Music blogs...why the heck not?
May 26, 2008 | 9:45AM | report this

It has come to my attention that there are a few sniveling bloggers here. They either can't understand why a few bloggers and myself have music players on our blogs and then some others think we shouldn't.

I can't speak for anyone else who has music on there blog, however I can for myself. I Have music here because when I am writing I like to hear my music, it's as simple as that. One such person felt so compelled to write a blog asking why and complaining about it that he had to tag it three seperate times. Now that's just plain retarded in my opinion.

So one of the complainers commented on the blog that while they were on the phone with their other half, that the music came on and it was very loud. The call was a business call they said. Hmmmmm this seems like a very simple thing to fix. It's called a volume button and it goes up and down according to your preferences. Besides with all the other various sounds that come from surfing the web why would one have their speakers loud if it's such a problem?

Then another complained that music doesn't belong here and should solely be heard only on someones myspace page. Oh really, since when did anyone who is just a #### on around here start making the rules? If the site allowed me to put it, then I have every right to do so. It's my blog, so therefor it's my choice both whether I want music and what choice of music is played.

In fact when I first put the music player I got more compliments than anything. Come to think of it I haven't had one complaint as of yet, atleast not on my page. So to these people I say go complain to fox and have them do something about it. Until then you have a few choices.

1. Stay away from my blog and don't read it. I could care less if you do or don't. I hate to feel that way but you have brought that side of me out. Anyone who knows me here also knows I am one of the nicest people you'll find in this community, However I can be provoked just like anyone else.

2. You can follow my simple explanation as to how to solve these problems you have. Turn down your speakers or pause the music player. Doesn't seem like it's all that difficult but I guess for some people it may be.

Remember this is my blog so I can do as I feel I want to do as long as it's within the basic rules fox has set for each and everyone of us. I do not remember ever reading that I can't have music on it because a few bloggers may cry like little school girls. So until those rules are set get over it and get over yourself already.

I vote in favor of music on every blog page. These people remind me of my grandmother who sits in her room most the time or else she's at the Indian casino playing slots hour upon hour. All she does is complain about others when everyone doesn't do a damn thing to get in her way but she's always talking about someone behind their back. Her name incidentally is Lisa.

Nique,
I can't for the life of me find any validity in their complaint. As for your Grandmother, Yeah mine was like that as well. They get set in their ways which may be these peoples problem.

They say we are the juveniles. When in fact they are the ones crying like a bunch of spoiled teens.

I'm with you here gambitxxx!

I don't include it on every one of my posts, but I kinda like the idea that I can have the LSU fight song on a post about that school or have Ray Charles singing America the Beautiful on a Memorial Day post... Then the conversation started hitting on people that include pictures in their comments... Maybe we'll all be drummed off the Fox Sports blog site because of music and decent pictures???

By the way, I really like your music!

Hey..Gambit...I have my mute turned off! :) The time my incident happened, I didn't know that it would be automatically turned on when you click on the blog, that's all. I didn't expect to read a sports blog with music on. That's all. I'm not ticked or irritated at all. I was simply stating on a blog that it can be a nuisance if one is not prepared for it. Sometimes, after listening to a stream of music, you can forget to turn off the mute button when going back to blogs because you don't think of a sports blog having a music entertainment section.

It's your blog, you can do what you want with it. Please don't take some people voicing their opinions as "sniveling." It's an exchange of ideas! :)

Ah.....Well said Gambit.....There is a mute button, a volume control....one can also go off the offending blog. You also have music videos or other videos without muzak one has to click to see (or hear)....If I knew how to place the stuff on my once in a million posts I may choose to do so........we need to be real folks. Lisa has the best answer of all. Course I only read those that I really know who is writing and then only if it pigues my interest. Fuzzboss

I keep my volume set at zero. Simple solution. I don't like 99% of the music that people have on their blogs anyway, so this way I don't have to listen to it. Forensic2 would be the one blogger with original and eclectic musical selections.

Dwindy,
I knew you would understand what I was getting at. I feel we have that right to do so until fox says otherwise. thx and if you skim through my list I have a little something for everyone. I'll take request though since I have enough of what I like. You can simply click on any song in the playlist to play. You don't have to listen to what just automatically starts. thx again Dwindy.

Lisa,
First I am sorry for calling you sniveler. That's wrong of me to call people names. I am better than that. If it's my blog that blasted you then I am sorry but you should have known since you been on it a few times. I respect your opinion but some people just work my nerves. When attacked I come out fighting. I certainly felt attacked by Mr. Curly Mo.

Nique,
On my way in a sec.

Fuzz,
Thx and that's the whole point of it. If you don't like the song or just rather not hear my music the player has a pause button on it. One can also simply have their speakers not on full blast.

Hanahan,
That's what I am talking about. Now my blog has a player with lots of different songs. You can simply click a song if you don't like the one that's playing already. I have some rap, Lots of rock, blues and New Orleans style Jazz. I'll be adding some more if anyone wants to request anything that's fine by me.

I don't really care about the musicplayers one way or the other, but if other people want it, it's fine with me. And you're right; either turn the volume down, or change the station (leave the blog). Keep up the good work, friend!

Hey it's your page! I guess some people will #### about anything.
I tried adding my player from another site and it didn't work...........Maybe I need to tinker with it a little.

But there is one thing about my own player that bothers me. You have to keep adding new songs all the time, because they get tiring after awhile. Every time you open your own page you hear the same 6-7 songs that you thought were so cool two weeks ago........LOL! Much like that CD that's been playing in the car for a week or two

I don't have a problem with all these music players, and in fact I actually copied a tune from NiqueDodson' player.

