Sore Winners (Giants fans)
Feb 04, 2008 | 10:12AM | report this

Congratulations to the World Champion Giants. As far as your fans go, most of you suck. Why the hell do you need to bring up spygate now? It's not enough that you won the most important sporting event in the world? You have to take cheap shots on the Patriots for something that never made any impact on any game? How pathetic. You're representing New York about as well as I'm used to hearing. Every team cheats and you know it, but because the Patriots were actually caught, you feel it necessary to offset that fact and put the spotlight on them.

Enjoy Eli Manning by the way. He's destined to be the next Brett Favre. He won you one ring, which is all he's gonna get and he'll continue to lead the league in interceptions for years to come.

Don't be too upset Fresh. They're just jealous of the Pats dynasty and want to taint it anyway they can. They know the Giants won't ever be a dynasty...not with Eli at the helm.

The Patriots have a HISTORY (yes freaking History) of cheating and being caught. This is one of many even if it didn't have an impact on any outcome.
Wehn coach B threw the flag I thought the guy in the stands with a video camera told him too.

most important sporting event in the USA, you mean...rest of the world only has a passing interest in the superbowl.

I think a lot of the backlash is due to the fact that the Giants did what many thought they couldn't do; ruin the Patriots perfect season.

If the 1 (in 18-1) had been in the first round, I doubt anyone would even be talking about it.

And the Patriots fans haven't been talking smack in every single football related blog on Foxsports all season long? Quit whining. You lost, suck it up. You're just like that cry baby Belichek, who walked off the field before the game was even over. Take it like a man you loser.

Mischief: True. Eli's good, but he has to come back to earth next season.

Colorado: The Pats have a history of being suspected of cheating, not being caught.

Tezqm99: You're right. It's only in the USA. And I give them all the credit in the world for beating the Pats, but their fans just #### me off.

Kellyscott: Definitely a good game. My favorite add was the Night at the Roxbury one.

Nordy55: Belichick walked off the field with one second left. The game was OVER, so don't act like that was a big deal cause it's not. He shook Coughlin's hand. Also, Pats fans absolutely talk smack, but we're smart enough to know when something's been dragged out to the point of it being a dead or pointless subject.

Fresh - The tape of the snow blower is in my imagination. The fact the NFL did not allow the Pat's to host the phins for over 20 years in Nov or Dec as a penalty is make beleive.
I beleive they lost a draft pick for signing Kieth Byars (after Mia cut him) and having him teach NE the phins auditables.
The fact is these are true and they were penalized. The fact is there is a culture of cheating (and not so well)appears to be fact.

The pathetic Patroits deserved this ####-kicking. Don't need to bring up the past or look into the future to see that this cocky patroits team deserved to lose. Ha ha ha ha !!!!
Patriots sucked when it mattered most. They were led by the overzealous coach who cannot forsee a stop on 4th and 13. Should have opened his proud eyes and kicked a fricking field goal. Nice call belichek, you loser. Nice post-game interviewer, loser. Justice served- patriots lose.

Walking off the field because the game was over is not wrong, leaving your team behind is classless.
I almost thought he was classy when he met coach C at midfield (with 1 second left), hugged him (that what it looked like to me) than left. Acknowledging the truth is great, how could he have won with that much (little) time on the clock?
He is the leader of men, he lead them into battle for 18 (and zero) weeks. He should have led them off the field in defeat (one of the greatest SB of all times), that would have been class.

Colorado: I guess I can see your point about BB not being classy, but seriously, it was one second. It's one of those things that should be acknowledged, but not dwelled upon.

Endogator: You're absolutely right. Brady couldn't throw in that last minute and the defense couldn't stop anything in the last three minutes. The Giants deserved to win.

Do you actually think they will EVER stop talking about spygate? This is the US, any and all controversies get talked about over and over and over, because its getting the ratings, headlines, and attention. Get used to it man. The media will hang this over Belichek's head for quite a while. I honestly can't blame them for doing so also. He doesn't respect the media, so they're going to try to dig up every little thing on him. You and the rest of the Boston fans should ignore it and be happy with how blessed you have been in the 3 big sports. The Sox won the series, the Pats came close to a perfect season, and the Celtics look like they could take the Eastern Conference title. I'm from the Milwaukee area, so just put yourself in our shoes. We have the Packers, but what have the Brewers or Bucks done in the last 25 years?

I'm sorry, the Pats and their fans deserve no sympathy, and they will get none. As arrogant as their were for as long as their were, they deserved every bit of that loss last night. Spygate or no Spygate, the Pats were the second best team on the field last night, and they walked in expecting to roll over the G-Men.

