We should all know that the icon John Wooden was weened on hoops in Indiana, both in high school in Martinsville and then up the road at Purdue University.
And then Westwood beckoned. You have heard of the Bruins: Lou Alcindor and Bill Walton, and many others...10 rings.
It happened to me, too, in a sense.
But not so much basketball, really. And just one ring. A wedding one. Eight years ago.
Just as a fan, I guess, of basketball.
From southern Indiana to the city of Los Angeles.
And now Eric Gordon, Junior.
Clippers.
Did Elgin Baylor find his lightning in a bottle?
Will Maggette and Kaman have their little assassin? He weighs over 220 and rocks the rim like a #### blaster, and he rains threes as well as Reggie "Riverside" Miller or Jason Kapono...
DJ White got traded to Seattle...More on that later. Of course, he is an Alabama transfer...
But when it is all said and done, the next ten years will be crazy Hoosier madness between Portland with Oden, LA with Gordon and Seattle with White.
Enjoy, Left Coast!
Maybe the Warriors should look for a Hoosier, or even a Boilermaker...Or someone from IUPUI...All those Hoosiers.
My major beef with Mr. D'Antoni is that he runs his first six guys way too much. This causes physical and emotional burnout, thus leading to a lot of wins in the short term, but is an overall poor strategy for the long term, delterious on health and effectiveness and the grueling run for theplayoffs.
Playoffs? Playoffs? Did you say "Playoffs"?
I still think the Mavs or the Spurs or even the Jazz could handle these guys come late April or May, but if they have a hope, they need to spread the minutes much more to keep fresh legs, avoid unneccessary injuries and boost team morale. If you have a Jalen Rose not getting any court time for 10 straight games, something is really wrong.
The following box score from last night's Clippers game is encouraging.

I am no expert of course, but Rose, Piatkowksi and Marks deserve more PT, especially in mop up time, but occasionally just for brief spells in the earlier quarters...He has enough talent on the bench, and they are all (including the so called brain trust) getting paid well to win all year long. Phoenix fans deserve it.
Am I right or am I right?
Kurt Thomas is back healthy not to mention Amare on the floor is a big deal, but we can't run these guys 40 plus minutes a game! And why is Diaw hurt? Getting too many pounding minutes in the first half of the season?
There are 12 guys on a roster for a reason, Coach.
Agree with me?
The Pacers, Jazz and Knicks are deep and are deployed as such. This is a good combination for winning basketball. Like in chess: every piece is important and permits you to win.
I have lived in a few different sports areas and I am faithful to these places and their passions, give or take. I was born and raised in Bloomington, Indiana (1970-1989). Bob Knight was a central figure. I then lived in Chile for two years, where soccer became more of a presence on my global map. After returning to the Hoosier state one year, 1992, I became more aware of college football for a five year stint in Provo, Utah (1993-1997). BYU Cougar football! I made another return to Indiana from 1997 to 1999, and then spent the last six years in southern California, minus the last six months of 2005, in southern Chile again. And I got back yesterday, UPDATE:Now in Loudoun Cty, Northern VA! I am in the South! I love sports enough to think that they matter...Some how.
