A meeting of the minds...Miles and Meyer.
Oct 09, 2008 | 11:04AM | report this

Ones a huge gambler and ones an offensive genius, both are the best coaches in the SEC and both are winners of the last two BCS championships. Urban Meyer and Les Miles will be opposite each other on the sidelines trying to out do each other on Sat. which in my mind just might be the best game in the SEC this season.

Sure the Iron Bowl is a traditional rivalry but has been dominated by Auburn as of late. The Worlds largest cocktail party is also a very good rivalry game but known more for the tailgate party than anything. LSU vs Fla. has championship implications to go along with some drama, which has already been kicked off with the statement made by LSU DT Jean-Francois.

So which is the better coach of the two? Pundits will say that Miles won his BCS national championship with Saban recruits. If that is true then the same can be said for Meyer who had a handful of the Zooksters players when they won it all. This season both coaches have the players they chose, now it's up to them to get the most out of them.

The Gators DB's were considered young and inexperienced last season, they are still very vulnerable though. Another thing Meyer will need to do is get his lines to be more physical, LSU brings in arguably the best offensive and defensive lines in the nation.

For all the talk that Tebow would run the ball less this season, Meyer has had to use him often because the run game isn't that strong. Miles running game this season with Charles Scott is just as good if not better than last season with Jacob Hester. Scott is a bruising down hill runner who breaks tackles and wears defensive fronts down as the game gets in the latter quarter.

Tebow and Percy Harvin are Meyers biggest threats but neither have faced this season what will be gunning for them on Saturday. LSU likewise hasn't faced an offense as good as the Gators run. Miles will have to have his secondary ready because against much weaker competition they have struggled and often looked confused.

When asking who the better coach is consider this, Miles holds his own in just about every catagory with Meyer. Miles has a better SEC record, a better record against nationally ranked teams, more Top 10 finishes and fewer losses to unranked teams. traditionaly the home team has won most of the time, however the same was true for the LSU and Auburn game but LSU defied the odds this season. LSU has also beaten the Gators 3 out of the last four meetings.

So again I ask who's the better coach, I guess we'll shall see atleast for a few weeks come Saturday. These two could still end up meeting again in Atlanta for the SEC championship game, then we can start that discussion all over.

That's this weeks tigertoons.org animation. I'll be catching up to Rev. out there so I can see the look on his face when Teablow gets teabagged by the LSU defense. My guess is Teabow will be crying like a little school girl again this season after losing.  Maybe Teabow should adopt the Revs method of dealing with the pain of losing...straight Jack until your numb!

Was LSU's DT Rickey Jean-Francois comment about Tebow unsportsman like?
Oct 08, 2008 | 9:51AM | report this

This week LSU DT, last seasons SEC championship game and BCS Title game MVP Ricky Jean-Francois was quoted as saying... "If we get a good shot on (Tebow), we're going to try our best to take him out of the game."  The interview was done by the Orlando Sentinel and was picked up by ESPN.

Though two-thirds of the people responding to an online poll at ESPN.com dubbed Jean-Francois' words "no big deal." Florida offensive coordinator Dan Mullen was quoted Tuesday as saying the  remarks seemed "unsportsmanlike" and was "not part of the game that we teach here."

Jean-Francois issued another statement to clarify his meaning. "We never go into any football game trying to hurt a player from the other team," Jean-Francois' statement read. "My comments in regard to (Tebow) were misinterpreted and were intended to reflect the style of football that we play at LSU. We have great respect for Tim as a player and competitor. By taking him out of the game, I meant as a defense we are going to try to make him ineffective. I'm sorry that my initial comments were interpreted another way."

Also when Tebow was asked about the statement from Jean-Francois he said, "I don't think he meant it like people took it; I think the school has put out a clarification."

This is football right? I think for anyone to take it as a threat to end Tebow's career need to watch college volley ball then. This is a game of true passion and violence but nobody is trying to hurt the other player, unless you are the to morons on the offensive line for Auburn last season who took out Glenn Dorsey.

