Okay all of you Florida Gator Haters here's a news flash for you. You may not believe this so brace yourselves:
Hot off the press:
University of Florida's baseball team is not going to win a national championship. In fact we didn't even reach the regionals. We fired our coach And we are looking for a new coach. Are we whining? no. So those of you who think everything is going the Gator way can celebrate!
I want to come down there and tour this college. Is it a popular school because of the sunshine and beaches and attractions, or the school highly ranked in many curriculums very high. Don't call me a sore loser, just a curious one. i've been to many schools for various reasons but never to Florida.
First of all I hope you got a laugh out of this one.
Marty--UF is in the top ten public colleges in the nation--third I think. Their med school, vet school, education, communications, engineering, etc are fantastic. Second, Gainesville is not really what most people think when they think about Florida. It's a great hardwood canopy, beautiful spot with a lot of amenities. So people who come to UF like it well enough to stay the rest of their lives.
We are located about 50 minutes from beaches too!
Everyone should come visit us. The Rev and Frank are based here too although I've never met them.

1steeler-- Hi, I've just finished with school-- Hooray!!!
No need to feel sorry for us. We really had a miserable 4 years since being No2 at the College World Series in 2002. That was the first year McMahon was here and the players were all recruits of Andy Lopez now at Arizona who has taken three different teams to the series.
This was probably one of the few times when Jeremy Foley, AD made a big mistake by firing Lopez.
But like I always say--there's ups and downs with every team. It's just that I've dished out money for a season ticket for years, cause I'm a big baseball fan.
Actually Newberry High School does better with their baseball team!!

Rev and Blue grass lady I didn't delete your comments intentionally. I changed my blog to reflect Rev's comments on firing the coach. Somehow I deleted your comments by mistake

NP fht!! I am glad you didn't delete them on purpose!! Rev, if you show up at the convention before I give you a great big hug I am gonna kick yo butt!! ;)~
I don't hold being a gator fan against you fht. Everyone has to learn for themselves!! ;)~
I am so glad that we can have fun with this. I am embarassed for both UK fans and FL fans for the way they are behaving on other blogs. It is stupid and immature in my book!
Enjoyed the read fht!! I wonder if my favorites can handle 2 gator fans? I'll give it a try!!
I moved to Gainesville in '88. I had to move back to south FL when I got seperated in '99. I absolutely loved it there. If my daughter wasn't down here, I'd be there now.
lmao....I don't think he is the "faithful" type! I see him messing with lisa allllllllll the time! Good thing I'm not jealous! lol
I am looking forward to college basketball and giving you and rev a hard time ;) Don't worry, I can take it as well as dish it out...lol
My husband is a German teacher. We are both history nuts especially WWII. I traveled the US interviewing WWII veterans. They are truely the Greatest Generation! I was a math major and while looking for work as a reporter again, I substitue teach and coach. Really glad to meet ya fht!
BluegrassLady--Ditto back at you. I'm a teacher who deserted into corporate America for about 20 years as a marketing director for a big-time environmental engineering firm. I returned to teaching three years ago and am having a ball. Stress for teachers? Not even close to what I was getting everyday to produce fantastic proposals, travel all over the US and keep 1,800 people employed. I think the students are hysterical!

fht, the students will keep you young! Plus I am at shool if my 17 yr old daughter needs me :)
sry lisa...no desk duty here!! Hrts the knees too bad...lol I heard the term tramp stamp for the first time EVER on your blog..lol no stamps and no tramps in my house! But I hear rev has one....rofl It is a pic of BD!!
FHT, Great post. Proof that the Gators can't win everything. Of course I thought losing out on the Men's NCAA Track and Field Championship while watching Florida State win the title was an even worse late spring/early summer blow for gator fans. Do you think Billy Donovan can coach High Jumpers?
Frank--Thanks. I actually think Donovan could coach anything if he was taught the basics. He has a way with young athletes. Agree with you on track and field..it was hearbreaking!
BGL-- World War II is a favorite of mine too. My father was in the Army Air Corps from the start and had great tales to tell. My mother also spends lots of time interviewing Vets. She sends her write-ups to something involving the WWII memorial. She's 87, going strong, and is a writer too. Journalism was my minor, so I've had some minor experience.
Did you watch "Flags of our Fathers"? My students and I really had a great time deciding on all the themes presented in the movie, loved it even though it wasn't totally accurate! For one thing the second flag was put up because the higher ups wanted a bigger flag to symbolize their victory. Anyway, I haven't seen Iwo Jima, but I think I've missed it until it comes out on DVD!
I personally think you and the Rev make a great team and you look like you could fit under his desk too! lol

