NBA Draft Dodger
Jun 26, 2008 | 9:54PM | report this
Here are some of my random thoughts regarding a mildly entertaining draft...

It’s amazing that Mark Jackson, clearly a great basketball mind, had absolutely no in-depth or intriguing commentary to provide on any of the players picked.

Ultra-tight, snug-fitting suits were clearly the fashion choice of the evening.

Question: Can someone please explain how Chris Douglass-Roberts falls into the 2nd round, number 40?  FACT: He will be one of the top 10 players of this draft.

The Nets had a potential great draft day if the following happens:

1. If soft forward Yi Jianlian can be productive in the wake of departed soft forward, Richard Jefferson.

2. If Bobby Simmons can regain the form he had in his last contract year with the Clippers in 04-05.

    3. Chris Douglass-Roberts is as good as I think he is.

D.J. Augustine was taken at number 9 by the Charlotte Bobcats. Two things that should be noted about the Bobcats.

1.     I can’t name one person I know who has seen a Bobcats game. Not on television or live.

     2.  Charlotte owner Bob Johnson will forever be a clown for naming his team after himself.

Congratulations are in order for my Washington Wizards for successfully navigating their way to their 9th straight HORRIBLE draft. (Note: Devin Harris was drafted in 2004 and immediately traded to the Mavs) Not an easy feat.

The Clippers selected Eric Gordon at number 7. And with their aging and questionable guard play, coupled with a possible departure by Elton Brand, the stars are aligning for Gordon to jack up more shots than any other rookie and finish second in rookie scoring.

Pick number 46: Sasha Kahn gets the award for most likely to be made fun of because his name sounds too much like an eighties pop star.
That's it. I'm out.