I want to hear your opinion and comments on what Jean-Francois said. Do you think it was unsportsman like and do you think he is out to hurt Tebow?

Another top 10 team goes down!
Sep 27, 2008 | 1:59PM | report this

Thursday night nobody and not even myself would have thought Oregon St. would take down the mighty USC Trojans. Today when Ole Miss took on the Florida it was another one of those type of games that had you scratching your head wondering what's the heck is going on.

Ole Miss. went toe to toe with the Gators and came away with a 1 point win courtesy of a blocked extra point. Florida's defense made one more stop giving Teabow and Harvin one last shot at getting into field goal range for the win. After to attempts to go long for the TD Florida was faced with a fourth and 1but Teabow was stopped cold by the Miss. D-line.

With both the #1 team USC lossing a shocker and Ole Miss. upsetting the #4 team, not to mention Georgia and Alabama two top 10 teams playing each other today, the polls will surely be shaking up come tomorrow.

Teams like BYU nad Penn. St. will more than likely get the respect they deserve. OU and LSU if they beat Miss. St. this evening will move a step or two closer to the top spot. It will be interesting to see who will be the top two teams when the new standings are released.

College football has become a whole different animal than it once was, with so much parity upsets are sure to continue throughout this season and beyond. It's become so much harder for any team from any BCS conference to go undefeated like they once did.

One thing is certain and that's both USC and Florida have plenty of time to climb back up the polls. For USC it will be a little harder as they have no ranked teams at the moment left on their schedule, Florida however still has to play both LSU and Georgia. Winning both those games could go a long way in helping them get back in a NC title hunt.

So far another crazy season in CFB and it's sure to get even crazier as we move along!

LSU edges Auburn with late comeback!
Sep 20, 2008 | 9:33PM | report this

They say History has a way of repeating itself, well someone forgot to tell LSU that on their final drive which ended with QB Jarrett Lee finding WR Brandon Lafell for an 18 yd touchdown. Lee had a rough start when he came in during the second quarter. His first five passes were incompletions and another was ill advised which turned into an interception for an Auburn TD.

When starting QB Andrew Hatch was knocked silly on a QB run, Lee had to find it within himself to stay poised and do what was necessary for his team to win...he didn't fail. Lee would finish the game 11-21 for 182 2 TD's and an int.

RB Charles Scott continued to impress me with his powerful running. He wore down a very good Auburn defensive line as the game went on. Scotts had 132 yds on 21 carries with a long of 32 and avg. around 6.3 yds a carry.

Les "The Gambler" Miles caught Auburn off guard twice in the game. Once on a perfect onside kick after just scoring a TD and again with RB Keiland Williams throwing a halfback pass for A TD.

I have to give respect to the Auburn Tigers who wouldn't just go away easy. They scored the go ahead TD with just over 8 min. to play in the fourth. However LSU's defense played tough as they did all night and got the offense the ball back with not that much time to spare but it was enough for QB Lee to complete some huge passes and none bigger than the TD with just over a minute left.

I've seen some great games between these two teams but this was a classic SEC defensive battle as neither offense is that great with the exception of LSU's offensive line and RB Charles Scott. Scott just may be the best RB in the SEC and one of the top in the nation. His bruising style of runs went a long way in helping LSU pull off this victory.

Auburn players and fans should feel no shame as the team played tough throughout, it just wasn't to be. They'll definatley still be a team to be reckoned with for some years once offensive coordinator Tony Franklins and the team has time to figure out the whole spread offense.

Overall another great Saturday in CFB and I'm just happy that LSU was able to pull this one off. Hopefully next week against another tough defense from the SEC Miss.St., LSU will be able to get the passing game going. Until then I'll be sitting back and enjoying this win.

History not on LSU's side...but I'm optomistic!
Sep 20, 2008 | 8:10AM | report this

Ok so I know what your probably thinking, todays game between LSU and the Auburn Tigers will be another boring game like last weeks Auburn and Miss. st. game. Two teams with tremendous defense and well not so great offense. If your an LSU Tiger fan though there's just a little bit more reason to be optomistic about the offense.

