When the BCS standings came out today, it had the LSU Tigers and Oregon occupying the top two places in those standings. In the pre-season all the hype was on an USC and LSU matchup. There was alot of smack talk all over the internet between both sides homers. Things started looking real real bad when both LSU and USC lost a game. But now LSU has clawed it's way back to #1 and only two very winable games and the SEC championship game left in front of them.
This tiger is truely an animal on the defensive front.
Oregon just like LSU has two tough games, but should win out to help make the SEC vs Pac-10 game everyone who is an SEC homer like me wanted. Yeah I know it may not be the two teams we thought, or should I say hoped it would be. Nonetheless it is two very good teams and I would hope LSU would not take Oregon lightly.
This ones for the Duck fans.
Oregon is a very good team and won some realy tough games to get the respect that they deserve. Let's just pray that both teams win out and win Big. I know alot of other people will say "well what about an undefeated Kansas?" While I feel your pain, I just coudn't see any team playing you and still be able to get any respect for beating a B-ball school. We all know that's what the talk will be at the end if Kansas would play for a NC Title and lose. Everyone will say they didn't belong there or they wasn't ready for the "BIGTIME"! So I would much prefer an LSU and Oregon matchup, a game that would be sure to bring much hype with it.
VS
Hopeing for a "Big Easy" trip for both teams to the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.
If there is one thing that I learned this year though it's that anything can happen. I never thought I would ever see a season like this one in College Football. This is LSU second chance to prove it wants to earn the right to be called " Champions." Not many teams get that chance so this time around they must take it more seriously. What a wonderful season so far in College Football and it's not over yet. This year will live on with great memories and some not so great ones either for the rest of my life. so in closing I will leave you with some pic's of some LSU hotties.
Gambit, this is a great ride isn't it. If Kansas wins out and doesn't make it they have a right to be upset but, just about every year someone feels slighted. As everyone knows, Oregon was passed over in 2001 for a Nebraska team that lost their conference championship. The Homer in me says its our turn. LSU and Oregon sounds like a great game to me. Good luck the rest of the way.
Now if both sides just bring this thing to a conclusion and let the waters clear up... I don't want to hear that somebody oughta be in the NC game that isn't. I have to believe that Kansas is going down. I doubt they'll even make it to the Big 12 championship game. Heck the Mizzou game is supposed to be a home game for KU and yet it's being played at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. I call that a bad move. See ya Kansas!
If strength of schedule means anything, then the right two teams are set to play for the NC and Kansas isn't anywhere near these two much more deserving teams.
Well I think there are 3 great teams: LSU, Oregon, & Oklahoma. It will turn out to be another 2003 season. 1 of the 3 will be left out in the end, unless of course one of them were to lose.
I think Oklahoma losing to an unranked team keeps them at #3 no matter what, since both LSU and Oregon lost, but they lost to ranked opponents.
We still got alot of football to play so hold you collective breaths!
alot of football left for sure but oregon needs to concentrate on the rest of their season along with LSU and the rest of the bunch then we will settle this on the field. Unfortunatly i still think the sec pac 10 #### will not be settled because we will play the sooners in the title game... better luck next year pac 10
LSUtigers, Oregon should be fine even though they have a tough game or two left. If they take it one game at a time and do what has gotten them this far then they'll be ok.
LSU on the other hand still has some tough games as well. They are the ones who realy need to buckle down and stop making mistakes turning the ball over so much.
finally the two top teams are where they should be.. lets not forget the only oregon loss was by one foot.. if that... all it takes is a fumble out of bounds and not into the endzone and the ducks are number one.. damn.. NC will be unreal with these two teams.. great defense by lsu.. and an explosive ducks offense!! my boys in coos bay are lovin life at this point!!
oh and its about time those losers from ohio state are not # 1 anymore.. bunch of posers.. play some real teams.. just like kansas and there padded schedule..
Funny how most people have decided the season is over. The way this year is going, I wouldn't bet that both of these schools get the chance to play for the title. (maybe not either of them)
degraff, thx for the comment and yes it has been a crazy season. LSU has a chance not many teams have ever had. That's two shots at being in the NC game. First they need to win out.
Dwindy, just like degraff said someone always gets ####. It's just the way it is. Until the NCAA adopts something better, teams and their fans will feel ####.
LSUfan, Please if we get in the NC game, I don't want to see OU again. That's another serious #### whipping for OU in New Orleans.
Mason King, thx for commenting. I agree these are the two top teams but will both teams stay there is what worries me.
pumpdude, where do you see I said the seaon was over? All I said was this is the game I want to see for the NC game. I'm an SEC guy and an LSU fan so naturely I want to see them play. I also happen to think Oregon is the next best team, if not better.
i am a huge Oregon fan but let me just say one thing u guys need to stop talking about how we were robbed of the title in 01 even if we got there we would of had to play Miami and they would of kicked the #### out of us the 2001 Miami Hurricanes are the greatest college football team of all time.
But this is 2007 Oregon and LSU are the best teams this year plus Oregon has the best offense and LSU has the best defense i dont care about stats Oregon's offense is the best.
GO DUCKS 2007 National Champions
Well, I like both Oregon and LSU, and I hope it doesn't come down to those two, because I'
d liek to have someone to booooooooooo in the big game. Like Ohio State or Michigan.
Catch ya later, Gambit! Come read my new weeklong series about where McNabb could be headed this off-season! Up at my blog now!
nice post, and I will say this. If both teams win out and wn out in a big way and they end up in the BC then this will be one hell o####ame. Oregon offense is dangerous and they run the spread with a running QB and LSU does not do well agaisnt that type of offense. So I say ths if Oregon does win out then I must say that they are the favorite to win it based on their offensive power.
Mike I hope it does comedown to those two but hey I'm biased.
bayou, how yoou doing mon' ami? I agree it would be the best game of any of the top teams.
Rev, good to see you my friend. I tried to find some Oregon cheerleaders but came up with nothing worth posting so I just went ahead and put up the LSU ladies.
Personally, I think the best 2 teams are currently ranked #1 and #2. It is not anyone's fault but Kansas' that no one really knows how good they really are. For the sake o####ood game, I hope #1 and #2 doesn't change. I think Oklahoma gets creamed by LSU. Mizzou and LSU is kind of interesting to me. The Tigers vs. the Tigers!!
I know that the Sooners stumbled at a bad Cal team, but since then (other than the stumble at Iowa State) have looked pretty impressive in beating some top ranked teams in Texas and Missouri. They should not have any problems with Baylor and Tech, which leads to a probable matchup with an unbeaten Jayhawk team. I think the overall body of work would be better for the Sooners than the Ducks if they were to win the Big 12 Championship.
Both teams deserve to be were they are at in the polls, although I feel that Oregon should be #1 given the time of when LSU lost to Kentucky who has now fallen off the earth. There are a few speed bumps in this picture for both teams, Kansas; what if they run the table and go undefeated? I think that they belong in the BCS title game more than a won loss team depending if they can beat Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship. Who is the other speed bump; granted they lost to an unranked team but if they beat up an undefeated Kansas I think that might jump them into the title game.
This is a good reason that along with the BCS college football should have a playoff system to determine a National Champion so no one gets left out because of schedule strength or quality wins; an undefeated season is still undefeated. You still had to go play the games otherwise we would have never seen Appalachian St beat the powerhouse Michigan this year which was prolly the greatest upset in sports history. Great pics by the way; wish we had some like that in Iowa!!!
You know like I do that if Oklahoma wins out and then beats Kansas or Missouri handly, which is very likely, they will be in the show. So all this Oregon talk is so premature, because unless Dixon wins the Heismann or OU loses it will be OU vs LSU in New Orleans again.
Good luck to LSU/Oregon and their fans. That would be one heckuva game. Maybe someone could actually hold on to those top 2 spots. They have been very slippery this year.

