This is the question, if there was just a few seconds left on the clock and you had one last shot at an NBA championship who would you want taking that shot Kobe or LeBron? Personaly I would want Kobe and here is my reason why. LeBron for all his greatness is not a good jump shooter. Now befor you Lebron lovers come in here and damn me to hell, yes I am aware that the stats say Lebron is more clutch this season. In my opinion stats are misleading and vary from season to season.
I am also aware that LeBron hit a clutch shot over Kobe to beat the Lakers this season. Like that has never happened to LeBron as well. Although I am sure all you LeBron lovers have selective memory and somehow do not remember it ever happening.
What I also know is what I see game in and game out and that is Kobe is just the best shooter in the NBA not named Ray Allen. He can hit it from down deep consistantly. The turn around fade away jumper is the best I seen since "Mike." He can drive past any defender in the game today. Heck put two or three on him and he'll still find a way to split them make the shot and get the foul.
He's also a much better free throw shooter and even better with the game on the line. So there is no question or doubt in my mind about who I would want taking that last shot to win it all. That person is the best player in the game as of today "Kobe Bryant."
LeBron is a great player who will only get better as time goes on. The young man has so much potential it's almost unreal. Some day he just "might" be he best who ever played. That remains to be seen, however Kobe is the best as of right now. Anyone who says different is either blinded by hatred or homerism and the two go hand and hand.
Here is what a few so called experts in sports from that four letter station have to say about who would they rather have right now on their team.

I am sure if you asked any other sports journalist and media guys/ladies and just overall sports junkies like me you would get the same answer from just about everyone of them. LeBron will have his day (although I don't think it will be in a Cav's uniform) and he will have everyone saying these same exact things about him. Until that time sit back and be witness to something great. Something we all as NBA fans should be enjoying.
Feel free to comment and voice your opinion but please keep it simple and do not disrespect anyone elses own opinion. There is no room for that here, if that is your intentions write you own blog and do it there.

I don't know who I'd chose . Suffice to say that they're both capable of changing a game at any juncture. They're both prodigous talents. But Kobe on the face of it is the proven winner having garnered three rings already. And though a fourth may well appear to be in the offing as the Lakers now seem to have a team capable of winning it all this season. LeBron on the other hand may still be one or two players away from that elusive ring.
But given the choice I'd say it'd have to be Bryant at this juncture. But in time LeBron'll get his.
See my two most recent posts and let me know what you think as to their marits ?
I'll look forward to reading your comments.

Death , Taxes Are Two Certainties In Life But When It Comes To The NBA's Western Conference Who Knows ?
Chimin' out.
Having Telfair taking mine right now I'd gladly take either or. But I will way this, last year's playoff game vs. Detroit LBJ scored the team's last 6,000 points (25 points, including all in both OTs.) That being said, I would also like (despite the fact that he hasn't played much this year) Gilbert Arenas. His three vs Utah then turning to celebrate before it went in was astounding. He hit many game winners last year and he is another guy I could trust in the wanning seconds o####ame. He can create for himself and if he is double teamed (like the Knicks tried to do last year 40 plus feet from the basket) he will find the open man to drain the shot a la Paxson or Kerr
Top,
thx for commenting. LeBron is a great player as I said and his time will come. It could be as soon as next season who knows. As for now it's still the Kobe show. I think I read one of those just never commented but I'll be right over.
Fade,
thx for the kind word and fr dropping in. I agree nobody has to tell me what I can see with my own eyes. Kobe is the best in the game at this moment in time.
bama,
Arenas is a great shooter no doubt. I still would take Kobe over him or any other player in the league. Lot's of players have hit big shots but when you look at it from a whole career stand point I think nobody other than Rober Horry has hit more big shots than Kobe.
And if "LeBron's time will come" then he is without a doubt going to go down in history as the GOAT. Seriously, have you watched him AT ALL in the past 3 years? "his time will come?" So he's going to get THAT MUCH BETTER? The rest of the NBA better hope he's just peaking early, because he's already putting up numbers that few have.
Tsunami, I respect your opinion and I have to say James is an animal when taking it to the rim. There is more to the game of B-ball than being a scorer and someone who can dunk it in your face.
James is hitting 70%+ of his shots within 5 feet of the basket and since last year he consistently goes to the rim when the Cavs need a bucket late.
And you're right, there is more to the game. Are you saying LeBron is not a good passer, rebounder, shot blocker, or defender? Not a good team leader? In what areas besides 3 point shooting and free throw shooting do you think LeBron lacks?
I've been watching B-ball since the 80's Tsunami. I have never said LeBron is garbage (although the team is) His time will come when he is a complete player. He's young and still has a lot to learn. Taking it to the hole and smashing it in someones grill may not be there forever. So what do great players do? they develope a jumpshot and other ways to score. LeBron will do that. sooner rather than later. Why you get so defensive about him? I don't understand that.
for me it depends. If the opposing team is a sub .500 East team living in awe of Lebron then I want Lebron taking the shot.
If the opponent is in the finals and has three all pro defenders draped all over Kobe and he falls away near the half court line and shoot blind over outstretched arms then it's Kobe.
RafterRat,
thx for commenting. As I said if the shot was for all the marbles as in this case an NBA championship. I would want Kobe taking that shot. Besides we all seen just how clutch LeBron is in the Finals.
Robert Horry didn't have to create his shots though. He stood still and got lucky when people decided to leave him alone (I'm sure it wasn't the coaches that said "Hey, don't worry about big shot bob, leave him and double someone") so he could make regular shots. LBJ and Kobe create and pull up. In LeBron's case, he'll take it to the rack too.
Another favorite (and I know we could do this all day) is Reggie Miller. Coming off 2 or 3 screens hitting a leaner with two guys in his face, thats clutch. Sorry to get off the LeBron Kobe topic, but he was clutch too.
Bamaboy,
Yeah but no matter how you spin it Horry was clutch! I agree Reggie was a dead eye shooter and could run around find a spot pull up and BAM! have you standing there with a stupid look on your face.
Today, I would take Kobe because he can do it from anywhere. If we're talking about the past, I'd have to go with Michael Jordan. More often than not, Jordan would drill those clutch shots, and he demanded to shoot it when it counted, much like Kobe does today.
Downs,
I agree as to both the past and present. However we are talking present. So as I said in the blog I would take Kobe. Stats aside about who is more clutch this season (as I said it vary's season to season) Kobe is just a more complete player in my mind and a better shooter than anyone in the league except Ray Allen.
The perfect breakfast as I see it.
