The Super Bowl wasn't as great as most people wanted it to be. But, I expected that type of outcome from the game. It wasn't a very close matchup on paper, or on the field. I know I'm late on this, but I wanted to drop my 2 cents in. Sidenote: Most of the commercials sucked.
College Basketball is getting into mid-February, and you know what that means-- Bubble Teams! Let's look at 5 bubble teams to watch for-
Bubble Teams to watch for
Albany (11-3 18-8 ) The Great Danes haven't beaten a quality opponent (closest to that is Utah) but after starting 2-4 they have been on fire since, but may have to do 1 of 2 things 1) Beat Vermont in the America East Tournament or 2) Just win the America East Tournament.
Massachusetts (7-3 17-7) The Minutemen have upset a few teams here and there. The main one that sticks out is Louisville. But they have also surprised Rhode Island, and George Washington. Winning out would almost solidify their spot.
Texas Tech (4-6 15-10) Bobby Knight's Red Raiders have upset some top-class teams, notably Kansas and Texas A&M, but have lost to some lowly Big 12 teams (Missouri, Baylor) and have dropped 5 in a row. Bobby has to get this team in there.
Michigan State (4-6 17-8 ) My team, yes MY team is on the Bubble? That isn't like a Tom Izzo coached team, but it's true. Their key win has been against Texas, but have lost some games in the 2nd half (Purdue) and some they were just a point or 2 short (Ohio State; first time). My hope is that they can beat UM both times, Iowa at home, and maybe upset Indiana.
Washington (6-7 16-8 ) Wazzu. These guys are also another team that is usually trying to get a top spot in the tournament right now. But this is 2007, not 2004. They have recently beaten Stanford and Oregon a little bit ago. Will those wins lock in their spot, we'll see. Now my
Top 5 games of the week-
5. Duke vs. Boston College (Wed.)- Duke has been in a huge slump lately, losing 4 in a row, and it doesn't look much better for the Dukies. Go with BC in an upset if you want to call it that, 64-57.
4. #23 West Virginia vs. #14 Georgetown (today)- A key Big East matchup, but Georgetown has been on a roll the past few weeks. Take the home team, 70-63.
3. #18 Oklahoma State vs. Texas (today)- Last time these two teams played it wasn't much. Just a 3OT thriller where we first found out the monster that is Kevin Durant. But since both teams have been streaking of the past, so go with the home team 105-103 3OT.
2. #22 USC vs. #19 Arizona (Thur.)- Two high quality Pac-10 teams, both ranked. But ya know what makes me mad, is that USC is good in BOTH football and basketball. I am taking USC on the road this time, 66-60.
1. #10 Washington State vs. Washington (Wed.)- It's Valentine's Day that day, so maybe instead of these 2 rivals taunting each other, they'll give each other a card and some chocolates. Fat chance. One of my 5 bubble teams are on here, so I'll go with them, 58-57.
Oh let's see here... I was an all around athlete in my younger days. I have been to many Tigers and Lions games, will try to make to at least 1 Red Wing game in my lifetime. I like smelling my own farts for enjoyment and like listening to R&B and rap. I think Rasheed is retarted and McGrady is the best in the league when he's healty. I think the Tigers will make the World Series this year and every year in the future. One more thing... testicles... that is all.
