many picks to aquire LB Jonathan Vilma and Jeremy Shockey...oh yeah the latter player just so happens to be hurt and out for a few more weeks also.

Here's some good news though, next game is against the Oakland Raiders, so maybe...well nevermind about that. I guess we'll just have to sit back and see how the rest of the season goes, although I am not very optomistic at all.

Is it time for the NBA yet?

Week 5 Saints and Sinners!
Oct 07, 2008 | 7:23AM | report this

Well the New Orleans Saints looked like the "Bad news Bears" of the NFL last night on prime time T.V. in front of the whole nation. They gift wrapped a win for the Vikings and consistantly shot themselves in the foot. Without further ado here's this weeks "Saints and Sinners."

Saints:

Reggie Bush- Bush had a very productive night, especially in the return game. He tied an NFL record with two punt returns for Td's becoming just the 12th player in NFL history to do so.Both returns came in the second half and were crucial in helping the Saints turn a 20-10 deficit into a 27-20 lead. He almost returned another, but tripped on the turf. The Saints turned that into a field goal that tied the game at 20.

Drew Brees- Brees was as cerebral as he's been all season long. Drew Bress threw for 330 yards, however everything he did was over shadowed by mistake after mistake from his teamates. Anyone who doesn't say he's the best Qb playing right now is simply just a homer or in denial.

Devery Henderson- Henderson was the recipient of some great passes from Brees. Henderson caught a pass for 52 yds on one play and ended the night with 104 yds receiving. Henderson has a rediculous yds per catch total of over 40.

Defense-The defense played exceptional, which is very surprising because it's the weakest point on the team. They held phenom A.P. to just 32 yds rushing for the game. Hats off to Garry Gibbs and his players for a great scheme. This is two weeks in a row that the defense has played well. Seems each week they get better and better.

Jo-Lon Dunbar- He gets in this week simply for the block he made on the first punt return by Reggie Bush. He decleated a Viking defender who never seen the hit coming. This kid continues to play with lots of energy and will someday be a nice LB for some team, hopefully the Saints.

Roman Harper- He is one of the main reasons A.P. didn't torch the Saints for about 250 yds. He filled the gaps and was in on almost every tackle for short yards that A.P. had. Harper is without a doubt the best tackler and with the exception of Mike McKenzie the best defensive back the Saints have.

Tracy Porter- The rookie played one of his best games to date. I have the feeling had he not been hurt on that great but lucky catch by Benard Berrian in which players collided, he'd had not been burned the way Jason David was that set Minn. up for the winning field goal.

Sinners:

Offensive line- The constant false starts and holding penalties are part of what did the Saints in last night. Although the protection of Brees was relatively good there were times that they had trouble picking up the blitz. I credit the Minn. D though for doing a great job with that.

Robert Meachem- Wr's and false starts aren't supposed to happen...at all! He was called once for it but actually was guilty twice when the refs called the wrong number on another. Coach Shaun Payton seems to not like to play the kid much already and if not for injuries I doubt he'd even touch the field again. He needs to get his act together or he'll find himself on another roster next season possibly.

Lance Moore- It's hard to pick on Moore who has been a constant pro and a very sure handed receiver for the Saints. However the bobbled ball that hit his knee in the red zone really hurt. Not that the Vikings scored from it but it took away a possible score by the Saints.

Gramatica- Ok can any Saints fan explain to me why we waste a draft pick on a kicker only to cut him? Twice in three weeks Gramatica has missed a field goal that possibly lost the game for the Saints. Groin injury or not it's time to cut our losses with this old man. His confidence will surely be shaken after this game and there's not telling just how many more times he'll miss a few field goals. Bring back the rookie who has a seriously strong leg.

Jason David- Once again he has shown that the only thing he is consistant at is getting burned. On the deep pass that set up the winning field goal David was covering Benard Berrian. Tracy Porter was out with a hand injury suffered during the TD pass collision. He is another player the Saints payed lots of money to 2 years ago and just need to cut their losses with. I played DB in high school and would play for the league min. knowing I couldn't do any worse than this punk!

