To my friends here at foxsports blogsite.
May 04, 2008 | 12:28PM | report this

Hello to my friends here at foxsports blogs, did you miss me much? Well I know some of you may be wondering where the heck have I been, so I will fill you all in on what has been going on. A little over a month ago was the last blog entry i did. That very same weekend I went with some friends to a weekend long party at a campsite that included plenty of drinking and some other fun activities such as dirt bikes and four wheelers.

During said weekend of being toasted drunk and acting retarded on the four wheeler a friend and I decided to race and at about 45 mph we wrecked into each other and I suffered some serious injuries. The worst being a fractured skull and fluid and bleeding in my brain. So needless to say I was pretty messed up.

I have been in the hospital and was released today after careful monitoring to make sure i was ok to go home. I don't remember to much of what happened and have forgotten some other things as well. The doctors told me that most things will comeback to me but some others I may never remember again.

I am just thankful to be alive at this point no matter how much pain and suffering I have gone through and will continue to suffer from for the rest of my life. This near death experience has giving me a whole new perpective on life and just how precious every moment of it is. There are a whole bunch of things I have not accomplished as of yet but will make it a mission to do so.

I want to send a very special thank you to Kristen from here at fox blogsite. I have read and recieved your emails and truely appreciate your friendship. Also want to say thx to Mike Greenspire as well for his friendship and for being concerned as to my whereabouts. I have respected you both befor and now have a new found respect for you both.  I will always keep you and your families in my prayers.

To everyone else here that I consider good people and friends. I am looking forward to commenting and conversating with you again. I miss you all very much and also miss reading your opinions on anything and everything sports related.

If some of this makes no sense or my spelling and grammar are off a bit please accept my apologies as I am on plenty of meds. I will be around your blogs to comment because the last month is one big blur to me and I am way out of touch with what's going on in and around the sports world. Take care everyone and please do not take life for granted, it can end as easily as it began.

Oh my god! I was wondering what ahd happened, and was starting to get worried. I always thought you were a partier, just be careful! I guess that's what happens, growing up in the Big Easy, right? Just take it more Easy.

Take care, and congrats to the Hornets on making my round 2 picks 0-2 last night. Grrr. My Magic played dead in the 4th quarter. Don't worry, though, we'll be back!

Be careful, and I'm glad to hear everything's okay.

OMG Gambit!!!! I am so relieved to hear you are ok after what sounds to be a very scary injury. No need to thank me, I was just worried about you, obviously for good reason! ;)

Take good care of yourself, do what your docs say and let yourself recover. The brain has amazing powers. Please let me know if I can help in anyway!

You also , for what ever reason, bet me $1000 that the Arizona Diamond Backs would get off to a 0-10 start, again sorry man!! Now, with your current situation, ive decided to put you on a monthly payment plan cause im that kind of guy. You do remember you have a sence of humor wright?
Seriously, Get well soon and Welcome Back !!!!!

jgrace,
Thx for the well wishes glad to be back amongst good people as yourself.

Mike G.
Yes partying is a part of natural life around the "Big Easy." Thx for being a great person and a good friend. I'll try to take it as easy as possible. Can't say I am sorry the Hornets won. As a matter of fact the Docs said as soon as I came out of surgery and the anastsia wore off the first thing I asked was Did the Hornets win the Championship? Take care my friend.

Kristen,
You are an amazing person and have a beautiful soul that's very careing. I envy you for those reasons. It was a very scary situation to say the least. On top of the skull injury I have 3 broken ribs a broken arm, wrist and hip fracture with some very nasty scrapes and cuts to go along with it. What hurts the most is going to be my medical bill though Yikes!!!! I can certainly wait to see how that'll look. looking forward to seeing what is been going on in your neck of the woods(NASCAR) and how my boy J.J. is doing. I miss you ma'chere very much you are the greatest.thx for everything.

sls,
LMFAO! you just like to see me in pain don't you. Laughing really hurts my ribs you know, but it's good for the soul.

b@o,
LOL! hopefully I don't remember ever making a few bets like that. Seriously though thx and take care my friend. looking forward to reading and catching up with you.

Shane-

Glad to see you back, and in one piece. Dude, take it easy...you've had two close calls. We missed you here, and I had a feeling something was amiss, but hoped it was just a vacation. Welcome back, can't wait to see some of your artwork soon.

Hugs!

Lisa,
thx and glad to be back. I know I need to take it easy and feel fourtunate to still be breathing. This time was even more scary than the when I was a teen and hit by the car. I can't hardly sleep even with the meds because of the head pain. it's worse than a migrain headache. As for the artwork, well with a broken right arm I'll be out of commision as far as that goes for some time. It's hard enough trying to type with just one hand. thx for everything lise. I value your friendship very much, I honestly mean that.

gambitxxx,

I too was wondering what happened to my favorite LSU fan... Join the crowd on the life changing accidents... I fell over twenty feet just over a year ago crushing my right heel and fracturing my left tibia. I'll never walk normally again and it looks like after two surgeries there may be two more in the near future. It wasn't life threatening, but it was sure as hell life changing...

You're still a young man, I'm sure you'll get it back together and be good as new, with one slight difference. Now you know you're not bulletproof...

Take care my friend and the good Lord be with you!

