Veterans
Nov 11, 2008 | 7:16AM | report this

I would just like to take this opportunity to thank all veterans for their service to our country. Whether you served in war time or not, you all deserve a huge thank you from your country. Without you America could not be what it is today. Thanks veterans from the bottom of my heart.

Pac-1????
Sep 27, 2008 | 7:25PM | report this

Ok here’s your chance. I’m a Pac -10 homer, I love Pac -10 football. I’m not a Trojan fan, but I am a huge Duck fan. Ok USC lost to the Beave’s and the rest of the world takes this as a huge upset. Tell ya what, not many teams make it through the Pac-10 undefeated. Last year USC lost twice in the Pac-10 and still almost made to the BCS title game.

The Pac-10 is having a down season, Ok I agree some teams are down. The Mountain West is beating us as well as some WAC teams........... Play them before you criticize. How many of these teams are top 25 now? BYU, Fresno St., BoiseSt and Utah are there. Edchinchsaint help me out here. There is some really good football out west.

Oregon has had to go 5 deep at QB and lost to a good Boise St team largely due to an illeagal hit that took our #3 QB out.

My point is and forgive the tequila talking but enough is enough. Florida lost to an unranked team. Tough SEC schedule or a big upset? LSU doesn’t look good against a weak SEC team. Tough SEC schedule?

SEC plays great football no doubt. Schedule some Pac-10 teams, or Wac or Mountain west teams. Quit talking about how weak we are until you play us. You may kick our ####, but play us.

Oh yea the Pac-1 Ducks,  how’s 63-14 with our 3rd and 4th and 5th string Qb’s. But then again the Pac-10 is weak.

Ok, beat on me people, my Ducks won big and I’m happy.

Fox blogger meets YeeMum
Jun 16, 2008 | 10:36AM | report this

About a month ago YeeMum wrote a piece about her local short track that just sounded like too much fun. So I left a comment on her blog that I was not too far and this sounded like fun. So I thought what would be better for fathers day than to pack up my 14 year old son and take a road trip to meet YeeMum and watch some races.

She’s about 200 miles from me but my mustang gt loves road trips so off we went. About 80 miles in a pretty little duck green mustang passes me going about 90 and that was all it too. We spent the next 120 miles playing hide and seek from the state troopers and I got to see how my pony likes too stretch her legs. What fun!

About an hour and a half latter we pulled in to the little town of Hermiston. I give YeeMum a call and tell her that we were going to grab some lunch and check in to our hotel. YeeMum being YeeMum said that they had BBQ going so forget lunch and come on over.

She just happened to live a few blocks from our hotel so off we went. We got there and standing out in the drive way was the infamous YeeMum. When I play here on Fox I have mental pictures of the folks that I blog with and I envisioned YeeMum as a tall small town laid back kind of person. Folks, I have legs bigger than her. Heres this 4 foot something maybe 95 lbs soaking wet firecracker.

We visited for about 2 hours eating some of the best ribs I’ve ever tasted and talked about our favorite Fox people. What fun! Great lady with a wonderful family and cool friends. Now it was time to head for the track. And if you read her blog about this track you know her passion.

We spent 20 bucks for a family pass (can’t beat the price) and another 10 for V.I.P. parking. The V.I.P. parking allowed us to pull the car right up to the side of the track and get out for the fun.

The first thing I see at this ¼ mile oval is a crack coming out of turn 4 that would #### a small child. They had grass growing in places you don’t see grass growing at say Fontana. But hell, this is a small town track. I’m ready to see some racing. Qualifying was ####-hum because no one wants to tear up the car before racing but it was still fun to watch. One fella came out with a tiger tail hanging out of the back of his car. Let me guess, this guy is named Tiger. YeeMum tells me that he’s one of the better cars out there and usually finishes in the top 3.

This place had everything, Mustangs, Camero’s, Monte Carlo’s, a lime green pick em up truck and even an Opal Cadet GT. My son points and say’s “Dad thats Grandma’s car” (a Ford Taurus).

I know that this is long but bear with me. The racing starts and it’s cool. Seeing these bigger cars 2 and 3 wide on this little track was great. Half way down the front stretch a car spins and hits the wall. every one goes quiet. No movement that we can see. The track crew shows up with the ambulance. After a few minutes the driver gets out and he is pissed, OK but up set. The wrecker hooks up to the car and.................... nothing. Next thing we know the hood is up on the wrecker. Small town track.

YeeMum was absolutely right on with her post. I’ve been to some races before and I watch them every weekend that my work schedule allows. But I’ve never had more fun at a race track than I had with YeeMum.

I learned a couple of things while I was in Hermiston.

 1. YeeMum is one of the coolest people I’ve ever had the privilege to meet.

 2. She doesn’t really have grease under her finger nails (though I still think she washed he hands first)

 3. She can probably kick my arse in an unfair fight.

 4. Don’t bring Tequila to YeeMums house, she’s not suppose to drink it.

 5. YeeMum is a lot of fun when she breaks #4.

YeeMum is a classy lady and I’m really glad that I had the chance to meet her and proud to now call her a friend.

Go out and support the local tracks, its the best racing out there and I guarantee that you have a blast. Davey and I did. Thanks YeeMum, you’re the best and you have a really nice family out there in the desert.

Ya, I stole YeeMums pictures, I wasn't smart enough to bring a camera.

Smiling in Duckville !!!!!
Dec 31, 2007 | 3:46PM | report this

This is going to be the last Homer blog from me and I want to say thanks to all of you who supported me, you know who you are. Congratulations to my Oregon Ducks who know one gave a chance in this Sun Bowl game against the University of South Florida.

What was it, USF was favored by 6 points after Oregon’s season collapsed after the final major injury that ended quarterback Dennis Dixon’s season. The Ducks finished the regular season losing the last 3 games that they played looking bad in all of them. An offense that was averaging 45 points a game dropped to 18 points a game.

Well the boys could have just rolled over and played dead but they came out and put a whooping on USF 56-21 with 4th string quarterback Justin Roper playing a solid game not making mistakes and getting the ball into the hands of his play makers.

Jonathan Stewart ran the ball for 253 yards and Roper had 4 td passes and the Duck offense looked like it had Dixon back. The defense got into the act with several turnovers and 2 touchdowns on interceptions.

Great team effort and congratulations to the coaching staff for getting the boys ready. Outside a terrible 1st half penalty wise the Ducks played well, made second half adjustments and played hard up to the end

Like I said earlier, this is my last homer blog and thanks to all of you. Positivepyche you are the best friend a duck could have. Oh did I mention the last homer blog........... of 07. See ya.