Referees- Now I'm not one to use the refs as an excuse because I feel that regardless all these players are pro's and should be able to get pass that. What bothers me is two things; 1. The face mask on Reggie Bush that in turn resulted in a fumble. It's not like Bush was in a pile or close to the ground. He was clearly up right running and there is no way to justify how they missed that call. 2. The fumble or better yet non fumble by A.P.! That was clearly a fumble and never in my years of watching football have I ever heard it explained that a player was losing the ball but gripped it with one hand when his knee touched the ground. It was a fumble and there is no way anyone will make me see it any other way.

So there you go guys that's this weeks Saints and sinners. New Orleans should have won this game easily but such wasn't what happened. They have only themselves to blame for letting this game get sloppy on their part.

Note to my friends here: Due to this site and the idiots who run it after I am done competeing in Mike Greenspires blogger competition I'll be leaving. I am sick of the #### that goes on, the constant favortism and censorship has gotten out of hand. I have asked one blogger who works here to tell the techs that my blogs do not show up in most commented or recently commented blogs box and well nothing has been done to fix this. I even wrote them on 3 seperate occasions about this problem that has been going on for a litle over 7 months now. All I get is an automated email that says they'll look into the problem but once again nothing has been done. It shows me that either their are nothing but morons working for them or that they don't even give a damn, as long as they are making money off of you and me that's all that matters.

Not sure what I'll do or where I'll be once I leave. I will let all of you know before hand and if I do move on to another site, I hope you'll visit me there. Have a great week guys/ladies and God bless you and the family.

NFL Bloggers competition: AFC South not what it once was...
Oct 06, 2008 | 8:05AM | report this

With the exception of the Tenn. Titans no team in the AFC South is as good as the past couple of seasons. The conference has a total of 9 wins, 5 of those wins by the unbeaten Titans. The division also has the same amount of losses as wins, that's surprising when you consider the teams that make up the AFC South.

The Colts have to be the most surprising team in this division to me. The have arguably the best Qb in the league and a very potent offense all together. However Peyton Manning hasn't looked all that great this season after off season surgery and I think Marvin Harrison is on the decline. The defense isn't playing with much purpose, even though they have never been the strong point of this team.Considering it was just a few seasons ago they won a Super Bowl the defense played exceptional during those playoffs. I think they'll make the playoffs but this team doesn't have anyone in the league scared of them.

They have yet to win a game at home and are 1-1 in the division and are pretty lucky to have even beat the Texans on Sunday. If not for the mishaps of a backup Qb then the Colts might not be a .500 ball club at this point.

The Texans are a bad ball club and that's saying it nicely. This team can't win a game even when they clearly have a win in their back pocket. At 0-4 they can start thinking about next season already. History shows that teams who start the season winless in their first 4 games don't go on to do much. They have no productive play at the Qb position and with the exception of Andre Johnson they don't have much else on offense. The Defense has some pretty good players namely Mario Williams and DeMeco Ryans, but after that the defense is hollow.

They are 0-3 within the division and that just doesn't bode well for the Texans who had some promise comeing into the season. They should be putting together a plan on what Qb they'll be drafting this April.

After a successful 2007 season and some great Qb play the Jaguars haven't exactly played up to that same potential. David Garrard although I believe he's a good Qb hasn't performed quite as good as he did last season. The defense is'nt the monster it has been in past season as well. They'll be in a dog fight all season with the Colts just to be second in this division. I'm not sure if they'll make a playoff push, although I think if they certainly have the team to do it.

At 2-3 they need to play with a sense of urgency and not let the Colts get far away from them. I do think they are a better team than the Colts but any team with Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne can put together a string of wins. It will be interesting to see what Coach Jack Del rio can do from heere on out.

