Mike Vick Really A Good Guy!!!!
May 22, 2007 | 5:11PM | report this

NOT!!!!  As many have already written in blogs here on the FoxBlogs, Michael Vick’s supposed association with dog fighting has created much attention over the past few weeks.  As if Vick needed any extra attention, he has been accused of being involved with dog fighting.  His involvement has yet to be determined, though there have been reports from some of his associates that he has been seen at dog fights in the past.  But what is even more disturbing than these accusations, is that there have been NFL players who have actually come to Vick’s defense.  As you have read on several FoxBlogs, Clinton Portis has been quoted as saying, "I don't know if he was fighting dogs or not, but it's his property, it's his dog.”  He also said, "If that's what he wants to do, do it. I think people should mind their business."  Well, Mr. Portis, let’s look at some of the facts that surround dog fighting.

Dog fighting is a money making machine.  It is basically an underground outfit that makes its money by pitting two dogs against one another in a violent clash that often leads to death…and always leads to injury.  These dogs live through this torture through most of their lives.  If they are not killed while fighting, they often die from infections and internal injuries sustained from the fights.  In other words, they die a slow and painful death.  These dog fights are also common venues for drug distribution and usage.  In fact, it is a common venue for gangs and “mafia” like organizations who thrive on drugs and violence.  Dog fighting is a felony in most states, and is illegal in all states.  It is the most violent and ridiculous of all animal abuses.  Much of their training is done on cats and other small domesticated animals, who are unfortunate enough to be listed in the local newspaper as “needing a good home”.  So the abuse from dog fighting isn’t limited to dogs.  I don’t think I need to elaborate any further on the facts of dog fighting.

With this being said, I am challenging all bloggers who have supported Michael Vick and his fellow NFL supporters to explain to the sane world how exactly it is “okay” for Vick or any other person to be involved in the vicious and inhumane sport of dog fighting.  Have we really gotten to the point in American where our professional athletes are pardoned for what would be a felony in most states?  Now, with this being said, Vick hasn’t been convicted of anything.  However, as friends and others come to the forefront of this investigation, with incriminating evidence that supports the accusation that Vick does, in fact, have his grubby little hands in this absurd sport, it is becoming more evident to the law of public opinion that he is guilty.  And for those of you who support his actions, and anyone who is involved in this so called sport, I hope you have a mirror you can look into on a daily basis, and truthfully call yourself a decent human being.  If you do, you are a fool, and someone who needs to be psychologically evaluated.  GET HELP SOON!!!

As for Michael Vick, he was recently asked by an ESPN reporter about what this will do for his career.  Vick simply stated that he had enough support from around the nation that this wouldn’t hurt him.  He was also asked if he feels that he will be convicted of being involved with dog fighting.  His heart felt answer was, “no comment”.  If Michael’s brain activity matched his physical abilities, he might be able to complete a sentence that is understandable to the general public.  And Mike may be able to understand right from wrong.  Up to this point, that part of the brain has yet to develop.  Good luck Mike!!  And I assure you that what your money will get you out of in this life, will not escape you in the next!!!

So, will Mikey be a Falcon next year?
They'll need a QB to replace him.
Could he be the bad influence on poor Marcus?
Inquiring mind wants to know.

This is very typical of people to convict someone before he is found guilty. As we all should have learned by now you can't believe everything the media reports; in order to get you to read or to tune in to their programming. Just like the Marcus Vick who was only 17 years of age when he was accused of taking a minor across state-lines when he was a minor his-self. THANK ABOUT IT!!!!

jamaica....i should say the same to you...THINK ABOUT IT!! How much research have you done on this subject? The evidence is mounting...and Mike is breaking. This is the blogworld...where there are no court rooms. We can actually make decisions based on reason. Don't even act like you think he's innocent....after 60 malnourished and injured dogs were found at his residence...and after his own friends have come forward and said he is directly involved with it. Reality check bud!!! I don't care how big of a fan you are...you have to admit that Mike has proven himself to be of the "thuggish" nature. And this is only adding to that. I guess you think O.J. and Barry are innocent too huh. Use your noggin dude!!!

You are dead on Fatmaw. I just want to add that the fight dogs are not the only victims. There are countless animals that are butchered during the training of these fight dogs whether it be other dogs or racoons...

Also did you notice that Vick does not know the meaning of the word exonerated. What a dip stick.

matt....the pictures were disturbing, and I am glad you put them there. The fact that any human being would allow cruelty to any animal for ANY reason tells me they are devoid of morals, ethics and compassion for life. The fact that it was done for monetary purposes makes it even worse.

