A test today confirmed that Saints RB Deuce McAllister has sufferd a season ending knee injury. The test showed what he was fearing the most a torn ACL in his left knee. An injury simalar to the one he had just two years ago in his right knee. The injury happened in the second quarter when Deuce reached high to grab a short pass from QB Drew Brees and landed awkwardly. McAllister said there was some damage also to the MCL. FB Mike Karney who has been Deuce's main blocker since 2005 was pretty badly chocked up when asked about the injury. "I hugged him and started crying" Karney said taking a deep breath. "It's tough to see a great guy, first and foremost,a great player have to suffer another season ending injury... he's the best i've been around. It's sad. it's hard to take... I play the game for guys like him". The job of is Squarely of carrying this huge load now falls on Reggie Bush. He'll be backed up by Aaron Stecker and first year back Pierre Thomas who had a pretty good pre-season. Reggie is already asked to do alot for the struggling Saints but will need to step up his game to bare this burden. The Saints need a win and need them fast if they are to get back into the hunt for post season play. Reggie looks to be a little beefed up from last season and looks like he may be able to carry the ball 20-25 times a game. That remains to be seen though. what the Saints need is some of the outstanding things he was able to pull off during his days at USC and late last season. If the Saints needed a wake up call this is it. If they needed some kind of emotional motovation it would be sad that it had to come due to an injury from athe one player who is the Saints. A fan favorite in and around the New Orleans area, who played his college ball a few hours away at Ole' Miss and still resides in Jackson,Miss. during the off-season. Personaly it's hard for me to say where the Saints season is headed but it doesn't look good from here. Deuce will be sadly missed for the remainder of this season. It will be interesting to see what Bush brings to the table. You can call me crazy, stupid and any other name you may come up with. This Saints fan still believes, still has faith and will never give up hope or on my home team that someday we'll be the spotlight of glory
I agree, I still believe that we are GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL. First team in History to start a season 0-3 and win the SUPERBOWL. I think that reggie and Aaron both can do it. Where is Robert Meecham.
I hate that DM is out for the year, but as for the development of RB it might be the best thing, tho certainly not for the Saints.
What I mean is he's never had to concentrate on being a running back, only on being a playmaker. At USC LenDale White was actually the better "pure" running back, he knew how to be patient, let a hole open, and take the 3 yards when that is all there is. Reggie never needed to learn those things in college because he depended on his superior athleticism. Deuce was the same type as LenDale W in the Saints org. At the NFL level everybody is atheletic, so Reggies advantage in that area isn't enough, he has to "learn" the finer points of the position. Now he finally has the opportunity to do so, let's hope he does.
On the other hand, if the OL doesn't start doing it's job it won't matter, Breece will be injured and there won't be anybody to hand it to RB anyway. Speaking of Breece, he better get it together too. There are a lot of things on this team this year that remind me more of the "Ain'ts" of the bag-head era than the team last year.

Thomas will turn out to be a better RB than Reggie! Reggie is a good play maker, but as far as being an every down back, no way, unless he learns to run and hit a hole instead of dancing around so much! If ya watched da Saints 1st few games da Duece wasn't running like his old self from da start, makes ya wonder if he wasn't already hurt? Hope da Duece can recover from this injury!
you know cajunsmiles I was wondering the same thing but then I thought about how terrible the offensive line has been and just shrugged it off as that was the problem.
