CP3 vs Deron Williams, need I say more? Lastnights game between the Hornets and Jazz was one Chris Paul really wanted and needed as Williams and the Jazz have owned them as of late. Closing in the first quarter the Hornets tough defense had forced 9 turnovers and went on a 23-4 run that had Jazz coach Jerry Sloan steamed and confused.
However the Jazz are nobody's whipping boy and would slowly crawl back into the game by the fourth quarter, that would see a huge lead cut to just four points. The Hornets who somehow lost some of the defensive intensity they had in the first quarter, found it again in the closing minutes.
With the Jazz closing in on the Hornets, Williams about to drive the lane has the ball stolen by CP3 and that seemed to put the preverbial "nail in the coffin." Paul would finish this game with 24 pts,16 asst and 5 steals.
So the debate rages on with NBA fans on just who is the better young PG. I'll leave that for you to form your own opinion. As for me I have a lot of respect for Mr. Williams, he's tough and can shoot the rock as good as any in the league. Although while you are pondering which of the two is better consider this. Paul has the opportunity to be the first player in history to avg. 20 pts, 10 assists and three steal for an entire season. Now chew on that for a bit, and get back to me.
I have to agree, they are the future but I am going to go with CP3. The kid is relentless and has the ability to force his will on a team. Williams is special as well, but Paul seems like he is playing in the 80's with his command of the game. Having said that, I would love to have either one on my team.
ram,
Thx for stopping in and I agree Paul is a special player. He's on a whole different level than most PG's. Williams great young player and fits what the Jazz are looking for in a PG and leader. I to would be happy with either.
CP3 IS the future at PG. He is SWEET. New Orleans is for real and I think they'll get to the Western Conference finals. He has an uncanny ability to clutch up in big games like last night's game. As ramogriff stated, he is relentless. He also has mad intangibles that you like in a PG.
Jon,
I agree he is sweeeeet! Yep they are a for real team no doubt. I'm not to sure about the finals though,we will have to wait and see. There is this real good article in ESPN the mag. It's also on the website. It's about him and Jordan but mostly about him having that kind of winning attitude and drive.
nba worst,
I always root for the Lakers first. I was a laker fan long befor the Hornets where ever considerd to be an expansion team. We talking 80's my friend. Although if the Hornets win I will be happy also.
Mean,
Yeah he is still down this year 2-1 and 7-2 all-time to Williams and the Jazz. I agree he showed plenty of maturity lastnight. I will be there that's a promise.
CP3 is definitely an amazing point guard but I'd pick D Will over him. Not only has Williams owned CP3 on more than one occasion, he is a more unique kind of point guard. How many times do you find a PG with his size and build? He has a stronger, larger frame and can still move like a ballerina. I think Paul got bigger numbers faster but I have a feeling Williams could win in the long run.
Williams season stats:
PPG 19.1
RPG 3.0
APG 10.1
SPG 1.1
BPG 0.3
FG% 0.512
FT% 0.794
3P% 0.399
Paul season stats:
PPG 20.9
RPG 4.0
APG 10.9
SPG 2.7
BPG 0.0
FG% 0.485
FT% 0.876
3P% 0.365
Most people pick Paul but I always wonder if they realize Deron is only 1.8 points behind Paul in scoring, less than a point behind in assists and has a better FG% and 3P% than Paul.
That's just what happens when hardly anyone gets to see Jazz players play.
Hmmm...

Crazy,
Even less people get to see Paul and the Hornets play. A stupid deal to allow only a local sports cable network to show all but maybe 4-5 games a season has hurt them in some way.
I would be happy with either. Both these young men have very bright futures ahead of them. I understand Williams is close in points a game and is a better three point shooter. Yes he's bigger but CP3 for his small frame gets a rebound more a game than Williams. CP3 has an opportunity to do what nobody has done befor as well and that's finish the season avg. 20 pts a game 10 asst. and 2 steals. That's pretty remarkable if you ask me. Thx for stopping in, better late than never right? lol!
True Hornets are in the same boat but I think all the hype about Paul causes more people to check on him and watch him when they can. Seems like a lot of people haven't even heard of D Will.
Hopefully most people realize that either one is amazing. Yes, CP gets a rebound more than Deron but I kind of feel that Paul has to carry his team more than Williams which is totally impressive. I think the fact that he probably in reality has the deeper team has an affect on Williams' stats though. The Hornets have a stronger record but Paul is always carrying them to that win, because he has to. The Jazz aren't far behind but a different player is always on top, Williams usually second or third in scoring behind Booze or Okur (ex:Last night, Okur-25, Williams-25, Boozer-23 and Booze had a 10 min first half). Williams knows there are people to rebound; Boozer, Okur, and Millsap are known for their rebounding and are almost always there for it so Williams usually lets them take it. Boozer, Okur, AK, Harpring, and Korver all want that ball for a shot and are usually on so D Will won't keep it. But there are other ways a bigger frame is great for a point guard. It can help on a drive and it makes it easier to finish when fouled.
This isn't really relevant but last night against the Suns, D Will drove in on Shaq and completely took him out! It was one of the funniest things I've seen in a while.

Anyway, I totally agree that Paul deserves to be praised for a great season, that is a great feat. I really do like Paul a ton but D Will is my pick for the long run.
haha yep just looking on the jazz page and noticed this blog. Jazz aren't seen a ton there either:D
But I love this rivalry and look forward to its future. Both are ridiculously amazing for their age and are still great friends despite the rivalry.
Crazy,
I agree with all your points as you stated above. I've always been a fan of the Jazz (they were once a N.O. team) and Jerry Sloan. D. Williams is a great P.G. and as of now has the upper hand in head to head meetings. You are right Paul carries this team along with David west. The friendly rivalry will be great to watch for years to come. Both in my opinion aren't just the best young PG's but the two best period as of this time. thx for dropping in again. Goodluck to your Jazz down the stretch.
The perfect breakfast as I see it.