Sure the QB's are very untested and unproven, they'll get their first test today of what it's like to play in a premier conference game. However the offense still has some tremendous playmakers. First name that comes to mind is Charles Scott, who'd have guessed he'd be the starter coming into the beggining of the season. He's shown why though in LSU first 2 games that he posseses serious strength and very good vision. With LSU having only played two games (Troy game resched. due to Hurricane Gustav) Scott is one of the nations leading rushers. Busting huge gains against Appalachian St. and North Texas. All that with limited carries because there are some other pretty darn good RB's on this team.

LSU RB Charles Scott runs through OSU's CB in last seasons BCS NC game

LSU's massive offensive line deserves most of the credit though, I mean geez If I wasn't 180 pounds and scared to take a lick from a big and fast LB I might be able to run through the holes they produce. OT Ciron Black is 6'5 327 pound Jr. and Herman Johnson was the largest baby ever born in Louisiana, look how he's grown...6'7 387 whopping pounds! He's now a Sr. and no doubt will be one of the top offensive linman drafted this coming April.

Speaking of the NFL draft, LSU lost Early Doucet last April but there's still some pretty darn good WR's on this team. Namely Demetrius Byrd who I'm sure remembers last seasons thrilling win over Auburn when he caught the winning TD with 1 sec. on the game clock. Then there's Brandon Lafell who's a 2 year starter and played in some pretty big games for the Tigers. Add into the mix WR/RB Trindon Holliday who has world class speed  and who's a threat everytime he touches the ball and you have a kid that makes defenses sometimes look silly.

LSU WR Demetrius Byrds TD catch last Season gave his team the winWith 1 sec. left to spare.

Now on the defensive side it all starts upfront and for the LSU Tigers this unit might be as good as last years. They are arguably the best in the nation with Ricky Jean-Francois anchoring the middle. You remember him right? He was last seasons BCS championship game MVP. Makes you almost forget that the most decorated player in LSU history Glenn Dorsey even left to play with the big boys.

The LB's and DE's are a stable group of guys as well. Tyson Jackson a Sr. leads the DE's and gives most offensive lines fits with his combonation of speed and strength. LSU will be without LB Darry Beckwith because of injury last week but LSU is loaded with talent so whoever Miles plugs in is sure to produce.

The DB's are the only weak spot for this team on that side of the ball. They are young but have some tremendous athletes. Safety's Chad Jones and Harry Coleman are good tacklers and hard hitters both always seem to be in the right place and let's just hope they are tonight as the real test of how far they have come starts. Jai Eugene who saw plenty of action last season is the best CB and is a pretty good one. He affords the Tigers to be able to blitz when needed because he has one on one coverage skills. That was a huge luxary for LSU last season and something I'm sure they appreciate having this season also. They are untested and young just like the QB's on the other side of the ball but I expect them to handle their own all season.

Will history keep repeating itself and we'll see a slugfest until the final whistle? Probably so, but I'm optomistic that LSU can run away in the 4th quarter and get their first win at Auburn in quite some years. There's also the history of whoever wins this game usually represents the West in the SEC championship game. If LSU wins that's the one I'm hoping truelly repeats itself.

note: LSU has won the games against Auburn in the odd numberd years, while Auburn has won in the even numberd ones. Ironicly those games always end up at each others homes, so there's a little history lesson for you.

Sep 19, 2008 | 6:35AM | report this

First off let me thank all of you have have joined the SEC sports group. Here we all be able to post blogs on your favorite team(s) and discuss the post amongst our brethren without arguing and fussing with outsiders.

I have added the first post late lastnight and I hope you all enjoy it. To read it when you enter the group home page simply click "read all group news" from there it will bring you to another page with just the title. Click the title and there you can read it without all the words looking like one giant paragraph. Besides it's the only way to comment on anothers post.

