Slicing up the competition...
Nov 20, 2007 | 12:39PM | report this
Most people have never heard of the man born Kevin Ferguson. A hulking figure at 6'2, 240 lbs he is better known by the name Kimbo Slice. He was born in the Bahamas and raised in the streets of Dade County Fla. where he learned to fight just to live a descent life. Kimbo was found by some guys who run an adult website named "Reality Kings." If your not an adult I would not suggest visiting this site.

Kimbo became famous through you tube, an internet site that allows members to upload home videos. Kimbo has had his videos watched more than 10 million times. I've seen these videos a few years ago and now that Slice has turned pro in the sport of MMA from what I seen he will be a man to be reckon with.

His street fights were nothing short of brutal and damaging. Only once has Kimbo been defeated and that was by a Boston Police officer named Sean Gannon. The fight lasted 10 minutes and Slice was to fatigued to continue. That's a fight Kimbo says he would love to do over again. For now though Kimbo must be on his best behavior. No drugs, drinking and definitely no street fighting.

Slice's MMA debut came on June 23 when he took on Boxings Ray Mercer, the former WBO champion. Slice punished Mercer in the fight, and made the former champ tap out at a minute and 10 into the first round with what's called a guillotine choke hold. It's safe to say this guy means bussiness.

Kimbo has been training with a legend and former champion of UFC Bas Rutten a 13 year vet of the sport of MMA. Both Bas and Kimbo say he takes this serious and it's not some gimmick to attract more audience and money, although I find that hard to believe. What ever the reason is it doesn't matter because if you love MMA then you will love Kimbo Slice.

I've seen plenty of fights in my life, both professional and on the streets and never have I seen anything like this guy. From the minute the fight begins he will walk you down, steadily moving forward fearlessly at his opponent until he has him set up for punishment. Their are some great fighters in MMA and in my opinion Kimbo will slice up most of his competition.

Here are some videos of his fights both in MMA and on the streets. I word of warning though please be advised that the fights are violent and if you don't like it then well, I warned you.

As bad as Mercer got beaten I'd still to know why it is that these boxers and former NFL players think that they can make the leap into the realms of MMA ? The majority of the time they'll get their as$es handed to 'em on a silver platter.
See my latest post written under this guise and let me know what you think as to the merits of the piece ? It's titled Yes It Was A Tragedy ....But All 'bama Did Was Lose A Game !