The Titans just might be the best team in the NFL right now! The defensive line is relentless and Haynesworth is almost unblockable. I also happen to believe that coach Jeff Fisher is the best coach in the NFL who hasn't won a Super Bowl. The Man just wins and gets the best out of his players. He was also smart to start Kerry Collins over Vince Young, who in my opinion isn't a team player. They'll easily win this division and baring injuries will probably only lose 3 or less this season. They are getting great production from the Rb position and Collins is a vet. who takes care of the ball and does enough to help this offense score. The defense is the best in the league hands down. I'll go out on a limb and say the Titans will be in the Super Bowl and if they are healthy I can't see any NFC team beating them.

The Titans are 2-0 in the division and 4-0 in the conference. Their Schedule is very favorable for them to have the best record in the AFC come playoff time.

As a whole the AFC South may not be the worst division in football but as of right now it's not even the best in the AFC. I and I'm sure amny others expected more from the Colts and Jaguars, both playoff teams last season. The season is still relatively early and anything can happen from here on out.

Brees selected as NFC offensive player of the month
Oct 03, 2008 | 6:27AM | report this

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees is the main reason the Saints are an even relevent team these past 3 seasons. In fact Brees as been as good if not better throwing the ball than Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, widely considered the best two QB's in the game today.

Brees has been the staple of coach Shaun Paytons offensive arial attack along with receiver Marques Colston. However Brees has been without Colston this 3 out of it's first 4 games. That hasn't hinderd Brees one bit as he continues to fire away and find Wr's like Lance Moore,Robert Meachem and Devery Henderson none of which are household names consistantly open for huge gains.

In September Brees completed 107-of-148 passes (72.3 percent) for 1,343 yards, with eight touchdowns and a 106.9 passer rating. Over the course of the first month of regular season play, Brees leads the NFL in completions, completion percentage and passing yards, ranks second in attempts and average gain, and third in passer rating.

Despite losing top targets WR Marques Colston, TE Jeremy Shockey and WR David Patten due to injuries during the first four contests, Brees still averaged 335.7 passing yards per game putting him on pace to break the NFL record for yards in a season. He has 11 completions of 25 yards or more over the first four games, including four of over 50. It's an award earned and well deserved by a Qb who doesn't get the attention a Tony Romo or Eli Manning does.

Brees will have a chance to start the month of October against the Minnisota Vikings, a team who's pass defense is extremely suspect. Now I'm a bit biased but in my honest opinion there is no better Qb playing right now than Drew Brees. Sure the Saints are sitting at 2-2 but two of those losses can't be put on the shoulders of Brees. If the Saints are able to gain 1 yd on running plays, there may have been a different out come against both the Redskins and Broncos. However such is not the case and the Saints record is what it is.

The rest of their Oct. Schedule is favorable for the Saints to win and Brees should be able to add to his great numbers and hopefully garner a few more wins. So goes Brees so goes the Saints. Having a consistant running game will help and now that Deuce McAllister has returned that should be the case.

Brees is definatly making a case as possibly being one of the best Qb's who ever played the game. What is certain is that he is the best Qb to ever wear the Black & Gold uniform of the Saints.

Note: Since it seems some have issues with comprehending what I mean by this article, I want to clear up that I am in no way saying Brees is the best ever or will he be. Just that he is well on his way if he continues to put up the stats that he is. Only 7 other Qb's have had more passing yards than Brees in the first 4 games of a season, it was done twice by Drew Bledsoe.

Week 4 Saints and Sinners!
Sep 29, 2008 | 11:09AM | report this

Week 4 was a good one for Saints fans as a few injured players returned to the lineup. It was great to have Scott Fujita back on defense but the there was one player whom the Saints fans have been waiting to see...

Saints:

Deuce Mcallister: The anticipation to see Deuce back in the lineup has been building for the past two weeks. he gained 73 yds  1  TD on 20 carries and the chants of Deuce could be heard for miles away from the dome. There were some signs of just how healthy Deuce was, on his first carry he was seemingly stopped for maybe a yard but pushed the pile of S.F defenders that were drapped all over him for 5 yds. Also on his lone TD Deuce jumped over the goal line for an easy score. I think it's safe to say not only is he healthy but opposing defenses will be seeing a healthy dose of McAllister.