If Vick is found guilty, and apparently, there is video on youtube of his attendance, then he should be jailed with child molesters. Maybe he'll understand what it;'s like to be caged up and defenseless against stronger, meaner animals.

hell yes he's guilty. This guy is a cancer, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he killed small animals when he was young.

I have to admit I first saw this blog early this morning and I was so upset I had to distract myself. I have two dogs that are white shepherd/wolf mix and solid white. They are my children and no I don't dress them up....lol. If Vick's cousin would like to take my dogs on he's more than welcome; Portis too. Anyone that gets caught doing that should not only serve time but be subjected to a very long mental health program. There is something very deeply disturbing about anyone that could witness and get off on that. I can't even imagine. Way to show it like it is Fatmaw.

When I was but a child, teens as well as grown men would travel throughout various neighborhoods with pitbulls and boxers looking to stage fights. I saw maybe one or two take place right on Chicago's city streets, but none resulted in gruesome injuries like the ones you have here -- at least I don't think so. I was so young.

Terrible to see.

Fatmaw, well said, fantastic scribble.
The problem is nothing is illegal to a celebrity just an inconvenience that needs to be spin doctored. I fully expect the Vick SPCA PSA to hit the airwaves because the NFL cares. Funny thing is, Vick is essentially involved in human fighting so I'm not sure he'll ever understand the uproar.
This is the price of abundance, in any 3rd world country you fight for food, shelter and clothing, here in the US we can raise food for sport...I think Roger should bounce Vick right out of the league, why isn't quality of ingredients a part of Major League sports? Have we reached the limit of "Wink-wink" boys will be boys yet?

Incredibly disturbing! Words are pretty hard to come by. The pics talk for themselves. What's sad is many of these animals die horrifically slow deaths because of their injuries. I don't think anyone seriously believes that they're taken to a vet to fix them up. Anyone who engages in this type of behavior in my view is extremely dangerous. This is inhuman.

Thanks for the comments guys. I truly do hope that Vick is bounced from the league on this...although I tend to think he won't. The sad part is that he thinks he has enough supporters through his fans and his teamates that he doesn't think he'll be touched on the subject. Makes ya wonder how these guys get to this point.

Thanks again!!

I haven't read any comments, don't have too. Matt, these people who do this #### are in for their own #### barbaric thrills. I would love to, for their sentence be thrown in a gage with these dogs and allowed to take on what he promotes. When are we going to stop pushing these thugs through college and on to pro sports and have our children look up at them as role models.Thugs is what they are and always will be.If they realy went through college like they should they would be educated enough to understand what they did is wrong.Iquit watching stick and ball sports for this reason.

xracer...I can't say as I blame you for giving up the ball and stick sports. They've become places for the unruly. I will say this, however...if NASCAR doesn't get a grip, it will soon become the same. It isn't about "stock" car (which we know there's nothing stock about them) racing any longer. It isn't about winning. It's about sponsorship and money...."who's the highest bidder". Don't get me wrong...I'm a race fan. But it is becoming the same.

Thanks.

The pictures are disturbing, disgusting, and completely appropriate. I'll be honest. I had no idea that this problem was that bad. You know, you read about it in news stories. But, those are just words. People have the ability to just shrug off words. "Oh, it's not that bad." But, you can't shrug off a picture. That's a smack in the face. Thanks for posting it. Anybody who would do that to an animal should be prosecuted to the fullest extent. It might be "just an animal", but no living thing deserves to be subjected to that kind of torture.

I don't believe these creatures get enjoyment out of it, as stated fatmaw1, but are blind to it by the anticipation of MONEY. Yes...the tried and true decimatour of many a person the all-mighty dollar. As to Vick? Of course he is the "alleged" proprietor of the dog fight arena, shall we call it. And Portis? He's the all encompassing fool who is unaware of the law, made aware of the law but continues to support Mr Vick with the eternal it's because he's black provactuer. Also, Mr Portis has probably never seen or been near an establishment where dog fights for profit have taken place. Sickening, wrenching to the soul to see that an educated man as Vick would take to earning that extra money (no matter how much you make ya always need a lil extra) by involving himself, "allegedly", in this behaviour. Portis? Maybe a post and a cornfield and he could , if lucky, gain employment scaring crows away from the crops.

jgrace...good to see you!!! Yipp...flat out disturbing. I pretty much just threw it out there for everyone to see. And I too hope the one's who are caught doing this are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Unfortunately, in some states it's only a misdemeanor. It's really sad!!!

