THE PROBLEM WITH T.O.
Dec 07, 2006 | 9:23PM | report this

Terrel Owens is a product of our time. When things are going bad he complains and ####es and whines and fingerpoints. It's always someone elses fault.  He's never responsible for his own actions much less anyone else's. There is no T.O. in the word team.

The problem with T. O. is the way he acts when times are bad is the best he acts. When things are going good he becomes even louder, even more rude, even more arrogant, even more dismissive of those peons he must suffer around him in order to be in the limelight.

Stop and think about it. You have a co worker or a neighbor or went to school with more than one just like T.0. An Insuffurable egomaniac blabbermouth taking ALL the credit when he's involved with the slightest bit of success

And an inssuferable complaining troublemaker blabbermouth assigining ALL the blame when he's involved with the slightest bit of challenge to overcome.

T;O.'s success as a football player is more in spite of himself than because of himself.

A little off-base on this one. You claim that every time something goes wrong, he blames someone else, but that isn't the case this year. Maybe in the past...but not this year. In his speech about why he thought cutting Mike Vanderjagt was a bad idea, he said that you couldn't blame losses on the guy. He said that he thought if the missed FG were the case of the loss, then he was responsible for a couple of the team's losses too, including the one against the Redskins. So...sure TO is boisterous and annoying...but let's all quit living in the past and realize what he has become for the time being.

Mitch I respectfully disagree with you. Just when the Cowboys are jelling and it's starting to look like a vintage "Tuna Team" T.O. has to do something that is not immature for someone his age but is totally disrepectful to his coach. Even if he hates Parcell this is not the time to pull a bush league stunt like T.O. just did.

Dusty!!! I totally agree with you! In fact, one of the radio DJ's in Minneapolis here has taken to calling T.O. "The Baby ####". Anywho, another great post! Hey, you didn't comment when I told you I was coming out to LA this January! What's up!? Am I gonna get to meet the infamous dustylaker or what!?

Great post Dusty... Gonna get some comments on this one. I tend to agree with both Dusty and Mitch on this one. The Press is making it sound like Terrel Owens held a press conference so he could make those comments about Not hearing the Tunas speach. Although what he said was "stupid" and not what the team needs at this point we also need to look at how it was said. He comes out of a team meeting surrounded by press people throwing questions at him. He's an attention hound anyway (something to do with his childhood I'm sure). He half jokingly makes a comment about thinking about his party. He just wanted the press to know that it was his birthday. Again I think its something the press has just blown out of proportion. They want a controversy with T.O. so bad I'm sure some of them won't sleep at night till they find one.

dusty ...... The press has allowed him the privilege of airing his views for all to hear and ponder. Unfortunately for us TO has never met a camera or reporter he didn't like and always seeks to give an opinion whether good or bad or indifferent.
That's what makes him TO and the press just laps it up expecting the viewer and the fans alike to want more.

I suspect that thirty to forty years ago a player of TO's stature wouldn't be so much as given a second glance with his so called pronouncements ? The present day media just feeds into all of this instant gratification for anything they deem to be newsworthy in order to report it.

Fabulous post..Dusty..T.O.'s contribution to Dallas success lately has been very marginal to say the least...Just imagine what ten undropped ballpasses would do to Dallas'record.I am surprised he has not used his hand injury as an alibi.Have you seen his demeanor when he saw GRAMATICA shot the winning field goal vs Giants??He probably wished that should have been him..The man is sick....

Papi...not sure what you're talking about. I saw his demeanor after the game winner and TO was ecstatic.

He gets a bad rap for the past, but this guy has done nothing warranting criticism since the whole accidental overdose...and even that is arguable...

I just feel bad for you people who get sucked into the media's game and pay attention to the story they're blowing up. It's the media....they'd never lie to you for ratings would they? *cough cough*

Too bad..D87..your protege is too unpredictable. All football players are innocent until proven otherwise but T.O...He has no choice to live with that stigma...He was the author of the "Receiver whining on the sideline" and of course the media took advantage of it..similar to what the Papparatzi or the Tabloid does to famous or infamous people.

Shifty, missed your post. Been busy. Lord that woman thinks because I'm retired that we are suppose to be running an gunning like the wild bunch.

If you buy thru the Lakers or Legitimate authorized agency you of course can have the tickets at "will call". If you buy thru a scalper broker you will likely need to do so and arrive in time that they can be picked up before the game or have your friends your visiting pick them up.

I understand what you guys who defend T.O. see in him. I was a receiver and I know how people reacted when even my small success I'd make a circus catch or get that toe down inside the chalk or juke two guys who ran into each other. Qback, RB and WR. The "glamour positions". But for my money, T.O.is as overrated as there is in professional sports (unless Randy Moss is still considered a mega starr). Dropped Passes, the neve rending dissension he causes between himself and coaches, the bad chemistry among the team, the constant injuries, and now he's 33 years old. You can have him. Parcells and Romo are why Dallas is winning. Not T.O.

TO isn't even the best receiver on the Cowboys. Terry Glenn is.

Silly dusty. Not visiting friends. Just going out there to have a good time. We'll be staying at a hotel somewhere downtown. And I want to check out the Clippers-Wolves game that saturday when we get there. Thinking I'm gonna get my tickets off the Clipper Ticket exchange. Seems like the best/safest deal.

this is complete ####. i challenge you or anyone else to find a single quote where TO isnt owning up to his share of the blame. its one thing to dislike the guy. its another to make false claims about him. i have no memory of TO claiming any victory for himself. you can pull the ESPN transcripts if you wanna, but he's never said it. all he's done is voice his opinion on questions he was asked - with which we all have a right to disagree. but the guy busts his #### to get read and still gets called selfish (superbowl, anyone?). he could #### a gold brick and donate it to charity and one of you jokers would find fault with it. TO was one of the first NFL players into LOU after katrina. he auctioned his NFL championship ring and donated all of the money to victims. he was there before president bush was there. i only saw one article on it - but i've read numerous articles picking apart what he meant when he said the words "i am happy in dallas. i wish i'd been a cowboy my entire career' tom jackson tried to spin that to mean he was dissin the Eagles and 9ners. you know, it just makes ya'll look foolish. i dont even like the guy - but i'll give him a chance to grow as a person.

While I don't know T.O. or his people or his family, but i cane be considered a T.O. supporter, don't ask me to defend him for everything or make excuses for him but he became the worst mf in the league over night. Randy Moss had that title sewn up for a bit after that play when I want to play comment. you can hate on T.O. and insult his character all you want but the bottom line is that he either made someone or made them better. Garcia, Mooch, Knapp, he made them all look great and we now see that they were overrated, all OF THEIR SUCCESS WAS BECAUSE OF T.O. MCNABB IS A MUCH BETTER QB THAN HE WAS BEFORE T.O. AND THAT IS NO COINCIDENCE. And what or who were you refering to on my blog, it seemed like it was me but I don't remember insulting you.
