I know this has nothing to do with sports whatsoever but I just felt like posting something about New Orleans and Mardi Gras. After Hurricane Katrina Devastated New Orleans some people were in doubt about Mardi Gras being what it once was. I would say it was a success and had just as much fun as I ever had in my life last year. Now two years removed from the storm, this years Fat Tuesday celebration should be a huge one. It's only 3 months till the big party kicks off and I am excited already. There is nothing like it in this world. Sure some would argue that in Brazil they have Carnival and it is huge, I'm sure it's also a blast. The thing is none is more famous world wide than Mardi Gras in New Orleans.
As a native of this wonderful city, I have seen enough Mardi Gras to clog my brains memory bank, not to mention all the alcahol I have drank during these party's to kill much of the memories. I have never in my life been more anxious for The two week celebration. T me the best part of Mardi Gras is meeting people from all over the world and seeing them have such a wonderful time in the City I love. It makes fills me with a sense of pride that is only known when LSU and the Saints are doing well.
Some of the costumes are absolutly Beautiful and you'll also see the biggest and best looking parade floats anywhere. Nobody I have ever met has come away with bad memories of the famed celebration. I know there are people who get to drunk and get into fights and land their butts in Parish jail but that's not anyones fault but their own.
It has become very commercialized over the years but for New Orleanians it still holds a traditional religous meaning. The word Mardi Gras translated from french means "Fat tuesday." The season officially starts in Jan., which is called feast of the Epiphany. It's also known as Kings day or "Twelfth Night" which is to celebrate the arrival of the three Kings to the birthplace of Jesus. Mardi Gras day is the day befor ash Wednesday.
If you have never had the opportunity to see Mardi Gras, I suggest you make it a must see atleast once in your life. If you have then I would like to say thanks for supporting our city. You couldn't imagine how huge an impact it is on the cities economy. For those of you who read this and if you have been to Mardi Gras once or twice befor, please tell me a lil about your experience with it. For me the best part is getting drunk with a bunch of people I don't even know. People from other States or Countries are the coolest. So until next time mon' ami, enjoy the video of Mardi Gras.
Note: If you are easily offended I suggest not watching the video.
New Orleans is on my list of 'must see' places.(perhaps one day..............)
I would like to see it with and with out the 'party' atmosphere.
One of my favourite musicians is from 'round those parts as well so if I ever get the chance I have a full list of 'must do's'.
YeeMum, thx for commenting. New Orleans is a Beautiful City with many exciting things to do. Please do visit us someday. The City thrives on tourism not by the money I put into it. Now who might that singer be???? As for haveing one for you, I sure will.
The perfect breakfast as I see it.
You’re sitting at the table and your son is on the cover of Wheaties, your mistress is on the cover of Playboy, and your wife is on the back of the milk carton.
