First let me apologize for posting this in the NFL section. For whatever reason it wouldn't post in the NBA section. Now on to what this post is about.
The Hornets are a team of now says coach Byron Scott. Which was evident when they traded their first round pick (27th overall) Darrell Authur to the Portland Trail Blazers for $3 million in cash.
Posey is one of the top free-agents this off season and is being looked at from a few teams including the Lakers and Pistons. Whether Hornets GM Jeff Bower can pull of this deal is uncertain. It will take a full mid-level exception worth 5.8 million for him to even consider coming to New Orleans.
It isn't until Wed. that free agents can begin signing contracts but Hornets GM and Posey's Agent Mark Bartelstein have been in constant talks. Bartalstein also represents Janero Pargo who the Hornets are trying to re-sign. Pargo has drawn interests from a few teams like New Jersey and Denver.
The Hornets also have expressed interest in Pistons free agent Jarvis Hayes. Whatever happens it's important that the Hornets find a legitimate #2 guard and Posey can be just that man. With Julian Wright showing signs of promise at the small forward position and Chris Paul now locked up for 3 more years, the Hornets will look to recapture the same type of success and move even further in the post season in '08-'09.
Posey doesn't seem like a starter to me. Taking out that he's unquestionably a dirty player who fouls a second time after every whistle, he's exactly the perfect kind of tough player the Hornets need.
Nique,
Posey has very good size 6'8 in height. He's almost lights out from the three point line and brings mental toughness. He's got post season experience and is a two time NBA champion. Yeah I'll be happy with that pick up if it can be done. It's an upgrade from what we have in Mo-Pete...Big Time!

Ah that mid level salary cap exemption that brings a sigh of relief to players around the league who'll become free agents but can't command the big bucks. Despite their tenureship within the NBA. Such are the ways of the NBA . Take the money and run Posey run , run like helL with it but only make sure that you're doing the right thing to begin with.
It doesn't su#ck to be Bill Russell and he's got one each for each finger , with a couple to spare I believe ?
And besides he's now got two rings that he can show off to the honey's and his homies . Life doesn't necessarily spoil you when you're an athlete but it cetainly does help if you're that way.
If I was a Hornets fan I would be very concerned about management and there refusal to commit any money to help the depth of the Hornets. The Hornets desperately could of us two players from this draft instead choosing cash Arthur, Chalmers or Douglas Roberts could have made an immidiate impact on that squad. Getting Posey would be a start if they dont get a couple solid players especially a backup point guard dont expect them to be able to out due the Spurs and Lakers, who will be better and deeper.
Yeah...MoPete was pretty useless. As a spectator, I CANNOT STAND watching the #2 guard miss WIDE OPEN SHOTS! And he was pretty slow on Defense as well. I really hope they don't lose Pargo, as he had a lot of heart, though he was streaky. Hornets need to be buyers right now...I was pretty excited to hear that they are putting the pieces together for a run at the ring next year...but that's all I've heard. I've heard of people they were thinking of getting...but no follow up. But I know they'll do something. I like the idea of Posey w/ D. West too...both are just a bit dirty, which is fine with me!
plutonium,
I like the idea of Posey as well. He plays in your face D which is something I like. Pargo will re-sign I'm pretty sure. Hornets will be just as good as last season if not better with the signing of a legit #2 guard.
The perfect breakfast as I see it.
