I am wondering what is going on with people today. I see that there are rules, and various sanctions against players celebrating. ANYTHING! While yes I can agree with some of them. At least when it involves situations like T.O. and the sharpie, or over the top things like that. I however cannot agree with the full and total ban of a celebration of any kind. It starts with the little leagues and works it's way up to the pros. If a little kid does something well of course he's going to be happy, I remember how happy I was when I did something good playing baseball. It was a good feeling, I did a fist pump, I cheered, I never took it over the top. Then I moved on, and guess what, to my knowledge no one on the team had to get therapy. The didn't go run off and start having self esteem issues. They kept on playing. Not only that, the parents sat by and did nothing, imagine that. I feel that sports are about competing, they are about pouring yourself into something you love to do. And when you do well at it you are entitled to celebrate, and show emotion.
I feel that the Washington game crossed the line. I know that words upon words will be writen about this game. However it is absolutely uncalled for that they threw that flag, Washington is playing for everything this year. Respectability, their Coach, the chance to step in the right direction. So of course Jake Locker is going to be ecstatic when he scores a potentially game tying touchdown, that was an emotionally charged play. Heaven forbid that he be happy, or show emotion. He might hurt BYU's feelings, they might not ever recover. Or wait, maybe they play harder, and they try and win in overtime. I guarantee that if you ask any one from BYU, they don't care.
