Well I think we've got a nice finals set up in the NBA with King Lebron James and his court the Cleveland Cavaliers vs the established champions the three time champion San Antonio Spurs led by their star player Tim Duncan.
Now I'm a Spurs fan and I'm rooting for them but I think it's tremendous that a young superstar like Lebron James and a long struggling team like the Cleveland Cavaliers are finally in the finals against the established champion in the San Antonio Spurs. Now people will say Lebron is only in his third or fourth year so he'll have so many more chances to get back to this level but isn't that what they said after Dan Marino made the Super Bowl in his second year in the league, didn't win and never returned to that event.
You never know so enjoy it Lebron and Cleveland and we'll see where it goes from here. On another note I heard Lebron might be having a child during the finals and that's an extremely exciting personal time for him and his family and also a difficult decision considering his importance in the Finals. I don't know what to tell him That's an extremely tough personal and professional decision for him to make but I hope it works out best for him and his family. Just remember most of us don't have to go to work in front of the world spotlight and have all the hopes and dreams of him playing or not. But on the other hand his decisions as a father are just as important. Just ask Derek Fisher of the Utah Jazz who went through a similar family/basketball decision in these playoffs but it all worked out for him and his family and team.
As for the finals I think it will be a great finals but I think the Spurs will win methodically as they often do because they are the better team. But with Lebron James and his Cleveland youth and energy I won't count them out either. I'll say the Spurs will win in six or seven but good luck and welcome Cleveland and Lebron James. It's exciting to have them here as well. Take care and talk soon friends and always have a great and productive day. Best wishes. fenfan
Well, you know I'm pulling for the Cavs. But, I do agree this is going to be great for the NBA as I see very high ratings for this series. I hope it's as good as it should be.
fen -- I think we are in for an exciting series. I was very impressed with how the Cavs showed a lot of maturity in losing 2 1st 2 games they could have won -- but not letting it get them down.
Major Props to coach Brown for keeping his guys focused on "1 game at a time," but then again, he had a very good mentor...
I expect Cavs to keep a few games close, but in the end - Spurs Big 3, depth and experience in closing out will be just too much:
sidenote: I did not know about Lebron's wife expecting child -- that CAN affect his mindset - in turn affecting his play.
Most people don't know that Duncan went through same thing in '05 Finals vs Detroit -- his wife had some difficulties -- and I think it did affect his play in middle of that series.
Tim's so private you just didn't read about any of it in the press.
Thanks for the comments friends,
I hope you read my comments in your blog as well Steeler. Yes it should be a great series and it will either be another great championship for San Antonio or one of the big "upsets" for LeBron James and Cleveland. Lets see what happens. I'm already excited. fenfan
I'm a Spurs fan as well, and can't wait for this series to start. It will be a lot of fun and most of the casual/neutral fans will be rooting for Cleveland. Whether or not this is the year for the so called "chosen one", and why the Cavs do or do not stand a chance against the Spurs will be analyzed ad nauseum over the next few days, and it will not matter one bit to either team. Analyzing stuff like that is what the media and fans do.
We as Spurs or Cavs fans, while whole-heartedly rooting for our beloved team, also need to just enjoy this NBA Finals. There are fans of 28 other teams that would just love to be in our place.

Hi,
Stern didn't get what he wanted at least publicly, privately we'll never know but I don't believe in conspiracy series or good or bad calls. Officiating can be improved but we can't change the calls so accept them and move on Talking about them does NOTHING!! Enjoy the finals friends and talk soon. fenfan67

I love taking about all sports in general although I tend to follow team sports more because I tend to follow teams more than individuals. That's why I don't have any favorite players listed at this time. Feel free to talk about most anything in sports with me. I don't know everything about sports, but I wish I did because maybe then I'd be in the sports profession. Anyway sports is my passion and I'd love to talk about it with you and become your sports friend so stop by anytime and we'll talk sports!