Drew Brees: Brees is having absolutely his best season as a Saint so far. He's passing for 300 + yds a game, all this and he's without his two biggest threats Marques Colston and Jeremy Shockey. That hasn't stopped Brees one bit as it seems it doesn't matter who is out there and Brees disects a defense as good as any QB in the game. Brees has a QB rating of 106.9 so far and has thrown for 1,343 yds with 8TD's.

Lance Moore: Moore stepped up huge this week with two TD's and 7 catches for 101 yds and two TD's. With Colston and Shockey injured and not due back for a few more weeks, they needed one of it's recievers to really stand up...Moore was that man. He has very reliable hands and has a nack for find an open spot underneath the defense when they play zone.

Robert Meachem: All this guy does is make huge play after huge play when given the opportunity to do so. He caught a long pass play that was defended perfectly on a flea flicker and also burned the defender for another long TD pass from Brees. This young man should be seeing more playing time and could be even more dangerous once Colston returns.

The Defense: I could have broke this down into certain player because there were a few that stood out. However I think they played well as a unit by first holding Frank Gore under 100 yds. Then the D-Line sacked J.T. O'Sullivan 5 times. 2 for DE Charles Grant, 1 for DE Will Smith, 1 each for DT Sedrick Ellis and Kendrick Clancy. Rookie Tracy Porter had a sack and an interception yesterday. S Kevin Kaesviharn also had an interception as well.

Shaun Payton: He goes in as a Saint this week simply for finaly playing Deuce McAllister.

Def. Coordinator Gary Gibbs: Like Payton he has gained criticism from fans the last two weeks. However yesterday he got more creative with his schemes and blitz an aweful lot. Funny how I said that he needed to blitz more to be succesful, which is exactly what happened.

Sinners:

Reggie Bush: Bush is the lone sinner this week and it isn't for any reason other than he simply didn't seem focused out there. Granted S.F. defense did an excellent job of containing him when he did get his hands on the ball. He seemed to be getting frustrated and I think that kind of took him out his game. Bush is talented and having his best season so far. He'll be called upon a lot this season and with Deuce back to carry the heavy load, I have no doubt Bush will be a serious threat to other teams jsut like the 2006 season.

Well that's this weks Saints and Sinners. I'm hoping the latter part is as short like this every week. If the Saints can get some more starters healthy they'll continue to put up impressive numbers and win lots of games.

NFL Bloggers competition: Is Favre in for a Long Season?
Sep 29, 2008 | 6:21AM | report this

Before the 2008 season started nobody outside of the N.Y.Jets fans would guess that they'd be one of the AFC East top team, Then came Brett Favre. Even then there would be those that would be skeptical, after six TD's this past Sunday, I think some of those skeptics may be looking to change their minds. The potential this team has is promising.

Favre may not have wanted to be in N.Y. and it can be a tough place for any athlete to play, Favre is a veteran and one of, if not the best to play the position. The Jets aren't a bad team and even going back to last season you could see they were just missing a real leader behind center. Favre is as good a leader and QB you'll find in the NFL.

He's seen it all in his long career, nothings new to Favre. No defensive scheme you throw at him can he not handle if his offensive line affords him the time to pick the opposing defense apart. Favre has been a stud his whole career and I feel whether this is his last season or not, that will continue.

He's made the Jets a playoff caliber team the minute he signed on the dotted line, and a threat to any team that stands in there way. Make no mistake about it, the Jets will win the AFC East and Favre is the reason for that. He makes all his teamates better by just being behind the center. His teamates play harder because they know they have a guy like Favre who'll give them a chance to be successful.

There's no doubt that guys like WR L.Coles and J.Cotchery appreciate having a QB with Favres skills. Favre is the best at making something from nothing when plays seem busted. He improvises better than anyone in the NFL at any position. We've seen this a number of times in his long career in Green Bay. I think we'll see it a few more times this season in N.Y. as well.

So the question will Brett Favre be in for a long season? yes, because after the regular season his team the N.Y. Jets will win playoffs games. That in itself makes for a long season.