I'd take nothing for granted at this stage of the season. As it's still far from over. And the way that this season has unfolded nothing now seems to be out of the question.
Hi guys, I'm an SEC homer, but I can't let that cloud my judgement. I like LSU in the NCG and I don't think Ole Miss should be a prob, but they SEC CG will be for sure. I've been impressed with GA since the get go. That team is for real and Richt has a chip on his shoulder.
The battle b/t OU, KU, and MU is the one I can't wait to see unfold. I think KU deserves more props, but we'll find out soon. These teams are all for real.
Oregon is definately for real, but the thing bugging me with them is their reliance on Dennis Dixon. With this new knee situation and their remaining schedule, how reliable is he? Can he make it through the remaining games and, assuming they make it to the NCG, make it through that too? LSU's D, with Dorsey, has sent qb's away on stretchers this season and they're gonna be after Dennis Dixon like an Ethernopian after a sammich.
The reason I ask is that I'm in the south and our coverage of pac 10 games is limited in comparison. I just haven't seen enough to know for myself. Honestly, rivalry aside, can Dixon make it through?

tophatal, Yeah anything is bound to happen, I just don't see LSU losing from here on out. Which is what will need to happen for the #1 spot they hold to be relinquished.
Archloaff, Thx for stopping in and commenting. GA is a tough team as is just about any in the SEC, I just think they are riding on emotions after beating Fla. All will come crashing back to reality when and if they face LSU.
as for Dennis Dixon that remains to be seen. Good call about how LSU has put quite a few QB's out of the game already. Glen Dorsey is a monster to contain. If Oregon or any other team makes it, their QB better be ready to be smacked in the mouth really hard quite a few times in the game.
I'm feeling you, but GA beat FL, Alabama, and Auburn each quite handily while LSU barely squeaked by. I hope I'm wrong, but I think LSU's gonna have their hands full.
I have a feeling you'll see a much more focused team. Not many get the chance they have gotton so far this year. They know now it's crunch time. time to dig deep inside yourself and let the animal you really are free.
I played Highschool Ball with Kordell Stewert. Our head coach told us that once befor a game for the district championship. It was a scarey sight when he said it.

I'll never say never in such cases. But as far as I'm concerned based on the evidence so far I do believe that LSU ought to be playing for a national championship. They've acquitted themselves well thus far this season and have rebounded from their travails when it mattered most.
tophatal, I agree a true champion finds a way to win when his back is against the wall. That's what LSU has done so far this year. This Tiger team is as good and similar to the 2003 team that won the BCS NC game. Hey what you think about the Louisiana Hotties?????
gambitxxx
Let's just say the Louisiana Hotties are a delicacy that I could see myself lappin' up like a dog on heat. I must say that since I've been residing here in the Us (15 years) the girls here are equally as impressive as back in Europe. The problem though that some of 'em here can be prudish and not always open to trying new things if you get my drift ?
The perfect breakfast as I see it.
