For all of you doubters, Tim Tebow is the real deal. He is a gentlemen and a Christian, and plays with all of his heart. As for the rumors that his teamates consider him a ball hog--well that's plain hogwash. He doesn't call most of the plays where he's used.
Now, I have my doubts regarding whether or not a sophomore should win the Heisman. But with this young man and the fact that he throws himself into physical danger every week, injury is a real possibility at all times.
He won it on his accomplishments this year..and here's hoping that he stays healthy and we see him in the NFL--after he finishes four years at Florida of course!!
So hats off to Tebow for making it with a young team to support him. He has the Gator nation's hearfelt thanks for making what he did part of this season. Watch out world for UF next year!
So now we start finally getting the lowdown on what's happening with the quarterback position.
Well, you see there's this problem and we're only 4 weeks from the opening game. Meyer flat out doesn't know what the final decision is going to be. He's even thinking Tebow might not be the starter..
Newton (a real freshman) looked like he was the front runner to becoming part of a revolving quarterback position, because Waggener ( a junior college transfer) got injured. And then there's John Brantley (a real freshman prep All-America quarterback ) who we thought was going to be redshirted this year, is doing much better than expected, and Meyer thinks he won't be redshirted after all.
Meanwhile Newton has an injured back, Wagner missed all of Spring Practice and according to offensive coordinator Dan Mullen--"it's all wide open"
Now as a Gator fan this bothers me. Can we base a team on all these unproven guys? I have my doubts. We're not going to be firing on all cylinders until well into the season.
I appreciate the fact that most of you are cheering and saying UF deserves it. And it's true that Meyer won last year on Zook's recruits.
So my orange and blue faith is still intact, but it's taking a little extra push to get my brain thinking this is going to turn out well.
Okay all of you Florida Gator Haters here's a news flash for you. You may not believe this so brace yourselves:
Hot off the press:
University of Florida's baseball team is not going to win a national championship. In fact we didn't even reach the regionals. We fired our coach And we are looking for a new coach. Are we whining? no. So those of you who think everything is going the Gator way can celebrate!
On posts on the fantasy boards to posts on blog sites, it appears that Pac 10 fans need to assert their superiority over those "poor chillin" in the Southeast.
Most SEC fans think the teams and coaches in the Pac 10 are good. Why do we have to hear justification and ridicule from Pac 10 fans continually?
I think Southern Cal has the best shot at a national football title. My friends and I can evaluate teams and coaches just as well as folks on the west coast.
All of the conferences have pluses and minuses, everyone doesn't agree on what makes a good coach, but to consistently belittle one conference and its coaches seems a bit much. As in --Don't Y'all have something better to do?
I don't understand the wave of posts and articles (there's even one on Fox Sports) specifically saying they hate Noah and then the Gators because of him.
He's a different personality, no doubt about it. But he's really into the game and his antics are genuine and not meant to entertain, but to motivate him and his team mates. Ok, he looks a little different too, but #### remarks certainly aren't called for! And constant comments about the pony tail--what are we back in the 50's when everyone had to come out looking like a cookie cutter duplicate.
Why don't writers concentrate on the game the Gators play, their unselfishness and ability to work together? Sorry, they are the defending champions, no real need to pick on them for that either! I'm a little fed up with the whining.
When OSU and Wisconsin meet on Sunday, it's obvious that someone's going to lose. Of course, Wisconsin may already be knocked down a peg or two because of their recent loss.
Meanwhile, Gators cinch the SEC and need to win out the rest of the season to satify all of us rabid Gator fans. They seemed energized against University of South Carolina --but then that wasn't much of a contest.
Things are heating up for March Madness, so hold on to your hats!
Is this some wierd twist of fate or what? So here we are right now ranked 1-Gators and 2-OSU. I guess it goes to prove that both schools have a good sports program. I hope that OSU doesn't think they're going to take the big one. Gators already beat them once! I'm going to claim (like SC did in football) that we really don't want to see a rematch!!
I'm a die-hard University of Florida GATOR fan, proud supporter of two national championships in 2007 and one in 2006. Yes I do teach History. Some of you are saying B0000RING, but I find it fun and so do my students.
I also support the Oklahoma Sooners especially when they're doing well. . I'm a huge fan of NCAA sports, somehow it loses its flavor when they get paid.
I have no children, except the hundreds I teach. I'm old as the hills, so don't bother to hit on me--as if anyone would!!!.
