How is Joey Crawford refereeing in the NBA playoffs, let alone in the NBA period? I will go out on a limb, and say it is IMPOSSIBLE for Kobe, while being guarded by Bruce (Edward Scissorhands) Bowen to not shoot one free-throw an entire game! Along with the blatant no call on the travel of Duncan toward the end of the first half, to the FOUL on THE FLOOR by Derek Fisher at the end of the game, I guess it all evens out? He (and many other officials) but Crawford most au####iously, makes blatant non calls and seemingly make-up calls during the course of the game. Laker Fan is obviously happy because of the blatant home cooking that was overcome tonight and which also seemed evident in the Utah Jazz series- at least in one game (but not as bad as tonight) much like the hacking and hand checking by the Spurs.
Oberto is terrible, Horry looks way worse than his last days in L.A, Ginobli is a every third or fourth game guy (I mean those 30+ pt games at least...), UM MEMO TO SKIP BAYLESS!!!!!! But with all that said, the Spurs can play at times, and sometimes play very well, but closely watched, they hand check and foul constantly and whine and complain consistently, when they don't get defensive fouls called in their favor, and this is made more annoying many times by the fact they should all be basically fouling out in half of the games...especially our boy Bowen!
The Spurs fans shouldn't complain about that last shot. If the reffing would have been good it would have been the Lakers blowing out the Spurs by double digits, and Fisher's shot hit the rim so it should have been the lakers at the line at the end to make it a 4 point game. So it was a good non call at the end.
The Spurs did have a sunstantial FT advantage over L.A., but Crawford didn't lose it for the champs. Manu's poor game did! And the Spurs' poor FG shooting. Besides, with the lack of even average officials, the NBA can't rid themselves of Joey anyway, so he's here to stay as long as he wants to.
L.A Fakers!Refs are in on it with the NBA to get la back to the finals watever bad or no call its gonna take!Enjoy the fake unearned crown when the refs and the nba hand to the la fakers.
Overall, uneven officiating can be frustrating at times. But usually the game plays itself out. That is why even the Spurs including Pop said this was a no-call situation. He said he wouldn't have made the call as it played out...(now I am saying, if Barry had jumped into him should it have been a foul, would it??!!, it would have to, but like I started with, Duncan traveled, and somehow Bowen gets away with hand checking constantly!
the refs made 30 no calls when the Lakers got fouled, not to mention the "no ball hit the rim call" that would have made it so the fish play would not have occured. 30-1 and we still won. ask anyone who knows basketball. the Lakers outplayed the spurs. the score should have been farther apart. the spurs almost got very lucky.
but still close game.but the Lakers deserved to win. but yeah good blog in the respect of the refs. I thought they ,and joey made bad calls all game, or better bad no calls. most of them on Kobe
but deuce, don't think many will disagree that fish no call was right on. me included. same with phil jackson. he was bumped, could have got the call. but just you have to look at all of them. I am with you . they need to look at all of them and grade refs. and figure out how to ref all games consistantly.

I think it was pretty obvious, I would agree, but one never wants to sound bias#1, also, it made for a nice finish, but no controversy if you watched the game in my opinion.
yeah your right 30-1 was uncalled for.did think it was one sided tward the spurs though. lets just say 1 (the no rim call) to 1 (the no foul call). it was fair and balenced bad officiating. fox fair and balenced lol , good one :p

what does S-tink is that if the no rim call would have been right. the lakers would have still won. the fine spurs fans could have said we tried but way to not roll over. but with both of them it gave hope to the spurs and their fans and then took it away with another bad call leaving a bad taste in their mouths about the game. I don't blame them. bad officiating makes for bad basketball period.

