Tom Crean has now been at IU a month, and the number of players he has dismissed is large. The exodus from Bloomington has followed the regime change from Kelvin Sampson to Dan Dakich to the heir apparent of Bob Knight.
Most recently it is DeAndre Thomas, the 6'8" 300 pound senior behemoth, plus the confirmation of the expelling of his former Juco teammate 6'5 SF Jamarcus Ellis, as well as two year starter 6'1" sharpshooting guard Armon Basset.
The redshirted 6'9" Eli Holman of Richmond, California, apparently requested a transfer and the police were called at the end of the interview.
Things have settled in Bloomington.
Settled for change and regrouping.
No starters are back. Joe Crawford, 6'3" sophomore SG, is the only significant scorer returning, and former walk on 6'8" Kyle Taber had gained experience on the court and earned a scholarship. He'll be back.
Perhaps these two will start.
Brandon McGee, 6'7" sophomore SF is expected back. He might start.
Two Sampson commits are still coming, Roth is a shooter and Pritchard is a big man.
Now we have Juco transfer Devin Dumas 6'2" SG (PG?) guard and big guard freshman from Alabama Nick Williams.
As Madonna says as Evita Peron: "Where will we go from here?"
ed, you've got to admire a coach that has the heart and morals to do this in any sport. I wish my vols had such a coach (football). I wish the best for your team.
Good for IU!
Hire a priest to perform an exorcism and remove the remnants of the 'criminal.'
Dump all the hoods Kelvin brought in. I'm sure their acacemic progress is questionable. OK is happy to be done with the fool. Pith the NBA franchise that hired the fool.
Sampson doesn't have the reputation of recruiting program building and high character guys as of late, although Eric Gordon seemed to have a good head on his shoulders.
Another point to make, Joe Crawford just graduated from Kentucky. Jordan Crawford is going to start for Indiana next season.
Crean has some solid players coming in, just landed 6'4 guard Verdell Jones today and Nick Williams should be good too. Lineup may look like...
Devin Dumes PG
Jordan Crawford SG
Nick Williams SF
Tom Pritchard C
Kyle Tabor F
Jones and Roth will provide some depth and scoring ability off the bench, they could use another big though.
Depending on whether or not Crean wants to go smaller he could start McGee or Tabor. Also he's in a good spot to land unsigned center Maurice Sutton, who looked good in the Derby Classic in Louisville a couple weeks ago.
It's not going to be the best of times for IU, but they'll build on this coming year and maybe upset some teams along the way.
I might be able to "come back home" and start watching IU basketball again... I havent watched a game since Coach Knight was fired.....Maybe now i will...keep up the good work
but hey how about the votes??? hillary doing well and obama right on her heels????? mcclain might get some votes as well!!!!!! i didnt go to see clinton at the university of oregon i was busy.....geta clue ed???? does this fit??????? nope lets see can we say (why??? this is sports!!!!!!!!!!!
edclinch It's like they say.... 'if you're gonna star fresh then you might as well clean house'. And with Crean doing what he's doing then it's appropriate.
I've just found about the allaegations being made against the Trojans' OJ Mayo and his taking money from various parties whilst he was in high school and college. Once again the NCAA and the Trojans act oblivious as to what's going on within that educational establishment. But then it oughtn't to surprise anyone at all. Both parties are self serving and care very little about the student athlete.
The other day when I posted about the primary race, I read your comments and didn't think they were that nasty, but perhaps I misread them or I am still misreading you now.
"Get a clue", "got a clue", "did you get a clue?"
I am not sure which one exactly you mean by this most most recent reminder of that post referring to the RACE between the candidates, but I think your "clue" was received loud and clear.
You might be a dullard.
Or maybe it's me.
????????????????????????
Blog on, and I still aprreciate your participation here always. Look forward to it.
KellyScott: No hard feelings, but I happen to think that a sports blog can be expansive enough to cover some races that are not the first action highlights of SportsCenter, and that especially includes a funny thing called the
HUMAN RACE.
Good stuff to blog about. I think Dudski and a few others, for example, do a mighty good job of it.
And I hope to add to the whole Foxsports menagerie.
its jordan crawford.... joe was his brother who was a senior last year at kentucky.... and roth is a crean recruit who was going to marquette with him but decided to come here

Knew there was something wrong when we beat you in the 1st round of the tourney-And we weren't very good ( see: North Carolina game ) You'll be back. It's Indiana basketball for god's sake
Indiana or Hoosier basketball is HS basketball. The sun rises and sets with HS basketball in Indiana; all hysteria in hoosierland is based on the HS basketball experience - even in it's current diminished form.
Indiana University basketball is the college experience. It still suffers from the malignant tumor that is Bobby Knight - but this latest therapy may rip Indiana University basketball from the tentacles of those who can't think of IU basketball without that deeply metastasized disease - and into a new, sorely needed, HEALTHY era of which all Hoosiers can be proud.

hey what ever it takes.... kids in this age, arent taught to follow rules much anymore, they think they can show up to practice when they want, and be coached like an allstar???? its called a team!!!!!! i look at it like parents?? teaching your kids respect!!! umm another word lost in the shuffle!!!! respect!!!!! i guess why so many turn pro early... get out of college and turn pro so they can live the high life!!!!!! i see and am seeing it at a small college here in eugene, last year the coach quit, and his assistant took over aS coach, and shes a tough coach!!! no more of this showing up to practice late!!!!! and she was hired as the womans head coach replacing the departed coach so lots of changes better be had in attitude now with her as the head coach!!!! the starters from the past arent going to have such an easy time now!!!! have to earn the starting job now...
I have lived in a few different sports areas and I am faithful to these places and their passions, give or take. I was born and raised in Bloomington, Indiana (1970-1989). Bob Knight was a central figure. I then lived in Chile for two years, where soccer became more of a presence on my global map. After returning to the Hoosier state one year, 1992, I became more aware of college football for a five year stint in Provo, Utah (1993-1997). BYU Cougar football! I made another return to Indiana from 1997 to 1999, and then spent the last six years in southern California, minus the last six months of 2005, in southern Chile again. And I got back yesterday, UPDATE:Now in Loudoun Cty, Northern VA! I am in the South! I love sports enough to think that they matter...Some how.
