Monday Night Bam.. who's going to be UltraMega's Number 1 contender?
Jul 30, 2007 | 7:54PM | report this

If any of you guys remembered a few months ago I did a wrestling post with our bloggers. I'm really bored so I've decided to revive it and I'll be the comish for both Bam and Beatdown. Note: This is all scripted by me, so don't be mad if you lose or win a match. Anyways let's go down to Jim Ross and Jerry "The King" Lawler. JR-

JR- Thank you detroit and here right now coming out is our WWE champion UltraMega. You may remember how Ultra won that 6-man Hell in a Cell because he pinned FlyingPig.

Lawler- Yeah that was one memorable match, and let's hear what the champ has to say.

Mega- As you all may remember, a few month's ago, I won this WWE chapionship. I pinned FlyingPig and I am your champ. I do believe that you people should bow down to your champ. (Crowd Boos) Is that anyway to treat your champion, you all know I won that championship fair and square and I will keep this title forever. (Boos) I have no Number 1 contender so apparently I will keep this title forever.

Me- That's where you are wrong Ultra. After tonight you Will have a Number 1 contender who you will face at BlogBash in 2 weeks. So you better be studying tape on all the wrestlers tonight.

Mega- Bring it on!

JR- This should be a memorable night tonight as we will see who will be Number 1 contender for UltraMega's championship.

Craving some fantasy football? Go to LSUfan's blog to join one or more of his fantasy football leagues. You might want to hurry up and sign up before all the spots are gone.

JR-Welcome back to Monday night BAM. If you weren't watching earlier UltraMega said that he is going to be the champion forever but then the commish came out and said that he was going to name a number 1 contender after tonight. And here's our first match of the night..

Ring announcer- Ladies and Gentlemen, the following match is scheduled for one-fall. First off weighing in at 320 lb and is 6ft 3in tall is Miracle (Crowd Cheers). Next competitor weighing in at 190lb and is 5 ft 9in tall is KenrickThomas (Crowd Boos).

Lawler- This is not going to look good for KenrickThomas because Miracle is almost double his size and is a lot more experienced.

(Bell rings)

JR- And Miracle starts out early with 3 right hands, he tries for another but is blocked and reversed by Thomas.

Lawler- Nice job by thomas by reversing miracle.

JR- And here comes miracle with a nice suplex on Kenrick and throws him at the turnbuckle.

Lawler- Oohh, you could hear the impact of thomas' back hitting the turnbuckle.

JR- Miracle's setting up thomas on top of the turnbuckle. Oh, miracle gives him a suplex of the top of the turnbuckle.

Lawler- He's setting up for the five-star frog splash. Duck kenrick! Duck! (kenrick ducks down). That's what I call call quick thinking.

JR- That may have just bought kenrick some time. Miracle is getting up and tosses him off the ropes and is setting up for the spinebuster. And a kick to the skull of miracle.

Lawler- Nice reverse by kenrick. He's going for the backcracker.

JR- Kenrick has landed in the backcracker and he's going for the cover.

Ref- 1,2,3.

JR- A major upset, the young and upcoming kenrickthomas has just surprised miracle and has pinned him. Now what is this cocky superstar doing.

KT- There you go everyone. I surprised you all and you should be happy that someone good has won. (Crowd boos) O shut up you guys don't know anything. Anyways, Miracle, just to prove how talented I am I challenge you to another match Saturday at Saturday Night Blog Event. Do you accept?

Miracle- Yes.

JR- O boy king we may have ourselves a rivalry starting here.

Lawler- This could be a very good rivalry with a young, cocky superstar against an experienced veteran.

JR- When we come back it will be The_Dan against half of tag team socal, socalsportsfan.

Do you think that the college poll voters don't know anything? Do you think a blogger could do better, well go check out hogfan's blog to see what bloggers around here think the polls should be like.

JR- Welcome back to Monday night Bam, I'm JR with my co-host Jerry "the King" Lawler. Jerry, before we went to commercial break, kenrickthomas surprised us when he pinned miracle to get the upsetting win. What do you think about this young superstar.

Lawler- I think this kid has to put his money where his mouth is, sure, he won a match, but let's see if he can do it again.

JR- Now here we have a pretty good match here with a possible contender for UltraMega's Championship against a very skilled tag team player.

Ring announcer- Ladies and Gentlemen, the following match is scheduled for one-fall. First off weighing in at 275 lb and is 6ft 5in tall is The_Dan (Crowd Cheers). Next competitor weighing in at 230 lb and is 6 ft tall is Socalsportsfan (Crowd Cheers).