Now if you just wanted to leave a messege for the whole group to read such as telling everyone "hey I'm going to be a new Father/Mother then you simply click on "post new messege" on the messege board.

there is also an event calender where we can set a date of maybe something important that the whole group can use as a reminder. Such as the SEC championship game date or anything else.

you'll also see a folder that say gambitxxx photo album. I have put pics in it. If you'd like to add your own pics to the group you can make your own folder. when you clic add pic it'll have the browse button and then a drop menu to place where you like. simply choose new album, that will create an album all your own.

I'm commited to making this a group we will all enjoy for a long time, or atleast however long we choose to stick around fox sports website. So I have approved for you all to do things like invite friends to join. Once we have a good amount of us I want to work on having a once a year get together. I'm going to ork closely with each and everyone of you so we can all come to an agreement on things such as time, place and date. We'll make it as convenient as we can for everyone. The only thing each will be responsible for is getting our collective SEC loving #### there. I will provide for food and drinks when you arrive. We'll discuss this more at a future date though.

For now I hope you enjoy being part of this group and I'm ecited about having each one of you. Your all great bloggers but even more wonderful people who love the SEC brand and it's teams as much as I.

So browse around the page and get familar with it. I'm sure some of you already know most of what to do and how to do it. I just thought I'd give you all a heads up before you flooded me with questions LOL! :)~

Take care guys/ladies and have a great weekend!

Come all ye SEC homers!
Sep 18, 2008 | 7:37AM | report this

Are you an SEC homer? Do you just love SEC football and other sports? Tired of trying discuss topics about the SEC and having some obnoxious punk from another conference interfering, causing you to forget what you was even talking about because you had to start laying the smack down?

Well I have the place for you! I just created a private group here at foxsports that will allow you to able to discuss all things SEC. No more worries about some left coaster who thinks he knows your own conference better than you. You'll never have to explain yourself over and over again why the SEC is the most dominant and exciting football being played.

No more questions of why we chant SEC! SEC! SEC! whenever one of our teams has just gave some team from who cares what conference a good old fashioned Southern #### beating!

This is a private group so I will need to invite you. Sorry it's the only way to keep out the undesired. All you have to do is send me a foxmail letting me know you'd like to join. I'll then send you the necessary info you need.

I'm really excited about doing this so I hope a few of my SEC brethren here will join.

I want to also say to my friends here who root for teams from other conferences that I mean no disrespect towards you, your team or conference. It's just that sometimes more often than not I get tired of hearing ignorance about how we Southerners are #### and other such stupidity when we are talking football. Other peoples personal beliefs does not matter to me or have a place when discussing what we love...Sports!

Hope to see you there!

One final note this group will be unlike any other here. As our numbers grow they'll be events I'll be trying to set up for each of us to enjoy and any ideas are certainly welcomed. With that said there's just one more thing...

SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All hail Lisa Horne Queen of the homers!
Sep 17, 2008 | 11:53AM | report this

While I love Lisa to death and she is my friend, there's no bigger homer and LSU hater in this community not named Alex Rogan! Today while surfing around the front pages of foxsports I ran across her slideshow of teams who play ooc cupcakes. While I'll be the first to admit LSU does play weak teams ooc, it's SEC schedule or any SEC teams in conference schedule isn't soft at all.

LSU will face 4 maybe 5 ranked opponents by seasons end as will many SEC teams. All the while the supposed kings of CFB the USC Trojans will have faced 1 maybe 3 (that's if Oregon and ND are ranked by that time) ranked opponents by seasons end.

Do I mean USC is not a very good team? Nope not at all what I am implying here. In fact they are a good team, however no matter how you spin it their in conference schedule should be a cake walk as it's full of creampuffs. So her favorite little saying as of late is "pot meet kettle" well Mrs. Horne I suggest you think about that for a minute because you are being hypocritical to say the least.

When a majority of SEC teams become like the majority of the Pac-10 teams, then maybe we'll see teams like LSU or Georgia play better ooc teams. I will say nobody was critisizing Michigan last season or calling Appalachian st. a cupcake when they won last season. Now that LSU has exposed them for the weak team they are it's a whole different story.

