For all of you doubters, Tim Tebow is the real deal. He is a gentlemen and a Christian, and plays with all of his heart. As for the rumors that his teamates consider him a ball hog--well that's plain hogwash. He doesn't call most of the plays where he's used.
Now, I have my doubts regarding whether or not a sophomore should win the Heisman. But with this young man and the fact that he throws himself into physical danger every week, injury is a real possibility at all times.
He won it on his accomplishments this year..and here's hoping that he stays healthy and we see him in the NFL--after he finishes four years at Florida of course!!
So hats off to Tebow for making it with a young team to support him. He has the Gator nation's hearfelt thanks for making what he did part of this season. Watch out world for UF next year!
They got it right, didn't they? I see the discussions continue on whether Tim's accomplishments were good enough or not. Well, the trophy is his.
Personally, I wish the Gators could turn up a good runner to compliment Tebow. That way defenses just couldn't concentrate on Tim and I believe he will rise to a whole different level (if that's possible).
Here's hoping his current injury is all he'll have to contend with in his career...
Yep, congrats to Tebow, the Heisman is well deserved. If Florida next year has a real stud running back to complement Tim they will be dangerous. Will have to see whether Florida, Georgia, or Oklahoma get the preseason number one, not that it matters much except for bragging rights. Unlike Michigan at #5 this past August, those three should actually be able to back it up once the season tees up.
WHATS THIS?? You found time to write a post? Well, GOOD POST!!! Congrats on Tebow winning the trophy! I still have reservations about a soph. winning it, but he did have a good year. like I said, look out next year! Just hope moody can stay healthy, because he has a tendency to get ####ed up pretty easy.
Dwindy, there's nothing I would like better than to see a great running back emerge. Meyer is working hard on that one. Yeah, we had a good offensive line, but he received several injuries not even reported in the national press.
Go purple-- I don't give a flip where they're ranked until the end of the season. I said they were ranked too high this year and were lucky with our defense to only lose 3 games. USC will be physically really strong. So life will be interesting.
Wilson! Great to hear from you. Yeah I had a little more time this weekend and couldn't keep my mouth shut about all the negative talk about Tebow. I'm keeping USC in mind as a real contenda!!
The Heisman has nothing to do with the religion of the candidate or his dedication to ssme.
Here's why Tebow shouldn't have won. He caved under pressure, he showed little teamwork, the offensive game was all about Tebow, not Florida.
Examine Florida's schedule and see the caliber of the teams they have beaten and who beat them. They LOST 3 games to Auburn, who had an 8-4 season and to LSU & Georgia. But consider who they beat, and please don't tell me that any of them were powerhouses..........that's a myth which the following proves.
In parentheses are the W/L records of the teams they played against. These show a 57-52 season's record for the teams that they beat. In other words, barely average competition.........facts speak for themselves.
The teams they lost to had a combined 28-8 season.
Western Kentucky W 49-3 (7-5)
Troy W 59-31 (8-4)
Tennessee W 59-20 (9-4)
Mississippi W 30-24 (3-9)
Auburn L 20-17 (8-4)
LSU L 28-24 (10-2)
Kentucky W 45-37 (5-7)
Georgia L 42-30 (10-2)
Vanderbilt W 49-22 (5-7)
South Carolina W 51-31 (6-6)
Florida Atlantic W 59-20 (7-5)
Florida State W 45-12 (7-5)
So Tebow scored the 20/20.........big deal, he's a gloryseeking ball hog who calls plays which favor his stats, to heck with his running backs who have better per carry stats.
Any good QB who's a leader respects the role of his running backs and SHARES the Glory. There are many Q-backs in the NCAA who could have done the 20/20 IF THEIR COACH ALLOWED THEM to do so, what's so wonderful about a BALL HOG????
The reality is the Tebow and Mcfadden were head and shoulders better than anyone else this year and either would have been an excellent choice. Tebow was my #1 pick and McFadden was my 1a pick.
Congrats to Tebow. Job well done.

pjal, stop riding the fence and tell us where you stand on this!!! Its about the best player in college football and he is. If yu don;t like it fine but the reality was it was either he or McFadden and NO ONE else was even close.
Pial, when the UF offensive coordinator says that Tebow is following the calls, I believe him. I fully recognize that Florida doesn't deserve any kudos, but Tebow does. The facts that he is a gentleman and a Christian were descriptive not a justification. But then I think you're going to believe whatever you want to anyway! Keep calling them the way you see 'em!
I always thought the Heisman was for the best player, regardless or record(9-3 pathetic).
This year, Tebow was the best, hands down.
If the award had a cap on eligibility for juniors and seniors, then McFadden would be it.
Congrats Timmy. The WWE awaits your arrival.
Leave college now, since you're maxed out. I'll even buy you a drink when you're legal.
Funhistoryteacher is just writing her thoughts, her well wishs and it's her post. Why the sourgrapes !!!
Went to your BIO. Must have pulled for Colt B. He is a great one, but his days are yet to come- IN THE NFL. I think he's the quarterback of the NFL and you better know the NFL scouts are foaming at the mouth.

How did Tebow cave under pressure? I'm curious as to this remark, considering that in the TEAMS 3 losses we lost a tough game at home by 3 points (20-17) to a team (Auburn) that defensively stopped our offense, but Tim still was 20 of 27 for 201 yds with 1 TD and 1 int, and 19 carries for 75 yds and 1TD. Defense couldn't stop Auburn and allowed them to score the game winning field goal. No caving there. Against the No. 1 team at the time, LSU, AT LSU, the team domianted the game until late in the 4th quarter when defense couldn't stop Hester and we lost a tough game by 4 points (28-24). Tebow was 12 of 26 with 2 TD and 1 Int, and had 67 yds on 16 carries with 1 TD, again HE didn't cave. If it wasn't for a late fumble and our defense unable to stop LSU on 4th downs, may have been a different outcome.
Now against Georgia, our biggest point loss, Tebow was 14 of 22, 236 yds with 1 TD, and due to him being sacked 6 times, had 13 carries for -15 yds and 2 TDs, while playing with a severly bruised shoulder and not being able to "play" his style of game due to the injury. Again, defensively we couldn't stop their running game which allowed them to control the clock and gain big yards, but I believe again with his numbers, Tebow didn't cave.
So I am really curious about his caving?!??
Oh and by the way, 7 of the opponents you listed are playing in Bowl Games , 2 in BCS games, with one of them for the NC!!

I'm a die-hard University of Florida GATOR fan, proud supporter of two national championships in 2007 and one in 2006. Yes I do teach History. Some of you are saying B0000RING, but I find it fun and so do my students.
I also support the Oklahoma Sooners especially when they're doing well. . I'm a huge fan of NCAA sports, somehow it loses its flavor when they get paid.
I have no children, except the hundreds I teach. I'm old as the hills, so don't bother to hit on me--as if anyone would!!!.