Deuce and Brees power Saints to win!
Sep 28, 2008 | 7:28PM | report this

Deuce McAllister trotted out on the field today for his first start since early in the 2007 season in which he tore an ACL in his left knee. Fans have been anxiously awaiting his return...he'd not disappoint them! McAllister gave the Saints the power running game they lacked for the first 3 games this season. He converted first down after first down, It allowed QB Drew Brees to do what he does best...burn DB's with his arm.

In the Saints two losses they failed to convert critical third and ones, for Deuce that wasn't a problem at all. Even when he was hit at the line of scrimmage he kept plowing forward. Sure he may have loss a step or two but his vision and power is still there. At 6'1 230 pounds S.F. had no answer for such a strong running back. Deuce ended the game with 20 carries for 73 yds 1 TD and converted a third down with a 10 yard catch.

Deuce said after the game that he could go another quarter and right now the knee feels fine. He also pointed out though that he took no real shot to the legs. With the S.F. keying in on Reggie Bush and doing a real good job of holding him down, Deuce was a real key to the Saints coming away with a win. Then there was also the best QB playing right now Drew Brees that was unstoppable as well.

Brees was on target today with the exception of one INT that was just a great play on the part of Takeo Spikes who leaped up to #### the ball out the air. Brees numbers on the day 23-of-35 for 363 yards and three scores, including touchdowns of 47 yards to Robert Meachem and 33 yards to Lance Moore. Brees also set up scores with a 52-yard pass to Meachem on a flea flicker involving McAllister, and an 81-yard connection with Devery Henderson.

Brees has been throwing for nearly 400 yds a game lately, all this with the Saints best threat Marques Colston not playing with a torn ligament in his thumb. Lance Moore who probably has the best hands on the team outside of Colston came up huge all game long. Moore had 7 receptions for 101 yds and 2 TD's. Robert Meachem also had a long touch down catch with good coverage on him.

The Saints have been lighting it up in the pass game, however they still had two losses in the past two weeks. The defense stepped up big this week. They sacked J.T. O'Sullivan 4 times one was by DE Will Smith that caused a fumble which the Saints recoverd. They also picked JT off twice in the endzone to stop S.F. from gaining any momentum late in the game.

As good as the whole team played the story of the day was still Deuce McAllister.

"We anticipated (McAllister) playing," San Francisco coach Mike Nolan said. "He did a good job, but the things that hurt us the most were the explosive plays we gave up."

In close losses at Washington and Denver, the Saints (2-2) were stuffed on a hal####ozen short-yardage situations. Saints fans flooded call-in shows with complaints about coach Sean Payton's reluctance to play McAllister, who'd had only two carries -- but gained 5 yards on each -- during the opening three weeks.

Payton said he was trying to be cautious and would play the 29-yard-old McAllister when the time was right. With San Francisco allowing an average of 131 yards rushing coming in, this was the right time.

"It was great to see Deuce back in there," Payton said. "We just felt by the nature of the game plan that this week we had a chance to run the ball a little bit more.

"Those were some tough yards that he was getting for us."

It's great to have Deuce back and he'll give the Saints another option and will also make things easier for Reggie Bush and Brees. With both Deuce and Bush in the game it will keep defenses on their toes and force them to use less blitzes.  Brees is already dangerous throwing the ball so that doesn't bode well for opposing teams.

This was a much needed win considering that Carolina and Tampa are on a roll. The Saints next few games are at home and then the bye. After which both Colston and Shockey should return to the lineup, When that happens lookout!

Another top 10 team goes down!
Sep 27, 2008 | 1:59PM | report this

Thursday night nobody and not even myself would have thought Oregon St. would take down the mighty USC Trojans. Today when Ole Miss took on the Florida it was another one of those type of games that had you scratching your head wondering what's the heck is going on.

Ole Miss. went toe to toe with the Gators and came away with a 1 point win courtesy of a blocked extra point. Florida's defense made one more stop giving Teabow and Harvin one last shot at getting into field goal range for the win. After to attempts to go long for the TD Florida was faced with a fourth and 1but Teabow was stopped cold by the Miss. D-line.