Nordy: I don't approve of the way Belichick handles the media either. Kinda pisses me off sometimes. But I just hate how everyone frowns on videotaping more than steroid use. It doesn't make sense. Steroids directly improve your team (or at least an individual), while the videotaping, at least in this case did nothing.

I agree with fresh on everything except that Giants fans are sore losers. Not all of the remarks made by the haters in the past 14-15 hours has been from a Giants fan. Most of the true Giants fans have congratulated the Patriots on a great season and wish the best for them next year. I know I did and I meant it.

Another thing to note, the Giants may not look like the makings of a dynasty on paper, but they were never supposed to make it past the Cowboys or Packers on paper and weren't even supposed to be mentioned in the same breath as the Pats in the eyes of many. I don't make predictions, but I see success following Eli now that he has gotten that #### off his back.

The G-Men used a lot of rookies. It was hillarious that Shockey wins his ring on IR. Boss man ran with his only catch. Dynasty, time will tell, great scouting for sure.
Boltz, the Pats are bunch of cheaters. They played a good game and were beaten. NYG looked more motivated. I think the Pats thought they could just show up and win. If you had to pick either team to put on the field, I would take the Pats over the GIants everytime. Undermotivated, absolutely. Overated, not so much. This is one of the top 5 SB of all times.

Obviously after the game - no one can predict what will happen. If Eli wins another superbowl, good for him - if he doesn't and he is the next Brett Farve, who in their right mind wouldn't want that title. You don't have to win Superbowls to be remembered - You play with integrity, heart and honor and play consistanlty. Yes, I know Eli isn't consistent, but I think after last night he has re-defined the phase "Put up or Shut Up". The Giants brought heart to the game - the Pats brought a great team that FAILED TO GO HOME WITH THE LAMBARDI TROPHY. Even being the die hard Cowboy fan that I am, I was glad to see the Giants win. It was truly a sporting even that will always be remembered as one of the greatest moments in sports history.

By the way......can we stop talking about SpyGate. Who honestly cares? The Superbowl is now part of history...and the Patriot Dynasty is history also. The Giants beat the Pats - If you could rewind the season and the Coach hadn't done what he did........The Giants would still be proud owners of the Lambardi Trophy, the catch would still be talked about, Eli would still play with all his might. The Giants came to win - they came to prove they were deserving and they were.

Wow fresh, guess as someone who doesn't root for either the Giants or the Pats I'd rather hear the comments of those you call "sore winners" than the likes of you and all the other "sore losers" in sports.

Of course, if you really think the Super Bowl is the most important sporting event in the WORLD you are clueless anyway.

Finally, with the new revelations regarding the 2002 game, the Pats and Beli are TAINTED FOREVER. Sorry pal, that's just the way it is according to every poll I've seen about the impact their proven propensity to cheat has had. :-(

As far as Belichick leaving his team behind....football is supposed to be the ultimate team sport. How does the head coach, the guy who stresses team and sacrifice everyday, leave his players on the field. Call it classless. Call it clueless. Either way, it was a bad move.

Spygate: Don't tell me that they cheated and got no benifit from it. Belichick is too smart to break a rule and risk getting caught, without the benifit out weighing the risk.

As for the fans: I have all but given up on expecting all of the fans to have grace with winning or losing. There will always be bucket heads who want to kick a team when it is down and others who want to drag down the winners.

By the way, I remember a lot of Patriots fans who were high on the horse talking about how the Giants had no chance of winning this game. Those are the fans who excite some of the Giants fans to come back with "I told you so" type of comments.

I see the denial hasn't stopped. It's so convenient - "every team cheats, steroids, the videotaping, at least in this case did nothing".

Does it really work for you? Pretty pathetic that you blame those that have higher standards for not letting this go. If, instead of an entire year of this #### from the Pats fans, you all had owned it, people would have not felt the need to keep reminding you that it DOES matter.

I'm with Bolt Backer 21, BELICHICK IS TOO SMART TO BREAK A RULE FOR NO BENEFIT, and the Pats QB, fans and media "experts" giving the Pats the super bowl victory before the game was played invites the deserved response from the Giants faithful!

The Pats and their fans want the spygate to go away because it is a disgrace to the NFL!If all teams cheat, then why haven't they been caught?
I think the Pats deserve to get eveything they get especially when they ran up the score on certain games! They just wanted to rub the teams noses in it!Well in the S.B.they got their behinds whippped on the field instead of on the scoreboard! This will stay with the Pats for years to come as the biggest failure of a team in NFL history! This coach that you hail as the greatest ever is a poor sport! He should be a graceful loser but he isn't because he is an arrogant person!

Dickeydoo: The Pats were the Cinderella team against the Rams, so I can understand everyone the Giants to win in that respect.