BDyckns...you've touched on an interesting point here. This is what's so disturbing about the Mickie V involvement....it doesn't appear as though it is for the money. I honestly think he gets a rise out of it. He's a multigazillionaire. Why would he care about the money from the sport...it has to be from the rise!!

I also find it interesting that these dog fighting events are places where it is common to see drugs sold and bought....isn't that the reason they did the raid on Mickie's place to begin with. I actually think he's involved in MUCH more than dog fighting. But that's just me.

Thanks for stopping by!!!

I have to say that this has got to be the most barbaric form of entertainment there is.

I agree that Mickie V isn't in it for the money. Sad that someone can be so removed emotionally from another living creatures well being.

Hopefully he is in a state where the penalty is not just a misdemeanor though. I have to disagree that he should be punished to the full extent of the law however.

The reason for that is that any prison he would end up in would be a camp... There isn't any punishing or reflecting that would really happen. And more then likely he would do it again. What I think should happen is he should be made to live the way the poor dogs had to or the way the worst ones have been treated, give him a 3 foot chain and a mud yard to live in day in day out. Now THAT would be a justice i could live with someone like Mickie V getting.

Carrying over from our conversation on another blog, I see your point fatmaw but I have something to add and I am sure all the small minded people out there will blow a gasket over my reply to you. If you want to post pics that people should be truly disgusted over then post pics of what happened to citizens and soldiers in the gulf war, vietnam war and just for shits and giggles throw up there the pics that most all have seen of the guy getting blown into three pieces in afghanistan. What is the war about? Some say terroism which is somewhat true. But anytrue war historian will tell you that not since B.C. has there been a war that was not about domination of the world and its money or some form thereof. So, my point is, while everyone is up in arms about Vick's possible dog fighting, thousands of HUMANS are being murdered in war. This includes our own American soldiers. But no one is taking the powers that be to court and to prison for killing our soldiers. We live in a country that is distorted over what is most important. Thousands of our own country men murdered on the battle field so the rich can get richer or dog fights by Micheal Vick? Both are crimes but according to the headlines the dogs are more important. To me that is sick.

Sharply...you're talking to someone who has been to the war. And remember something...we VOLUNTEERED for it. Now, with that being said, the issue with war is a whole other issue...and one that I would love to discuss with you...maybe over email or chat. This blog ties into SPORTS. I understand your point and your anguish..but this blog has to do with sports...and dog fighting just happened to be the topic at hand..simply because Mike Vick was involved. My point is not to make light of your subject of cruelty to animals. If you feel strongly about it then preach it to those who will listen. My comment that first started this was that if everyone keeps talking about it it is gonna get blown out of proportion and everyone will be so focused on that that no one will focus on the real problems in this world. Yes I attended several fights about 12 years ago and what I found amuseing about the whole thing is that the animals were truly happy. i know to most of you that is not believable after the pics you see but like a MMA fighter or a world class boxer, even when beaten and broken they love the sport they are in. Granted they usually still have a face but then again we are slightly higher on the thought chain than dogs. Dog fights have been around for century's. They started hundreds of years ago and have evolved over time to what they are today. Extremely bloody and violent. Fighting of animals in general occurs in one form or another in just about every country. Mongolia and there stallion fights. Southeast Asia and there rhino beetle fights. Mexico and there #### fights and bull fights. Pakistan and there dog fights. America and there whatever they can get to fight fights. It's out there. But I feel there are more important things to worry about as I have said. Maybe off the sport subject but true none the less.

Sharply..I can assure you that there are MANY more Feds who are working to keep the homeland safe, and who are investigating murder and rape cases than there are investigating Mikie V's dog fighting scandal. You make this sound like the Feds are pulling all their resources just to bring down Vick.

I'm sorry dude, we will disagree on this one. This is a serious problem. First, it is violence. Second, it is gambling on violence. Thirdly, it is cruelty to animals. If that's not enough to get the Feds involved, I don't know what is.

fatmaw1

And you made the comment that the animals "were truly happy". Do I honestly need to elaborate on that? So who do you think trains thost animals that way? Why do they train those animals that way? Does it make you happy that they're happy ripping each other's faces off? Humans have the ability to train themselves..and make their own decisions. In the case of these animals...humans have made those decisions for them.

IT'S DISGUSTING, CRUEL, and anyone who watches them, pays money to see them, and who gambles on them has serious issues....PERIOD!!!
