This Saturdays game between the visiting Tigers of LSU and the Kentucky Wildcats should be as good as promised. Last week Fla. exposed a weakness in LSU's defense so look for the Wildcats to watch much game film and see what they can do to try and use that to their advantage. Kentucky has a few chinks in their armor also on the defensive side. S. Carolina pretty much did whatever they wanted to and it worked for them. Kentucky's offense is very eficient though. QB A. Woodson post a rating of 154.31 and leads the SEC in passing yds with 1,536 and is also the highest scoring team in the SEC avg. 42.7 points a game. That is the strength of Kentucky's offense they can throw the ball and do it well. LSU's defense is top in the nation even though it took a big hit from Fla. mainly QB Tim Tebow. Led by defensive end Glen Dorsey who is a nightmare for any offensive lineman to have to handle, he's very fast and strong. Kentucky will have to find a way to keep him in check. In the secondary LSU is led by S. Craig Steltz. He leads the SEC in interceptions with 4. He's also a bruising hitter who can pop the ball loose from a reciever who doesn't see the hit coming. Reversing angles now, on the defensive side for Kentucky it can be a long day if the D-line can't stop LSU's rushing attack. They have a multitude of talented backs led by Jacob Hester. He's not only strong and fast but has the heart of a champion. Last week against Fla. Hester became the first back to post a 100 yd game against the Gator defense. Then there's the little pocket rocket Trindon Holliday. This kids speed is unreal, and if he gets any open space look out there is no catching up to him. Also Kentucky will have to find a way to stop QB Ryan Periloux who will come in the game a number of times and run the ball effectivly. LSU has no one player on offense who really stands out like Kentucky does, what they do have is a team that gets it done together. That's what the game is all about... teamwork. I look for Kentucky to give LSU some fits and score a couple touchdowns but ultimately the Tigers are just to big and powerful and more hungry than the lil widcats. Should be another great weekend in college football and I can't wait.
This goes out to the media and all USC Homers who thought they were going to run the table from here on out. Stanford is due credit for playing ball till the final whistle. They didn't come into this game thinking they couldn't win because everyone including the media said they couldn't. This team deserved to win because they played with heart and believed and trusted in a backup QB who ultimatly got the job done. I would be a liar to say that I believed in them but what matters is they believed in themselves in spite of me or the rest of the country's belief. Now all I read everywhere from USC fans is that Booty is garbage. What about him being garbage when things looked so good for the mighty trojans. What a joke some fans can be. Let's face it he's the best QB you have and just didn't get the job done. If Pete Carroll changes QB's and USC goes on to lose two more games those same people who are now saying Booty is no good will be the same ones wondering why he isn't still starting. Talk about some fair weather fans. I have a question now for coach Pete Carroll. Does this make you a normal team now that you lost? Lets face it, you was normal befor the season started and this game just proved it. Saying stupid things like that always come back to bite you in the ####. But do not worry to much Trojans all you have to do is beat Cal. and I'm sure the media will be looking to put you back were you think you belong. Though I doubt very seriously you can beat Cal. or Oregon for that matter. Go ahead and fight on Trojans, from here on out you'll be fighting for your pride. Oh how the mighty have fallen!
Well folks another saturday is here and that can only mean one thing. Time for some good ol' college football. Tonight we have a dog fight on our hands( in no way, shape or form do I condone animal cruelty) with the Florida Gators VS the LSU Tigers. This should be a showdown of two teams who will probably see each other again this season in the SEC championship game. This just may be the best game all season with the exception of USC VS CAL but that depends on who you ask. This is a statement game for LSU. This is the time for them to show the rest of the college football world they belong on top and worthy to be named with USC as the top teams in the Nation. For Florida this is a must win after a disappointing loss to Auburn last week. A loss for the Gators and you can count them out as a NC team. LSU might be without wideout Early Doucet. Still suffering from a groin injury. Good news for Florida is that Tony Joiner will be with the team but it is uncertain as to whether he will be suspended for a quarter or so. All charges have been dropped on Joiner. there's a 60% chance of rain for the game time. Which means both teams will need to work hard on running the ball and keeping the turnovers to a minimum. This is the stiffest competition LSU will face this season. Fla. is the defending National Champs and there's alot of pride in Gator country. Look for the Tigers to blitz alot and clogg up the middle giving QB Tim Tebow no room to run. Fla. will probably try and get the ball to percy harvin as much as possible as he is a playmaker. As for LSU on offense they have so many weapons comeing out the backfield in Craig Steltz, Brandon Lafell, and Trindon Holliday that they always have fresh legs and it's hard to be prepared for 3 big time runners. Also who could be the X-factor for the tigers offense is QB Ryan Perilloux. He's a tremendous running QB but also has one of the strongest arms in college football. Look for him to get some time especially if Matt Flynn is struggling and still botherd by a sprained ankle. Well my College football buddies cheers to a great day of football and goodluck to everyones team. Geaux Tigers!!!
Players to Watch: Florida: QB Tim Tebow, WR Percy Harvin, FS Major Wright; LSU: QB Matt Flynn, DT Glenn Dorsey, LB Ali Highsmith.