True, the officiating can ruin an otherwise great game, but then again, maybe not... WE STILL ARE WATCHING! We really forget those bad calls for real overall though, and Spurs Fan has to know they should have lost by 15. Like I said, Utah hacks more, but the spurs are close, I tell you what though, sometimes Duncan on Defense even with his seeming lack of lift really doesn't foul on some of those blocks. I think he suprises guys or something...
I have 20/20 vision and a very large HDTV. You stand there Commisionner Stern; That no call on Barry at the end of a very crucial game #4 for the Spurs, should have been 3 foul shots for Barry with .08 sec. on the clock. The whole nation knows there was a foul(it took Kobe 6 sec. and two hhhmmmms before he answered the question,"I didn't see a foul." HOSED AGAIN! If this is the way you treat your "model team"? You can have it Stern! I have been a Spurs fan since they used to play with a red, white & blue basketball. If one thing is for sure; If you don't have 20/20 vision , maybe, you need a large HDTV(or younger refrees - hhmmm there's an idea???? mustangtommy
Maybe spur fans should worry about the previous 47 minutes and 57.9 seconds of the game which you never led. And secondly be thanking the refs for shutting out Kobe for two games in a row NO freethrows for Kobe the leading Freethrow attempter in the league against the hacking spurs give me a break. Not to mention the bad goal tending call, manus foot on the line and the ball hitting the rim, yeah you guys really should be thankful you were even in the game, the refs kept you in it but cant possibly expect them to win it for you can you? Not one spur thought it should of been called. And the Lakers pointed out all the missed calls on the other end get over it/
I have to agree with stopbeingstupid and if the rim was called right barry would not have even got the ball.
that being said, I agree with the spurs fans that feel ripped off. ripped off from seeing a good game that they would still have lost but without all this. I Blame The No call on the rim (not resetting the 24 sec clock) for it all of it. thats the call that ripped you off. it gave you false hope that you would win.
but mustangtommy, I am with you on the younger refs with 20/20 eyes though.
Kobe went to the line like 2 times the entire two games in San Antonio. Don't talk to me about the refs eating their whistles. L.A. Law posted the game clip of the last shot.
1.) Barry clearly travels.
2.) Barry lowers his shoulder into Fisher
3.) Barry dribbles after the contact so even if you get a foul there is no continuation.
I try very hard not to complain about refs, it's part of the game. But when Spur fans start imitating their teams players and crying about Fishers foul at the end, which it prolly technically could have been called, I gotta say something. Take away Duncans 2 on his running slam from half court and that shot/foul doesn't matter. That's not even considering the other bads (KB doesn't go to the line? Gimme a break). So shut up, suck it up and deal with it. Calls are part of the game, one way or the other. The Lakers (the Fakers? c'mon Spurs, you can do better than that, and when you get'ya another dozen or so maybe you can call names, but the floppiest whiniest team in BBall has no right to call anyone "Fakers") didn't call it, the refs did. Take your prepubescent angst out on them.

Chill out, Laker fans, you won. What are you all in an uproar about? There aren't all that many Spurs' fan complaining. There is ONE post on this blog saying the foul should have been called. ONE.
So, are you claiming none of the Laiers fans have been complaining about the refs during this whole series? Are you really going to try to sell that?
You people need to chill out. You won the game, no one is going to take it away. You sound like a bunch of little kids who think someone is about to steal their cookies. It's hilarious.
UltTroyDos, you seem to be a case of the kettle calling the pot black. Look at your own post and then talk about calling names and prepubescent angst.
Lakers are a team with speed that the Spurs cannot run with.
Lakers are more athletic.
Lakers have Kobe Bryant, who cannot be stopped no matter what you do.
These are the bottom lines of the series.
Everyone can get all irritated about the Spurs' style of play and their constant whining and fouling. I have learned to deal with it because that's how they won their championships. They have a different formula to winning than the Lakers.
But what's more annoying is the Spurs high-pitched public address announcer.
Does he really have to say "HERE COME THE SPURS" in that annoying voice on every stinkin' possession? Doesn't he have anything else better to say? Everyone already knows that the Spurs are coming down the floor so can't he just shut up for once and just let the team play?
A little bit about me. Ex sports guy. Football in College. Played everything in highschool etc. Above average, and I love to study the players reactions and faces to situations. Like this for example, was Chris Webbers ill fated timeout call just a mistake by a young kid, or indicative of behaviour. I say the latter if you remember tha Sac times and he had his hands on the ball during the clutch. Watch OUT! That ball is not going in the hoop. I will say this about C-Webb, he never quit at it and got better during the end of his time in Sacto. MY NBA PASS IS ON EVERYNIGHT! I hope you love all sports because I do!