Here is the what she said about LSU on the slideshow, while it's all true she fails to mention the ranked opponents they played or put het own team within those she ranked as having a an appetite for destroying cupcakes.

LSU

"The Tigers' recipe for a national championship: Schedule the cupcake champ and get a TV deal with ESPN. Talk up Troy. Beat the stuffing out of North Texas. Start the "tough path" talk before you lose to an overrated SEC team. Barely stay with Tulane in the first half, then blow them away in the second. Play 75 percent of your games at home. Lose to another mediocre SEC team and repeat the "tough path" whine. Hoist crystal trophy."

The funny part though is that she has last season and this season mixed together like a pot of Gumbo. LSU never played Tulane this season and hasn't played 75% of the season as of yet. Then they'll play the tougher games on the road (see Auburn and Florida) not at home.

Let's take a closer look at USC remaining schedule to see how it compares.

USC reamaining sched.                              .

   @Oregon st.

    Oregon

    ASU

 @ WSU

 @Ariz.

   Wash.

   Cal.

 @Stan.

ND

@UCLA

Can anyone honestly say that these teams stack up to USC and are a real threat? Forget Stanford last season it was a fluke! Now LSU's remaining schedule.

@ Aub.

Miss. st.

@Fla.

@S.C.

Georgia

Tulane

Alabama

Troy

Miss.

@Ark.

Now can you honestly say this schedule is any easier than USC's?  Even Tulane is a team that gave both Alabama and ECU a tough game. They could probably beat a team or two within the Pac-10 that USC would roll over.

The point is this, USC 's remaining schedule favors them to go undefeated. While LSU or any other SEC team will more than likely lose 1 or 2 games. With maybe Florida being the only team I can see coming out unscathed. Do I think the SEC is superior to the Pac-10? No I'll not go that route. The fact reamains though that teams within the SEC will have more teams ranked at the end and also from top to bottom have more teams with less losses than the Pac-10 as a whole.

Yes we do love cupcakes as it seems, however it's almost as if we have no choice. Ask Florida fans what happens when you schedule tough teams early like they did when Miami was spanking their #### once upon a time. It hurts your chances of competing for a title because you still have to get through a tough SEC schedule.

So bow down everyone else to Queen Lisa and while your at it bow down to USC the kings of the CFB! To all those that oppose...of with their heads!

SEC game of the week... LSU @ Auburn!
Sep 15, 2008 | 9:08AM | report this

Now that LSU has finished playing it's warm up games, it's time to get serious when this Saturday they'll go head to head with Auburn. These two teams always go at it hard with the home team usually being the victor. However it might not be that way this season when looking at Auburn who has installed a new spread offense that they have yet to put all together. Facing what possibly is the best defensive line in the nation of the LSU Tigers, they'll need to be almost perfect.

The strength of this Auburn team is the same as it has been for years, their defense. Still I think they'll be out matched upfront by LSU's massive offensive line. They create huge holes for Jr. Tailback Charles Scott to run through. Scott isn't a speedster but has tremendous strength and great vision. Against both Appalachian st. and N.Texas he has shown the ability to bust long runs for huge gains.

Scott isn't the only RB that the Auburn Tigers need to worry about though. There are quite a few on this LSU team, namely Richard Murphy and Keiland Williams. Williams was projected to be the starter this season after losing Jacob Hester to graduation but Scott showed much improvement over the summer and has earned that position.

RB/WR Trindon Holliday is always a nightmare when he touches the ball. The fast little guy is hard to get arms on and has world-class speed. He's very valuable on the return team and if he gets by the first set of defenders...lookout!

The weakest points of this LSU team is inexperience at the QB position and it's young DB's. If Auburn can get pressure on Soph. QB Andrew Hatch or freshman Jarret Lee then that can spell doom for the Purple and Gold. Keep in mind though that Hatch can run and has done so a few times so far this season. In my opinion he might be better at running with the ball than Matt Flynn was.

