Brett Farve is killing the Packers
Apr 24, 2006 | 1:01PM | report this
Brett Farve is killing the Packers.  I know that its hard to retire from a sport that you love.  Its hard to quit a job that you truly love and spend your entire life working toward.  He has done it all...Super Bowl Champion, MVP, Ironman of the sport.  A great career.  But, Brett, its time to make a decision.  This team cannot go into the draft without your decision.  Its time to stop being a selfish #### and make a decision.  I really don't know what you are waiting for.  No, the Packers haven't done alot to inprove their team from last year.  With a top ten pick in the draft they can get an impact player.  Javon Walker doesn't want to be a Packer anymore so there is potential for another high draft pick if they trade him away.  Yes, it would hurt the receiving corps, but I think that might be part of what is happening.  Maybe Brett doesn't want to be on the same team as Walker.  Has anyone thought of that possibility?  We know what happened between them with the holdout...is that what Brett is waiting for??  what ever he is waiting for he needs to let the Packer organization know and now.  He is holding the organization hostage.  They need a backup QB to help Rodgers along if Brett doesn't come back.  Its a bad play if they sign one now and he decides to come back.  BRETT ITS NOW OR NEVER...EITHER RETIRE OR NOT ITS TIME TO PUT UP OR SHUT UP.

Djaaron- You make some good points but I have to disagree with the supposed urgency of Favre's decision being paramount to th success or lack of success of the Packer's draft. I posted a column on this subject a couple of days ago. Why don't you drop into Canyon Corner and visit; Maybe you will get a little different perspective on this subject...But , nice thought on Favre/Walker.That was interesting. Good job.

favre not wanting to play here because of walker doesnt add up. if they had to, they'd dump walker in a heart beat if they thought it would get favre to play, or at least make up his mind. besides, walker has already stated he wont play here regardless of whether favre comes back or not, he's pi$$ed at the entire organization from management to players and coaches. which to me sounds very selfish, and wont exactly endear him to any future teammates in another city. the only decision that makes sense now is for favre to leave the packers, whether it be via retirement or trade or being cut. he's not part of the future, and the present offers nothing for him or the team. rodgers NEEDS this season to gain experience of playing in game conditions without the pressure to win every game. having favre around wont allow that, not to mention he refuses to lift a finger in mentoring rodgers in any way. personally, i believe favre and walker need to go away for the team to regain its credibility with the fans, the league and the players.