Dave in Indy: This was very cathartic for me.

uncleloggins: Yep...this was the Pats chance to become legendary and they messed it up. That's why it hurts more than just simply losing a Superbowl.

HoosierRacer13: I was only a sore loser because I ran into so many sore winners who had nothing better to do than talk about than spygate instead of the Giants' win.

BoldBacker21: I never believed the Pats were going to blow out the Giants or even come close. That was the media being arrogant. And I don't mind "I told you so" comments. They're expected.

slshusker: I know I came off like a sore loser, but as I said, it's only because so many Giants fans (or people posing as Giants fans) found it necessary to talk about anything but the Giants win. It's like they didn't even care that their team won...just that the Pats lost.

unbelogable: That's honestly how I feel about Eli. It's partly because I've never gotten over how ridiculous he acted on draft day a few years back. In that sense, yes, it's immature, but I really do feel that he'll be lucky to win any more titles.

nbaistheworst: Then please tell me what the benefit was because I'd love to hear it. Nobody has given any reasonable ideas yet, but good luck.

logicalreason: Yes, spygate was a disgrace, but hopefully by next year you will all come up with something else to drag out over the year instead of this. It'll just be really sad if you have to keep coming back to this because you have no new material.

And, unfortunately, I think there will be new material for Spygate. I actually hope there isn't (I strongly dislike the Patriots - but want them to go down on the field, not through a Nixonian collapse).

ice696969: The Pats will be better than the Giants next year. I see the Giants sort of like the Bears from last year, although I don't think the Giants fall will be nearly as drastic. The Pats should easily blow through their schedule next year and be back in the playoffs. AFC & NFC West. Both are jokes for the most part.

Dave in Indy: If there's new material, it will be only because they will be under a microscope for the next couple years. Everyone's bound to blow any little thing they do out of proportion, so if there is a big thing, we'll hear about all year just like the stupid "spygate." And what smoke are you talking about? The season's over.

fresh:

Gee, no comment with regard to the denial portion of my response? Of course you have added another of my favorite ones, "Spygate is old news". The denial by the NFL commissioner, Pats and their fans that the cheating is a REAL ISSUE is the reason so many non-Giants fans jumped onto the anti-Pats bandwagon. Why can't you see that and admit it?

"Then please tell me what the benefit was because I'd love to hear it. Nobody has given any reasonable ideas yet, but good luck."

It is obvious to the non-biased that a library of videotape of opponents over time, particularly if taken when the other teams are unaware, for the purpose of linking or even identifying sets of signals with plays, can identify tendencies or patterns which can be used to gain an advantage. Since the players have to remember the signals/plays relationship, they aren't that easy to just change randomly, the patterns remain.

OTHERWISE, WHY HAVE THE RULES THAT ARE IN PLACE?

ice696969:

I see you are using standard Patsfan denial to feel better with the "every team does it to get an edge" mantra.

You go one better with "does this mean the giants are a better football team than the pats i don't think so"

For most of us unbiased observers, the game was played AND THE BETTER TEAM WON!

nbaistheworst: I didn't respond to the denial because it's not denial. I admit that what the Patriots did was wrong, but it's not like every other team isn't doing it and if you don't believe that, you're in denial.

You sound like you're assuming that the Pats videotape all the time, but since they were only caught once, you just sound like an arrogant ####, especially since the tapes from the Jets were destroyed.

The signals/plays don't change randomly? I've heard players and coaches say that they've changed signals during games in baseball and in football. Obviously, taping isn't nearly as advantageous as you think.

Nice namecalling, points to your immaturity (see Belichick)

"I didn't respond to the denial because it's not denial."

As the old saying goes, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink! You are denying the validity of the Pats cheating by saying it didn't have an impact (NOT TRUE), that everyone else does it (NOT TRUE), and that it's old news!
Not denial - LOL!!!

2 other points:
They have been caught cheating twice, the other time was in 2006 in Green Bay where the offending employee was removed from the stadium by Green Bay officials.

If you had read carefully you might have been able to grasp what I was saying regarding signals. There are a certain number of plays teams like to use, and you have to have a pattern or order to them such that, when the signals are changed in an effort to stop teams from knowing what play you are calling, your own players know what play was called - otherwise the players would have to memorize the new setup every time, not possible. So the advantage is in deciphering the patterns and decoding how the signals have rendomly changed.

I'm your typical Boston sports fan. I love the Red Sox and Patriots. I just got into the Celtics this season, which makes me a hypocrite cause I usually talk badly of people who start to like their teams only when they're doing good. I've never watched a hockey game in my life. Nascar bores the living hell out of me and I'll never understand how anyone can watch a whole race sober. And I know very little about anything college-sport