Lawler- This is a pretty even match and I would have to go with socal.

(Bell rings)

JR- socal starts off with some kicks to the thighs of Dan and Dan blocks it. Dan going for a belly to belly suplex and connects. Dan is kicking socal on the ground and has to be broken up by the ref before he gets DQ'ed.

Lawler- Dan is dominating right now and socal gets a punch in but dan comes right back with a neckbreaker.

JR- Dan is throwing socal at the ropes and.. (huge crack) That is one high impact closeline and socal is down hard. He's going for the cover..

1,2,

JR- socal breaks out with a 2 count. Oh boy Dan's going on top of the ropes for a diving elbow. (Loud Boom) And Dan connects. He goes for the cover...

1,2,

JR- Socal got his shoulder up. Dan looks frustrated.

Lawler- I'm not surprised, he's had the advantage the whole time but socal hasn't gone away.

JR- Here comes Dan setting up for the Canadian-Bomb. (Another loud boom) Dan connects, for the cover..

1,2,3!

JR- Dan has finally won the match. What the hell, what the hell is Norcalfella doing out here.

Lawler- Looks like he is taunting Dan, now what is socal doing?

JR- Looks like socal is getting a steel chair. Don't do it Dan. (Loud ####) Socal HAS JUST GIVEN DAN A CHAIRSHOT!

Lawler- Someone get socal outta here. What are Norcal and Socal doing to Dan a double-chokeslam. (Loud ####) Dan has to be seriously injured.

JR- Socal and Norcal finally have been shown the door by the refs. God damnit why did they need to do that. Now here comes the paramedics to take Dan out on a stretcher.

Wanna see what KG looks in a Celtics jersey? Go check out phillip1thru12's blog to see what this superstar looks like in some irish green.

JR- Welcome back to Monday night BAM where before the commercial break Dan had to be taken out on a stretcher because of the injuries sustained by Socal and Norcal.

Lawler- It wasn't a pretty scene and let's hope that Dan is alright.

JR- Back to the ring we have our third match of the night.

Ring announcer- Ladies and Gentlemen, the following match is for the Intercontinental Championship and is scheduled for one-fall. First off weighing in at 240 lb and is 6ft 1in tall is slshusker (Crowd Cheers). Next competitor weighing in at 220 lb and is 5ft 8in tall is MercuryRising (Crowd Cheers).

JR- This could be a huge match for one of these superstars because if you win the Intercontinental Championship you are usually bound for greatness. Some notables include FlyingPig, ShooterB, UltraMega, Rivjo, and recently Nostradomas.

Lawler- You are right JR and hopefully this match ends with a clean ending.

(Bell rings)

JR- Husker starks of early with a punch but is blocked by Mercury. Here comes Mercury and he's starting off with a few punches and the southpaw is looking pretty impressive.

Lawler- Here he comes with the suplex but husker reverses. husker gives mercury a scoop slam.

JR- Here comes husker with the sleeper-hold and, a rake of the eyes by mercury and here he comes with the DDT..

(Crowd Cheers)

Lawler- Mercury is going on the top rope and what is he doing.

JR- And mercury has landed the dropkick off the top ropes on husker and here's the cover..

1,2

JR- He's broken up of the pin and mercury is waiting for husker to get up so he can spear him.

Lawler- SPEAR! Mercury connects with the spear. Here's the cover..

1,2,3!

JR- There you go, MercuryRising is your new Intercontinental Champion!

Ring announcer- Winner and new Intercontinental Champion.. MercuryRising.

Lawler- And Mercury is going to shake huskers hand and husker accepts.

JR- Finally some good sportsmanship tonight.

Is there any e-mails you wanted to see that you didn't get to see? Are there some you want to read again, well then got to lisa4usc's blog to see them.

JR- Welcome to our main event of the night, let's go down to the ring announcer.

Ring announcer- Ladies and Gentlemen, the following match is scheduled for one-fall. First off weighing in at 350 lb and is 6ft 7in tall is FlyingPig (Crowd Cheers). Next competitor weighing in at 260 lb and is 6 ft 2in tall is Rivjo (Crowd boos).

JR- This should be one exciting main event.

(Bell rings)

JR- Here comes rivjo with a quick closeline and FlyingPig quickly gets back up. Here comes rivjo with a suplex but is reversed by Flying Pig.

