WHY HATE PITTSBURGH AND THE STEELERS??
Mar 03, 2008 | 7:54AM | report this

Today I was perusing the net and came across a report by Glazer that the Steelers have signed Big Ben to a multi-year contract extension. This seemed to rankle a lot of non-Steeler fans for some reason. These "intelligent" fans wrote all kind of abuse on Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh fans and the Steelers in particular.

It always amuses me and ticks me off too; all the hate and venom that come from these types. Why? Is it jealousy; is it anger (cause their teams lose........all the time); is it because they cannot think of anything intelligent to write; or is it because they did not get enough love growing up?? I wonder.

People, the season was over loooong ago, time to move on and await the new season. All teams are now engaged in things to improve their play and to become more competative, it will work, or not. Why cannot we wait until the season begins?? The Browns have selected some players who they believe will do much to improve the team, let us hope so, cause a hard fought game is more entertaining, even though I like to see my Steelers "blow out" the opposing team.

The draft isn't even here yet, so why not wait to see who the teams select at least? Then you have to wait until training camp and see who makes the team. AND then, comes pre-season, followed by the REAL deal. When it comes down to it, the only thing one can say is "we shall see".

Finally, get over the fact that your team won, or lost, that is now history! Time to move on cause if you do not learn from history you are bound to repeat it. And it seems that many fans have not learned that yet; they still think the Steelers did not win that Super Bowl; win or lose, they did something well nigh impossible to reach that goal.

Hopefully all teams will make do with what they garner in trades, drafts and free agency; allowing us to witness a glorious NFL season! Good luck to all, cause IT IS ONLY A GAME, AFTER ALL!

Hi fuzz!

Years ago the Steelers were an NFL icon known for losing. They just couldn't get it right, then came the 1970's amd it seemed they could do no wrong. I'll never forget the immaculate reception and characters like Rocky Blier and Jack Lambert. Today the Steelers have set the bar about as high as it can be for themselves. They are one of the elite teams in sports and because of it people want to tear them down so they'll be on the same level as their teams... It's too bad, but like Bill Belicheck likes to say, it is what it is...

Thanks fuzz!

Dwindy! Thanx for the read! Yeah, but...... Does it make any sense? I mean, you cheer your team, I cheer mine. Does that mean you and I are idiots?? Why would I cheer on another team, say the Browns? Why should you support the Steelers? I can see loyalty, but to "fight" over it??
Course I guess we have had actual wars over less, I think. Shame on us! Fuzz

Mr.Joker! Thanks for the visit! I post when I get "aroused" by stupid things; like those who write venom laced #### on the "sports news". I used to post kind of frequently. but........
I would like to write some of the stuff you, Dwindy and EdHardiman, among others write but my forte has always been playing off others words in print or verbally. Like I used to get my mother-in-law all the time; she'd say something like "Are you coming?" (are you going with us?) You know my response while looking down. Always good for a laugh, or hold up index finger and thumb and comment I got this, give or take an inch, my wife would say: "Don't lie!" Fuzz

Fuzz,
People that do stuff like that are very immature regardless of their age. It's just pure stupidity and they epitomize the word ingnorance. All one can do is laugh it off and be thankful you are not among that group of idiots. Take care buddy and goodluck to the Steelers great sign getting Big Ben for the long haul.

Gambitxxx! Thanks much for coming by! Yeah, but it still #### me, as others, ah well....... Hell, it is only a game, but a business to the teams.
Ben reported to have signed 8 years, 108 million, with 36 mil guaranteed. Reports indicate they are looking hard a the Vikes M. Moore very hard for a return man, maybe RB. He has not much to do since Peterson and is supposed to be very good. Fuzz

Moor is pretty good especialy as a special teams player. Hope you guys get him. Parker could use a good RB to give him a breather as well. I watched Moore in College here at Tulane. The guy has some moves and speed. Not as fast as Parker but fast enough.

Thanks again gambit. Correction to Ben's contract: 102 mil, not 108, but what's 6 mil between friends?
And I love how all of a sudden me and Dwindy are shoved off to the no notice site.

fuzz....what's up brother?

I hate the Steelers because the Jaguars always beat them like a tied up goat. No, wait. That's why I like the Steelers.

Fuzz, good to see and old familiar face around here...I didn't mean your avatar........LOL!

I missed your post on Cope........Anyone who doesn't have a Terrible Towel should go out and buy one. The proceeds from it go to a good cause.

So far so good in the off season transactions, the Rossum release was a minor surprise, but Haggans becoming a free agent might mean something unless one of the new guy's are ready to step up. Other wise it's just the Alan Faneca question, but even that is small potatoes compared to keeping Big Ben signed.

Hey Country!! Thanks for the visit!! You know, don'tja, that the Jags (who I wish Pgh never played cause...) are cloness of the Steelers. Really, the owner wanted to build a team that could compete just like the Steelers. Jack DelRio is a damn good coach, I think in the mould of Chas Noll. But, nobody hates them Jags like they do the Steelers; makes not a lick of sense to me. Fuzz

Quacks!! My man! Thanx for visiting. I had to post something after reading some of the smacktalk about the Steelers, on the Fox Sports site. Some "fans" of other teams really get to me, but.... When they get abusive etc., I get to writing. I hope Haggans stays, but it is a money issue, as always. Ben, with just a little more protection will be okay, but...... Gotta make reads and throws quicker and not rely on his size and physical ability to escape so much, that can kill his career or him. Fuzz

fuzz; there ya go, glad to see you back. you could have been a little more venomous and sarcastic but i think you drove your point home. since 72 the steelers have been solid, with the exception of a year here and a year there " cliff stoudt, bubby brister years" its all jeolousy. now lets hope for an Oline to smack the browns around with.

Mr. Blue and Mr. Orange!! Thanks guys for the visit, I hope and pray that someone realizes that it is counterproductive to abuse others. Course as one sits behind the cloak of anonymity (where's spell chk when needed)without even a picture or an avatar of note one can be brazen and "brave". Wonder how these people would be in person? Fuzz, great post, if only some people could follow your advice. It's terrible to see all the hate that is directed by other fans of other teams towards Steelers fans and the organization while I see none of the same thing back at their team from us. In particular the Browns, Bengals, and Ravens fans. I don't understand why a lot of them have to be so crude and resort to unnecessary vulgar language. Good clean trash talk is fun but when you start talking about people's mothers and what they did last night, it just goes too far.

Capn26! Thanks for the read! I don't know what it is with the people who do this; I can cuss and use words better than a 30 year sailor, but I choose not to do so; I like to think I have a little more class than that. I may not, but I like to think that. Fuzz

Let's just say the Steelers haven't made very smart moves this offseason. They let Alan Faneca, an top-of-the-line O-Lineman leave, and a few days later resigned an unstable QB to a pretty ridiculous deal. Ben hasn't shown the kind of responsibility and performance you pay a guy $102 mil for. As for the abuse between teams, that's just something you have to get used to. It's not just the Steelers taking it, trust me. I'm a Dallas fan living in Washington D.C. and I take stuff like that every day.