The DB's are young but as I said the new offense that Auburn is trying to imploy hasn't quite caught on yet. It's a spread offense and after facing Appalachian st. and N.Texas LSU is ready and able to defend it quite well. Other than when Rich Rodriguez was at West Virginia my opinion is nobody runs a spread better than Appalachian st. of which the LSU Tigers found no problem with because of all around defensive speed.

This will by no means be an easy win but I do expect LSU to come out ahead. So far Auburn hasn't lived up to expectations as they were picked by the SEC coaches to win the West. Say what you want about LSU but they still seem to be the best team in the West with Alabama probably another year away from contending.

One thing to note is that Sr. LB Darry Beckwith will not play in this game due to injury he suffered Sat. against N. Texas. He controls the middle of the field and it will be interesting to see if Auburn can exploit that. Although I'm sure Miles will have whomever he plays there ready to do what is necessary to help the team win.

As always I apologize for posting in the NFL section. Until Fox fixes whatever the issue is with me not being able to post within the college football section, I'll have to continue posting there.

Just a few observations...
Sep 14, 2008 | 7:43AM | report this

These are just a few observations from yesterdays games:

First let's start with the biggest game of them all OSU vs USC. OSU is exactly what us fans from the SEC claimed they are....weak compared to the rest of the teams within certain conferences. The always hyped up offensive line is not what it's cracked up to be. Boeckman is a crappy QB and every time Pryor was under center he ran, that's just to predictable.

USC while a good team isn't the best team I've seen this season. An over hyped Buckeyes defense couldn't cover a marble with a blanket. Is it any wonder Sanche threw 4 TD's last night. USC is good but world beaters they are not.

Did anyone else hear hear the commentators for the game say if an SEC team thinks they are better than USC blah, blah, blah! Give it a rest you idiots!  The Gators are the best team out there as of right now and the media needs to stop jerking off USC! They are hating because since the BCS inception more NC have been won by SEC teams and old Kirk's team OSU lost twice to and SEC team.

Let's move on from this overhyped game and get onto other ones.

Tulane almost took down ECU! in fact it took a the BCS busters all the way until the end of the 4th quarter to beat them, Anyone want to call Tulane soft now? In fact last season they gave the eventual BCS NC LSU Tigers a good game, but the idiots from other conferences would try to use that as a reason why LSU isn't what the voters said they were. I'm willing to bet that they'd give the media darlings USC a better game than OSU did!

Next up is Michigan who had their #### handed to them by garbage ND! Wow TD Jesus is probably still doing the M.C. Hammer "You can't touch this" dance as of this posting! Give it a rest Domers you still suck and you beat a team who sucks as much as you do!

Georgia should not be the # team come Monday! How in the hell can you be the number 2 team and play crappy ball like that. Also all those media idiots who said that Matthew Stafford is an NFL ready QB should be chocking on those words as of this morning. Also while at time Knowshon looked good he isn't all that and a bag of chips either! I can't wait until they have to come to Baton Rouge and face LSU lol! If you couldn't handle a defense like S.C. how in the hell will you deal with a defensive line like LSU's? The answer is simple you won't!

Seen on the ticker that Nebraska and Miami (Fla) have set up a two year home and home series. Big props to both teams for that as both in a few seasons will be were they belong...back in the ranks of the big boys! Both Bo Pelini and Randy Shannon will have their respective programs playing good ball within the next few seasons.

Ok so Chase Daniel is a good QB isn't he? I'll hold to off on that observation until conference play comes around. Until he can do what he's been doing to OU he's just a good QB playing against inferior talent. Also the defense is what'll get them beat in conference play somewhere down the road. OU is still the best team in the Big-12 hands down.

OK now my Tigers played nobody lastnight, or atleast that's what it looked like. However how in the hell do you not throw a TD pass against a team like N. Texas????? I don't give a damn how inexperienced you are there is no way you shouldn't be in the redzone numerous times and come away kicking FG's or not scoring at all. Sure they won big but if you seen the game you'd know that if not for the running game it might have been closer. Speaking of which Charles Scott just might be the best RB in the SEC! Yep better than Knowshow, no that's not a typo because Georgia hasn't showed me #### and neither has he!