Lawler- Pig throws rivjo at the ropes and.. (Boom) a big boot from the Pig.

JR- Pig is getting him back up and again throws him at the ropes and.. a sidewalk slam. Here comes the cover..

1,2

Lawler- Rivjo breaks out. Rivjo comes with a uppercut to the jaw and nice dropkick by Rivjo.

JR- Rivjo now has the momentum and he's taking out the top padding of the turnbuckle. He's looking like he going to Irish-whip him into the exposed turnbuckle and.. Pig reversed him into his own trap.

Lawler- I know how that feels and it doesn't feel good. Uh oh, here comes the Chokeslam from Pig and.. SLAMMED!

JR- Here he goes for the cover..

1,2,

JR- Rivjo broke out with a 2 1/2 count.

Lawler- Mega better be watching because one of these two could be his contender.

JR- Rivjo has bought himself some time by giving Pig another dropkick. Pig gets up fast though and throws rivjo at the turnbuckle. Here comes pig with a bulldog and lands it.

Lawler- He's setting up for the sharpshooter... he's got it locked in.

JR- Will rivjo be able to get to the ropes in time.. he does and Pig is forced to give up on the sharpshooter.

Lawler- It doesn't look good for rivjo.. Pig's signaling for the chokeslam.

JR- Rivjo's in trouble.. here comes Pig on the chokeslam. (Loud ####) Here's the cover..

1,2,3!

Lawler- FlyingPig has pinned rivjo and you may be looking at your number 1 contender.

JR- We will find out who ultramega's number 1 contender is after this commercial break.

If you think you've heard almost everyone linked to BALCO check out who GerbilSportsNetwork also has linked to BALCO.

JR- Welcome back to Monday night Bam where right now our commish, Detroitsports, is in the middle of the ring and is ready to announce UltraMega's number 1 contender for his WWE Championship.

Detroitsports- Ladies and gentlemen, I am here to name your number 1 contender. Ladies and gentlemen, the number 1 contender for UltraMega's number 1 contender for his WWE Championship is.. FLYINGPIG!

JR- That's what we were hoping for.

Lawler- Here comes Pig.

FlyingPig- Thank you detroit. I am very happy to accept this honor and as for you Ultra, your title is MINE!

JR- Oh Boy! Here comes the Champ. Mega is here.

UltraMega- FlyingPig you don't stand a chance against me in two weeks at BlogBash.

FlyingPig- I don't think I would be as cocky as you are my friend. You are just a #### waiting to be beaten.

UltraMega- You don't get to talk to me like that...

JR- Holy ####! Mega has given Pig a uppercut to the skull.

Lawler- It looks like Pig shook it right off and has given Mega a kick to the gut and a DDT.

JR- Here comes the referees to break this out. This should be an exciting match at BlogBash.

Pig- That title will be mine, you ####!

Double Dip version 3.0
May 26, 2007 | 9:00AM | report this

Welcome to the new and improved edition of Double Dip.. Ver. 3.0. Let's go right to the diamond shall we?

PhotoThe Tigers lost to the Indians yesterday, 7-4. This wasn't a very good pitching game by Nate Robertson, letting up 2 HR when they needed him to pitch a gem. C-Mo had a good game, he hit his 8th HR of the year, but it would've been better had Jason Michaels not have robbed him of a 3 run jack that would've gave the Tigers the early 4-2 lead. He also didn't help out his cause when he tried to hit a HR in the 9th inning when we STILL WOULD'VE BEEN DOWN BY 1! We have Verlander today so let's see if our young stud can get us back on track.

Why does everyone but the state of Michigan think that the LeBron shot at the end was a foul. Yes, it's "King" James and we always have to give the "King" the calls especially close calls like that. LeBron, when you make a big shot once in a while you'll get the call. Right now you aren't cause you can't deliver when needed.

The Indy 500 is this Sunday, (I think), and what do I keep on seeing "The Importance of Women Drivers" but why? Danica is a sex symbol and the other two I haven't even heard of except that 1 is a rookie and the other has raced there like 5 times. I think we should stop beating a dead horse with this until one of them actually wins. PS- My money is on Marco Andretti, the one who got 2nd last year.

Finally, wrestling was actually pretty good yesterday on Smackdown! Jimmy Wang Yang vs. Chavo Guerrero was better then I thought, with Jimmy winning and the Main Event was about as good as it was hyped up to be. In case you didn't know, the Main Event was a Fatal Fourway with Kane, Finlay, Mark Henry, and Bautista and whoever won would face Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship in 1 week. Bautista won with a spear on all 3 of them and then pinned Finlay. It should be a pretty good 1 night stand.

