There are rumors all over the internet and other sports publications that Daunte Culpepper will not be a member of the Minnesota Vikings next season. There are many reasons to keep and trade Daunte. I think he should stay. A QB with the skills of Daunte is hard to find in this league. just look around the league and the quality of QB's. There is a huge decline in the talent at the position. The new coaching staff in Minnesota needs to show Daunte how to read a defense. Daunte has all the skill needed to play the position, just not the brains. Another reason is marketing. Daunte is the face of the Minnesota Vikings. Unless the Vikings get the first pick in the draft to market, there is no other player to market this team. A team needs someone to be the face of the franchise. T-Wolves have Garnett, Twins have Hunter, the Wild have Gaborik. All these teams, including the Vikings, have success mareketing their teams with that face. Daunte needs to stay. He is one of the best skilled QB's in the league and the face of this franchise. The Vikings more than likely couldn't do any better
What skills are you talking about? Did you see him play this season? If I'm not mistaken, he looked absolutely terrible. If you want to know where Culpepper got his skills, I only need to words: Randy Moss.
If you can trade Culpepper and get a good package, do it. I don't think he's anything special as this season proved. The Vikings are better off drafting a qb and giving brad johnson the helm this year. Find some talented skill players and then you can hand the reins off to whomever the next qb is.
I am with grace and cuss, I know before this last season he an MVP type of a season, but that was with a healthy Moss, I would trade him and get the best package available, as cuss said, go with Johnson next year and groom a young qb.