With both the #1 team USC lossing a shocker and Ole Miss. upsetting the #4 team, not to mention Georgia and Alabama two top 10 teams playing each other today, the polls will surely be shaking up come tomorrow.

Teams like BYU nad Penn. St. will more than likely get the respect they deserve. OU and LSU if they beat Miss. St. this evening will move a step or two closer to the top spot. It will be interesting to see who will be the top two teams when the new standings are released.

College football has become a whole different animal than it once was, with so much parity upsets are sure to continue throughout this season and beyond. It's become so much harder for any team from any BCS conference to go undefeated like they once did.

One thing is certain and that's both USC and Florida have plenty of time to climb back up the polls. For USC it will be a little harder as they have no ranked teams at the moment left on their schedule, Florida however still has to play both LSU and Georgia. Winning both those games could go a long way in helping them get back in a NC title hunt.

So far another crazy season in CFB and it's sure to get even crazier as we move along!

Another blow to the Saints offensive line!
Sep 23, 2008 | 7:34PM | report this

As if it's not bad enough the Saints players are going down faster than Paris Hilton in front of a home video camera, they've lost another offensive lineman for 4 games. Guard Jamar Nesbit has been suspended by the league for failing it's banned substance rule.

This hurts the Saints in more ways than one because he is the backup C also if Jonathan Goodwin goes down. He would move to C and Carl Nicks would replace him, which he is the likely replacement now at that he's gone for a few days.

This team had so much talent and promise this season that it's beggining to become sickening when everyday a player is falling off the active roster. All this and a very capable RB named Deuce McAllister is dressed but not playing.

Speaking of McAllister nola.com and Times -Picayune writer John Deshazier has written a very good article on the matter of his health and lack of playing time. Here is a link if you'd like to read, It's very thought prevoking and captures the feelings of every Saints fan in New Orleans about this matter.

It's safe to say after Shaun Payton has just recieved a 5 year contract extension he's not going anywheres any time soon. Fans are ready to send him packing though. I'm not quite sure that's what needs to be done but it would seem that players need to step up as a team and demand he stop being an arrogant fool and do play Deuce.

"Deuce's playing time is coming," Payton said Monday. "But at the same time, it has to come at the right time, when I feel like he's ready."

He also claims that Deuce is pain free and moving around pretty well, then what's the problem with giving him ample touches when everything else doesn't seem to be working.

Payton needs to pull his head out his own #### and do the right thing before it becomes like the Haslett era. By the time Haslett was ready to give up on Aaron Brooks it was to late the players gave up on Haslett. Looks like another long season in mediocrity my fellow Saints fan and for all we've been through with Benson and this team, we just don't deserve that!

Is it time for the NBA yet? The Hornets look like our best bet for a winning proffesional franchise.

Shockey out 4-6 weeks!
Sep 22, 2008 | 3:52PM | report this

The Saints are being decimated by injuries this season and TE Jeremy Shockey is just the latest victim. He'll undergo surgery for a sports hernia this week that he suffered in yesterdays game. Another blow to this team who is already missing about 7 starters. You might want to include coach Shaun Payton to the injury list also with "Brain sprain" the way he's been managing the games as of late.

If the Saints lose either Brees or Bush anytime soon, the teeam might as well pack it in. They've not found a way to win without starters Marques Colston and Scott Fujita. The Saints are down to one TE on the roster and that's Billy Miller. Yep all these injury's and the Saints went ahead and signed a QB by the name of Joey Harrignton who hasn't cut it with the last 5 or so teams he's played for.

If they Saints have found it tough to convert on 3 and 1 the past two weeks, just wait to see how hard that'll be now! Such a promising season and it looks to be heading way South. Well let's see how many guys the S.F. forty-niners can knock out next week. I'm willing to bet atleast two more important players either on defense or offense...heck why not both.

Thank God for LSU and the Hornets because if not this city might become addicted to prozac or maybe we could all just take one of these lil bad boys.