I loved Flags of our Fathers and you have GOT to watch Iwo Jime! It was great! My favorite WWII movie was Saving Private Ryan. When that movie ended all I could say was "WOW!"
BGL--That's my student's favorite WWII movie too. It's in my top ten, but I still have Casablanca, The Great Escape, Tora Tora Tora, Shindler's List, and Patton above it.
Both of my parents were in the Greatest Generation and I can testify that each was great in their own way. My Dad eventually became AF 1 Pilot for Eisenhower, Kennedy, and Johnson. His favorite, of course, was Eisenhower. My mother did everything for months at a time with three kids and a husband on long flights! They both started off being poor farmer's kids in Iowa and neither one of them got a college degree. But they definitely made a difference wherever they were!

Your parents sound great and if I were still at the job I had I would beg for an interview with both of them!!
I would put Patton and Shindler's list right up there with Saving Private Ryan. Tom Hanks is right up there as well now with George C Scott as one of my fav actors!
BGL--Unfortunately, my father died a few years ago. He was eighty and my mother had already chronicled his life. My mother's still going strong at 87.
YES, I did listen to the show..at least the first 30 minutes until I got dragged away by a phone call from Mother (who you CAN NOT blow off without hearing about it forever). I thought you did an awesome job of representing UK and women everywhere who are into sports. You very adeptly answered Frank's question about why basketball is king in Kentucky without slighting the football fans--good job! I was impressed with the whole show and I love your accent! Of course, to you, it's not an accent. Just like I don't think I'm developing a slightly southern accent until I go some where like Jersey or NewYawk.lol
Frank is really good as a moderator and put everyone at ease. I was surprised, as always, at the depth of knowledge everyone displayed. I feel pretty much like a homer with at least some knowledge of SEC teams and the Big Twelve (cause of my OU connections. Going to visit your blog now!
You're right about my Mother. She's writing her own, but I should do one about her from my perspective, and then after she dies, perhaps combine the two.
Again, you did a great job on the show!
I'm looking forward to College Football and Basketball season. We don't have that much going for us this year on either team, but I'm sure we'll go down fighting. You and the Rev (and hopefully me) should have plenty to talk about!!

Okay, now that we have determined the baseball team stinks, I have a question. How much do you know about jacksonville? Like nice areas and such?I might be trying to get a job at cecil field. Let me know what you know about the area. Thanks ruffnecks
Ruffnecks, hi to you to. I responded on your blog, but I'm still looking into it. By the way be sure to get a house built after 2002, that's when the hurricane regs went into effect and substantially lower your insurance rates. NEVER buy anything within 5 miles of the beach!
To get things from your pictures to post, just download them to Photobucket, then use them from there. If you have aby more questions about that let me know. I finally got my computer working. Now if I can just get my ebay deal straightened out...lol
I'm a die-hard University of Florida GATOR fan, proud supporter of two national championships in 2007 and one in 2006. Yes I do teach History. Some of you are saying B0000RING, but I find it fun and so do my students.
I also support the Oklahoma Sooners especially when they're doing well. . I'm a huge fan of NCAA sports, somehow it loses its flavor when they get paid.
I have no children, except the hundreds I teach. I'm old as the hills, so don't bother to hit on me--as if anyone would!!!.