Keys to the Game: The defending champs are facing elimination from the hunt this year with another loss. The Tigers have only lost twice at home when ranked in the Top 5 -- once in the last 45 years. The key for LSU starts with slowing Florida QB Tim Tebow and being able to attack Florida's uncertain secondary in the passing game. The Gators will likely have to create turnovers to score against the fiercest defense in the country.
Here is a video for all my Tiger fans to help them get excited and ready for the big game. I hope you enjoy. To watch this video place mouse arrow over the bottom part of the link you will see it highlite. click it and it will open a big video window. to return to my blog just back page once.
For those fans of teams left on the schedule of LSU this is what you have to look foward to. These videos are also for anyone who hasn't had a chance to see what the Defense is working with.
On sunday USC was replaced by LSU as the #1 team on the AP poll but does it even matter... not at all. The AP poll isn't even used to determine who plays who for the National Championship game. All it does is provide College football fans with a reason to smack talk. What will matter is, this weekends game between LSU and Florida. If the Gators win how far do they move to get back in the hunt to possibly defend their NC title? If USC struggles this weekend and CAL. destroys it's opponent do they move ahead to the #1 or #2 spot in the polls? Also if all three top teams LSU, USC and CAL are upset where does S. Fla. fit in all this? those are the questions that I am waiting to see answerd and this weekends games couldn't come soon enough. Every year the College football season is more and more exciting. It's great for the game to see teams such as USF come out of nowhere and shock everyone. Kentucky is another team who has come out of nowhere it seems. Usualy only known for it's Basketball program Kentucky is off to a great start and is climbing in the polls and on the hunt for a birth in the SEC title game. They still have some tough games ahead of them with LSU and Fla still yet to play. I will actualy give them the nod against Fla. but think it will be tough for them to beat LSU and it's vaunted Defense. Nevertheless the whole State of Kentucky is behind them and we all know how passionate sports fans they are when it comes to thier Wildcats. Thing is I am assuming alot will and can happen here, we'll just have to wait and see. Everyone has a shot ,even the 1 loss teams. So fans of your favorite team keep rooting for them.It promises to be a wild ride the next couple of weeks as we will see teams seperate themselves from the rest of the pack. Let's forget about strength of schedule, which conference is stonger or any meaningless polls that have thier opinions on things. What matters most is winning. Win and win convincingly, that is the name of the game. For the same reason until your favorite team beats another top 5 team let's stop all the smack talk about who is better. If you just so happen to not have a top 5 team on the rest of your schedule, well then beat who you have and beat them like they stole from you. That doesn't mean running up the score on some sorry #### team. It means to just dominate in all facets of the game. So to fans of those teams that find themselves sniffing at the door of a National Championship game goodluck the rest of the way. Also to those fans that think your out of it with one loss, don't give up. There is still some games to be played that will possibly change the way things seem at this moment. That's the beauty of college football, almost everyone has a chance to be called the best that year.
Last year when I travelled to Fla. for the game between the Fla. Gators and the LSU Tigers I had the pleasure to meet some great people from Florida who are fans of the Gators. I've traveled many times to see my beloved tigers but never to the swamp as it is called. I had the best time I've ever had following the Tigers. Without giving away names I'll just say thank you to those people and thank you to everyone in Fla. for such a great time. I have included a link here for the youtube video of my weekend in Florida. I hope those that look at it, enjoy it. I know I had as much fun getting it together and reliving the memory o####reat weekend. This years game should be just as fun and exciting and I have invited those people to My home as I have made life long friends and a great friendly rivalry with these people. Goodluck Sat. Gators fans and enjoy.
The LSU tigers played a very mediocre team this weekend in the Tulane Greenwave, preparing themselves for a showdown with the Florida Gators in Death Valley. LSU started this game very poorly with penalties being the main factor that the game was so close in the first half. If LSU starts off slowly and has that many penalties against Fla. it will be a long day for LSU and Tiger fans alike. Fla. is a much better team than the Greenwave and will be a huge test for them. The defending champs will come into this game with something to prove. Until beaten they are the Champions and that pride could carry them a long way in this game. Fla runs a very efficient offense that can score in bunches, if LSU doesn't bring it's A game. The offensive line for LSU was aweful in the Tulane game with plenty of false starts. But the Defense kept the Greenwave under control and in the second half the Offense got it going. So here are my five reasons LSU will win this game next weekend.
1) LSU's Defense is just to damn tough. between the D-line and a damn good secondary Fla. will not have much time to pass the ball forcing Fla. QB Tim Tebow to make mistakes throwing.
2) Tebow will not be able to run the ball like he has thus far this season against teams with considerably weaker Defenses than LSU's
3) LSU will be able to exploit the young secondary of Fla. with some speedy recievers.
4) LSU will be able to also run the ball very well against the Gators always having fresh legs in the game with the many talented backs they have.
5) If Ryan Perilloux starts this game and finishes it. He is a much better QB than Matt Flynn and is more mobile.
nevertheless Fla. is a very good team and LSU better be ready. The gators are not coming to lose this game but ultimately will find themselves in that position. Either way this will be a very exciting game to watch for anyone who is a coll. football fan.
