USF probably better off at #2
Oct 14, 2007 | 8:09AM | report this

Now I know what alot of people will be thinking Ohio St. should be #1 after LSU'S stunning loss to Kentucky. I say hold up a minute what about USF. This team is just as OSU undefeated. The thing that seperates them though is USF beat quality opponents. The BCS and all their infinate wisdom (my attempt at sarcasm) will not even see that.

With Cal losing to Oregon St. this will move USF to #2 but it's not a fair treatment whatsoever.  I'm not so sure USF would want that ranking seeing as to how the mighty fall each week. OSU on the other hand will probably welcome it as they are still punch drunk from last years thrashing by Florida in the BCS game. It's their way of getting over it so let them have it.

Honestly I believe if it comes down to these two teams playing for the BCS title USF would beat them into retirement. They have a very good offense, one that might be better than the UF had last year. Wouldn't shock me after watching this years season and how it has unfolded so far.

Thing is there are still some one loss teams that can grab a place in the big dance of college football. LSU,Kentucky,S. Car.,USC,Cal and OU all have a legitimate chance of being there. More than likely one of these teams will be. whoever wins the SEC title they have an argument to be there. If OU wins the Big 12 so do they. If Cal or USC win the Pac 10 they also will no doubt be campaigning for a spot.

So go ahead OSU gloat and enjoy it while it last. USF continue to sit back and win like you have been. All the one loss teams hold your heads up because on any giveing Saturday you can be right back in the thick of things. This season has been nothing less than pure maddness.

i don't think Ohio State is the best team in the country and that's by a long shot... oh well, you can only beat the teams you are scheduled against, even if they are substantially weaker competition... as it stands, USF probably deserves to be number 1 because they've beaten more quality opponents.

I agree with ya. USF is a great team. I would rather fly under the #1 position though...lol

BGL Once again congrats to your Kentucky team and yes I agree #1 seems to be a bad position to be in this year.

when the gators beat the now #7 wildcats, and the now #5 game #### s they will also beat a top ten sec west champ. UF deserves another shot.

thing is two losses hurt you. So I doubt they make it to the NC game.

Glad to see you are giving USF its props. #2 may be a better position for them, especially considering they are a program that has never experienced being ranked and being a top dog. Hopefully, that pressure won't cause them to cave.

this i have to completely agree after a 50+ point routing of UCF which was suppose to be a major rivalry to usf they more then deserve thier position ... osu i'm not sure how stong they are but if they win out all thier remaining game and if usf continues their dominance and wins the big east usf and ohio state will be a decent game but if ....lol ... ohio state loses 1 game then it should be LSU and USF for the national championshop wooooooooooooooooooh that will be a game (hopefully)

FloridaFlavor I give credit where it is due. USF is good... real good. Also you are right if they had been placed at the #1 spot they may have not handled it well. Besides the 1 spot seems like a bad place to be this season.

You are correct if both USF and OSU win out no doubt they should be playing for the NC. But if one team loses or both and LSU wins the SEC championship game then look for them and possibly a 1 loss big 12 or pac-10 team to be there. More than likely the whole 2003 mess again between LSU, OU and USC. Damn! Not again that would suck.

As the new kid on the block (and a VERY new kid) don't expect the BCS or anyone else to give much credit to USF. Consistency more than anything else will give USF the edge if they can continue to win. But be a flash in the pan and they will vanish. May not be fair but having been there back in the 80's with FSU, you have to get used to it.

One loss and USF will be a distant memory SuperSeminole