That being said, I do have a problem with one blogger's audio feature. Have you ever opened up MikeGwizdala's blog and got blasted away by his blog talk radio show? His player caused me to stop opening his blogs about 6 months ago. However, Every few weeks or so, I will open a blog he has written just to see if he still has his player on.

This afternoon I noticed he had a new blog up. I never intended to open it but after reading this, I went back to it. He still had his player up but he had a half hour program of him discussing the virtues of Hillary Clinton. This I have a problem with.

As a few comments have eluded to, I will solve my problem about his player by simply continuing to not opening his blog.

bosox61, that one blog does get to me also. I've stopped going there as you have. To each his/her own I guess.

I dont have sound on my work computer anyway, so I never know what is playing on everyone's blogs unless I happend to notice the music player on the side...then I can use my imagination and my shower singing voice to sing along if I wish!

I'm a strange breed and don't like much outside of Texana/Americana. Some like it others don't. Not a big issue. I read somewhere that I fall in a group that's "up in arms" over it because I'm not excited about hearing unsolicited tunes. That was silly and a good laugh. It's simply a take it or leave it issue. I've got a mute button.

That's just it but some people fail to see it that way. What's funny is that Curly Mo hasn't come in to see my response to his blog complaining about the music. Only one who come and tried to further explain themselves is Lisa. Wish I can respect. Can't say the same for him.

MG,
I sure will. Be there in a minute. I hope you had a good one yourself.

ATHENS,
Try the same player I have. you need a code to place it.

Midnite,
thx for commenting and yes you do. There is always an option. One isn't changing my blog to please anyone but myself.

Kristen,
I saved you for last because you know your my favorite person here. Besides nobody else is quite as cute as you ma'chere. I'd love to be a fly on the wall to hear you singing in your shower voice.LMFAO! That would be just cool.
I'm feeling better each passing day. Can't hold a man like me down for long. I'll be back to normal real soon. will be looking forward to the Email. You are very welcome sweetie.

It's still nonsensical (snivel, snivel) and of course you got support from other people who have music on their blogs (snivel, snivel). That doesn't make it legitimate (snivel, snivel) and I certainly will offer no apologies or concessions because those of you who want to make SPORTS BLOGS out to be extensions of your MySpace pages (snivel, snivel) have taken offense to someone calling out the lunacy of it all (snivel, snivel). Lisa is being diplomatic whereas I personally have never cared who I might tick off when I speak the truth (snivel, snivel). There are just as many people who think it's idiotic (snivel, snivel), they just don't feel like getting into a pissing match with "Disco Bloggers" (snivel, snivel).

And Really, if Nique Dodson is your biggest supporter then you know you're on the minority side of the fence (snivel, snivel)

Sorry Nique, didn't mean to use the word 'minority' in the same sentence with your name.

God I love getting at Nique...(snivel, snivel). I wonder how this blog justifying the music is any less nonsensical about my blog complaining about them (snivel, snivel).

CurloMo,
Obviously you are just what I said you are. A whinning little school girl. Most of these people do not have music just a few. you had 3 people support you and it's not because they just do not want to get in a pissing match. It's because they see as well as everyone here that your complaint is rediculous. You can feel how you want and that's your right. However to try and drum up support for your ignorance was uncalled for.

You keep trying to speak for people around the community. When in fact all these comments speak more to the majority than your 2 people. 1 actually because Lisa doesn't really mind the music but stated what happened to her once. So you have one person. Maybe you and him can start a support group consisting of just you to giving all kinds of man love to each other.

Keep your beef with Nique between you to. You have a problem with me then we'll discuss that. Until then go sit in the corner with your 1 little supporter and cry to each other how nobody respects your opinion.

See the difference between our blogs about this (besides I have more support) is that I just finished what you started. I'm through and after this will no longer entertain you and your ignorance.

thx buddy I appreciate this. I had a problem with this #### the day I wrote the blog explaining my accident. He's the only person that commented with a LMFAO! The guy is an #### through and through.

Scroll down the list and you'll see some New Orleans style music as well. I'm going to do the whole thing over anyways. I'll be keeping a few though that I like. There is some rap, rock, blues and Jazz on here already. will be taking request. What's yours?

Such as what artist Rev.? playlist.com may not have the new Galactic stuff. It takes some time to get on the site. Give me an artist and a song and i'll add it. I have to add some in a few for others and delete some of what I have already. The player will hold up to 100 songs. Also whenever you come to my blog just scroll through and click the song you want to hear, it'll change from what's playing to that which you picked.

As for me I have various taste. Although my main choice of music preference is modern rock and Harder rock like Korn. Easy like Sunday morning has been added.

Good grief!

What a controversy! I am yet to receive a complaint about music in my posts. I am not a sports writer and I have no MySpace page. What FoXSports.com provides here is a platform for people like myself that has no journalism background a tool to kinda have fun. I try and pick songs that aren't offensive and that match the subject of my post. I love music of all genres and it helps me express my point. Many of the bloggers here are very talented writers and post great info. I lack that talent, so I use more pictures and music. I guess that makes me stupid and I should find a new forum to do what I do if it was up to Curly. I never meant to offend anyone. I just thought it was fun.

gambitxxx, I'm with ya buddy. You're doing great defending this subject. And I'm happy to see the majority here is cool with this and are participating in it as well.

Alicia Keys , Leona Lewis what's not to like ? It's a hell of lot better than th e drivel from the likes of both of the Simpson sisters and Britney Spears. There's no creativity there whatsoever and anyway I prefer a singer who actually knows not only how to sing but also write and play. Something of which you can't say about either of the pop triumvirate mentioned.