Dwindy,
How are you my friend. Sorry to hear you may need to go through surgery over and over again. Yeah I am still fairly young and could possibly shake back from these injuries, atleast I hope so. You are right I am not invinciable at all. My first incident happened as a teen so I still felt like I could just do whatever I felt like doing with no consequences at all to pay. Now 19 yrs later I know better and value my life very much.

God be with you as well my friend thx for everything.

ed,
Merci Boocoup mon'ami. Even though drinking had something to do with what happened I think what happened would have happened either way. From what I understand (I was told because I can't remember anything at from that day) that the sloppy and muddy ground played a huge part to what happened as well.

West Seattle,
thx buddy and I got your messege today about the music on the blog. sorry I wasn't around to respond but I know you understand why now. thx and yes I like Breaking Benjamin and that song is very appropriate.

jon,
thx mon'ami I appreciate the well wishes.

Gambit - Wow man I had no idea. Best wishes for a quick and full recovery. My prayers are with you. It sounds like one of my group's deer hunting trips gone horribly wrong. You'll be enjoying the great outdoors again before ya know it. I left you a little 4 wheel humor here. I hope it cheers you up! Welcome back and Get Well Soon my friend!

Midnite,
thx my friend. It was a freak accident from what I've been told. Do not remember anything from that whole weekend and a few days befor. Short term memory has been obliterated for now the doctors say. I have to keep asking what happened to me because I forget and all I know is I am hurting and that something went wrong.

I read the post you put up. Very funny as much as it hurts to laugh with broken ribs it was worth reading. I can't wait to ride again, regardless of the accident it will not stop me from enjoying myself. I just need to invest in a new four-wheeler now. The engine is still good, but the frame is bent and fenders are in a hundred little pieces. thx again and looking forward to reading your post soon.

Gambit- Ouch indeed, you have a lot of injuries to heal from but you sound like your in good spirits. The good news is short term memory loss usually comes back after time, although you probably wont ever remember the wreck itself or shortly thereafter. Good thing your young! You will heal quick...

Kristen,
Yeah there are a lot of injuries to shake back from and you are right I am fairly young. As a matter of fact I spent my B-day in the hospital. April 7 was the worst B-day of my life. I just made 34 and had planned to spend it in the French Quarter getting wasted. I rented 2 rooms at a hotel with Balcony's facing Bourbon st. but that all fell through. Instead I was in a ICU room fighting for my life. Things happen for a reason I guess. As for the memories you are right that's exactly what my doctor told me. I am in good spirits as you say because I am happy to be alive to see those that I love. thx Kristen for everything. Sometime soon I hope to meet someone as beautiful and sweet as you to spend the rest of my life with.

I still am planning to come to San Fran and hook up with you and the Hubby. After I heal up that is. San Fran could use a lil Cajun ####e such as me. LOL! Take care sweetie.

P.S. How's my boy J.J. doing in Nascar at this point?

Kristen,
That sounds great. Happy to know I have friends I never met officialy that would be willing to go out of there way to welcome me.

That sucks for J.J. seems to be a rough first half a season for him so far. Just woke up from my coma that the meds put me in,so going to surf the net for a bit and try to catch up. This is killing me because I am not used to feeling useless. I'll email you in a bit to tell you more.

Nique,
Yes it was a very serious accident to say the least. My brain was full of fluid from swelling and blood. I have learned that drinking and driving is not a smart thing, although from what all my friends that were there said it seems as though the sloppy mud and rain played as much a part as being drunk did. Who knows but I am happy to be alive today and that's because my friends didn't panic and did what was necessary to get me the help I needed. thx for the well wishes and God bless you as well.

Holy Cow bananas!

And here I thought you were off having the time of your life with some lovelies. sorry I was wrong

I've been fighting my own battles, or I would have seen this sooner!

I'm sure you will heal in no time. Anything I can do from here, let me know.

Please make sure you keep careful track of the meds you are supposed to take and when.(I hope you have some help there) I am living with the nightmare that can happen when someone loses track

Fractured friggin' skull, dude? What the hell. Dude, I had no idea. How ya' feelin'? And more importantly, what the frick were you thinkin'?

You know what every red neck's last three words are, right? "Dude, watch this!" Way to perpetuate a racial stereotype, brother.

Anyway, sorry, I've been out of pocket as well. Since you probably have some reading and writing time on your hands now, check out my latest post on your boy, Chris Paul. Not only did I pay the man his due, I've set off Kobe fans (i.e., J-Dizzle) in the process.

Drop me an Foxmail message and let me know how you're doing.

YeeMum,
I washaving the time of my life until that happened. I see the Doc again on friday and he'll tell me how things are progressing. I appreciate the kind words and offer. I'm a very independent person and it's killing me to have to rely on friends and family. I do appreciate them though and know they do it because they care. Hope things get better for you and the battle you are waging. thx again.

Rev.
I am feeeling as good as can be expected my friend. I guess I wasn't thinking at all. I'm no #### but from what I understand us ####-#### are even crazier than them. I guess I found out pretty quickly it's true. going to read your post now. I am sure you sparked one heck of a debate with J-DIZZLE, he likes to argue. thx for everything mon'ami.

Lori,
Hey sweetie and thx for the well wishes, I truely appreciate it more than words can explain. I have missed all of you as well. Going to catch up on the Braves and my boy Chipper today. It's been a good morning so far without the major head pain. Which is a big relief.
I can't believe my boy J.J. is having such a horrible season...what's up with that?!!!!!!!