That's all I have for right now.

Friday the 13th! Oh no.
Apr 13, 2007 | 4:11PM | report this

O my god, hide the children. It's Friday the 13th. I know it's terrible, if you have paraskavedekatriaphobia you need to lock yourself in the closet and not to come out until it is 13 min past the hour the next day. OK, I'm only kidding, I'm not like one of those pshycos that are afraid of a number. But, apparently, sports players do. I have done some researching and have found a very minimal amount of players who have or are still wearing the number 13. These guys are-

Wilt Chamberlain

Dan Marino

Don Maynard

Alex Rodriguez

Steve Nash

Ralph Branca

I know. Very little. I guess athletes are all about supersitions. And I guess these guys deserve a little "about-me" time. So let's start out with our luckiest of the bunch, Mr. Wilt Chamberlain.

Wilt, considered by many to be the greatest center of all-time, was arguably the most dominant player of his time. He was the only basketball player in the history of the game to score 100 points in a game. He has 4 of the top 5 scoring averages in one year. He has scored the most points in NBA history and, according to him, had sex with more than 20,000 women. So in my books he is definetly a "scorer."

Now the second person on here is considered to be one of the best "stat" QB's of all-time. This is Dan Marino. Dan was drafted in the late first round by the Miami Dolphins. He was drafted late because of a poor senior season and injury problems at Pitt, but nontheless he had a brilliant career there. Anyway, the Dolphins didn't make a mistake in drafting him. The only thing missing from Dan's trophy case is a Super Bowl. In 1984, his best season both statistically and team outcome-wise, the Dolphins gave Marino his only chance at a ring when they made it to SB XIX against another HOF QB (Joe Montana) and Montana's 49ers soundly beat the Dolphins 38-16.

On the 3rd of my 6 people, this player also played football, this man was Don Maynard. Unlike Marino, Maynard played WR. He was the first player ever signed by the then AFL New York Giants. Maynard, although received heavy criticism by the NY media, produced good numbers for most of his career. He and fellow HOF WR Art Powell were the first pair of WR's to get 1,000 yd on only receptions. He was introduced in the HOF in 1987.

The fourth victim on my list is simply known as A-Rod. A-Rod came into the league with a big #### in his first full year hitting .358 with 36 HR's and 123 RBI's. In 1998 he had an even better season joining the 40-40 club. In 1999 he hit 42 HR's in only 130+ games because of injury. In 2000, he had a great final year with Seattle, but the Mariners lost the ALCS to the Yankees and Rodriguez was a Free Agent. He was signed by the Texas Rangers and he had a phenominal 3 year career there, hitting 156 HR's and winning his first MVP there. But with the teams struggles he was traded to the NY Yankees. Since his time in New York he has won another MVP award, and been booed many times by many Yankee fans, but with the start he is having, the boos should stop soon.

The only other player on the list that is still active is Steve Nash. Nash was drafted by the Phoenix Suns but was traded by them 2 years later on draft day to the Dallas Mavericks where he got his start. In 02-03 he and the Mavericks had great years. The Mavericks made it to the conference finals and Nash averaged 17 points 7 assists and made the All-Star team for the second straight year. Following a bad year in 03-04 though, the Mav's let Nash walk. The Phoenix Suns happily signed him and Nash won back-to-back MVP awards and is trying to make the same case again this year.

The last player on my list is probably the unluckiest one of the bunch and that is Ralph Branca. Branca played with the Brooklyn Dodgers, Detroit Tigers, and NY Yankees. He played most of his career in a Dodger uniform and it was when he was in that uniform is when his unlucky situation happened. Everyone knows about the "Shot heard 'round the World" and Branca was the pitcher that gave Thompson his HR pitch. After the HR Branca didn't have much more sucess as a player. He retired in 1954.

So for you paraskavedekatriaphobias who came out to read this post, go lock yourself back in the closet.

ABOUT ME

detroitsports
Oh let's see here... I was an all around athlete in my younger days. I have been to many Tigers and Lions games, will try to make to at least 1 Red Wing game in my lifetime. I like smelling my own farts for enjoyment and like listening to R&B and rap. I think Rasheed is retarted and McGrady is the best in the league when he's healty. I think the Tigers will make the World Series this year and every year in the future. One more thing... testicles... that is all.