No LSU game this weekend...so now what?
Sep 05, 2008 | 2:56PM | report this

Well as I said in my previous post, I came home to a house that is still standing and furniture that isn't floating after my evacuation vacation. However there is one thing that is depressing to say the least and that is there is no LSU game after only 1 week of college football so far this year. Oh what is a Tiger fan to do with all this left over alcohol I've stocked up on? Sure I can focus on the other games that'll be played because it is true that football is played outside of Louisiana.

So I've come up with a plan and that is for every time Miami scores TD on Florida I'll be taking double shots of Grey Goose vodka. For every field goal I'll down 1 Corona (without the fruit, which can be a choking hazzard after getting to drunk to remember it's there) with a single shot of Grey Goose.

So considering the U has pretty much owned the Gators, I'm hoping for much the same this weekend. Because if that's not the case I'll probably have to save these adult beverages for Sunday when my Saints lay the smack down on division rival Tampa Bay here in the crescent city. Not that it's a bad thing but I'm not use to ( nor ever want to be) having no LSU Tiger football and an excuse to drink on Sat. during this time of year.

I completely understand why there's no game, but doesn't mean I like it and in fact despise it. I mean geez why don't these damn Hurricanes leave us poor Southern people alone and yes that includes you also Florida. Go bother some other meaningless country like say... Canada for a year or two.

All jokes aside the Florida and Miami game is the one I'm most interested in. I am an SEC supporter but wouldn't lose a second of sleep if the Gators get stormed on (pun intended) by the Hurricanes. Florida is a great team and someone needs to knock them down early, or they just might gain steam and God knows they'll be tough to stop then. Maybe Miami can expose some weakness within the defense that'll catch the eye of my Tigers for us to use come October.

I sure hope so because I'll be there in Gainsville with resident Gator supporters ReverendRhythm  and SRMGenius. It'll be plenty painful if my Tigers lose being around those two homers! Oh well I hear there's plenty of Oranges in Florida. Which is a good thing because I also hear it mixes well with Vodka!

Sorry for posting within the NFL section, seems Fox doesn't want to let me post in the college football section...again!

Back from my evacuation vacation
Sep 04, 2008 | 3:51PM | report this

Well after about a week of being on a evacuation vacation from Hurricane Gustav, it's great to come home and hopefully return to a normal life, whatever that may be. There's a few things pretty messed up around here but for the most part my home made out well. Which is wonderful because where I live (Westbank side of the Miss. river) was predicted to get hit hard from storm surge and also levee failure was a huge concern. The levee held and the surge never happened so thank God for that.

As for what will be happening with sports around our area, the Saints will play their first game in the Super Dome. Which is great and you can expect a very electric crowd come Sunday. I remember the re-opening of the Dome after Katrina and I have to say it was very loud. Since New Orleans and some of the surrounding area came out of this Hurricane with just power outages and some wind damage, this game will be a great time to celebrate (not that we ever need an excuse to get drunk and do that) what could have been worse than it was. So Geaux Saints,Geaux!

Baton Rouge didn't fare out as well as New Orleans and the game between LSU and Troy has been postponed until Nov. as both teams had open dates at the same time. Tiger Stadium was hit real hard and will need repairs of the field and scoreboard not to mention a few other things. LSU plans to have it ready by next weeks game against North Texas. So it's safe to say that Sat. will somewhat suck without an LSU game, but I understand why. Besides it'll give me a chance to checkout the other teams within the SEC this week. I'll probably be looking to pay special attention to the Florida and Miami game which should be a good one.

So once again let me say it's great to be home and I'm looking forward to relaxing my nerves and watching some good football games. Thanks to those who commented on Nique's blog wishing me and my fellow New Orleanians well. Also thanks to everyone who emailed me also, God Bless you wonderful people!

Enjoy your weekend and good luck to your teams.

Also to my friends here who might be from the East Coast Good luck with the Hurricane headed your way and God Bless you and your family...Stay safe!
